Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Sun Dec 12, 2021 1:40 am
Konohagakure, unlike its more northern neighbors, typically enjoyed temperate winters. Sure, the many millions of leaves across the country turned with the season, and eventually yielded and fell away to the colder weather. However, most days thereafter were marked by skies of interminable gray and a near-omnipresent drizzle. Snow, more often than not, remained a fantasy that danced about in the heads of children and played boogeyman in the nightmares of village utility workers.

Yet, rubbing sleep from her eyes, Ichika Zukumiki found Konoha's Uchiha District blanketed in an inch or two of snow. Walkways yet unmarred by human presence appeared to be perfect, unending planes of white. The once sharp peaks of rooftops, now blunted by the growing accumulation, created an artificial sea of snowy mountains throughout the neighborhood. And, somewhere in the distance, a single chimney sent spools of defiant smoke up and out into the strange new world. For the first time in a long while, Konohagakure would have a truly white Christmas.

Pulling herself from bed without bothering to change from her pajamas, the genin rushed to the front door and threw it open. Cold air rushed in like an uninvited guest, bringing with it a few errant flurries that quickly melted on the girl's still sleep-marked face. It wasn't just a dream; the snow she'd last seen as a young child had finally returned.

"See you soon, Uchiha girl~" a sing-songy voice called from back in the house, sending an unnatural shiver down the girl's spine. "Stay warm~"

Slamming the door shut, she rushed into the kitchen. Nothing seemed amiss at first glance. The dishes from the night before still sat undone in the sink, her book on the history of Konoha remained half-finished on the kitchen's center island, and her mother's knitting hung by the lit hearth. Wait, the lit hearth? With her mother out of town on another business trip, no one else could have lit the fire, and she just woke up.

What's going on here?

Approaching the hearth, she spied a strange scroll which, despite her training telling her otherwise, she opened. The elegant handwriting within explained the needs and wants of the famous Yoi: the spirit of the season, and the protector of Christmas. Not a child alive didn't know the stories, so how could the teen turn down such an offer?

Without a second thought towards preparation, Ichika activated the scroll and nearly vomited as her very being stretched out into an impossibly long string. Then, in a brilliant flash of red and green, she rematerialized in a warm, sweet-smelling room filled with Christmas lights and the sound of bells. A cursory glance around at the low tables, multi-tiered ovens, and countless baking implements told the girl all she needed to know: she wasn't in Konoha anymore.

Dressed in dark blue flannel pajamas with simplified motifs of ninja tools on them, Ichika looked more like she belonged in bed than in Yoi's bustling bakery. Perhaps, next time, a bit of foresight would be prudent.

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Sun Dec 12, 2021 5:08 pm
Somewhere in the land of rice, a peaceful slumber was interrupted by a barrage of knocks against an apartment door. The young Hashimoto groaned at the sound, tossing a pillow over his head in an attempt to block it out. It was far too early in the morning to deal with such a thing. And for a few seconds, he'd almost fall back to sleep.. but right as he was about to drift away the knocking returned, this time louder and more frequent then before. In a fit of frustration Shichiro would throw the pillow blind across the room, hearing a loud crash shortly after he did so.

The sound forced his eyes open and he realized his throw had knocked a vase off the inns nightstand. "Well that's just great" He'd think to himself as he tossed his covers off and forced himself out of bed to confront the knocker. Dressed in only a muscle shirt and loose fitting pants which he wore to bed he'd stomp to the front door and open it already shouting as he did so.

"You got the wrong door assh-"

huh?

Shichiro looked confused at what awaited him outside, someone had been knocking only half a second ago, but as he glanced to his left and also to his right, he saw no signs of any living thing nearby. Even stranger still was the matter of the weather, as soon as the dark haired Hashimoto had opened the door he'd feel the slapping sensation of the cold colliding with his skin. It had been relatively warm since he'd arrived in tanbo, but in front of him played a village blanketed in snow.

The hopeful entrepreneur rubbed his eyes in disbelief, the morning had started off so strange he'd though perhaps he might be dreaming. but as his hands lowered from his eyes the village was still covered in snow and there was still not a person in sight. Shichiro gave a mental shrug and was about to walk back inside to deal with the broken vase when his eyes glanced downward to see a scroll resting on his doorstep, and curiosity got the better of him.

Not thinking much of the knocker anymore he picked the scroll up and walked inside before unraveling it on the now empty apartment nightstand. And as it opened an already strange morning grew even stranger, before he could even make out what it said he felt a strange sensation overcome his body as he was elongated to unrealistic proportions and pulled through the surface of the scroll.

Next thing he knew he was free falling from the ceiling of a strange building, Ichika would hear a loud thud as he bellyflopped onto the red carpet flooring behind her. "Mother f- He'd start before realizing the wind was knocked out of him and he was physically incapable of finishing his sentence. He'd gasp for air while also taking in the decorative room that surrounded him, and the random girl standing in the center of it.

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Mon Dec 13, 2021 3:16 am

Komori

It was far too cold a night for regular Rice Country weather. With not one, but two blankets, a man attempted to trick himself into sleeping and promptly ignoring the strange cold wave that had plagued his village this fateful night. With the work that he had made the suited boy do in the fields, at least half of the plants should be able to survive one frosty night. There was also the matter of the strange scroll that had made its way to his out of the way abode, but that was another matter for tomorrow as well.

"One rice plant, two rice plants, three rice plants, four…” Truly a splendid ritual to put one to sleep, the mind wandering off into the dream world thinking of the greatest thing in the world. That is, until drastically pulled back down to the earth as its body was rudely teleported without warning. The scroll beside the bed flashed a magnificent red and green before the man called Komori found himself laying down in a powdery snow where his worn mattress had once been.

He exclaimed in shock, jumping up and reaching for a sword on his hip that was no longer there. Glancing around, he saw pale snow as far as his lone eye could see. That is, save for a single building standing amidst the white, glimmering lights dancing along the trim of its room and a ninja wreath hung up on the door. It was just like Kumo all those years ago. Back when he had dueled Komon with candy cane swords and won decisively because he had the high ground. At least, that was what Komori thought to himself as he opened the strange wooden door, still in red pajamas adorned with simple designs of rice. As he walked in, closing the door behind him, he found a warmly lit room resembling a kitchen and the very idea of Christmas spirit. Within the bakery stood a girl he did not recognize and the same ignoramus from before laying on the floor. “I see you’re already trying to get out of doing anything,” Komori said to the prone man gasping for air before turning his attention towards the more respectable girl. “Do you have any idea where we are?”

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Tue Dec 14, 2021 2:30 am
Thankfully, it would seem Yoi didn't expect the Konoha native to defend his workshop all by her lonesome. Two other figures, both older men, appeared on the scene alongside her. The more thuggish-looking man made an ignominious entrance from the ceiling and now lay sprawled out on the floor, while the other man—an eye-patched individual—came in through the far door in a much more dignified manner. Neither the thug nor Eye-patch-san were immediately familiar to the genin, and it was slightly worrying that shorter of the two men didn't know why Yoi had called them here in the first place.

"You didn't read the letter?" she crossed her arms across her chest and looked the eye-patched man up and down, hoping to get a better read on him. "We're in Moon—"

"Moon Country, that's quite right, dear girl," a small man, much shorter than even Ichika and sporting a golden name tag that read 'Buddy', appeared from thin air in a suspicious swirling of space. "Ichika Zukumiki, Shichiro Hashimoto and...Mori Suki thank you all for accepting master Yoi's invitation, he'll be overjoyed to hear you've arrived and to know you'll be helping us out."

The pointy-eared man looked at each of the newcomers in turn as he said their names, though his gaze did linger on Mori for a few seconds longer than the first two.

"Master Yoi asks that you three help to guard our bakery and workshop tonight leading up to the tree lighting at midnight," the short man glanced around as if looking for a hidden foe. "Master Yoi's counterpart, Itazura, likely has plans to throw a wrench in our Christmas festivities, and we ask that you help dispatch his henchmen in a way befitting the holiday spirit—we certainly don't want anyone to lose their lives so close to Christmas. Understood?"

Buddy didn't wait for an answer before continuing.

"Good! Good! Good! Best of luck, and Merry Christmas!"

The elf's form blurred from existence in a swirl that once more made the very fabric of space appear to bend around him. A strange ability to be sure, but one to be expected from an associate of Yoi, Ichika thought. After all, the winter spirit was said to know everyone by name; he had to have a way to keep tabs on people, and the ability to phase in and out of existence seemed quite handy in that regard.

"So," the young girl turned her attention back to her companions of circumstance. "What do you two think?"

A light blush rose in the genin's ivory cheeks, for all her supposed confidence she lacked experience. Leading the defense of Yoi's workshop was probably something best left to someone with a better understanding of combat. And, if Yoi was willing to trust the two men, then Ichika was as well, for now anyway.

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

..Mori?

Shichiro finally managed to catch his breath and get back on his feet, and just in time to accuse the rice farmer of kidnapping him. "It was YOU wasn't it!" He'd exclaim while Mori was in the middle of asking why they were here. Shichiro didn't immediately process what the man had said and kept launching into his accusation. "You were the weirdo knocking on my door this m-" Then it clicked. "Wait, you don't know why we're here either?" The Hashimoto brother glanced at Mori confused before the sound of the girls voice broke the awkward silence.

She seemed to have some inkling of an idea why they were here and began to explain until a man very small in stature man stole her moment. The abnormally small guy confirmed that they were in fact in moon country, and then proceeded to address the trio by name. His own name and Mori's were nothing special but the girls name caused his eyebrow to raise. That's a Zukumiki?. He fought the reflex to reach for a sword, knowing that he couldn't do anything in front of Mori or the small man beside him, but he would be paying close attention to the girl for the remainder of ...whatever this was.

The man would then explain that they were here to guard a bakery, and that they weren't allowed to kill in pursuit of this goal all in all it was a rather hurried explanation, and the elf didn't stick around to elaborate. No sooner then he'd finished talking he'd vanish into nothing. The Zukumiki girl, didn't seem at all phased by this and quickly asked the others for their thoughts.

"What do I think?"

He'd repeat her question back to her, clearly irritated.

"Two minutes ago I was in my bed, a magic scroll kidnapped me and now an elf is asking me to guard cookies. I THINK IM GOING INSANE!!!" He'd shout the last bit as he kicked a gift from the tree beside him across the room, in the midst of a minor tantrum.

He took a few seconds to cool down before he looked to the rice farmer, the more familiar of the two people in the room with him. "What about you? The girl seems to have come here willingly but you seemed as confused as me a moment ago" He'd ask in a more composed state then he had been in only a moment ago.

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Sat Dec 18, 2021 1:57 am

Komori

It appeared that Shichiro was beginning to learn to not blindly attack somebody in front of him based on no evidence to the contrary. Meanwhile, the girl attempted to make mention of where they were, and began to say what he interpreted with basic conversation skills to be Moon Country. ‘Mori’ had been in his home in the neighboring Rice Country, and just recalled the strange lights that had now displaced him. Space-time at work once again, clearly, but there was some mention of a letter? He was once again halted before he could even speak to the question, the goblin-esque Buddy seemingly revealed that he knew more than he should have. Eye-patch-san would have to keep his eye on him. Master Yoi? Christmas festivities? There was still time until the holiday itself and Mori was not thrilled to be kidnapped and forced into guard duty. He once again opened his mouth to speak, but would have been cut off numerous times by Buddy the bastard. Trying to get a word in edgewise, Mori called out to the elf. “What the hell do you mean-”, but the target of his words had already faded out from existence by then. The girl who was not in fact from Tanbo seemed to be taking more of the initiative while the other two were still trying to process what was happening, although it appeared that initiative was not something she was used to taking.

Shichiro followed suit, recapping the events that wound up to his own displacement before showcasing his misplaced anger on a box that did nothing wrong. “The hell if I know,” came Mori’s resentful answer. He turned around and tried to open the door from which he had just arrived. It was locked. Releasing a deep sigh, he turned around to the bakery, raising his voice to indirectly address Buddy as he called to different directions in the store. “So what, we do guard duty and you send us back? Some holiday spirit…” His voice trailed off. He gave another sigh, more expressive and agitated. He paused for a moment before turning his attention back to the stranger. “Ichika, right?” His voice may have been uncertain, but old habits die hard and Komori never forgot a woman’s name and he could not start now. “You seem to be handling this well enough. You often find yourself in these kind of situations?”

Regardless of her response, Mori would take stock of the circumstances in which he now found himself. There really only seemed to be one way forwards and that was to listen to this Buddy character, who himself was only speaking on behalf of some ‘Yoi’. He could just try teleporting back home, but his old moral compass would not allow him to leave a cute girl and someone who he loosely knows behind in an unfamiliar environment. “I guess we have no choice but to do what he says.”

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Sat Dec 18, 2021 5:10 pm
Ichika's gaze darted about the room, not unlike a kid in a candy shop. Resting on one sight brought another into her peripherals, which dragged her eyes to the next and the next and the next. Instead of the sterile kitchens of the Leaf where stainless steel, white tile, and monstrous ovens reigned, Yoi's bakery had a softer feel. Colorful ingredients covered the walls, masonry ovens blended in with the organic architecture, and the soft light from the multicolored Christmas lights above lent the room a certain warmth found only around the holidays. It all felt like something out of her mother's stories of Christmases long ago.

Going up on the tippy toes of her socked feet, the genin pulled down a cookbook from a nearby shelf. Titled 'Christmas Cookies From Grandma', the book's cover carried an array of cookies from the mundane to the fantastic. The Zukumiki household of Konohagakure, though it only played host to a family of two, had a tradition of baking cookies together during the holidays. Perhaps pulling a few recipes from Yoi's bakery itself might very well liven up the old tradition and give it a new twist.

"Yup," she glanced up from the book at eye-patch-san before returning to a page on peppermint snap cookies. "That's my name."

Then came the follow-up question, one she hadn't expected. For one barely out of the academy, Ichika found none of this to be either normal or routine. And yet, the spirit of the season made it all the more bearable, as if some kind of magic in the air stretched the definition of 'normal' to accommodate the fantastical. Then again, perhaps it was simply the teen's childish naivety shining through.

"W-well," color returned to her cheeks as she tripped over her own words and began to ramble. "I wouldn't say I'm used to it, but haven't you heard the stories of Yoi? It's just that time of year, I suppose. Anything could happen, ya know? I mean, Konoha just had its first snow in a while—"

Clunk.

Clunk.

CLUNK.

CLUNK.

The dull sound of wood yielding to metal silenced the Uchiha. Across the bakery, a silver axehead erupted through the very door Mori tried to open previously. Splinters flew inwards and the winter chill from outside cut into the warmth of the bakery causing the fire in the ovens to shudder. The sound of sleigh bells filled the air like a festive set of war drums—Itazura's forces were making their move.

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Tue Dec 21, 2021 9:26 pm

GbKKSgv.png
Although Shichiro was clearly the most upset person in the room, it also appeared he wasn’t the only one. Mori the humble rice farmer he’d met only days before that had, had enough patience to teach him how to plow a farm apparently had none today for buddy the elf. His frustration was made apparent by his actions which currently involved trying to leave, unfortunately for him it seemed that the exits were locked, likely in preparation of the fight to come.

If the earlier events weren’t enough for someone to pick up on the general mood of the room, Mori speaking to himself would let even those prone to missing social cues that he was not happy about their current situation. Arguing out loud with the now vanished elf. Eventually though even the worst moods fail to sustain themselves, and the mans focus shifted to the woman, asking her about the frequency at which she found herself in situations like this due to her degree of familiarity.

Ichika seemed to be the most interesting character in the room, she was a zukumiki and by all rights one would expect her to be as grumpy as the drug dealer trying to blend in or the rouge raikage playing farmer. But despite her upbringing she seemed generally excited by the idea of having a chance to help with the festivities. This puzzled Shichiro, the girl was either an impressive actress or actually completely in the dark about her families business model.

Either way, it didn’t really matter. At the end of the day, shichiro had been sent here to deal with her family. If she got in his way, she’d be no exception, innocent or not. His attention snapped back to reality as he realized he’d been tuning the girl out while simultaneously assessing her just in time to hear her talk about konohas first snowfall… Was she from the hidden leaf village?

Everything about this girl was an alarming surprise to him, she hailed from his family’s ancestral home, she was a member of his families greatest enemies, and now it seemed the zukumiki had spread not just across the land of rice and into the land of hot springs, but that they’ve also gained a foothold in konoha.

Either Yasahiro was forcing their hand, or the Zukumiki were growing overconfident and spreading too thin. Shichiros tactical analysis however was unfortunately cut short, as the sound of an axe crashing through glass cut the woman off. Quick reflexes claimed from quite the career of a hit man allowed shichiro to catch one that came in his general vicinity, before he remembered that he had appearances to maintain and feigned a fumble, allowing the axe to clatter harmlessly to the floor.

Shit, almost had it” he’d say before dropping to the floor to pick it up, just in time for another to fly past his head. A move which would look like a stroke of luck, but was actually a deliberate survival attempt. Whoever these people were, they didn’t seem to have the same standing orders about not ruining the holidays with bloodshed.

who the hell are these guys anyways?” he’d shout annoyed as pressed his body against the wall and watched more axes fly through the window. As the hail slowed down however he’d peak outside to see the site of a dozen of itazuras soldiers running towards the building, this wasn’t good, shichiro didn’t much care about the spirit of Christmas but also he didn’t wanna die in some strangers bakery, this unlikely team was going to need a plan.

Mori!” he’d say pointing to a support beam which held up the roof to the porch in front of them. Moon country had a particularly large amount of snow, or more specifically snow collected on top of roofs, which could be used to start an avalanche against an unsuspecting horde of minions running uphill.

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Tue Dec 21, 2021 11:29 pm

Komori

The Zucchini(?) girl began rambling in response to eye patch san’s original inquiry when she was harshly interrupted by the silver blade chopping through the very door from which he had just walked away. Komori had neither the background information nor the ability to care about the mental jumping jacks that Shichiro was performing, unless he of course used the Eye Mind Reading jutsu he had picked up. Yet, that did not seem to be in the Christmas spirit, and additionally, there was an axe maniac or several attempting to break down the door to the humble bakery. “Hey, buddy.” Mori watched nonchalantly as Shichiro appeared to narrowly dodge any and all attempts by the enemy sneak attack to axe-icute him. “Watch your profanity. It’s Christmas,” he would say, completely disregarding his previous h, e, double hockey sticks that he totally did not say earlier in the night.

An axehead attempted to lodge itself in the shoulder of the one eyed man, but the point of contact was turned to liquid as the blade was just about to connect which allowed it to sail past him without leaving a scratch on his person. Hopefully not into the blushing bambie behind him. If that were to be the case, then he would probably catch the axes much smoother than Shichiro’s butter fingers attempts. The first axe wielder hit the front door again, making a slightly larger hole. “Why are they throwing axes!” Komori would yell in pent up annoyance as another axe sailed towards him, specifically his nether regions, moving his head to follow its intended trajectory. The blade passed through his liquified body and embedded itself in the floor, right past its mark. “Alrighty then.” He brought out the ole Monkey → Bird → Hare → Ox → Tiger → Bird → Dragon → Rat hand signs to cause the sound of a thousand chirping birds to cry out in the bakery. His right hand glowed a brilliant blue as he raised his arm towards the call out from Tank Top san.

The first axe wielder had now successfully made a hole large enough to squeeze his face through, opening his mouth to say something. He was cut off by the cry of chirping birds cascading as a beam of lightning that reminded the former Raikage of his home land, which had now been fired at the support beam in question, the porch roof creaking under the weight of the snow atop it. The sound of wood buckling under pressure, dun dun dun dundundun, could be heard from inside the bakery which brought with it the snowdrift that had accumulated on the roof onto the adversaries, which were all of course conveniently within its area of effect. The sudden shift in weight had caused other deposits of snow near them to start gravitating downhill, of which this building was apparently on top, towards the nameless minions who were attempting another round of siege. The ground would shake with the shifting snow, resulting in a mass of snow cascading down and taking them with it.

“We did it, guys,” Mori began, looking towards the youth who had called out the structural instability. “We saved the bakery.”
A voice called out by the door, to which Komori adjusted his glowing arm towards. “That’s… one way to look at it.” The voice, of course, belonged to the small man from before with the intent of over emphasizing that it was Buddy, golden nametag and all, as he did not know for certain what color text code he spoke in. The elf was assessing the damage to the structural integrity of the building it seemed.
“You asked us to handle it, and that we did,” Komori reminded him confidently. ”Now, can we go home?”
The pointy eared man cast a knowing glance at Komori. ”Well, you defended the bakery, but we still need your help with the workshop. Come along, I’ll show you where we keep all the toys.” Buddy skipped to a back door that had not been there earlier in the night.

Komori began to protest, but instead silently cursed his own rotten luck. He just wanted to get home, get some rest, and take care of his rice plants, all essential parts of every person’s day. “Fine,” he sighed in resignation as he processed what Buddy had said earlier. “And then the Christmas festivities,” he said with a tad more acceptance, “And then we go home.” This was said more so to himself as assurance than to Buddy or his incidental comrades. The elf opened the back door, and a town in the full swing of Christmas cheer appeared before his eye. The buildings were rather tall, many pressed together, but even buildings across the street they now found themselves exiting onto were decorated with an array of multicolored lights that bound them all together regardless of distance. Lamp posts were adorned with wreaths while any trees and bushes were blanketed in snow and lights as well.

After some walking, maybe some chatting even, the team would shortly arrive at a large brick factory, with smoke stacks still puffing small clouds into the sky. Large industrial windows seemed incredibly out of place, especially after several years in a village primarily composed of a single feudal castle and the surrounding rice fields. “This here is where Master Yoi supervises the creation of toys and treats. The regular employees are having their end of the year celebration, so Master Yoi has requested that you three stand guard until sunrise.”
Komori’s face dropped. “So what I’m hearing is, we aren’t going to be getting home tonight.” He crossed his arms in disapproval before dropping them just as fast. “What are you so scared of? What kind of person would attack a toy factory?”

Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro] Empty Re: Miracle in Moon Country [Komori & Shichiro]

Wed Dec 22, 2021 1:43 am
Axes flew about; some were caught, one was dropped, but not a single one of them found their intended mark. The bakery soon devolved into chaos as windows exploded inwards, and the once sturdy door fell to splinters. Itazura's henchmen, it seemed, followed a very different rulebook than the recently ordained agents of Yoi, where the latter fought to defend the former fought to kill, maim, and destroy—the true shinobi way if ever there was one. Strange how even in the far northern reaches of the world the rule of the strong and ruthless still prevailed.

The ax meant for eye patch san slipped harmlessly through the man's liquid form and right towards Ichika. With neither time to marvel at her companion's ability nor dodge the incoming projectile, she held up the thick, leather-bound cookbook in her hands to the path of the weapon. Instead of shearing off the left side of her face, the ax head buried itself deep into the book and nearly emerged out the other side, leaving the teen to escape near-decapitation by the grace of the extra chapter on gingerbread houses.

None too keen to leave herself in the line of fire any longer, the Uchiha threw herself behind one of the large tables near the center of the room. Though the cold tiles beneath her prone body leeched the heat from her, she continued to cower as the sounds of pitched combat whizzed about overhead. Fleeting battle cries, hastily shouted instructions, and the sound of a thousand chirping birds filled the bakery and created an atmosphere of chaos only found, the inexperienced genin assumed, on the battlefield. It set her teeth on edge and her heart pumping on overtime, her time in the academy had prepared her for none of this.

All she could do was hide until it was over.

At the sound of Mori's declaration of victory, Ichika pulled herself from the ground and cast a quick glance around the room. Windows shattered, once-pristine rows of ingredients strewn everywhere, and a ruined structural beam; suffice to say, the bakery would need some repairs. However, Itazura's forces had been routed and the mission completed, even if the reappearing Buddy's tone seemed to imply otherwise.

Brushing the accumulated flour from her pajamas as they followed their pint-sized taskmaster, the genin's gaze danced around the sights of the strange Christmas town. Lights adorned the eaves of every building, candy-striped streetlights cast a soft light over the sidewalks, and snowmen of different shapes and sizes lined the streets as if sentient beings themselves. How strange that such a place existed on the edge of the world and had never been found before. Perhaps Yoi employed high-level sensory shinobi and kunoichi or, perhaps, there was something more than explainable happening in Moon Country—Ichika much preferred the latter theory.

The workshop looked surprisingly out of place in such a winter wonderland. Sharp corners, tall industrial windows, and smokestacks atop the building made it feel like something one might find in everyday life, not a storybook. Though, if Yoi needed such a place guarded while his elves took a break, who was Ichika to argue? After all, the elves worked much of the year around the clock to make the holidays a special time, even they deserved a break, and the teen was happy to provide it if she could.

"Not person," Ichika spoke up for the first time since the bakery as eye patch san questioned who might attack a toy factory. "People."

Emphasizing her words, she pointed over to a fast-approaching mob of armed figures as her eyes flashed red with the power of her birthright. Some figures carried pitchforks, some shovels, and a couple seemed to be wielding sharpened candy canes. Itazura's men clearly had no intention of allowing Yoi's AngelsTM to set up their defenses in the workshop this time. Now there would be nowhere to run with the battlefield becoming the snowy field in front of the workshop itself, no more tables to cower behind.

In the distance and over the rooftops, the star atop a monstrous Christmas tree shone. That would surely be Itazura's next target, but for now, an angry mob stood between the three reluctant defenders. They would need to fight their way through if they wanted to save Christmas.
