First Fire (COMPLETE) Empty First Fire (COMPLETE)

Wed Jun 14, 2017 9:00 pm
Today would be a hell of a day for Fenrir.  He intended to learn 3 Fire Style jutsu in one day, and he had yet to learn even an E-Rank fire technique.  This of course changed nothing, and he knew he could do it.  It only took some work to get done, and he was fully aware of his ability to learn jutsu effectively.  Attempting to rise from his position, Fenrir's head bounced off of a wooden surface.  Apparently, when he went to sleep, it was in some... dark, wooden place.  He felt dirt under his hands, dry despite the mist in Kiri.  So he's under something, but above the ground, and he had slept there.  He had a couple of ideas, but to find out which it was, he woul'd need to crawl to the edge of the structure, and thoroughly kick the side until it busted open.  Upon doing this, he found that he was under his house, and, while surprised, didn't have time to find out why.  Rising once again, this time unimpeded, Fenrir would begin to stretch and dust himself off, getting ready to head off to the training grounds.  Grabbing a quick breakfast of instant ramen before going, he thought of exactly what jutsu he would be training today.  He had a few in mind, but hadn't fully decided.  The one he would be starting with is Fire Stream, the most basic fire style jutsu he could learn that was actually useful.  Next up would be a D-Rank one, Either Exploding Flame Shot or Piercing Darts, whichever he picked when it was time. Who doesn't love blowing shit up? Well, other than the ones who get blown up. This incited a slight giggle from Fenrir, who really would love to see someone explode.  After that, he was torn between two different jutsu to be his C-Rank.  He would either learn Great Fireball or Pheonix Fire Jutsu.  Great Fireball if he wanted to hit a big area with death, or Pheonix Fire to hit multiple targets, accurately.  He would decide that when the time came.  For now, he needed to train, and he had arrived at his place of choice to do so.  Moving to the center of the training grounds, he would breathe in deeply before beginning.

He had never learned a fire type jutsu before, so Fenrir needed to figure out exactly how they worked.  He knew that his primary element was the form that his chakra would naturally take, so it should be pretty easy to make.  He just had to let his chakra do it's thing.  For Fire Stream, that basically meant breathing out a big cone of chakra, and turn it to fire as it comes out.  It seemed a bit more complicated than it ought to be, seeing as it was supposed to be natural and what not.  Anyway, the first thing he needed was the half tiger seal, held with his left hand as his right came up to his mouth.  Forming a circle with the right hand for the chakra to flow through, he would then breathe out the cone of chakra, hoping it would take care of the fire bit by itself.  This didn't work out as well as he had intended, but apparently that was because it was destined that nothing would ever work on the first try for Fenrir, and he would simply need to see what was wrong with his situation.  He had let the chakra out, but it hadn't become fire on it's own.  This means he needs to make it burn himself, most likely with more chakra.  Once again forming the half tiger seal and raising his right hand to his lips, Fenrir exhaled a great breath of chakra, using the chakra in the circle his hand was forming to light it, like a match for a flamethrower, and sure as hell, it worked.  It hadn't completely worked, in that it wasn't as big as it was supposed to be, but it had made a decently sized gout of flame.  From here it would be nothing but repetition to perfect the dimensions of the jutsu and get it up to the right heat, technical stuff like that.  Sadly, even boring, technical stuff like this had to be done to fully learn the jutsu, as were the rules of learning jutsu in this world.  Because of this, he would continue to gruelingly focus on this same technique until he had gotten every little bit of it right.  So, again he would form the hand seal, lift his hand, breathe chakra, and light it on fire, creating a large gout of flame.  This one was considerably bigger than the previous one, but still had not been quite big enough to be considered complete.  This jutsu was almost done though, and would likely only take one or two more repetitions to finish.  In the best interest of everyone involved, Fenrir zoned back into his mind, sitting at a nice long table, drinking his tea with infinite different characters, each one wackier than the last.  Deciding this was not a place he wanted to be, Fenrir quickly returned to reality, noticing that in his absence, he had performed the jutsu a few more times.  By now, it should surely be finished, he thought to himself.  One more time, he would raise his hands, left into the half-tiger seal, and right to his lips.  Breathing out the chakra as he lit with his right hand had become much easier with repetition, and this time it appeared that he had, in fact, perfected the jutsu's dimensions, and was finally ready to move on to more interesting things.

Exploding Flame Shot was invariably more interesting than the far more simplistic Fire Stream, in that rather than simply producing a gout of flame, you actually launched a ball of it at your enemy.  Piercing Darts was also more interesting, but instead of launching balls, you would fire darts made of fire.  These both sounded much more interesting, and both were certainly more complicated, than Fire Stream.  Along with this, however, they were much more powerful.  This led to a single final decision for which jutsu he would train.  Did he like the napalm-effect of the Flame Shot, or the single-seal usage of the Flame Darts?  He thought the napalm would be very useful in a closed situation, such as the blood games, but in the same situation the speed of using only a single seal could be quite useful as well... Flame Darts.  While the napalm would be good, six projectiles in less than a second would be invaluable.  So, he would train Flame Darts first, and maybe cover Flame Shot another day.  Now to be a bit more specific about what he was learning to do.  Flame Darts is meant to produce 6 darts, made of, you guessed it, flame, around the user.  It is then used to launch these darts at your foes, piercing and burning them to death.  This was a very fun picture in Fenrir's mind, and as he thought about it, he began to wonder what was missing from it.  After about five minutes of this, he decided it was nothing and returned to his training.  Forming the Tiger seal with his hands, Fenrir focused on a small strip of air directly in front of him, at about chest level height.  While focusing on it, he attempted to put his chakra into that strip, heating it up to form a small dart, made of fire.  This isn't exactly what ended up happening, but it was close.  Rather than making a dart of actual fire, it was just very hot air, a faint blur in the air.  Releasing this failure, Fenrir prepared to try again.  He was quickly beginning to tire of the repetition of his training, as all he had done since he began training as a ninja was repeat the technique over, and over, and over again until he could do it.  He wanted a partner to train with, someone he could fight against without breaking the law.  Deciding that this would be a good enough reason to ignore the "avoid all people" rule, Fenrir returned to his training with a slight smile on his face.  Pretty soon, he would be firing these darts at a live target, and oh what fun that would be.  Focusing his attention onto a nearby training dummy, Fenrir would once again place his hands into the tiger seal, focusing on the air directly in front of his hands, molding his fiery chakra into the thin line that would make his dart.  With one final push, the line burst into flames, and was fired at the dummy.  Smiling viciously, Fenrir couldn't help but picture the dummy as his new training partner.  Maybe that was all he needed, the dummy, just as a target.  Yes, that would do nicely.

From here, Fenrir had decided, he would be training more creatively, making full use of his new training partner.  He had positioned himself 6 meters from the edge of the training grounds, and the dummy 3 meters from the edge of the training grounds.  Here, he would continue his training with the flame darts, increasing the distance as he went.  Forming the tiger seal as he had one previously, Fenrir focused his chakra the exact same way as he had before, forming the small line of fire directly in front of his hands.  Then, pushing it forward, it would travel the full three meters it needed to to hit the dummy.  This was expected, as Fenrir had done about the same distance on his first attempt at shooting the dummy.  His second attempt would place him at 6 meters from the dummy, where he would fail to hit the dummy on the first attempt.  On the second attempt, he succeeded in striking the dummy, as he did on his third attempt at nine meters.  After this, he would restart back at three meters, this time trying to use 2 darts.  This number took longer to train up to the full distance of the jutsu, but it was trained nonetheless.  He would continue this training pattern for the rest of the day, with 3 darts, 4 darts, 5 darts, and finally, 6 darts.  By the time he had finished this jutsu, it had become clear to Fenrir that if he was to also learn a C-Rank, he would have to train well into the night.  This meant he would have to run back home to grab some supplies, namely breakfast cereal and some coffee.  Besides, he was feeling like getting some dinner anyway, so he could probably just hit the ramen place on the way back.  Heading out to put his plan into action, Fenrir would leave the charred training dummy holding his place.

Returning with his bag of supplies, a stool, a pillow, and a ramen cup, Fenrir would set up a small area for eating, with a pillow seat and a stool table.  He would then drop his supplies, consisting of cereal, coffee, and everything needed to make and consume the two, next to the stool.  Now that he had everything set up, it was time for hime to begin training his most powerful fire jutsu yet.  While he was out, he had come to the conclusion that Great Fireball Jutsu would be most useful to him in the blood games.  Once again it was for the speed of the hand seals.  It had only two, whereas Pheonix Fire Jutsu had a total of six, which would take three times as long to use.  If he took the time to use six seals, and someone that was as fast as him used 2, he would be beaten, so he had to make sure that he was the one using two.  Standing in position, ten meters away from the dummy, Fenrir formed the two seals used in the jutsu, Horse, followed by Tiger.  After this, his right hand would rise to his mouth, forming a ring for his chakra to both exit through and be lit on fire by.  At first, this resulted in a line of fire, much like Fire Stream but thinner, with only a small ball of fire at the end.  This went less than a fifth of the required distance for a Great Fireball, and most certainly lacked the size of one.  Once again, Fenrir would form the hand seals, followed by the release of chakra through his hand-ring.  This time, it lengthened slightly, up to about the full distance of a Fire Stream, but there was still only a little ball of fire, hardly even comparable to the small stream that it stemmed from.  This seemed to be an issue to Fenrir, as the jutsu became much less efficient without the giant ball on the end of the thin stream, and he very much liked the idea of being able to blow shit up with a proper fire jutsu.  He had also noticed that the jutsu was nowhere near as tiring as he had expected, taking even less chakra out of him than the E-Rank Fire Stream.  He believed these both stemmed form the same issue.  He was not using enough chakra in the jutsu, and it was resulting in a much weaker jutsu.  He needed to push more of the chakra into the orb, inflating it like a balloon on the end of the stream, which would act as a straw through which he could push his chakra into the balloon, or the ball.  Now that he had a game plan, he needed to put it into action.  He repeated everything he had done previously up to the hand seals, changing course when he fired the stream.  This time, he would focus less chakra into the stream itself, instead simply using it to transfer chakra to the ball on the end of it.  This resulted in a larger ball, about a foot in diameter, on a thin stream of flame.  This was amazing progress, and Fenrir was so delighted by it that he almost didn't notice that it was draining him very quickly.  He had been awake for a long time, and had been training for most of it.  He needed some coffee or he was going to be absolutely exhausted before too long.  Going to hit supply kit, Fenrir would retrieve a few things, and after a while, he had a small cooking area, specifically for coffee.  Within minutes, he had himself a single cup of joe, and sat cross legged on his pillow for the next few minutes, taking a break.

After his cup of cofvefe, Fenrir was feeling much less tired, and was quite ready to continue his training.  This was until he tried to perform the jutsu once again, this time succeeding in a 5 meter stream, with a 2 foot wide fireball.  This was better than he had done before, and this one last attempt had pushed his ability with the jutsu slightly forward, but had ultimately drained him.  He passed out on the spot, the covfefe failing to restore his energy.  Here he slept until morning, at which point he awoke, ate some cereal, packed up his supplies, and returned home.   The day before, he had learned his first fire jutsu, and E-Rank, his second, a D-Rank, and had learned a good portion of his first C-Rank Fire Jutsu.  What he did for the rest of this day is a subject for another training topic, maybe he'll finish the C-Rank.  That doesn't matter here though, for this topic is ended.
