Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

Deep Web Hitman: Koi

======

It was a perfectly normal, somewhat overcast day in the streets of Kirigakure no Sato. In the distance, the cry of gunsong mixed with the rustling of palm trees and the creaking of wheeled carts moving back and forth. Today, a not too inconsiderable amount of boats have made it to shore and have unloaded their contents- making it not only a busier day than usual, but also an amazing day to shop. Travel means trade, and trade means that the marketplace is booming.

Walking down one of the main market roads, a 25 meter wide causeway to allow vehicles through while also accommodating foot traffic and multiple market stalls on each side stretching about 50 meters before branching out into T-Section, Kikuko would hum a jaunty little tune as she would survey the sights in front of her. Clothing, spices, food, toys, and even a few jewelery stands. What to sample? She wasn’t quite sure, and today felt more than a little whimsical. Somehow, she got the idea that today was going to be an interesting day- she just hadn’t found out how yet.

Pausing ten meters to the left of the left side of the streetway, facing the buildings Kikuko would peek at a fruit stand 5m in front of her with curiosity. Maybe there was dragonfruit? She hadn’t had any in a while…

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

The Opposition :

Island country, it'd been a while since Riko had gotten a hit taking her out to the tropical climes. The prospect couldn't help but put a smile on her face. It was a simple mission, really more of a scare job. A scare job where she was a disposable asset, as usual, so that didn't stop her from enjoying the trip.A veritable. Walking in from the south entrance, the base of the T shaped configuration, Riko was whistling a bit of a soft tune. Taking out a compact enough film camera and grabbing snap shots of the stalls and markets north down the isle.

Kikuko Hayashi, Chunin, at least of the time she was getting the assignment and currently browsing casually all the way on the other end. About fifty meters away from her. Right next to the entrance docks that completed the T formation of the marketplace. Ten meters in length starting from where the road splits into two opposite directions, the first five meters past the road being made of solid stone, and the last five being wooden planks, past that being open water.

Continuing further north, she walks twenty five meters, taking pictures of the stalls and buildings as she goes with a slight smile on her face, while keeping ten meters away from the left wall. Now she had to survive this job, otherwise she'd never get to develop these photos. Snickering to herself before heading five meters to the left, leaving her knapsack in the care of a stall owner for a small sum of Ryo, before heading back five meters to the right. Taking up a casual look as she continues heading north, going up another ten meters while weaving the handseals for Rain Tiger at Will at full speed. By the time she'd finished weaving and gone back to a casual position, dark rain clouds would already begin forming overhead at the jutsu's speed, before a heavy downpour starts

Ah, no. No, no, no. Bad Kikuko! Certainly, she wanted dragonfruit, but that was clearly her stomach talking more than anything else. It was getting close to lunchtime, and she had barely eaten all day. Now, where to sate herself…

Roughly two meters to her right and against the wall she was facing the doors to The Proud Oxen stood- hardy, expensive looking wood with paper windows. She had never gone there, but had heard that they had good barbecue in the past. Maybe it would be good for her to try some? Stepping into the 20m high building through the front entrance, she would take in the interior.

Roughly 40 meters wide both ways, and decorated by a series of booths and a large bar counter on the right wall (10 meters long, starting at the farthest end), she would claim a stool at the relatively empty bar at about the midway mark. After a moment she would note that the restaurant was decidedly busy for the time of day- before waiting for her order. Hungry…

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

Thu Dec 16, 2021 1:37 pm
It was definitely weird. The rain was laced with her chakra and still this ninja didn't seem alarmed or even worried. Was it normal for people to use jutsu to make it rain. It was confusing but part of her wondered if maybe this was a ploy to lure her into a trap. Her blood pumping as she enters the same building as Kikuko. It came as a bit of a shock as there wasn't a trap waiting. Dripping with rainwater she heads over to the same bar as Kikuko, sitting at the edge of the bar, five meters to Kikuko's right. Ready for some kind of sudden attack or ambush.

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

The bar that the two kunoichi were sitting at was somewhat crowded- an older man and a younger woman, likely his daughter, sitting between them while sharing drinks together. Nothing like a mid day lunch to get out the tedium. Sitting at roughly the 2.5m mark, they would serve as an impromptu barrier between the hunter and her prey. As for the prey, meanwhile.

Immediately upon taking the seat five meters from Kikuko, her passive chakra senses would tingle- the feeling of another person with highly developed chakra extremely close by to her. Another shinobi? Stealing a glance from across the bar, she would note the figure- specifically, her bright red hair. She had never seen somebody with that shade before, but it was certainly a striking look. Perhaps another village ninja? It wasn’t uncommon that an off duty personnel would choose to forego their headband. Giving her a cursory nod of greeting, she would turn back to waiting for her food if otherwise unhindered.

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

Wed Dec 29, 2021 12:43 am
Riko begins whistling as she calls over for a beer, nodding back at Kikuko, a casual tune to let her whistle the seals needed for Sticky starch. She knew everything about to come up was going to come fast and hard, mentally steeling herself for the moment.

Just before she completes the final seal for sticky starch Syrup, she activates Uzumaki's Resolve. Adamantine sealing chains erupting from her body. The first from the forehead, the second and third from behind her left and right knees respectively, the fourth from her chest, the fifth from her left elbow, and the sixth from the nape of her neck, and the seventh and eighth from the back of her hands. At the same time she  spits on the bar top in front of her, and quickly slides back off her chair to a standing position, turning to the left and facing the west wall to finally go on the offensive.

The first chain will go up above Kikuko by about two meters and place itself about four meters above the ground and two meters from the north facing wall, the one Kikuko referred to as the wall on the right. The second chain will be behind her current position by two meters and one meter above the floor. The third chain will be two meters above the second chain. The fourth chain will come directly from Riko’s chest and go to try and directly make contact with Kikuko’s chest, following her movements, unlike the other chains and moving through anything in its way, civilian or otherwise. The fifth chain would move in the vertical gap between the second and third chain but instead of being behind two meters it would be behind her by one meter instead. The sixth chain moved to the same height as the first chain, but moved to be one meter from the northern wall, while the seven and eighth chain extended to a  their full length but instead of moving towards Kikuko, they were coiling together into a circle in front of her, a sort of impromptu shield covering most of her height. All the chains moving towards Kikuko would continue going forward towards the west wall, where the other side of the bar ends, until reaching ten  meters, where they would stop and hold their positions.

As this was all going on, Riko was weaving even more hand seals, in between the space that the chains were moving and the starch syrup was hitting the bar top and expanding, finally following up with all the hand seals needed to create the minus field. The wave of chakra expanded from her. All of these actions take the air of calm into one of chaos near instantly as she acts at high speed.

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

Thu Dec 30, 2021 11:08 pm
There was something to be said about Kikuko’s danger instincts- and perhaps her lack of them, given the current situation- but immediately after the identified girl began to whistle, all of her instincts would blaze up. There was something wrong about this situation- the sudden whistling, the brief flicker of her eye contact. Something was about to go wrong, she could tell. So, she would need to move. Quickly.

Standing up abruptly from her chair as soon as the other girl nodded back during her whistle, Kikuko would form with her left hand the four seals required for the Shadow Clone Jutsu, two puffs of smoke forming two meters from her so that they were directly between her and the attacker- each standing shoulder to shoulder. The two Clone-kuko’s would immediately begin to draw in Nature Chakra from the surroundings, and also scare the civilians who would begin to react and flee given what appeared to be a strange confrontation between the two women. Due to the two Shadow Clones blocking sight of Kikuko, the assailant would be unable to aim any attacks directly for the Kunoichi due to her line of sight now being blocked.

Simultaneously to the formation of her two Shadow Clones, Kikuko would reach to the power of her dimensional connection. Should any of the attacks sail forward and towards her, as soon as they entered within 2m of her range she would partially phase out of reality, allowing only her arms to remain in sync with the physical world so that attacks would harmlessly pass through her body.

“Everybody out!” The Clone-Kikuko closest to the bar would yell.

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:42 am
With an empty expression Riko watches as Kikuko acts, ultimately she was just a little faster, letting her act just a bit before them. The adamantine sealing chains colliding with both clones and banishing them. It was unfortunate they were two meters away, as they were banished at the same time Kikuko activated her phasing technique, the nature chakra had been lost in the process, even as their energy returned to them. It was a bit strange that they decided to go on a lukewarm offensive. The clones didn’t do anything but stand there. Since she’d already seen her movements and she was within range of Riko’s chakra sensory as well it wasn’t difficult to keep track of them. Leading to an issue where Riko had remained unhindered, the only hitch being that as all Kikuko had done was phase, now Riko’s adamantine chain was phased through her chest, floating there. Still an advantageous position but odd.

Odder was that Riko couldn’t sense any part of Kikuko with chakra sensory except for her arms. The girl was here, at least visually but besides her arms she couldn’t ‘sense’ Kikuko. Which meant chances are some way or somehow those other parts of her body weren’t there. Which is when it clicked. She was somehow phasing through the chains with her body and if the part of her she couldn’t sense was immaterial, there was a good chance that the parts she could sense weren’t.

Now the second, third, and fifth chain would be the ones to move. Though Kikuko wouldn’t see them moving, facing Riko as she was. The sections of the chain behind Kikuko would be what shifts, using all the available length they had already extended. It limited their ability to extend freely but still…

They would move in unison, bending at the chain segments a few inches behind Kikuko to swing for the arms. The fifth chain would swing in a long line segment using the length allowed to follow and strike Kikuko’s elbows. Having enough length to do so to go across her entire bodies width. The second chain would do similar to the fifth, but instead would aim for both of her wrists, while the third went for the upper forearms just below where the elbows would be with the same method as the second and fifth. Keeping her fourth chain moving to make sure its placement was still going through her chest.

(OOC: Claiming the hit on both clones and the chain movement since none of the actions involved forced me to stop my movements or adjust particularly. They’re still within chakra sensory range and even then it’s dubious that having a couple of people standing in front of you would completely obscure your entire body from sight at a range of 5 meters. Since the phasing is activated at the same time the clones are struck, the nature stacks would be lost as well.)

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

Sat Jan 01, 2022 3:50 pm
Posting here for a BM just to clear up some confusions I have. According to Yuri's post, Kikuko doesn't receive nature stacks due to partial phasing. Does it say that occurs somewhere? I understand that during phasing, a character is statistically stunted- however, it was not her who gathered Nature Chakra, but the clones. By that logic, didn't she just lose 1000AP as well?

Also, on a side note, Shadow clone possesses less seals than the Adamantine Chains- specifically 4 to 6. Given the comparison of Kikuko's speed to Yuri's, she's able to get off 4.5 seals to 6 seals- meaning that the creation of the shadow clones cannot happen after or simultaneously to the chains. Is Yuri capable of claiming the hit, or must she respond to their creation?

(Please do bear with me, I'm unused to asking for calls. I'm mostly confused myself.)

Fish in a Barrel [Hunter] Empty Re: Fish in a Barrel [Hunter]

Sat Jan 15, 2022 7:54 am
Ok, so the issue of Nature stacks is irrelevant because the clones were not in a state to gather the stacks in the first place. "To enter gather Nature Chakra, one must enter a meditative state (Sitting and completely still; jutsu cannot be used or maintained in this state). For every post the user meditates, they gain access to two stacks of Natural Chakra. Shadow Clones and other such variants can gather Natural Chakra for the user and are limited to only gathering and storing one charge of Natural Chakra. Only two clones may be undergoing the gathering/meditating process and can only transfer the Natural Chakra to the user by dispelling."

As we can see here you have the clones standing and not in a meditative state "two puffs of smoke forming two meters from her so that they were directly between her and the attacker- each standing shoulder to shoulder"

As for whether the clones are then hit I would agree with the hit claim, the fact that you create the clones quicker than the sealing chains is exactly why they are hit. Ap returning to the user from clones is not a passive gain so you also get your ap back.

In summary, no nature stacks, clones hit and ap restored to the user, round 2 fight on.
