Konoha Academy: New Class school Year!

It was proving to be a crappy morning for Suraida as he got up from his bed with his hair all tussled out from his less than stellar sleep schedule. He'd been spending many of his waking days in training, trying to get his weaponry handling and chakra formation nailed, but such consistent training was proving to be a distraction from his daily needs... such as sleep. He groggily would go into his bathroom and fix himself a shower, washing all the disappointment from the night as well as a little bit of his tiredness, before coming out fresh and clean ready to start yet another day at the academy. He would quickly put on his pack and make his way there to see what the day had in store for him. He would walk into his classroom just as all the other students would file in as he took a seat at his usual spot and set his bag down between his feet. The teacher was once again the lady he had seen his first day there and she was informing everyone that they were going out of the academy to a training facility. If it was the one that Suraida was thinking of this was going to be a breeze as he had already been over there plenty of times and had made great strides with his training thanks to such attendance. He made certain that he didn't leave his bag behind as she had informed the students they wouldn't be coming back to class that day.

Upon following her and the other students to their location he would listen to what everyone had to say as he was directed to take a blank scroll and study the hand signs that other attendees at the training facility were using. He would go around and see all of the jutsus that were cast and focus mainly on their hands to see what all signs were used in order to form certain types of jutsus. One note he took, in particular, was how every element of jutsu seemed to have a commonplace hand sign that was associated with a jutsu of that element and, due to a majority of the trainees using fire as their main element, a common one he saw was the horse hand sign so that was the one that he would take note of along with other hand signs. After all that he would then rejoin the group with the teacher as he would soon be called upon by Nokino-sensei to tell her a common hand sign he saw and show it to her.

"Horse, Nokino-sensei." he said as he would bring his hands together and interlock the knuckles of his fingers together except for his index fingers which he touched their tips together.



"This was what I commonly saw among everyone I studied." He would put his hands down once his observation was confirmed and, soon, it was time for everyone to showcase their skills with the transformation technique which Suraida was quite good at by this point. Once it was his turn he would bring up a lone hand to form the Dog sign before shouting in his mind 'Transform!' and being covered in a puff of smoke. Once the smoke cleared In Suraida's place was another Nokino, complete with her red sleeves, steely look, and even an unlit cigarette in her mouth. He would keep the form in case it needed to be examined for mistakes before transforming back to himself and relaxing his body in order to prepare for whatever tasks awaited him from the teachers.

It was different this morning, Cho was late for his first day because he was busy doing his chores, keeping his house in order, but this time he swallowed his pride, he would not be caught off guard and arrive late once again, it was embarrassment enough that he had been squared off in class, enough that his loyalty to Iwagakure shaken with a few words. Cho had to fade into obscurity, not make anything of himself either negatively or positively. Simply get through the Academy and get onto bigger and better missions.

When he arrived at the Academy, this time he ended up neither late nor early, but he was taller than most people here. The vast tide of students were mostly young, he kind of hoped that the other two he had vaguely seen would be here today, if not only for him not to feel like he was an odd one out. Parents waved bye to their children, some slightly older students who had clearly been pushed back a year or two and then he, basically a fully grown teenager taking his first steps into manhood. Cho shook his head slightly and made his way through the tide, like a rock splitting a river.

When they got into the Academy he made his way to the class, easy to find this time due to the dent he had left in the door. It’s worth remembering Cho’s head was still bruised and his nose sensitive to the lightest touch, and the vague smell of… something. He joined the other students and found someplace to sit which was out of the way, but not exactly a satellite position from the main group, being obvious from disassociation was not what he intended. Just a yellow and black haired young man who wore basically yellow and black themed clothing, “fuck” he thought, he stood out like a Bee in a bottle of water. His lack of imagination with his comparison was lost on him.

The group were mostly excited for the most part, something about a field trip had got some of the more excitable students literally vibrating in Glee, others were half asleep at their desks. He sat upright like a tombstone, a fleshy rock that proved that he had lived - or he was living. Collectively they all headed out towards the training facility, apparently the one outside wasn’t good enough as they were headed to a rather large and well stocked, well maintained advanced facility. Nothing like he was used to atleast.

Cho took a scroll from the hands of another student as he walked past, the student looked bewildered, unsure who took it, Cho had done well to try and avoid the teacher for now, stay out of sight, out of mind. There was a lot of training going on, some fought with Taijutsu and some Ninjutsu. There was a small group using Bukijutsu, he reached his hand out to mimic a slice one of them did, they were so vastly quicker that he had been suddenly reminded just how behind he truly was. These people were younger than him and if he had tried to fight them - he’d be put under before he had a chance to even think. It was disheartening, but it meant he had work to do. And he loved work.

Instead he moved to, where they were practising Ninjutsu, the majority were using Fire-Release, a staple within Konoha. Instead he performed hand seals himself, watching with one eye upon those using Ninjutsu and then on his own, In Fact he had already started to learn to perform hand seals with a single hand, though admittedly they were with the basic E-Rank Jutsu. He was impressed though by the range of skills that were on display, and made a mental note to keep improving his own skills.

Once he had taken several notes he went back to join the other students, he had gotten away with not having to describe a hand sign but had unfortunately been unlucky to be at the centre, asked to perform the transformation Jutsu. His hands shifted into position and he easily performed the Transformation Jutsu, turning into an old lady with a crippling back pain, his eyes aged, he leaned over and with a cough returned back to his normal form, he bowed and turned back to join the rest.

Another day, another class, Tenko sat at the same seat she always did, first-row next to the window in the way she always did in class, leaning forward and resting her head on her hand with her legs crossed. “ Morning Nokino-Sensei,” she replied in a dull tone in response to Nokino greeting the class, she was prepped for another lecture-style class but she was in for a surprise as once she was ready Nokino announced that today’s class would field trip to the training facilities to watch Ninja’s train.

Upon hearing that Tenko sat up straight with perfect posture and had a very enthusiastic look on her face. This is what she wanted to hear, she didn’t want to stay in a stuffy classroom reading a chalkboard and listening to lectures, she wanted to do some practical exercises and this was like a dream come true even though it’s literally just watching other people practise.

Then Nokino continued, it wasn’t just going to be watching other people train that was just part one, part two was going to be using what they would see and doing it themselves. “ Yes! “ Tenko exclaimed excitedly out loud, when the class when deathly quiet and stared her she blushed “ Sorry. “ she apologised to the class who were probably pretty shocked that she showed some emotion for once.

The class was led outside by Nokino and walked through the village, the students chatted away with each other all hyped for this exercise, Tenko didn’t talk to anyone as usual but she did have a happy smile on her face and a spring in her step.

They soon arrived at the advanced training facilities, this absolute giant building with all kinds of obstacles and tools to train with and Ninja’s of all ages and ranks zipping around training all kinds of techniques. Nokino stopped the class and dropped her duffle bag on the floor and directed the class to grab a scroll and go around watching the Shinobi practise and to note down what they were observing.

Tenko stepped up and took a scroll before rushing off to somewhere in the area to find someone to watch. There were people practising fire style, Hyuuga practising using their Byakkugan and Taijutsu, some Hatake summoning dogs and finally a group of Ninja training their clone technique. Tenko sat down and unfurled her scroll and watched as the Ninja performed all kinds of manoeuvres with their clones but what was common among them was the Ram hand sign that was used to perform the move.

Nokino called the class back after some time and asked everyone to show what they learned “ Ram was the sign I saw the most, Nokino-Sensei.” she responded performing the sign for the class to see, both hands placed together vertically with two fingers raised slightly higher than the others.

She’d wait for Nokino to observe and tell her to stop before doing so. Nokino would then explain how hand signs play into performing Jutsu, the signs weaved help to summon and mould the chakra used for the technique, after explaining Nokino then told the class to perform the transformation technique by weaving the Dog hand sign and that it doesn’t matter if the transformation isn’t convincing only that you transformed.

Nokino then performed the technique herself and turned into the Hokaga Aokidanza. Tenko folded her arms and closed her eyes to focus, she wasn’t sure who to turn into, the image of her father popped into her head causing her to frown and grunt “ No he’s the one person I refuse to turn into. “ she mumbled, next the image of her mother flashed in her mind relaxing her face “ No… I can’t do that. “ she’d again mumble before opening her eyes and weaving the Dog sign.

“ Henge no Justu! “ she’d exclaimed vanishing into a poof of white smoke. When the smoke dissipated a shaky old man stood where Tenko stood. Tenko stayed in this state until Nokino was satisfied and only when told to she would turn back to normal.

As every student watched and learned from the others in the advanced training facility, Nokino was patiently waiting and observing them. Almost all students seemed excited to do a field trip, to get out of class and to do something. Almost. As Nokino piercing gaze set upon Cho, the teacher saw that he was trying to dodge her attention, to melt in the mass of other students. At first Nokino didnt say anything as he seemed to practice and watch other use their weapons, but when it was time to show an handsign to the class, Cho was the only student who didnt present one. Worse than anything, its not that he had nothing to present and said it with courage in front of the class and the sensei, he just tried and do nothing and hope she wouldnt notice. She looked at him with eyes of fury, her face the one of disapointment. 

''Cho, you need to show a handsign to the class. To think I wouldnt notice you is as stupid as saying you are loyal to Iwagakure. Do it, now.'' Ordered Nokino to the black and yellow student. After he had done so, nokino would let the class move on to the transformation as planned.

As all students performed their transformation, the Iburi sensei was impressed with their ability to transform with such ease! Most students were quite promissing, even doing so one handed, clearly versed in the art of chakra use and ninjutsu even outside the setting of school. 

''Very impressive class! To see some of you do it one handed is an impressive feat! This conclude the class for today! Take your stuff and bags and you can all go, 'aight? See ya tomorrow in class!'' Said loudly Nokino as students left the training grounds.

 Another day well done!

This was it! Already half of the core class done, and half of the school session done for this cohort! As Nokino waited in class for the students, this time way in advance to welcome them, Nokino was waiting at her desk, a large pile of paper copy resting on the left corner of it, a sign usually meaning dread for students clever enough to know. As student installed themselves in class, some speculations were getting whispered all across the classroom, and Nokino faint smile couldnt hide well the pleasure she took from the guessing game the students were playing. She waited for all the class to be filled, and got up of her desk, cracking up and lighting her usual start of class smoke, a key element to the class vibe with Nokino-sensei. As stress was palpable in the air, Nokino looked over at all the students and puffed out a large cloud rising in the air before speaking.

''Mornin' students! Thats right! For those of you who guessed it by the large pile of copies I have on my desk, its a suprise exam today, so y'all better be ready, 'aight?'' Said nokino as her morning introduction. 

''Today we got all the morning to do the test. Its the mid-term Basic Shinobi Exam. There is questions on general ninja knowledge you SHOULD know by now, and also some question more personnal that you cant really fail unless you dont answer them truthfully. I want all students to do their best, and to do so in complete silence. Anyone caught cheating will be failed and forced to do the exam again. I will pass the copies, and once the last received it, you can all start, 'aight?'' added the sensei as she walked between the rows of desk, feeling the anxiety of most.

As nokino passed the copy, she ended by sitting at her desk, and summoning 2 shadow clones of herself, their gaze piercing and head like those of sentries, patroling in the class between desks, with Nokino being in the front at her desk looking everywhere, noticing any details and being focused like the gaze of a falcon.

After performing his transformation jutsu and getting a nice compliment from the teacher the day in class came to an end for the ninja in training Suraida as he quickly left the class in order to go about his day. He picked up his pack and made his way back into the village in order to enjoy for himself some of the local cuisine to celebrate a job well done.

Some time passes...

Suraida came back to the academy with a fresh attitude, his pack slung over his shoulder with his essential school equipment, as he walked into the class in order to have yet another day. As he walked into the class, however, he could see the teacher by her desk with a large stack of papers lying on it... 'Oh come on!' he thought to himself as he made his way to his seat and put his pack down beside it. 'I wasn't aware we were scheduled for testing today.' He took a seat in his chair and waited for the rest of the class to fill as he pondered what the test could be about. He tried to get himself in the mood of believing he was ready for it being that he had been heavily devoted to his studies but that didn't mean he didn't have any doubts as to how he was going to perform for the test.

Eventually the class would fill up with his fellow classmates before Nokino-sensei would spawn a few clones in order to hand the papers out confirming that it was indeed a test for them all to take. Once he got his paper he would wait for the rest of the class to get theirs before flipping it over and looking to see that it only had two questions on it... and surprisingly rather easy questions at that.  He focused his attention solely onto his paper as he took up his pencil and began jotting down the answers:

Answers to question #1: Ninjutsu: The art of manipulating one's physical and mental energies to create chakra and manipulate it in order to perform techniques. Example: Producing a ball of fire which can physically burn everything that it comes into contact with.
Genjutsu: The art of manipulating the minds of others in order to force them to see illusions completely at the control of the Genjutsu user. Example: The false surroundings technique which can make an item, such as shuriken, take the form of another item in the eyes of the one caught in the technique's grasp, such as a kunai.
Taijutsu: The art of manipulating one's physical attributes in hand to hand combat against opponents and utilizing techniques intent on causing physical harm. Example: There is a Taijutsu technique that is whispered about for how legendary it is in how fast it can dispatch opponents. It's called the Thousand Years of Death technique. Highly dangerous. Anyway...
Kugujutsu: The art of manipulating one's chakra into threads to allow the use of puppets in combat. Example: Chakra threads extend from the user's hands and attach to the puppet in question allowing the user to manipulate the puppet with a wriggle of their fingers.
Fuinjutsu: The art of manipulating chakra in order to form seals that serve a different variety of functions such as locking something away, setting traps, or even tracking other ninja who have a Fuinjutsu made mark on them. Example: The Mark Seal allows a ninja to put a tiny seal on another and, with the proper knowledge of Fuinjutsu, this allows them to keep tabs on where the ninja they placed the seal are.
Iryojutsu: The art of manipulating chakra to focus on healing wounds rather than causing them. Example: The basic medical jutsu allows ninja to close up and heal certain wounds that are not too serious or life threatening while higher versions of healing jutsu are capable of reattaching limbs.
Kanjutsu: The art of manipulating chakra in order to sense other chakra in order to detect if another person is nearby. Example: There is a technique known to high level ninja that allows them to sense a person's chakra signature as well as memorize it if they hang around that person long enough.
Bukijutsu: The art of manipulating weapons in techniques as well as gaining a knowledge about certain weapons and armors for ninja to utilize. Example: There is a jutsu that is capable of turning a single shuriken into many shuriken which a ninja can use to their advantage to overwhelm an opponent with lacerations or keep them pinned down to allow for another technique to be utilized against them.
Jikujutsu: The art of manipulating chakra to perform techniques set around teleporting, dimension phasing, and even summoning. Example: The summoning technique which has been a staple technique for history's most powerful ninja allowing them to summon creatures from far away in order to aid them in battle.

Answer for Question #2: Since I was little, I've always had a knack for chakra control and science was one of the main studies I focused on during my days in school at the orphanage. Space and time are two things that always fascinated me thus is one of the main reasons why I wish to focus mainly on improving my skills with Jikujutsu. Considering that it takes considerable skill with one's chakra to be able to accomplish such a task I feel I would be a natural in such a thing thus why I feel it's the perfect discipline for me to pursue.

With that done he would flip his paper over to signify that he was done and wait for them to be collected quietly as to not disturb the other students around him from their own tests. (And to prevent any cheating of course.)

Day Two - Midterm Exams

Finally half way through the Academy. Cho had learnt a lot over the last few days, specifically reinforcing information he had learnt watching the Aburame clan growing up, Cho was also impressed with the quality of some of the other students who alongside him had developed skills that he thought were likely quite rare. This was a strong class, in his opinion, which likely mattered not. From his day dreaming his was awoken by a test on his table, the warm fuzzy noise stopped and he was met with a chill from a breeze that rolled in. He narrowed his eyes at the test, he hated written work - Cho was much more interested in practical applications.

This time he listened intently to the teachers instructions, had had once again merely the day before been caught trying to avoid the teacher. It took awhile for someone to grind on his nerves but this teacher did exactly that, her directness rubbed him the wrong way, and he didn’t like being spoken to about his homeland in such a way, his welcome with the Aburame did nothing to give him a reason to want to defend Konoha either, what was it his father taught him as a boy, a child who does not receive warmth from the village will burn it down to feel it Cho was fond of his father, he wondered if he would be proud of him now, a student of another state, a prisoner of a decade.

His attention shifted from his growing annoyance with the teacher to his growing stomach pain seeing the questions written in front of him. Shiiiiit did he even know this? His hands grabbed a pencil, his fingers shaking. Cho was more afraid of failing something simple like this than heading back out into the wild, what if he failed and everyone else didn’t? He took a breath, taking time to make sure he didn’t look like he was talking, the sounds of pencils running on paper around him started to fill his mind. He closed his eyes and imagined home. He imagined a rocky cave surrounding him and leaving him in silence.

Pencil touched paper in the silence and he began to work. Ninjutsu - the act of moulding and creating chakra, usually requiring handseals. It comes in many different forms such as Medical Jutsu, Spacetime or sensory abilities. A great example of Ninjutsu is the Bunshin - or the Clone technique, this falls under Ninjutsu as a technique that uses chakra to make a doppelgänger.

Next there is Genjutsu, the style of Jutsu that aims to confuse, impair or damage the mind or perception of a target. These are used to great affect by ninja with high chakra control and falls Yin release, the opposite of Yang, A jutsu that uses it to great effect is the Mist Servant Jutsu, used in conjunction with strategy can turn the tides of combat with ease.

Moving onto Taijutsu and Bukijutsu, two abilities much alike another. One used knowledge of the body and precise stanima control through the usage of fighting styles, commonly it did not use Chakra - though it was often used to influence and increase the strength of the abilities. Basic sword and fist strikes fall into these types of Jutsu.

Fuinjutsu involves sealing or unsealing chakra, items or people within another object. Its usage is as vast as the sky itself, many Jutsu restrict mobility or imprison targets. Seals are either odd or even numbered, and an imbalance can weak a seal if an odd is placed on an even or the reverse. spacetime has very similar approach to Fuinjutsu and there are a number of cross overs, Spacetime influences the space time continuum and include techniques to teleport between locations aswell as summoning from other locations - such as the Summoning Jutsu.

Kugojutsu, commonly referred to Puppet Jutsu requires chakra strings from the user to the puppet or puppet’s, made famous by Sunakagure. The puppets can appear exactly as they are and can sometimes appear as realistic humans. They house multiple weapons and equipment. This is commonly simply called the Puppet Technique.

Finally, Cho was on the final two questions. The second to last referred to Sensory abilities, skill and Jutsu used by Sensory-Nin to locate and track others, using chakra as a conduit, a basic technique allows users to see in the dark is the cat eyes sensory technique. That leaves Iryujutsu, something he wanted to become proficient in. This used chakra to heal others from wounds both large and small, identify and treat poisons and even benefit the body in undesirable ways, the basic technique - Healing Hands uses this basis to heal.

Cho moved onto the second question, thinking for a moment before he started, thankfully the first question allowed the examinee to describe each one. Iryujutsu sat with his skill set, he had ideas of grandeur that would be impacted by Spacetime Jutsu, so the two was difficult to choose between. Cho wrote about the impact of Iryujutsu on the Ninja world and how it influenced wars in the past. He hoped he would do the same. His plan to get there was to heal others, travel around the country of fire to get first hand experience in helping, by helping the masses he would gain their trust, he didn’t write about it but by becoming trusted as a leader, as a healer and one who cared for the masses - recovering Iwagakure would be a lot smoother with there support.

Cho closed his pages and waited for the exam to end.

Tenko turned back into her normal form when Nokino said so undoing the transformation technique. Nokino gave comments to each student giving praise to the ones able to perform the technique well with some being able to do it one-handed, one student was scolded for not being able to show a hand sign and for something about Iwagakure, Nokino then dismissed the class and Tenko went home in a fairly good mood by her standards, such a good mood that for once there wasn’t an argument between her and her father over something dumb.

Sometime later..

Another day, another class. Tenko slid the door to the room open, she had a smile on her face ready for what she assumed was going to be another practical test. She saw the exam papers and that warm happy smile vanished completely and she became stonefaced and her eyes narrowed as she took her seat.

“ Morning Nokino Sensei “ she greeted back to the smoking teacher with the teensiest hint of annoyance as Nokino started passing around the exam sheets “ Thank you “ she’d say making brief eye contact with the Iburi teacher who passed her the sheet. She sat upright and took a deep breathe “ Ok let’s get this done. “ she’d mumbled as she gripped her pencil and began writing.

Ninjutsu

Ninjutsu is the most common speciality, it is the act of manipulating a person’s chakra and using hand sign moulding that chakra to perform techniques. There are two main forms of Chakra moulding, Nature Transformation and Shape Transformation, the former being the ability to imbue one’s chakra with one of the elements, and the latter being the ability to mould chakra into specific shapes or imbuing objects with Chakra.

An example of Ninjutsu is Wind Release: Quiet Footsteps, this Jutsu envelops its user’s feet with wind chakra effectively muffling and trapping sounds and vibrations and slowly vented to make the user almost silent.

Genjutsu

Genjustu is the act of manipulating people’s perception of reality through the use of illusions ranging from a simple changing of an objects colour to outright subjecting a target to a nightmare. Most Genjutsu can be broken via the Genjutus release technique or through another person making physical contact with the victim and imparting some chakra to them.

An example of Genhutsu would be the Hell Viewing Technique which by making eye contact with the target the user can subject them to their greatest fear even if the victim is not aware of that fear.

Taijutsu

Taijutsu is the act of fighting using hand-to-hand combat relying on one’s physical strengths to perform feats such as causing severe damage or to maneuver around.

An example of Taijutsu would be the Tsuri-goshi technique which is a technique involving intercepting an opponent's attack and turning their momentum against them by throwing them to the ground.

Kugujutsu

Kugujutsu is the act of manipulating special chakra threads to manipulate special constructs called puppets. What can be accomplished by this speciality is mostly determined by the type of puppet used making it quite versatile if also a difficult speciality.

An example of Kugujutsu would be the Puppet Flicker technique which is a variant of the Body Flicker technique allowing the puppet to gain a quick burst of speed.

Fuinjutsu

Fuinjutsu is the act of manipulating chakra to form seals for several purposes such as sealing objects into a scroll to be transported easily, locking things away like a restricted room, creating traps or placing a seal on a person or object and keeping track of them should the user be skilled enough.

An example of Fuinjutsu would be the Basic Sealing Technique which when used with a scroll can seal objects or weapons inside the seal to be withdrawn later when needed.

Iryojutsu

Iryojutsu is the act of healing wounds through the use of chakra, those skilled in this speciality are known as Medical-nin. It’s possible to extract poisons from someone through the use of this speciality as well as some skilled medics being able to operate without having to open the body up through the use of a Chakra Scapel.

An example of Iryojutsu would be the Chakra Anesthesia technique in which the user of this technique covers their fingers in chakra with the aim to dull the pain of another so they can continue whatever it is they were doing for a bit longer without being held back by the pain.

Kanjutsu

Kanjutsu is the act of detecting chakra through the use of chakra. Through the use of this skill, a person can detect and even recognize chakra signatures from a variety of ranges. Kanjutsu practitioners can also suppress or mask their chakra signature to avoid detection.

An example of Kanjutsu would be the Cat Eyes Technique in which the user gathers chakra into their eyes which helps them see ambient light and see in darkness.

Bukijutsu

Bukijutsu is the act of using weapons, tools and weapons and gaining a deeper knowledge regarding those things. Nearly everyone has some ability in Bukijutsu ranging just from Shuriken throwing to becoming a master swordsman. Some people spend their entire lives mastering a single weapon or tool. Some can infuse their weapons and armour with chakra to enhance or gain special properties such as adding the Lightning element to a kunai to increase its cutting power

An example of Bukijutsu would be the Shadow Shuriken Technique which combines the Shadow clone technique alongside a shuriken to create multiple shurikens to overwhelm an enemy.

Jikujutsu

Jikujutsu is the act of manipulating chakra to teleport, summon or phase through solid objects. The most common Jikujutsu is the summoning technique which is used by nearly all Ninja.

An example of Jikujutsu would be the summoning technique which pulls a being or object through space via the use of a special seal. In the world there are animals that Ninja can form contracts with which can then be summoned through this technique.

Tenko took a brief break to crack her neck and fingers before moving on to the second question.

As a Sarutobi we have the natural ability to learn all of the basic elements if given enough time and learn the advanced Ash element, It would make the most sense to specialise in Ninjutsu to make the greatest use of my Sarutobi blood. That being said Bukijutsu also appealed to me ever since I watched my mother practise with her giant folding fan which I have also begun using.

I think though that Ninjutsu suits me best with Bukijutsu being a secondary speciality. I hope to combine both skills and create a truly unique style.

And with that, Tenko placed her pencil on the desk and flipped the exam paper over signifying that she had finished. She then in typical Tenko fashion rested her head on her hand looked out the window until class was over.

As everyone brought back their copies, Nokino clones picked them up and brought them toward her desk. The exam was done in barely 2 hours, meaning that the rest of the day was theirs to do what they wanted. As she briefly looked over the copies to see each pedigree and answers of the students, Nokino smiled, knowing that this class was quite promissing, filled with talents and hidden gems. Some of them had the potential to be legends amongst shinobi. That fact made her proud to be their teacher.

'' 'aight class! Listen up! Well done on the Mid-terms, your answers were quite good. Im proud to see progress, but dont let it get to your head. Tomorrow is the first time we will spar and fight, so be prepared, 'aight? For today, you can have the rest of the day to yourselves. Enjoy the break, go train or get energy for tommorrow! See ya!'' Said Nokino to the class, oppening the door with a clone before dispeling them, allowing the students to run away and enjoy the rest of their day.

This was it! The day of sparring. Nokino got ready and brought to school a large duffle bag filled with bandages and kunai. As she arrived almost late, she entered the class that was this time already full of students, dropping the heavy bag on the desk and adressing the whole class.

''Mornin' class! Today is the great day that we fight! We will make our way to the arena at the center of the village, so bring all of your backpacks and scrolls as well as your lunch!'' Said Nokino, gathering the students and never even sitting at her desk in this active day of school. As she led the group out of the class, into the corridors of the academy and into the streets of the village to arrive at the arena, Nokino could hear the gossip of students excited about this class, and it made her smile trough her cigarette. Fighting was one of the most exciting things for shinobis, and this would be no different. Of course it would be the basics, but still it was their first fight ever!


As they stopped in the middle of the arena, nokino gathered their attention by whistling loudly. '' 'Aight class! Everyone by pair of two. I will name everyone and you duel with the other name I called out. Only basic strikes and jutsu, no injury if possible. Since we are not an even number in the class, I will be the sparing partner of one of you all. I will still be watching you all and giving you advices and critiques on the way you fight!'' Said loudly Nokino. As the iburi sensei started to list names, Cho and Tenko were paired together and it seemed that Suraida was the last one, so he was paired with Nokino. '' 'aight all pairs are done so lets fight!'' Added the tall woman.

As she and Suraida faced each other 20m appart, Nokino made the seal of confrontation, a honorable sign before starting a fight. She stood on her guard, waiting for Suraida to attack, as she wanted to give him the first move of the combat before reacting.

For the most part the midterms seemed to go well for Suraida as he gave a small sigh and picked up his pack as soon as the teacher dismissed everyone and sent them home. He followed all his fellow classmates out of the room and the building as he rubbed his head and blinked his eyes in order to get used to the sun shining in his eyes. He would then meet with Sakurai and go over the events that he had went through in the thread One Last Session Before Examination.

It was that kind of day again: Too damn bright. As the ninja in training exited his apartment and made his way to the academy as he took in the fresh air and rolled his shoulders, sore from carrying his backpack everywhere these days, all while entering the halls of the academy he had been attending for a couple of months and a few weeks. As he entered the classroom he'd just been in yesterday to take his midterms in he could see right away that the teacher was standing up instead of sitting behind her table which gave Suraida concern that they were in store for yet another activity of some kind. He would thus keep standing himself beside his desk in case his intuition was wrong as he waited for the rest of the class to come in. It wouldn't be long as his thoughts were answered and she told them all that they were going to be going to an arena... to fight. 'Oh you gotta be kidding.' he thought to himself as he looked around the room and wondered if he was going to be fighting someone within the group or someone else. 'Oh well... Nothing to do for it but to do my best no matter what it is.'

He would follow the teacher and the class over to the arena as told as he would place his pack somewhere out of the way of any potential danger from the sparring that was about to occur. Once everyone had made it to the center of the arena it would be announced that students would spar with each other in pairs. He looked around the field at the other students and wondered who he was going to wind up having to fight against as the pairs were made by another teacher who called out multiple names but his own... At least until he was the very last name called. He looked over to Nokino upon realizing what that meant as he tried to keep a calm composure but inside he could feel his nerves tingling. 'Typical!' he thought to himself as he took his position about 20 meters away from the teacher. 'I'm the one who draws the short straw and gets paired with the sensei? I'm going to wind up looking like a chump!' He took in a deep breath in order to calm himself as he took his hands out of his pockets and brought up his left hand in order to form the confrontation seal as Nokino-sensei did. He would also give a bow as he did all while keeping a level head. "I look forward to learning how to spar from you, Nokino-sensei." he said as he observed his opponent a bit while as he kept the seal of confrontation. 'She's a bit taller than me and looks quite strong.' he thought to himself as he got into a fighting stance with his right hand beside his pouch in case he needed to pull a weapon out. 'I don't really have anything I can use offensively in a long range situation... except maybe...' his mind wracked around a bit trying to think of how to go about this all while making certain he kept an eye on Nokino just in case she did something.

He would reach into his pouch behind his back and draw out a smoke bomb and a kunai. With a deft flick of the wrist he would toss the smoke bomb down to his feet enveloping his body and a good 3 meters in radius around him. He had a plan that he would hopefully be able to capitalize with this moment but he had no idea if it was going to work.
