Find the Corners First [IO,NK,Hikari]

Time to go right for it. He jumped out of his window and latched himself to the wall with chakra before walking down and landing on the sidewalk. Where was he going? He had this odd compulsion to try out the library again, or at least the area around it. Something pulled him there. Lately, he didn't like sticking around the area. It was a bit too quiet, like the controlled, hushed atmosphere of the building had leaked into the surrounding environs. Almost as if the presence of some long dead librarian was still pressing down upon the people around his beloved building.

Imagine the following: there's a really big 1000 piece puzzle. Now, take that and multiply it several millions of times. It's a goal you could never hope to complete in your lifetime, and even if you tried it over several lifetimes, you'd end up quitting from frustration or boredom or lack of resources or maybe even losing a piece. But what if, from one puzzle piece, you could extrapolate all the others into place? What if life was like a big molecular condenser, where the coating of dust on the floor of the condenser dictates the structure of what's to come? Keep that in mind, it's important. 

He ended up in a small public grove near the library. The hour was about ten at night, and not many were milling around the area. The library was closed, and the only people left were the homeless, the custodians, and various people who still had business to complete. There was probably the odd shinobi around as well, but Kozogami being the unskilled child that he was couldn't yet detect them. Still, he was there for some reason. Perhaps training? He sat down cross-legged, and began to focus his chakra, a somewhat moderately strong aura pouring off of him.

"Mrs. Namikaze, It is time to get up."

"Zzzzzzzzzz......"

"Mrs. Namikaze.... It is time to wake up."

"Zzzzzzz........Twilight....."

"Mrs. Namikaze.... the library closed a few minutes ago.... We realllllllyyy need to close up shop....."

"Zzzzzzz..... who are you hansome?"

"Mrs. Namikaze.... please..... I have been here since 10 in the morning, I just want to go home."


"Your name is..... no.... you can't be...... get away.... no.... get away from me....... Edward Cullen...... no..... no..... no..."


"HIKARI!!!!!"

With a Jump, the 17 year old woke up, her heart pounding. Following after she instantly drew her a kunai at a speed of 190.

"WHERE ARE THEY!? WHERE ARE THE VAMPIRES AND WEARWOLFS! WE MUST PROTECT THE TEENAGERS AND THE PRETEENS!!"

The Librarian that had been trying to wake up Hikari instantly jumped back until he was stopped by a bookshelf and gave a squeall, as Hikari out of nowhere went from down and asleep to having her hair change color, her eyes starting to light up, and now with a kunai in her hands. The Libraian would be shivering, as The... well... now aqua haired girl would look around and see she was in the library, it appeared like she had just been in a dream. She was no longer in a terrible Teenage fantasy love novel... although.... Hikari wasn't sure that that book could be called a love novel, after all, Mein Kampf was a better love story.

Dropping the jutsu and turning off her golden eyes, Hikari (Who's hair stayed blue for a while after the jutsu) would look over and see the librarian scared to death. Puting away her Kunai, the girl would go up and say, "I'm sorry about that..... I guess I fell asleep while studying again. Did you need me for something?"

The man (Who Hikari noticed was in the process of wetting his pants.) Would take a few seconds to compose himself, would look over at Hikari, and in an obviously faked calm voice, would say. "Get..... out.... now......"

Not being used to hearing librarians be so filled with anger, The Jounin would quickly turn around and leave the library as soon as she could.


As the girl stepped out of the library, she looked over to see a shinobi she taught for a brief time in her early days at the academy, Kozogami, siting and doing some.... what Hikari could only guess would be meditation. However.... as he did, He was admiting some sort of aura around him.... it was powerful... probably powerful enough for the people nearby to sense even if they didn't have chakra sensory. Looking around, Hikari could see a few people glaring over at the Teenager.

Prehaps doing meditation in public wasn't the best idea, While the girl didn't think the Senju was likely to be hurt if those nearby decided to attack, Hikari did think that there was a possibility that the genin might hurt the civilians if they were foolish enough to strike at him.

That being said, Hikari would move up to the boy, and when she was just a few meters away from him (Presuming he didn't notice her before hand,) Hikari would say in a gentle voice, "Hey, Kozogami? Prehaps finding another place to meditate would be a good idea?"

Also, Note, Hikari's hair is now aqua colored rather than its usual chestnut color. Wether or not your character would recognize her based on her voice or other physical attributes is up to you )

Kozogami was snapped out of his meditation by the voice of... Oh, holy shit! It was that lady from the water gardens! Wait a second, wasn't she also... his memory suddenly snapped into place as he realized it was his exam proctor. He shot to his feet, sweating in panic a little. Ahhhh... this was kinda bad, right? If they had sent a jonin after him, he must be in a lot of trouble. A piece of advice bubbled into his head unbidden, one that he'd never heard before (he was sure of it, kind of). Be genuine. What kind of advice was that? Of course he was genuine...

"Uhhhhhh hello ma'am!" He began, at full attention, "I was just, uh, meditating ma'am!" Well, this was definitely the truth, but the fact that a jonin would actually come up and talk to him made him feel uneasy inside. "To be frank with you, uh... I was going to train in a more quiet spot, but those don't seem to be working very well for me, lately. I feel like I'm missing something..." Something about being in the presence of authority also caused Kiichi to suddenly blurt out all his secrets. 

Kozogami was a rather shameful display, his hair disheveled and his rather youthful face flushed with anxiety and embarrassment as his weakness. "Power above all" wasn't really his thing, but he'd much rather be able to protect his village than not. Being a burden when trouble came knocking.... he'd never be able to live that kind of thing down. 

"Can you teach me anything? Please?" He found himself pleading, more because of rather than in spite of his terror. "I've tried so hard to do something about my... issues in training, but I have to be doing something wrong. Is there anything you could do to help me?"

(Sorry, this is a bit of a short post, just a little bit stuck about what to say.)

As Kozogami would talk about how he was attempting to meditate somewhere, The Jounin would comment on this. "Well.... I understand the thought process about wanting to go somewhere else to meditate.... but prehaps out in public isn't the best idea. There might..." Hikari would look around, looking at the people in the area that were giving them an evil glance. ".... be a few people who you might bother.... Prehaps another place would be a better place to go?"

With that, the Fuinjutsu mistress of Hoshi would listen as Kozogami wanted to learn something, and Hikari would bite her lip thinking about it.

"Sure..... however... I am sorry, I don't recall what sort of jutsus you specialize in. I personally am A Fuinjutsu, Ninjutsu, and Space Time specilist. As for my ninjutsu, I use Fire, Wind, and Lightning styles. Do any of these sound familiar to you? "

"Well, umm...." Her experience clearly dwarfed his own. He somehow found the courage to keep going. "I can use wood release techniques, but I haven't had an easy time of actually learning any. What wasn't interesting to him (but definitely was of interest to his midbrain) was the fact that there were jutsu that could mess with space and time. Best to stay away from those, probably forever. If he ever came up against an enemy who could use those, though, he needed to devise some kind of solution. Or maybe he could just keep his head low and hope he didn't have to run into anyone annoying like that. 

"But if you're good at ninjutsu, ma'am, I don't think it matters, right?" In his own view, he was an ignorant genin who wasn't able to fill the role that his talent and bloodline had set for him. Every time he failed, he was supposed to learn something, but he wasn't. That meant there was something wrong with him, right?

Hardware insufficient. Please connect additional processing units.

He became aware that he might be whining a little and being somewhat needy, but he really couldn't help it. He was desperate for something that could enable him to do better. Even a less ambitious person like him could grow tired of days upon end of constant inadequacy.

Hikari would sigh, hearing genin say that because one was good at ninjutsu, meant that he could help him with alot of other things. [color=aqua] "Well..... it doesn't work exactly like that..... You see, there are 7 different types of chakra. Yin, Yang, Fire, water, Earth, lighting and Wind....." Hikari would trail off for a second as she said that, wood style? Where was that in that. Thinking about it though, Hikari recalled that the Tenma was able to use ice style, which wasn't on the list either. Prehaps it worked similar to her own Hikariton Style, combining two other elements.


Either way, Hikari wasn't very well suited to help the Senju at the moment.

"Well..... you see.... Ninjutsu is a very wide span of a specificity..... basically..... there are 7 diferent types of Ninjusu. You probably know four of these, where I know about 5, but most off them are not the same.

However.... I do think we have one or two that are similar. So.... perhaps there are a few things I can teach you.. Tell me, do you have any desire to learn how to clone yourself? And no, I don't mean like the illusions they test you on in the academy, but full fledged clones?"

With that, Hikari would wait and see what Kozoganmi would have to say about her offer.

There were... seven different types of elemental chakra? Right, he remembered that. Under normal circumstances, those were the types that people regularly encountered. Was his wood release really that rare? Maybe there was more to him than he realized? "Know thyself" was one of the oft-repeated phrases of advice handed down from the higher ranked folk, so maybe there was some merit to that after all. Kozogami was pretty bad at introspection, though, so it's not like he was really qualified for that kind of thing. Well, that was fine. He could just ask other people to help him do it, right? That's why he was talking to Hikari now...

"Yes, that sounds great! I've actually been trying to learn the wood release variant this past week, so maybe this will give me some insights!" Yeah, there's a word he'd picked up from a cheap eastern novel the other day. Funny how those seem to rub off of you. Prior to this, Kozogami hadn't used vocabulary like that much in his every day vernacular, but it looked like reading did good for a young man after all. Either way, he'd give Hikari a cheerful and excited grin (which, of course, accurately reflected his emotions, with the exception of nervous tension).

Speaking of the wood release version, he was pretty sure there was something important he was missing from the equation. He knew the technique could be used to track people as well, but he couldn't quite figure out how. Did he somehow stick the clone onto something? That didn't quite seem right. In addition to that, his creations didn't seem quite as durable as he wanted them to be. In short, they crumbled the moment he took his focus off of them, which wasn't good. Well, hopefully whatever advice he got here would help with that.

Hikari would nod, and start to make the sign of the clone, and would start to explain. "So. This jutsu requires a special hand sighn, the one I am making right now. Once you do that, creating a physical clone is fairly simple. Build up your chakra the same way that you do if you were making a noral clone, and just pour more chakra into it." 

With that, Hikari would make a clone of herself, before letting it disapear. Looking over at kozogami, Hikari would say. "How about you give it a go."

What, a handseal like that existed? He didn't know what it meant or where it came from, but usually cross-shaped symbols in the local culture symbolized either some kind of religious meaning or a sort of comprehension of the universe. Naturally, being the ignorant child that he was, he didn't understand the context behind any of these either. Still, he complied with his impromptu teacher, placing his hands and fingers in the (hopefully) correct positions. It was easy to see how the commoners around here could think that the shinobi of the village were practicing some bizarre witchcraft, but really, it was just a sort of energy manipulation. 

Either way, it was like the clone technique, but 1000 times better, right? Solid clones, that could actually move around and perform actions separate from himself. To be honest, it seemed too good to be true, but he'd heard of people using this technique in the past, so it wasn't completely beyond imagining. It was conceivable that the technique could work, ergo, he could perform it. After all, he had the power if not the aptitude, so everything was bound to go well. He focus his chakra, and pushed it outwards, hoping for the best.

He was able to form a single solid clone, looking exactly like him. Wow... neat. He'd been able to learn it in such a short time, and with a bit more practice, he was sure that he could do it without even having to think much about it. 

"Whoa!" He began, as the clone dispersed in a puff of transient smoke. "That was fast! Maybe this is what I needed. Thanks a lot, teacher!" He'd give Hikari a happy little smile as he felt a little stronger. He gave off the impression that this would be enough, but he knew within him that it wasn't. Clones were great, of course, there was no mistaking that. But in the end, if the user was weak, so too would the clones also be. It only made sense, right? Well, at any rate, it was good that he'd made such great progress...

"Wonderful!" Hikari said, with a smile on her face, she was very surprised it took the boy such a little amount of time to learn the jutsu. The boy obviously showed a large amount of potential.

Anyways, with that, Hikari would continue to ask questions. "So.... you learned that, is there any other questions you have for me about being a Shinobi? or any other jutsu you would like to learn?"
