How would you like to make some money?
Saturn's message began crudely with no salutation, and cut right to the chase.
I am sure that you have been made aware of the sighting of old man Bumi. He seldom visits the village, but his arrival presents an unrivalled opportunity for all shinobi who have the ryo to pay him for his scrolls. I am sure that you are also aware that his rates have increased this year, perhaps as a result of inflation. As such, we have no time to waste in acquiring as much ryo as we can, to acquire as many scrolls as we can before he closes shop - if your goal in this regard is the same as mine.
His proposal was delivered by ravens, but he did not use any paper to convey his message. Instead, he possessed the minds of ravens and sent them out to search for his acquaintances. Along with two shadow clones, he dispersed to various areas within the village to search for the ones he sought to recruit. He hid behind dumpsters in back alleys, and in bushes to hide his presence while the ravens perched on windowsills and branches next to their targets to communicate to them telepathically. Each of his recruits received the same exact lengthy message. He hoped that his little show would woo and compel his fellow Genin to join him. After all, they would likely not be aware of his ability, and would not suspect that he was responsible for gathering them.
I have compiled a list of missions directly from the directory. These missions are professional missions. They pay more than regular missions of the same rank, but they have special requirements and require us to do just a little more work. The special requirements in question are in relation to specialties, specifically. For this purpose, I have compiled B rank missions that require specialists of Taijutsu, Ninjutsu and Sensory types. Should we complete these missions as a group, the full party can reap the rewards as a whole. In this way, we can secure more funds to pay Bumi, or wherever else your interests may lie at this point in time. Crossword puzzles, maybe? Salty sprays, perhaps? Or a new pan...
The raven cleared its throat, catching itself rambling telepathically,
Anyway, if you're interested in collecting a pay of about 27,000 ryo - maybe more if you bring your charms - assemble at the village gates at dawn where I will present to you the mission details. Don't forget to take a shower, and brush your teeth as well!
Saturn checked the time on his pocket watch as he took the last drag from his spliff and stubbed it on the floor, stomping on it to extinguish its flames. He was clean shaven and on time for their arranged rendezvous. That is, if his message got through to his recruits. If there was one thing he knew about Kumon shinobi, it was that they liked getting paid. He was optimistic that the odds were in his favor. Regardless, he brushed his teeth thoroughly as he intended to show his pearly whites to the contractors he was going to meet today. His beloved presence that compelled his clients to pay him double was the result of deliberate actions on his own part. He hoped his peers would follow his lead as well, so that his pay may not be cut in half on their accord.

After a series of some crazy missions that involved bandits, giant mutant trees, giant skunks, fake haunted mansions, creepy old people and ghosts from the past, the genin wanted some peace for a change. He was meditating on the roof of his house, feeling the cold breeze of the mountainous Kumogakure no Sato right on his skin when a noisy raven arrived, breaking Jun’s concentration. The bird carried a message in his claws, which he dropped when right above the blond shinobi. Jun easily caught the scroll in midair and opened it, kind of curious of who was breaking his peace.
“How would you like to make some money?

That language, that handwriting… before he even finished the message, Jun already knew that it was the flamboyant shinobi known as Saturn who was inviting him to make some money by doing some B-Rank missions. The young Shibasaki then layed down on the roof of his house while he mulled over his fellow genin's proposal. On the one hand, Jun was a bit drained after his last few missions and would like some chilling and training. On the other hand, money was always welcome and the possibility of buying jutsu scrolls with Bumi and thus learning new jutsus was tempting. After some brief self-brainstorming, he decided he would quit being lazy and would accept Saturn’s proposal.
Jun climbed down from the roof right into his bedroom through his window and started preparing to meet the eccentric Ninja at the Village’s Gate at dawn. He would put on his traditional clothing: his baggy black sweatshirt with the Shibasaki clan symbol (The Shibasaki Sun) printed in the back area, in addition to black cargo pants with two pockets on each side, and all-black sneakers. He packed some kunai and shuriken and left for the village gates after saying farewell to his mother.
After some minutes of walking, Jun arrived at the village’s gate, and for his surprise, Saturn was already there waiting at the arranged rendezvous point, as he would normally just randomly show up via teleport out of nowhere.
- Greetings, Saturn. When are we leaving, and where to first?

"Yo. Looking sharp, Jun. What's wrong? Did you think I would put on a dazzling arrival?" Saturn smirked as he waved at his fellow Genin. His mouth was moving faster than his waving hand. After approaching Jun, he took out one of the scrolls that he had collected as part of their assignments for the day and opened it to show the details of one of the missions to the Shibasaki clansman. It was aptly named Bubble Trouble and required that the duo venture out to the village borders. Once there, Saturn's expertise in the sensory specialty would be tested to help a local settlement set up a sensory bubble. He used his index finger to show the fellow blonde the path that they had to traverse in order to reach the location.
"I asked a couple of others to join us, but it doesn't appear to be the case that either of them will be joining us. I had originally intended to cross out one more mission along the way, but that won't be possible without the help of someone with expertise in Taijutsu." He said regretfully, looking down briefly before letting his face gleam up when he looked back up into Jun's blue eyes with his own, "I would have made the trek alone but I figured it would be more fun as a group. Besides, with these ambushes that have been happening recently, I thought it would be better to have some backup in case something happens. That, and old man Bumi said he won't be around for much longer. I hope you've met him... Chef's kiss.." He kept rambling as he walked at a casual pace, hopefully with his fellow Genin, towards the borders.
"Do you have any experience with interior design?" Saturn would ask at one point, "I came across a gig, there's a client who wants to build a training facility back in the village. The pay was good, something like three thousand four hundred, no three thousand six hundred ryo! And I know you've taken after me in sucking up to these old suckers to get a little more every time.." He nudged Jun, not letting his mouth rest so as to pass the time as they made the journey, "The guy wants his facility to be 'elemental based', whatever that means. I'm assuming we're going to need someone who's fluent with Ninjutsu. I used to be big on Raiton but I gave that up for.. I don't remember.. Anyway. One step at a time, right?" He stopped to check if Jun was even listening at this point.

As soon as Jun arrived at the village gates and greeted Saturn, the flamboyant shinobi started rambling about the gigs he arranged in order to make some extra money and make the most of Bumi’s scrolls. Jun was kind of disappointed that Z and Moyasu wouldn’t be joining this time, as their help could be very useful, but still, they had plenty of time to make some extra money. As Saturn explained what would be required of the pair, he walked at a casual pace in the direction of the Lightning Country’s borders. There, they should help a local settlement set up a sensory bubble. Jun was very excited to visit the borders of his new country, as he did not even leave Kumogakure’s surroundings since his family migrated there many years ago. The young genin did not miss the time he and his family wandered as exiles through the Shinobi world, but he did actually miss seeing new landscapes and discovering new places.
Their second mission would require Jun’s ninjutsu expertise and some creativity in order to build a new elementally themed training grounds in Kumogakure.
- Interior design, what the hell is… - replied Jun when asked by Saturn, before being interrupted by the more than ever chattier Saturn.
They kept walking for some more hours at a regular pace, with Saturn rambling while Jun listened for most of the time. The young Shibasaki clansman wasn’t upset at all, but actually glad that his fellow genin did not simply teleport or vanished in a smoke cloud out of nowhere for a change.
Both genins finally arrived at their destination, near Kumogakure’s border with Frost country. The weather there was chillier and it was lightly snowing as winter was approaching.Tthe landscape was mountainous, not so different from the one seen in Kumogakure, but there were some valleys that could be seen from the place where the shinobi were, which was a high and strategic place for a sensory room that was supposed to scan and guard the borders. The actual sensory room was actually pretty destroyed and looked pretty old, but with the new Kage administration, Kumogakure military sensory division received a substantial budget increase and now had the resources to renovate their facilities across the nation.
There was an old man there, most likely the responsible for that specific sensor room, waiting for Jun and Saturn’s arrival, as he waived and greeted the genins as they arrived.
- Hello there, fellow shinobi. You both must be the consultants. I’m glad you’re both here! My name is Hiro Hasumo, and I’m the responsible for Lighting Country’s border sensory division! As you can both see, the former administrations weren’t so kind with my division, but as they say: new Kage, new times! So, you both have a lot of work to do, and please, feel free to ask me for anything you guys may need!
Jun had no proficiency whatsoever in Sensory, but he knew that Saturn was an expert in that matter so, for this first time, it should be the flamboyant ninja the one leading the party. As soon as old man Hiro left them both, Jun turned towards Saturn and told him:
- Lead the way bro, I really, really suck at Sensory. If it was not for my doujustu, I wouldn’t be able to detect a Rhino riding a skateboard coming towards us, so… after you.

"Interior, exterior, it's al the same. Don't worry about it, I'm sure you'll figure it out, Jun!" Saturn kept on rambling as the duo made their way to the border. As they passed the scenic valleys, the fortuneteller paused to watch a range of mountain peaks in the distance. Dione, I hope you're safe out there.. He prayed for the horse who had accompanied him to Kumogakure all the way from the Land of Fire. After helping the Genin find his footing in the village over the course of the better part of a decade, the mare had wandered off into the mountains on one unassuming cloudy day to never be seen again. While he missed his companion, he had come to accept that she had already fulfilled her role in his life. She laboured for hours to keep up with Saturn's work ethic when he worked menial jobs in order to afford food, and a flat in the town. She owed him nothing.
Saturn heeded the greeting from Mr. Hiro Hasumo as he extended his arm to give him a firm handshake, a glisten glimmering from his pearly whites as he showed off his smile, then glanced at Jun from the side to show him a wink - he was trying to get on the contractor's good side in hopes of getting paid a little extra as he always did with his beloved, trained presence. "Good evening, Hasumo san. My colleague Jun and I - I'm Saturn Sentobi by the way - will make sure that this sensory room is top notch! Give us a moment to examine the site thoroughly, and make our proposition that I am sure you will be extremely pleased to hear!" When the senior left the duo to their own devices, a maiden brought two hot cups of matcha tea for both the genins. "Pff, ha! A rhino on a skateboard!" Saturn snorted, laughing at Jun's joke almost choking on his cup of tea as he turned to thank the lady. He took another sip from his mug before stepping out of the facility a few steps from the old wooden door, overlooking a steep mountain cliff.
As he sparked a cigarette and sipped from his mug, he turned to Jun, "This place looks pretty shit, huh?" He commented, "The new Kage must be stepping up his game to renovate this site all the way out here.." He went on to repeat what the contractor had told them as he gazed out into the distance. Next to the site was a large reservoir, a cavity in the mountainous terrain filled to the brim with steaming hot water. Down below there was a wide flowing river, roaring as its currents crashed into rocks. "I heard rumors that the Twelfth is planning on conducting Chuunin Exams sometime soon. I've never heard of an event of that scale taking place in Kumogakure in the time I've been there. I heard that the Eleventh fared very well on one such occasion." As Saturn spoke to Jun, he made his way towards the reservoir and kneeled down to put his hand into the water. He waved his hand around, creating ripples on the surface before he tried to infuse Raiton into his palm, giving himself a slight shock before he jerked his hand away. He knew of at least one other shinobi who would be eager to follow in the path of the former Raikage and strive to achieve a good standing among the village by doing well in the exams. He was eager to match up against his teammate Goro. He sipped on his tea as he peered at Jun from over his mug, trying to check if his compatriot shared the same ambition, "If it's true.. Would you take part?"

Would you take part?"
"And that's how the water from the river will be carried upstream into the reservoir." Saturn rambled in circles as he explained his plan to the contractor in the worn down building, "We will need at least one watchman on duty of course, to make sense of it all, but if we go through with this plan you should expect to have a solid degree of surveillance on all the land that overlooks Frost from this side of the border, as far as the river flows." He pointed to squiggly lines he had drawn on a scroll with a pencil. A crooked blue line was meant to represent the small river that flowed into Gaikotsu Bay, "And when the chakra infused hot water from the reservoir enters the river, it creates steam that blends in perfectly with the fog, before trickling back down to the river." To Saturn, his plan made sense. He wasn't an expert in water release, but as he contemplated the workings of his sensory bubble he dove into the watery details and gained a keen interest in the art. "I'm sure the other sites have their own unique engineering, but we're working with limited resources here, Hasumo san. We gotta make do with what we got. We don't need to have any of the hard workers here go through another pay cut now, do we?" These words sold the idea to the client, who with his hands planted firmly on the old fungus ridden oak table looked at two of his undermen before nodding in agreement at Saturn and Jun.
The fortuneteller looked over at Jun and showed him a thumbs up, with an enthusiastic grin sliced across his bronzed cheeks. Wasting no time, he made his way back out towards the cliff, with his back towards the edge. "I'm going to go down to the river ad make sure everything works fine. As for you, do you think you could dive into the reservoir and use your laser eyes to carve a hole through the cliff from inside? We'd make like a big waterfall if you do it right!" With those hopeful words, he let himself fall backwards off the cliff, but not before making one last cheeky remark, "Let's get started, shall we?"

While Jun and Saturn inspected the current Sensory site, a maiden brought two hot cups of matcha tea for both the shinobis, which Jun politely thanked her for. And yes, the current state of the place was pretty shit, as Saturn stated. “How did the previous Kages could let such an important defense structure decay to that point?”. Knowing that the current Kage was actually investing into renovating Kumogakure defenses showed Jun that at least the current Kumogakure leader had good intentions. And the Shibasaki clansman was even happier when Saturn told him about the rumours of an upcoming Chunin Exam. In Jun’s mind, not only that was a great opportunity to rank up and evolve as a Ninja, but also it would place Jun against the best genin of the village, and perhaps this would finally satiate Jun's hunger for real combat.
- Yes, of course I’m taking part! What about you, Saturn? – replied Jun, when asked by the fortuneteller if he would be joining the exams.
They took another look at the site before entering the old building so that Saturn could explain his complicated – but effective – plan. For non-Shinobi that could have sounded as total bullshit, but in “shinobi” theory, it should work fine. Jun was insecure that perhaps the contractor would find all of that too complicated and would say a hard ‘no’, but somehow, using his charisma and just a tiny bit of “blackmail”, Saturn sold the idea to Hasumo san, who nodded in agreement at both genins.
Jun by himself wasn’t so sure what would be required of him in Saturn’s plan, but when they got outside, his fellow ninja explained his part: dive into the reservoir and use his Laser Eyes technique to carve a hole through the cliff from inside in order to make like a big waterfall... if he did it correctly.
- Say no more, I’ll get it done!
Just as Jun finished replying to Saturn, the fortuneteller did one final remark before letting himself fall backwards off the cliff, diving down to the river in a cheeky fashion. “Well, it took him long enough to do something Saturn style this time…”. And as the eccentric shinobi left, Jun got on his way to the water reservoir near the site, a cavity in the mountainous terrain filled with steaming hot water. The young shinobi used his skills to jump from rock to rock, dropping down to the reservoir’s level. With one final jump, he entered the reservoir area, activating the Surface Walking technique before making impact with the steaming water; The place looked like a sauna so moist and warm it was, and Jun started sweating like crazy, even having a greater resistance to heat for being a Shibasaki. “Gotta do this fast before I melt in here…”.
With no time to waste, he activated his Stage 2 Tengan, with his eyes starting to flow with huge amounts of Solar Chakra through it, turning them both into two small fireballs emanating pure solar chakra, becoming bright yellow in the center and orange at the extremities, with both eyes resembling in snake eyes in shape, emitting such a strong shine that it would almost light up all the reservoir. He looked into the direction that the hole should be made, and seeing through the reservoir wall with his thermal vision, he could see the river down the mountains in a dark blue color that greatly contrasted with the orange color emitted by the steaming water from the reservoir. Jun calculated the size the hole should have and marked the spot of the precise location of what should be the center of the hole by throwing a Kunai into the reservoir’s rock walls. ‘Serpent, Ox, Tiger, Bird, Ram and Dragon’. After doing the handseals, Jun’s Tengans started to shine even brighter, with loads of Solar Chakra being concentrated on both.
- Taiyōton: Rēzāaizu!
Jun then shot from both his eyes a powerful and blinding beam of pure, vaporizing Solar Chakra. It had a cylindrical shape and at first was very thin, only hitting right at the kunai tha Jun threw before to mark the spot. As soon as the kunai was vaporized and the beam hit the cave wall, Jun showed his mastery over Solar Chakra control by making the beam wider, reaching up to 15m in diameter before he stabilized its growth and held it on that size. In a few moments, the solid rock walls of the reservoir started to get red and red and very bright red as the solar chakra beam heated it, before completely piercing it. As a result, with this new gigantic hole, the water from the reservoir started dropping down through the mountains into the river direction, creating a beautiful steaming waterfall. Jun admired the visual beauty in the Tengan’s vision of the collision between the dropping hot water and the ice cold river water, before starting to climb back up to the sensory site to meet with the flamboyant shinobi, Saturn.

One did not have to be a Chuunin to know that the fall from the cliff would have been fatal. When Saturn told Jun of his plans to participate in the Chuunin Exams, he had been calculating the distance to the river from the cliff, and had summoned Yanyanma the dragonfly in advance to swoop down and catch him before he could meet with any injury when he eventually launched off the platform. Yanyanma was a rust colored brute with dark green eyes, a four winged specimen no less than fifteen meters in length. After landing on the ground next to the broad flowing river, Saturn quickly got to work to reenact the second part of his plan for the sensory bubble. He had to devise a method to transfer the cold water from the ground uphill into the reservoir in order to relay messages through chakra from the terrain through the right channels to the site on the mountain. For this, he planned to summon two large constructs on the body of the river to narrow the path of some of the flowing water into a convergent point.
Forming the seal of confrontation, the Genin summoned two large towering gates of Rashomon, each one standing no less than fifty meters high, twenty five meters wide, and five meters thick. The gates bore unique markings of Oni masks making different faces. While the markings could strike fear in the hearts of potential perpetrators, the presence of the walls would also act as a beacon marking the location of the site. Saturn deemed that this would be a disadvantage as the presence of the walls would help potential invaders to plan around their construct. A second dragonfly, Nokocchi was summoned. She was a brightly colored specimen with fangs and striking lemon and teal colored scales. Holding the Ram seal, Saturn used his hiden technique to communicate to his signed dragonfly telepathically, bypassing their language barrier while explaining the plan to the ten meter long summon. She would get to work quickly, using False Surroundings Technique to disguise the two towering gates of Rashomon as two large natural rock formations, blending in with the rest of the cliff. While this was a temporary measure, a border guard would have too perform the same technique while on duty to maintain the disguise.
After relieving Nokocchi of her duties, the Genin looked up at the cliff for any signs of Jun. She wandered around him, curious, choosing not to disappear into her realm. Striking luminous rays of light could be seen sparking up into the clouds as his colleague got to work. Saturn looked up in awe at the clouds as the bright orange lights lighting up the reservoir got refracted in the clouds to form a faint rainbow in the distance. If the duo was lucky, they would find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when their mission was completed and they were paid in full. When the water broke out from the face of the mountain, Saturn's face briefly glimmered in joy. It was rare to see him that excited about anything. The flowing hot water came crashing down to ground level, and the two gates of Rashomon disguised as two large rocks caught the newly created waterfall between their evenly spaced gap just as the fortuneteller had foretold. Hot steam plunged out from between the rocks when the hot water from the reservoir made contact with the water from the cold flowing river. A connection had been made. All that was left to do was to make a circuit. Dog. Saturn manifested two mark seals one on each of the gates. From aboard the spine of Yanyanma, Saturn looked up in the direction of an eagle that soared past and formed handseals in quick succession - Tiger, Snake, Horse, and the signature seal of the Yamanaka clan - to effortlessly captured the avian in his vice mental grasp.
The eagle landed on the contractor's oak table, inside the site. Its eyes shone in a luminous white light when it blinked. It was possessed. When Jun met with Hiro Hasumo at the site, Saturn from the eyes of the bird looked at the contractor, and then the Shibasaki clansman. Our work is almost done. Come down to the river and have a look. Outside the site, Yanyanma and Nokocchi would be parked next to each other, offering to ride the two Kumons down to the gates of Rashomon.

Jumping from rock to rock and using the surface walking technique for better adherence, Jun quickly reached the sensory site, and de-activated his doujustu. There was no sign of Saturn yet, and the weather was getting worst, so Jun reached for shelter and maybe some extra tea inside the Sensory Facility. There, the maiden graciously provided some extra matcha tea to the young genin. Jun decided to update the contractor, Hiro Hasumo, about the renovations and what was done so far. He gently knocked into Mr. Hasumo’s office:
- It’s Jun Shibasaki, Hasumo sama.
- Come, young shinobi.
As Jun entered the tiny, old office of Mr. Hasumo, and beautiful eagle came flying through the open window of the room and landed on the old oak table, scaring the contractor a bit who did a tiny jump out of his chair as he had no idea what the hell was happening… but Jun already suspected why that happened. Upon looking into the eagle’s eyes, his hypothesis was confirmed: it was indeed Saturn, who possessed the eagle and turned it into his messanger:
“Our work is almost done. Come down to the river and have a look “– said the eagle, with Saturn’s voice
- Don’t worry, Hasumo sama, my friend has unusual methods of communication and transport…
- Jeez he almost gave me a heart attack…
Jun and the contractor went outside and saw the two dragonflies, Yanyanma and Nokocchi, waiting for them both to fly down to the river level;
- I told you he had unusual methods when it came to transport…
- I…I’m not riding those!
- Come on Hasumo Sama, I’m sure my associate summoned a very safe creature for the great Head of Kumogakure Border Sensory Team… I’m 100% sure!
“Well, maybe 99% sure...”. The contractor hesitated for a while but then climbed onto Yanyama’s back, still a bit frightened. Jun climbed into the other dragofly’s back, e beautiful creature named Nokocchi. The duo had a very pleasant flight down to the river level…well, at least for Jun, as Hasumo sama looked terrified through the whole trip. Jun was amazed by the creatures that Saturn summoned, and as he recently just learned the Summoning Technique, the young genin now desired to have summons of his own.
After the short voyage, both Kumons arrived into the river level, and Jun realized that Hasumo sama was still shaking his legs after dropping from the dragonfly’s back. “I hope he still pays us in full…”. If Jun had any doubts, after the contractor examined the genin duo’s work, he was absolutely amazed.
- Wooow, look at the waterfall from the reservoir, carved from the inside! And look at these two large rocks strategically positioned to be convergent point! It’s marvelous! How did you move these gigantic rocks? What did you use as conductors?
“6th Raikage? That guy is old…”. While the contractor approached Saturn to understand, or try to at least, the shinobi science behind the new sensory structure, the young Shibasaki clansman was also admiring Saturn’s ingenuity. Jun quickly activated his Tengan in order to analyze the huge rocks that Saturn placed, and his doujutsu revealed what the rocks actually were: Demonic Rashomon Gates, disguised by some kind of jutsu to look as stones. A Space-Time technique, something that Jun also recently learned “That is a cool jutsu as well…”. Yes, Jun did his part, but this was all Saturn’s plan. Jun knew that still had a long way to go when it came to honing his skills and match Saturn’s, but he was determined to do it so, very determined. Jun contemplated the beautiful landscape around him, before he suddenly remembered something that could “facilitate” Jun’s evolution: Bumi’s Scrolls. He needed some extra money, so maybe they could do the interior design gig before Bumi departed.
- Yo, Saturn! Do you think your majestic Dragonflies can give us a ride back to the village so we can do one extra gig before Bumi leaves?

"I hope the ride down was not too bumpy, Mr. Hasumo. It would have been a long trek around the cliff." Saturn seemed apologetic as he patted Nokocchi. "You have Jun to thank for the waterfall." Saturn praised his colleague as he spoke to the contractor, "The rocks are a false image. I had hoped that you would not notice, as my Genjutsu is not the best. I think that keeping the rocks disguised would be better at not giving away our position to any potential infiltrators." Saturn touched the first rock and concentrated Raiton into his palm to send a current through to the water. "If we place two Mark Seals here, and have a sensory shinobi use Sense Seal near the reservoir, we can detect chakra signals that come from downriver, and from the mist in the area as well. For all intents and purposes of this site, I believe that this construct will be sufficient."
Hasumo scratched his beard as he inspected the rocks, touching it to see if he could sense that they were something else. "My old age must be catching up to me." He remarked. "Very well. You two have fulfilled your purpose. Join me up at the site and collect your reward. You're most welcome to spend as much time as you need at the facility to rest up and prepare for your journey back to the village." He gulped before approaching Yanyanma, trying to be brave in reminiscence of his youth. Reluctantly, he hopped back onto the dragonfly to fly back up. Saturn smiled and gave him a thumbs up to encourage him. "I'll see you both up there." He said, offering the beasts to the two others, he would figure out a way to beat them to the site on his lonesome.
After collecting a metal briefcase containing their reward, the duo was set to depart. The site was not particularly roomy, and Saturn had no intention of spending the night. It was getting dark, and storm clouds were looming. The time to move was now. "Of course. I forgot that I signed with them, we should have used them to come here." Saturn's voice cracked as he muttered, apologetically as he scratched the back of his head, "They're pretty cool, huh? I could introduce you to their scroll keeper if you'd like. He's kind of a hard ass who insists that I have to fight each dragonfly one by one before I can sign them. But I'll be honest, they're not that fast. We'll spend about the same time getting back with or without them.... But I suppose our legs could use some rest.... Before the next gig! Straight to the site, then." Saturn was enthusiastic about doing one more gig, he was having fun and he was glad that Jun seemed to share his work ethic. At least he had some company. However, most of his missions started with him complaining about how hard he had had to work some times. The two would take off on Yanyanma and Nokocchi once again, using their combined eight wings to zip past fields of tall conifer trees. Halfway into their journey, the sound of a loud thunderbolt piercing through the sky gave forth to a cascade of heavy rains. Saturn was used to getting drenched in storms. When he was a child, he used to fall sick afterwards but now he was adapted to the life in the mountains. For him, just like it was for most Kumon ninjas, it had become a normal part of life. Mimas, his octopus familiar who had been disguised as his knit cap, cuddled into his neck, shivering in the cold. "Oh, it was you. Where's my cap?" Saturn groaned at the octopus as they made their journey.
The two would pass the heavenly gates as they arrived at the site, on yet another cliff, and Saturn was surely drenched in water. It could be an advantage or a disadvantage, based on what kind of element the contractor was going for with his new training facility. The village was renowned to have quite a few such facilities called Advanced Training Facilities for all kinds of niches including specialties and elements. Saturn was equipped with the knowledge that the client wanted a Ninjutsu training area with an emphasis on elemental expertise, but he had not learned what element would be required. He did know, however, that Jun was versed in fire release. He himself was an amateur at best with lightning. That left the duo with at least two out of the five possible elements covered. It was a gamble, but even if the client mentions one of the other elements, Saturn was sure that they could figure out a way to execute a perfect bluff together.
Upon unmounting Yanyanma, Saturn rolled the edge of his top to soak some of the water out, and then did the same to his whole octopus - twisting Mimas like a towel. He looked at Jun, "Well? Do we look sharp?"

After collecting their reward for setting up the new sensory facility on Lightning Country’s Border, Jun and Saturn hopped on the dragonflies back to return back to the village. Indedd, the dragonflies where not that fast, but as Saturn mentioned, it would be good to give their legs some rest. Unluckily for the duo, halfway through their journey it started pouring some really heavy rain as the genins were caught in the middle of storm, something usual for that time of the year in the country.
When he as his family first moved to Kumogakure, the weather was something that Jun really hated about their new home. All the cold and the raining was kind of unfit for the Shibasaki bloodline, as they were raised and were used to warmer, sunnier climate. But as timed passed, Jun got more and more used to Kumo’s weather so he wasn’t bothered by the rain. After a few more time riding through the storm on Saturn’s summons back, the duo would finally pass through the Heavenly Gates of Kumogfakure, before arriving at their second gig’s site. It was a training facility located at yet another cliff. Jun was absolutely drenched in water, so he had an idea for some fast drying: “Bird, Hare, Snake, Dog, Ram, Ox, Dragon”.
- Taiyōton: Shōshin ōra!
Jun started expelling from every tenketsu of his body a constant stream of pure solar chakra, creating a cloak or a “aura” around the genin. While the solar chakra was harmless for Jun himself, its high temperatures quickly evaporated the water that soaked Jun’s clothes, while also protecting him from the rain, as the water would hit the cloak around him and evaporate instantly. Jun looked upon Saturn and saw that he was rolled the edge of his top to soak some of the water out, and then he did the same to his knit cap, that when twisted revealed to be an octopus! He twisted his familiar, Mimas, like a towel, before looking back at Jun.
- Woow, is that your familiar? He was disguised as your knit cap this whole time? Damn, you’re full of surprises, Saturn.
Suddenly, the doors of the training site behind Jun’s back opened, and a fellow Kumon shout at the duo:
- You guys are late! Hurry, come inside!
Both genins entered the facility, and Jun deactivated his jutsu when he had a roof over his head. The guy that called them guided the genin duo through the facility, that was again a very old an abandoned site, pretty much empty with only some old debris inside. The space was large and there were several doors, which led to other separate rooms. “The new Raikage is indeed renovating Kumo’s infrastructure… this place is huge! But also, it has been abandoned for a good while… there is a lot of work to be done here”
The guy lead Jun and Saturn into a back room, the only place that have any kind of furniture: another old oak table and a couple of wooden chairs, probably his office.
- My name is Shiro Toguma, the keeper of this place! Welcome to the future Kumogakure Elemental Training Facility! As you can see, there is plenty of room for creating a pretty cool elemental themed training ground in here! Well, I don’t expect you two lads to do all the work, but as this is part of the new Raikage’s renovation project, and he is in a hurry to improve our training facilities, it will be required from the two of you to build 3 separate, elementally themed of course, training rooms. Each room must be specific for a single basic element, so you guys will have to address at least 3 of the basic elements!
“Shit...”. Jun was well versed in Fire Release, and just recently he learned and was honing his skills in Lightning Release, but he wasn’t really good in it yet. He knew also that Saturn also had some familiarity with the Lightning Element, so that meant they would have to figure out how to address a third element, unknown for both of the genins.
- Don’t worry, Toguma sama, me and my associate are experts when it comes to the basic elements, we we’ll get it done in no time! Uh, Saturn, a quick word in private, please?
Jun pointed to an old door nearby, so the genins headed into the door’s direction direction and went inside the other room.
- We’ll need your ingenuity again, my friend… by my count, we both know a total of 2 elements, and we must make 3 rooms of 3 different elements… you leave Fire with me, and I think I have an idea about a Water room! Can you figure something out about the third one? I know you’ll have an amazing idea, good luck!
Jun hastily left the room and went on to work, as he already had a couple of ideas. He collected all the wood he could find among the debris inside the previously abandoned site, and headed into an empty room. There, he created two Shadow Clones to accelerate the process. The trio of Juns started assembling the old parts of wood together into some sorts of scarecrows, that would simulate human targets and would train the users precision, while also making piles of the rottenest pieces, were the casters would have to use powerful jutsu in order to light up such old wood. “Power and precision, seems good enough training for me… to the water room!”.
Jun was not familiar with the water element, but he had a plan to use Kumogakure’s signature storms into his favor. The trio of Juns went for another separate room of the huge facilty in its east most part, collecting as many bricks and stones they could. This part took a while as they needed a lot of rocks for Jun’s plan. After gathering enough materials, Jun commanded his clones:
- Let’s dig up a hole using our Laser Eyes, fellas.
The trio activated their Tengans and used Jun’s signature move, the Lase Eye Jutsu, creating a trifecta of Solar Chakra Beams, targeting the ground. The trio combined the beams powers and concentrated in a 5m diameter area, creating a circular hole of about 3m depth. They’ve tossed the rocks into the hole, covering its whole area with old rock in order to protect the soild, creating some sort of huge water well, which the water users could use as a source for casting their techniques. Jun told his clones to assemble targets made of the remaining debris, while he would do the grand finale for the room. They still needed water, after all.
“Snake, Ram, Tiger”
- Katon: Great Fireball Jutsu!
The young Shibasaki clansman expelled from his mouth a 5 meters’ fireball from his mouth towards the roof, which was easily blasted by the Fireball, creating a prefect hole of 5m in diameter, right above the newly build well, which allowed the water from the heavy rain to pour inside the well through the roof, slowly filling it. “This should provide water to Suiton users… and with Kumo’s regular rains, the well will always have enough water”. His clones finished the debris targets right after that and poofed out of existence, as Jun was really exhausted from all that weight lifting from before. He headed back to the facility keeper’s office, hoping that Saturn was also finished with his room so he could go back home for a well-deserved rest, with his pockets full of ryo.
