Bai had just gotten done dropping the grandma off and went to the woods to take a nap. He dreamt of his family and of the family he had just taken the grandma away from. He was jolted awake by a dog licking his face. Bai sat up and watched as the dog began to lead him away into the woods. The dog led him to a dilapidated old shelter, the kennels were falling apart and needed repairs. A man comes up and offers Bai a reward for fixing up the place. The building was in such bad shape that it was almost uninhabitable. He set to work fixing up the shelter. He started by painting the walls and repairing the roof, which he could tell had been leaking for months. He then installed new kennels, which were spacious and comfortable for the animals. Bai even used his carpentry skills to build a cat tree and a doggy door to the backyard, which gave the animals more space to play and explore. The door had to be made almost 4 feet tall and across because of the sheer size that some of the dogs were. A particular pooch took a liking to Bai and tried to jump on his head any chance he got. Whether pounding nails or resting if he found Bai there would be a wrestling match for the ages. The dog was fluffy with a black and white coat, like an oversized border collie. The old man said that he was still growing, only a few months old.

One of the biggest challenges Bai faced was the outdated plumbing system. The shelter had been built decades ago, and the pipes were old and corroded. Bai replaced the pipes and installed new fixtures throughout the building. This was a major undertaking, but it was essential to ensure that the animals had clean water to drink and a safe and sanitary environment to live in. Bai installed new windows and doors, which helped to keep the building warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They also added insulation to the walls and roof, which helped to reduce the effects of the elements on the shelter as well as keep it a more livable temperature year around.

After several weeks of hard work, the shelter was transformed into a bright and welcoming place for animals in need. Bai felt proud of what he had accomplished and knew that many animals would find loving homes. The old man gave him his ryo and offered to let Bai take a dog with him. He picked the young dog that seemed healthy and had good teeth. It was only a few months old but way already almost 3 feet tall. He and Bai had wrestled often while he was staying at the kennel repairing it and they had grown close. Bai had slept using the dog as a pillow the last few nights and his neck hadn’t felt this good in years.
