Rough Around the Edges Empty Rough Around the Edges

Fri Feb 28, 2014 8:50 am
Morning came too quickly, eager to see what had become of Asura on the lone bed in the white room at the very corner of the hospital. The night had been unkind and his mind had taken the tumultuous time to wander and stray, returning more than a few times with strange and terrible emotions from days long gone. When finally the long narrow hand of the sun pierced through the window, the Demon was already awake, watching the motionlessness of the ceiling. It was not like him to think about the past so much. But perhaps the strain had pressed him to do so. Or maybe something had changed.

He sat up, his elbows resting on the minor quivering of his thighs. The bokken still lay there, evidence that the evening before was not a dream. The stench of sweat and blood was thick upon the walls and he regretted having to stay there over night. Ideally, he would've had the pieces of metal removed from his ribs and went home. But they had managed to do that and much more. Never one to heal under the hospice of others, it felt foreign now to have the small IV attacked to his arm and a few other monitors taped to his chest.

"Get stronger, huh."

Tearing the IV out of his arm and the monitors off of his skin, he rose to his feet. The room did not spin and the ground did not reconsider. With his left hand, he took the bokken, realizing that it had been heavier than he expected. And while it wasn't the jagged-edged blades of his choice, no one else was to blame for that. They broke due to his own carelessness. He would stop by his home to tidy up before meeting this man that had taken some inexplicable interest in bettering Sora. But one must assume that certain people existed in the world. If the soils could create the greedy, the monstrous, the cursed, and the damned, then of course it could create someone the likes of the green-haired man. But that did not discount the possibility that this stranger wanted something in return from Asura.

The Demon arrived early to the location. A part of him was suspicious of where he had been invited, and the other part was curious as to why this specific location. Upon seeing it, the latter was clear -- a training grounds for training. The sounds of metal and chakra had made a home here, and Asura wondered if he could really become any stronger under the training of this man.

Hunter had already been at the training grounds for a while. It seemed that he was indeed wanting to see if his new student would show up. Soon he had his answer as the one he named Bob would soon show up. He looked like he was warry of the spot and overly cautious. Hunter laughed a bit as he would remember the careless attitude that the man from the other day took, vs. the meticulus and calculating attitude of the man he took on as his student before the other. Hunter waited a few more moments before jumping up from the tree he was quietly and very well concealed under.

"Hey Bob, over here. Your late, lets get to work already, you have plenty to learn still."

Hunter would put his hands in his pockets as he would wait for the man to run over to him so that they could begin their training. Hunter already had his Bokken drawn and to his side. He was leaning on it like an old master would a walking cane, and all the while he would yawn a bit just to keep up appearance that he was just a tired man.

There he was, off to the distance, blended amongst the browns and greens of the scenery. Giving one passive glance towards the empty space around him, Asura considered having trained alone. To align himself with someone whose motives were kept shrouded was to take a gamble. These Shinobi were not, after-all, much different than other humans. He would have to research this man, and not only find his damned name, but find who he worked for and what work he had done. Some times the smell of the money in your pocket told just as much about you as the smell of the money on your sword. Mostly ignoring the initial banter from the man, the Demon stopped a few yards in front of him. Pulling the borrowed bokken from his back, he allowed it to stand extended from his outstretched left hand.

"I don't know what you have in mind, with this sort of training...," he said, allowing for the wooden weapon to swing like a pendulum, feeling its weight and surface like fingers through the fields of the air. It felt light, like the afterthought of a weapon, and in most ways it was indeed. Like a placeholder, the bokken was an actor in a theater, playing the sword with strained and unrealistic expressions. It was a parody. But it reminded him of having used it before, in what felt like another pocket of existence far secluded from where he was now. "But since I have to return this bokken to you anyway, I'll give this thing a shot." He poised, his left arm by bending across his torso, the sword now readied against his right hip. While he hadn't fully recovered, at least the internal bleeding had stopped. His right arm, however, was still numb from the stab wound that had gone to the bone. It remained bandaged, as were the lower left side of his ribs.

Hunter looked at his new student and he stretched a bit, first making sure he was loose enough to move comfortably and secondly, he made sure that the entire area was clear. He stood straight up before throwing his sword into the air as if to show off or demonstrate his fully immersed way of sword fighting. As the Bokken came down Hunter did not move, he waited till the Bokken was 3/4 the way to the ground and he snatched it up with such grace that he was able to swing it high still on its own momentum and get into a scorpion inspired stance as he would keep his left arm out as if to be a guard.

"Today we will teach trust. Your training is to fight me blindfolded and trust that I will not run away, try to kill you, or mock you. This training is something that mere academy students would learn and is only being taught today because I still sense that same feeling as before. You do not trust me or why I am trying to teach you in the first place. You cannot lie and tell me it is untrue, your eyes tell the story."

Hunter would reach inside his Jacket and pull out a bandage wrapped around a rock, he would toss it to Bob as he waited for Bob to do as instructed.

Kankri walked from his normal training place to find the two training, a green hairded man, and a weird academy student Kankri didn't remember seeing him in his classes, well Kankri most likey didn't remember because in his classes he was normally sleeping the class away, anyways Kankri examined the two their headbands showed they where Kumo so Kankri expected he would be safe to come out.Kankri also looked over the man with black hair one more time, he noticed something... that guy was way to old to be a academy student, he expected now that that guy was actually a jounin or a anbu maybe, most likely not a sannin those guys where battle scared and looked like total badasses in a nutshell.

Kankri came out of hiding to the two guys, he wore his normal wares, he had a red shirt on, his headband located on the left arm, his face showed to be happy, with the smile located clearly on his face, his eyes were open to the fullest, his kings blade was located on his back leaning to the right, his left and right hands where stuck in his jean pockets, his brown hair showed clear as well as his eyes, his white shin showed as well, and he was happily approaching the men thinking of what he would say a simple 'Hello' may do but Kankri wanted to look a bit less settled than most ninja.

Kankri would arrive near the ninja with a large smile "Hey guys" he would say happily removing his right hand from his pocket, his arm would dangle there and his left hand would stay in his pocket, he really didn't know what to say but he figured lets go a bit classy, as soon as he finished his greetings he would say simply this "How are you" with his normal cool tone of voice, making it seem as though he really didn't care but that was his tone that he was birthed with so he couldn't do much to change it.

Asura caught the bandaged rock tossed towards him. He was not new to this sort of training, but the goal had not been trust. Trust was a luxury for those that lived behind walls and paid taxes to government thugs like Demon. With his thumb he flicked the bandage loose. Trust was not for those that wandered. But perhaps he could no longer be considered a wanderer, not after having aligned himself to the Village. Even still, the notion seemed superfluous. That was when he detected the motion of someone else, someone he had not expected. Ironically, his first assumption was that it was an ambush. The grip on his bokken tensed, grew intentional and poised.

So much for trust.

But upon hearing the newcomer's greeting, Asura chose to assume that he was a familiar. He was awfully geared up to be on a stroll, but given their location, it wasn't hard to understand at least some combat preparation. Wordlessly, the Demon opened the straps of bandaging, closed his eyes, and tied it about his head. All the while he listened for the familiar sound of metal scraping against cloth, or foot steps along the earth that moved closer to him. The knot he died behind his head was loose, easily opened with the slightest tug, a more subtle sign of how much he trusted a strange.

So this man had a sense of time, but more importantly, he had a grasp of the weight distribution of his sword. It was hard to tell at what angle the bokken would have fallen without even looking at it, without having an intimate understanding of how it bends through the air. That was to be expected from a sword expert, and parlor tricks weren't what Demon had come for. He had seen the opponent's stance. It was more balanced, while his own leaned towards the offensive. Could the green-haired man's right hand generate enough power to block a back-handed stroke of Demon's own bokken? Would his left hand really stand up against Asura's speed?

He poised. But before bursting into battle, he asked a question that could determine quite a bit of what happened next.

"Gonna' join us?"

Hunter watched as Demon took the bandage and put it on slowly, he noted the new kid that strolled in. The sword on his hip looked eerily similar to a design his father had in his Forge under the Compound. He signaled for the boy to come join him under the tree as he kept his stance. He knew that Demon would take time to earn his trust, but that was fine in Hunter's book, most swordsman were like that in that respect. If the boy were to come to him Hunter would tell the boy to attack the man, Hunter knew that the boy was probably not all that fast or strong, but he wanted to see how much the man actually did trust him.

"Here boy take this Bokken...:

Hunter would hand the boy the Bokken and smile still leaning in.

"Ok Bob I am coming to attack you now. Defend, but do not counter."

Hunter would yell out his instructions as he would go to the boy.

"Ok now when you strike go from above your head and swing downward, make no noise, no grunts, and use your top speed. Swing just once, then back off."

After Hunter would relay his instructions and wait still at the tree to see how Bob would take the tricked attack, would he trust Hunter enough to let him come and attack, or would he break trust, remove the bandage and find the boy attacking instead of Hunter. He stood and waited

Kankri refused the wooden stick the man called a Bokken Kankri had no need to betray a dude who he didn't know, he wouldn't let the man betray his own fellow man Kankri simply shook his head, this dude would not be telling him what to do either Kankri would simply block out the instructions had he continued to address him with those words, Kankri barely even knew this dude so he wouldn't be doing anything he asked, Kankri waved him away and did his own thing.

Kankri didn't know what to do the scan willed him to come forward although Kankri had just met the man. As they hadn't attacked him yet he was free to assume that they where rather good ninja of the awesome Kumo village. Although they had some weird training exercises one of the guys threw on a blind fold expecting the other to go easy on him Kankri couldn't help but think of calling them dumb how in the bloody blazes was this going to help in a real fight?

Yet again Kankri thought to himself ’probably shouldn't call them dumb could be bad' he thought quickly and smiled he honestly did enjoy this, the guys seemed rather into their training and seeing as to Kankri had nobody to spar with, well aside from the rock his old rival he figured he might as well stay and see if they would train with him, although Kankri didn't expect a teach to say the words he just did, the man said trust him to the man now blind folded, it would seem he was going to swing a sword at full force to the mans skull.

Kankri sat down leaning against a tree, he placed his sword down next to him watching these two guys 'train' with blindfolds and wooden swords.Kankri thought to himself 'where Is the rush? Where is the danger, if you aren't ready to give your life up what is the point? Kankri gripped his left fist changing it to the katana which was its original for and stuck deep into the ground with a frown, how could these men train when one of them isn't trying their hardest? It was clear the green haired guy was stronger, but as Kankri knew strength wasn't everything age will make you wise but it will also make you frail, Kankri frowned again waiting for some action.

Not to be rude here, but you seem to ignore a lot of stuff. I gave YOU the Bokken and told YOU to attack him. if you do not, then you need to state so.
