Lyoid was just finishing breakfast when his father appeared out of nowhere. “Hey, you’re going to the training grounds today, right?” He asked. “Yeah.” “You should get going. Your mother is making our favorite meals for dinner tonight!” “You mean the—“ “Yeah, I do.” Lyoid finished his breakfast and picked up his backpack and put it on. “Well, I’ll get going then. See you later.” Lyoid walked out the front door into his captivating village which he has seen many times. He had to go to the training grounds. Passing by a few people and waving. It’s the routine. He approached the training gate which led into a mossy rock platform surrounded by trees. A vast open space full of history of past battles and achievements lied here. Lyoid took a glance at the great scenery and then sat down. From his backpack, a scroll emerged as he pulled it out. Unrolling the scroll, Lyoid began to read it aloud to himself. “Genin Preparation. Before taking the Genin exams, an academy student must know the following. The clone and transformation justu.” He silently read the rest. It contained a full tutorial of how to perform said Justus. Lyoid got up and cast the backpack and scroll to his side. A strong gust of wind rolled along the clearing. His hair danced in swirling air. He got into his stance. He would first master this clone justu. He stood in his stance breathing slowly in and out. Attempting to stabilize himself before stabilizing his chakra, he held perfectly still. His focus reached a point where no noise could be heard. No wind could be felt. No power could be misused. Lyoid began focusing on his chakra now. Trying to feel every channel of chakra within, he mentally ran through every inch of his body in his mind. Now he could feel it. He tried performing the hand seals that he read earlier. With his hands he made. Ram. Snake. Tiger. Nothing at all happened. With slight hint of annoyance, Lyoid tried again. Ram. Snake. Tiger. Still nothing occurred. Had he missed something simple? He reread the scroll. In tiny print, there was a text that he missed. It read “imagine splitting and growing back the half.” “Weird way to put it” Lyoid thought to himself. He repeated all of his procedures from earlier. The wind picked up more now requiring more concentration. Again. Ram. Snake. Tiger. He closed his eyes in hoping that when he opened them a clone would be there. Lyoid released the seal of his eyelids over his vision. He looked to his left first. Finally! A clone of Lyoid stood to his left. He looked to his right and surely enough there was another. Lyoid stood directly up and so did they. He then attempted throwing a punch and doing a slight front-flip. They copied it exactly. The weird thing was that they didn’t have a shadow. He threw a shuriken at both of them. They again copied him, but the shurikens that they threw were just an illusion and did no physical damage to Lyoid. When Lyoid’s real shurikens hit the clones, they disappeared in a ball of smoke. Lyoid was having fun with messing around with his clones when suddenly he stopped. He felt a presence nearing him. Something was near him but just out of his vision. He looked around the training ground’s clearing. There it was. A large spider. Lyoid shrieked back and almost fell. It was about ¼ of his own size. It was just slowly walking to him as if mocking him. Lyoid couldn’t let the thing touch him. Lyoid thought in his mind for a solution. He didn’t feel like leaving yet and he didn’t want to get touched by the thing. Lyoid flipped backwards and high jumped into a tree on the edge of the clearing. He was concealed now. He performed the clone justu once more. Ram. Snake. Tiger. He only needed one this time, and he made exactly that many. Lyoid pushed himself against the log of the tree. Even though he wasn’t moving the clone still mimicked his movements moving forward into the clear while the real Lyoid awkwardly ran into a tree. Once the clone was in place, the spider began walking to him thinking that it was Lyoid. Lyoid still had the scroll on him for his justu. He pulled it out again and began reading over it once more. It stated that the transformation justu should be significantly harder than the clone. It also stated he would need to maintain the form and that that would use chakra. Lyoid stabilized himself as he had done before. He then performed the required hand seals. He wanted to transform into something that would scare away the spider like a snake, but Lyoid remembered that you can’t transform into something nonhuman. He thought to himself again. What’s the closest human that looks like a spider? Well, that would have been his sensei of course. The spider was getting closer to the clone. Lyoid had to move fast. After performing the hand seals nothing happened or altered with him. Perhaps, his chakra wasn’t stable enough. He’d had to current just enough and not too much at the same time. He tried once more. Dog. Boar. Ram. He felt a change this time. Something like the air shifting around him. He pulled a kunai from his side pouch and held it in front of his face. Reflecting back was an image of his sensei. Lyoid was successful, but the scroll was right. This did put a strain on the user. He also had a clone out. The spider was in front of the Lyoid clone now. It tried to bite the clone and soon realized the clone was an illusion and had no shadow. Lyoid dismissed the clone. Struggling to keep his form, Lyoid dived down in front of the spider. As he landed, dust rolled beneath his feet. Hanging above the spider in his sensei’s form, He stood tall now. The spider looked up and began backing away. It paused right at the tree-line. Almost as if to say, I’ll be back. Once it was gone, Lyoid released his transformation. He felt quite tired afterword. It was quite an eventful day. He learned two justu and defeated his eternal foe
(the spider) once more. Lyoid picked up his backpack and put the scroll back in. He remembered what his dad said earlier. Hoping he didn’t miss dinner, Lyoid sped home.
