Earth Release: Mud Spore Empty Earth Release: Mud Spore

Thu Dec 29, 2016 12:45 am
Komon’s training was going well despite the fact that he had sworn never to enter the kumogakure library again and had two very much in pain arms. He had of course gotten the arms looked at but still felt quite a bit of pain, apparently it would take time to heal… Komon just hoped they would be ready and in shape by the time that the 4th exam rolled around the corner. And although Komon thought his training was going well he couldn’t help but notice he obviously favored lightning nin in his training. About half of all his techniques involved lightning in some way, and he had only learned one earth technique since unlocking the element several months ago with the help of his former sensei gorami.

Komon felt the need to train, and he wanted to train in earth ninjutsu. The problem he ran into was he knew no techniques or jutsu that he could learn, and where he’d normally solve this problem by going to the library and studying, he had recently sworn never to enter that building ever again. Desperate to find away to train, and not willing to break his vow Komon began to think hard about how he could train in earth ninjutsu. When it came down to it he could only think of two people he knew that specialized in it. The first of which was Zekko a gennin he had met in his first chuunin exam trial, that had tried to kill him at one point. The other was his former sensei gorami.

Gorami of course had been the one who taught him how to learn and wield earth ninjutsu, Komon also remembered the man had been rather skilled in using earth ninjutsu in several of their spars in the past. “Yah, Gorami is probably a good place to start” Komon thought to himself as he grabbed his vest and walked out of his bedroom. He had been laying in bed during the previous events and figured he better get up and face the day ahead of him.

Opening the front door of his apartment Komon was startled by the weather of the village. It was raining quite hard, but komon intended to walk through it regardless. He had exams coming up and weather was not gonna stop him from training. With that thought in his mind he stepped out onto the soaked road running straight  through the center of the hidden cloud village, and began to make his way to his former sensei’s house. He had traveled to it often, due to the fact that the man was always willing to help him further his training.

After several minutes of walking komon saw goramis house appear over the horizon through the heavy rain, he smiled at the thought of finally getting some shelter from this rain under the balcony of the man's front porch. Komon began to run in the house's direction, unlike his brother who was a hozuki and thrived in the rain, Komon relied on lightning based attacks and was not fond of the rain in the slightest, it slowed him down and messed with his electricity. After a couple seconds of sprinting he made it to where he was underneath his sensei's balcony.

The balcony covered Komon from the rain and he took a couple seconds to breath in the air without the rain dripping into his mouth, and dry off before slicking his hair back as the rain had caused it to turn into a nasty mess. After taking his couple of seconds to appreciate the shelter his sensei's balcony had given him Komon turned to face the door and rose his arm.

*Knock Knock*

Komon could barely hear his own knock over the powerful downfall behind him but he was sure gorami could hear it just fine from inside his large house. He waited a couple of seconds before the knob to the door began to turn and his sensei's face popped out from behind it.

“Komon, it’s pouring rain outside what are you doing out and about at a time like this?”

Gorami was of course looking out for his student as always and invited him in asking what he wanted. Komon paused denied the man's gesture saying he had no intention of going inside, and asked the man if he’d be willing to teach him a new technique in the weather that surrounded the village around them. Gorami sighed clearly not wanting to go out into the wet hell in front of him at the moment. Instead he gestured to Komon to follow him into his house.

Komon of course obeyed his sensei and followed him down the man's hall and was astonished when the man opened a door that led to an indoor dojo. The dojo was beautifully crafted and had wooden walls. But what amazed Komon more was that the dojo had no man made flooring, instead it was just barren earth. Komon smiled upon seeing this, it would allow the two to train in even the harsh weather that currently surrounded them. His joy however was cut short when his kekkei genkai, the byakugan, caught a glimpse of rocks hurtling towards him.

Komon was quick to respond to the volley of attacks his sensei had just launched at him and his palms began to weave the signs for earth wall as he hurled himself away from the incoming volley. Tiger, Hare, Boar, Dog. Komon finished the signs as the rocks were beginning to close in and slammed his palm to the ground. His chakra pushed into the ground and pulled out a massive slab of rock into the air intended to stop the rocks hurling at him, but to his astonishment the boulders simply smashed straight through.

Komon was unable to react in time as one slammed into his arm and sent him flying backwards. Confused as to why his sensei had attacked him he began to question him aloud. “What the hell was that for!” he said noticeably in pain. Gorami laughed at his student, before explaining his intentions. “I was showing you what I’m about to teach you, those rocks you just tried to deflect would normally be easily deflected with an earth wall jutsu, and you were correct to use it in defense if it had just been a normal volley. But my attacks were amplified by something called the mud spore jutsu, a technique often used by earth specialist to amplify their techniques, if you had looked around with your byakugan you would have noticed the chakra infused mud that had surrounded me and probably realized I had covered my rocks in it.”

Gorami’s explanation made the attacks seem slightly more warranted but by no means made komon any happier the rock that had slammed into him had hurt quite a bit. “Alright I guess that makes sense, but if you're going to attack me for demonstration purposes you better be willing to teach me the technique” Komon jokingly commanded knowing the sensei already intended to teach him.
Gorami laughed at his student’s gesture before he continued to explain the technique to him. “Komon, in order to effectively use this technique you must first learn the signs and the chakra manipulation. The signs are rather simple the entire technique responds to three simple hand signs, Ram, Ox, Boar. You've memorized much longer chains of handsigns so I imagine that part shouldn’t be to hard for you, the part you should focus on for now is channeling your chakra into the ground beneath you and using it to crush the dirt around you. This step is necessary in order to create the mud for the technique. Without an understanding of it you can't perform it, when you're ready you can begin practicing either one, I’m sure you’ll do great.” Gorami said to his former student.

Komon listened to the man explain the technique to him in great detail and when presented with the option of learning either part he decided he would start with the easier of the two and get it out of the way. 3 signs was easy enough to remember but he needed to do more than remember, he needed the signs to become a reflex like all his other jutsu, so he dedicated the next hour to weaving the three simple signs. Ram, Ox, Boar. Ram, Ox, Boar. Ram, Ox, Boar. He repeated the signs over and over in his head while forming them with his hands at the same time for a long time before deciding that he had trained it well enough and was ready to move onto the next step of manipulating the chakra like Gorami had described to him.

Slowly Komon took a deep breath and wove the three signs he had just spent so long practicing. First he started with Ram, then came Ox, and he finished the chain by weaving the sign for Boar. With the signs woven he began to send his chakra down from his chest and into his feet, now that the chakra was rushing to his feet he began to initiate the next phase of the technique and expelled the stored chakra from his body into a circle that was roughly 10 meters in diameter around him in the dirt below him. Once the dirt was completely covered in his chakra Komon began make the chakra destabilize and jolt back and forth.

This rapid movement of his chakra began to grind the dirt into a more liquidated form and it began to take the shape of the mud he needed, but he also needed to be able to manipulate this mud into rising to the surface and enveloping the ground around him so that he could use it for his ninjutsu techniques. His sensei had not given him any information on how to do this so komon was forced to do some guesswork.

Komon began to pull the chakra he had sent into the ground back towards his feet causing the mud it had created to cling to it and follow his lead, however this only seemed to drag the mud back to his feet and failed to spread out into the circle he had created. This was not an effective way of using the technique as he needed the mud to cover a large surface for his techniques, but Komon guessed that the progress was better than nothing. He let out a sigh to express his frustrations to his teacher before continuing with another attempt.

Again he wove the three signs and released his chakra letting it form another 5 meter circle before violently jolting it back and forth. As he saw that the surface began to change to mud instead of attracting the chakra back to his feet he simply expelled it outwards and let the force of his released chakra force the mud to the surface. His idea worked and his training paid off as the mud began to splash to the surface.

Komon looked to his former sensei upon his success of the attempted technique to see how he may react. Komon knew Gorami was probably used to Komon’s relatively fast paced training by now, which made the shock in Gorami’s face all the more treasurable. Komon’s ability to learn ninjutsu seemed to be advancing at an alarming rate that caught even jounin like Gorami off guard, as his face clearly showed. Komon now satisfied with his training released the ninjutsu and watched the mud dissipate back into the ground it had come from before turning to Gorami and then thanking the man for his help before turning to leave the dojo and his senseis house and enter back into the harsh downfall of rain that surrounded the hidden cloud.

He then opened the door and stepped back onto the barren and wet street, before starting his journey home to his apartment where he imagined the nice warm and not to mention dry embrace of his bed and a good night's sleep.
