A Meeting of Chance [Koka] Empty A Meeting of Chance [Koka]

Wed Dec 02, 2020 12:57 pm
The day had progressed nicely, the sun now reaching its highest point in the sky, although it still felt cold, given the time of year. Ryuzaki had decided he would make his way into the village and use the more conventional training ground located there. Ryuzaki donned his usual attire, a pair of ninja tabi that covered bandages that wound around his feet and up his legs until they went under a pair of long shorts that stopped just below the knee, and met a pair of compression shorts. Strapped around his left leg was a long weapon pouch that housed half his kunai and shuriken, on his back right hip he wore a cloth weapon pouch that housed the rest of his kunai, shuriken, explosive tags, smoke bombs, and military ration pills. A belt wound around his waist, not to keep his shorts in place but to hold the hanging scabbard of his master's family heirloom, a katana. Ryuzaki wore a black, short-sleeved t-shirt, from just below his shoulders more bandages wound around his arms and his hands, doubling as hand wrapping for close-quarters combat. On Ryu's back two holsters crossed each other, both housing a tanto, their hilts pointing out and down from his back, so they could easily be drawn, his weaponry was mostly designed so that in the case of combat he could draw them while his enemy was caught in the shadow imitation jutsu, and if they had similar weapons they would not also draw them. Around his neck he wore a simple silver chain, hanging from it was a simple gold ring with the Nara clan symbol etched into it, the only sign that he ever belonged to the clan.

Ryu entered the village gates and hurried to the training grounds, when he arrived he made his way into the centre of the open ground. The training ground consisted of a wide-open space 200 meters by 200 meters, it was lined by a small pond of water on the far end, behind which was a sheer climb of rock. Along another wall that ran from the pond to the entranceway Ryu had just entered there were many different training dummies and even an obstacle course. The wall that lined the training ground parallel to the wall with the training apparatus was bare. Ryu dropped to the floor and began to perform various stretches to warm up his muscles, starting from his head, and working his way down his body to his toes. After his stretching was complete Ryu jumped back up to his feet and began to of around the training area, he stopped after half an hour, his body now completely warm. Ryu stood in the middle of the training area, he brought his hands up in front of his chest, his fists clenched. Ryu closed his eyes and began to swell chakra in his core, then he pushed it from his centre through the chakra network to his brains left hemisphere. He opened his eyes and felt power swell through his body "Gate of Opening" He shouted as the power surged through his body. Ryu bent down, his muscles coiling and he leapt forward, his leg extending and performing a series of spinning kicks.

A Meeting of Chance [Koka] Empty Re: A Meeting of Chance [Koka]

An innocent absent-minded stroll would seem to undermine Gidyne’s sense of time, what started at the Raikage office for a need of fresh air quickly turning into a walk throughout the village training grounds. Though they weren’t as populated as someone of his military background would strive for, there were a decent amount of Shinobi who chose to train with each other or work on their skills alone. For days now idle chatter rummaged through his mind regarding the discussion he held with Noboru regarding the Rule of Two: a clause which dictated the belief of prioritizing a duo squad system rather the traditional four squad system, comprising of a sole sensei and sole student to better provide fine tuning and care to the needs of the student. Gidyne already knew there was a need for change, as clearly the traditional system which governed so many villages for so long could be considered an indicator of why the major villages have become so weak over the years - Noboru’s squad a prime example of what usually happens - and the concept certainly had logic behind it’s actions. After all, Gidyne was a man who would prioritize quality over quantity, it mattered little the amount of Shinobi that surrounded a sole one if they had little skill to match the latter’s caliber. Were these thoughts what might’ve incentivized the Raikage to idly walk to the training grounds unannounced?

He’d take the time to overlook the terrain, questioning the last time he’d have visited a traditional training ground if not ever. Given his background, he was never given the opportunity to hone his skills in a controlled space such as this, with funding backing it’s grounds and peers to help assist his needs and expertise, for the most part having to go about these feats alone. He’d be classified as a prodigy by his captors long ago, and his arsenal alongside quick witted actions would clearly indicate that was the case, though the reality of simply being a prodigy wasn’t his only defining trait as a Shinobi. He worked tirelessly, ambition all but consuming him as he wished to seek the pinnacle of power he could ever possess, raising the ceiling time and time again not wanting to be convinced it was reached with every pressing moment. Such drive from those prodigal or not would be desolate these days, witnessed by the lack of strong able bodies around now and Gidyne was convinced one didn’t need to be a prodigy to come to their potential. After all, those who see him now only witnessed the final product, not what it once was during it’s beta phase; the poor, defenseless boy who could barely wield a dagger without tiring out quickly or uphold a clone for more than a few seconds. What many fail to understand is that Kutari wasn’t born a prodigy, he worked for it and therefore expected the same results from the world around, especially those who were catered to and never experienced true hell.

As he once again became lost in thought, a scream would echo throughout the grounds as he instinctively looked towards it, louder than the other Shinobi in the distance. It’s yelp commanded acknowledgement and seeked power, a voice that suggested there be greater power which lies within what currently ran in abundance. A smirk ran along his pale skin as the chilled winds would run across his deep ocean hair devoid of light, though held down fine enough with his Raikage hat. His black cloak would follow the winds imprint as he observed with composure the Taijutsu user, his strength certainly was present however there was little tact in his abilities, or at the very least not enough compared to what he could pull off if given the opportunity.

He didn’t recognize the boy off glance, which excited him. A face he didn’t know displaying a fine level of strength from the start, such a surprise remained uncommon for his line of work which would be the main drive for his next actions. As he closed the distance between his new prey, he’d watch more of his moves out of an interest to see what else he had under his belt. Though as it went on he’d fail to see any particular forms or attacks that packed a punch and bolstered his immediate skills. Now 5 meters away he’d call out to the boy being behind him, a flicker of intrigue coating his cold blue eyes, “The Eight Gates...I didn’t realize we had a Genin that possessed such brute strength to back up the Gates. Do you typically train without a sparring partner? Your moves lack commitment and strength behind them, is that due to training alone or is it a lack of Taijutsu arsenal to choose from? You clearly were able to learn the Eight Gates, so you certainly have aptitude. Surely you have access to the various other gates.” His look of interest would clearly be painted along his face, though he would also be testing the teen to see if he had the ability to uphold his concentration or if his control ran thin when distracted. His curiosity would be vocalized as he began to question the boy and get a better understanding of who he was and how such a rough gem got past him during his time away.

A Meeting of Chance [Koka] Empty Re: A Meeting of Chance [Koka]

Sun Dec 06, 2020 11:41 am
Ryus leg extended to its furthest point, he pointed his toes to impact his imaginary targets jaw, as he spans round he could a glimpse of someone behind him, but he was moving too fast to take in any more details. He brought his arm around to help with the torque of the spin and extended his other leg to strike at the ribs of his imaginary target, as his manoeuvre was complete a voice called out from behind him. Sweat began to form on his forehead, he turned to meet the voice expecting to see another cloud ninja. Ryu's eyes widened, the first thing that stood out to him was the flamboyant Kage hat, signifying the man as the Raikage. Immediately Ryu brought his arms to his side, his hands now unclenched and his fingers extended, he then straightened his legs and bowed deeply, keeping his head starring at the floor. "Y-Yes sir, I have no team to help with my training, my opponents are often trees or training dummies" The first syllable faltered in his mouth as he responded to the leader of the village. His moves lacked commitment? The thought shot through his head like a kunai, was he being admonished? Was it constructive criticism? Ryuzaki had never met the man before so had no inkling to his meaning, but he would not waste this opportunity to find out.

"I believe that my library of techniques is lacking, sir. I mostly learn from scrolls or books, I have no one to truly show me new techniques or more importantly to hone them when I have learnt them". Ryu tilted his head upwards so he was now looking at the man he knew to be Gidyne. "I was able to unlock the first gate through sheer perseverance, but I have been unable to unlock any of the other gates, it is currently my entire training focus" Ryu then straightened his body so he was stood up straight, his hands still by his sides "I am Ryuzaki Nara, it is a pleasure to meet you, sir." His focus on the improvement outweighing his usual trepidation with social situations. Ryuzaki then realised that he still had the eight inner gates formation active, he closed his eyes and allowed the window he imagines while opening the gates to close, his body was suddenly flushed with a lack of energy, although it was not too severe as he had only briefly opened the first gate.

As he closed his eyes a memory came to him, he saw his deceased master, on top of a cliff near there home, his back to him, as he talked about the lesson of fear. The words rang clear in Ryu's mind Are you afraid? He realised that this was one of those moments if he let it slip by he would be filled with regret, he was afraid that he would not capitalise on this moment to learn from the most powerful ninja currently in the village. "Do you possess the eight gates, sir? Is there any clue you could give me to accessing the second gate and beyond?" Ryuzaki began to examine the man standing before him, taking in his appearance and the way he held himself if there was anyone in this village to idolize it was Gidyne. The man had long flowing jet black hair, the colour matching Ryus own, they stood at about the same height, As Ryu waited for the response from his senior he also began to study his mannerisms, trying to gauge anything he could from what the man did not say as well as the words that would come from his mouth.

A Meeting of Chance [Koka] Empty Re: A Meeting of Chance [Koka]

Wed Dec 16, 2020 11:57 pm
Gidyne would produce a partial smile as he stared towards the teen before him, he was correct in seeing reminiscents of himself from a previous life in his dedication and work ethic so early on into his career, though the emotions the two displayed and their ambitions would be partially different in what fueled them. Kutari was an envoy of animosity and disgust, while Ryuzaki seemed to provide a more innocent and genuine tone. He definitely showed promise, though would he be one of the key pinnacle Shinobi within the next generation that would uplift Kumo’s prowess and retain it’s dominance?

The two would be separated, both facing a narrow water bank as Gidyne held the high ground only slightly, he’d peacefully sit himself on the concrete he once stood upon, it’s stone integrity lackluster and being overly underwhelming - a disguise like any other that symbolized the state of the village. He needed there to be more warriors that would assist in the village to thrive and become prominent, and as Ryuzaki listened he looked to be intrigued in his words but listened half-heartedly as he was faced with the predicament which always clouded his mind - the success of Kumogakure.

The air was peaceful as it delicately caressed his being once more, and though the boy was still utilizing the gates he sensed there to be a similar level of clearness from his chakra reserves, he seemed to lack ill intent and simply wished to increase his skill as a Taijutsu user and Eight Gates wielder. “You’d be surprised what all you can learn from the likes of scrolls and books. Believe it or not, that’s actually a huge factor on how I got to where I am today. It might be that you’re not looking in the right places, have you tried the Thunderpeak Campus by chance?” Back when he was tethered to no single village, Gidyne’s main resource of learning and becoming stronger would come from his research and how dedicated he was to learning new and innovative ways to expand his arsenal, coming across new entries would be done by the likes of books. He was fascinated by the stories which were etched to paper, and what all they could bestow upon him. Potentially the usefulness of books and scrolls might be weighed as less valuable in a community based village, however to him it was the difference between life and death, and he made sure to vocalize it’s importance and just how far one could go.

He’d grab a patch of grass as he ripped it from it’s earthly confinements, before gently allowing the sporadic breeze to dance with the green and whisk it away, “You come off as a tender soul, Ryuzaki, which is the very reason why I believe you’ll make a fantastic Taijutsu specialist. After all, I could tell just from your output alone the among dedication and strength your body wields. That destructive force with gentle application is, in my opinion, the centerpoint of Taijutsu as a whole. Taijutsu users thrive through their use of special techniques, and the discipline and fluid approach to using and memorizing such movements is what truly brings out the power of these techniques. One can’t simply barrage their way through an intense battle with an equal and expect to win, you require patience and precision, something I imagine you have given your profile so far.” The grass would be yanked out of the ground as he spoke about strength, but when let go as indicated when referring to soft movements, acting as a means of symbolism to the process.

He’d listen to Ryuzaki’s plea to help him in gaining the second gate, and for a moment he paused, sitting there staring at the boy with little indication of his thoughts. He studied the youth greater, wondering if this would truly help him or set him back; he certainly wished to help the villagers here to become stronger, though the last thing he wished was for them to grow a dependence on Gidyne as previous Kage’s would be. Surely the main reason he asked Gidyne for help would be due to his status, and for that reason he needed to practice his own form of discipline out of the interests of Ryuzaki’s growth: one perceived to know the answers to all would only become a deterrent to people seeking out their own truths. Though surely some selective advice would prove effective in this scenario, “ It’s true I’m able to utilize the Eight Gates to their entirety, however you should definitely consider this as nothing more than a coincidence as nothing more...At the end of the day, you’re the only one who can reach the second gate and beyond, and you’re your best teacher, and I wish for my villagers to keep that in mind in diligence to overcome their strifes. Though of course, I’ll help you, I’ve taken a liking to you after all. The gates are similar to the fundamental laws of Taijutsu, and just as it requires strength and fluidity to allow the gates to flow through your body progressively, we all are unique in our own way. There’s different forms of strength and being gentle, just as you and I aren’t the same. Maybe your scrolls didn’t fully inform you of the purpose or place where the Eight Gates power comes from. When I imagine the first gate, as it is based on removing the mental inhibitions of yourself, I summon the drive that set me on this journey and the rage that consumed me for a long period of time, before reeling it back into my ambition to persevere as I did in my past. So in that case, how exactly do you picture or reach the First gate? What comes to your mind? A relative and wish to protect or do them proud, relishing a great fight? There is no wrong answer here, after all you did reach the First Gate. It’s all personal preference.

A Meeting of Chance [Koka] Empty Re: A Meeting of Chance [Koka]

Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:42 am
The man before him was certainly measured, he obviously took time to think about his words instead of just blurting them out, Ryu continued to study him as he took a pause. He thought he could see the edges of a smile creep on the man's lips, but he could not be sure. Ryu listened intently as Gidyne spoke, but his mind raced, does he smile out of curiosity or contempt? Is he messing with me to pass the time? Ryu shook his head ever so slightly as his social anxiety started to creep into his thoughts. NO, the thought exploded from the center of his mind and blew away the doubt, I will not pass up this opportunity, the thought was accompanied with resolve. "I have not been permitted into the Thunderpeak campus as of yet, there are currently no instructors" Ryu brought his hand up to his mouth as he spoke, but it was certainly a place he wanted to visit, but his thought process had excluded him from visiting the place so far.

Ryu thought on the words Gidyne spoke to him about bulldozing his way through the taijutsu techniques, unfortunately, that had been exactly what Ryu had been doing since the loss of his father and teacher. He had read about a technique or seen it performed in past memories and then just practiced it over and over again until he had a crude imitation of it. I wonder how inefficient I have been he thought. How much further could I have progressed at this point if I was not so scared socially, so afraid to seek out people to help me, exactly like is in front of me now, no longer, the thoughts only bolstered his resolve in changing tact.

A Tender soul? On the surface, these words sound like detrimental indictments, but Ryu could sense only genuine praise in the man's voice. Ryu knew that the man who led the village would be different from his run of the mill villagers, but he was surprised by the words he used. To their entirety, so he could use the gates to the same level as his master, but how much stronger was this man I front of him then the strength he had seen his master display, after all, he was only a jounin compared to the leader of the village, what would the gate of death look like multiplying the power of the person in front of him. Ryu let the smile extended fully across his face as the man said he had taken a liking to him, was that acceptance? Ryu would think on his words later, for now, he would try to put them to good use. Ryu looked up to the sky as Gidyne finished speaking "What did I feel the first time I opened the gates? For you it was rage, for me it was certainly despair. I watched my father open all eight gates, then the next time I trained I was able to open the gate of Opening. Since then all I have been trying to do is push the chakra from the first gate to the second and force the gate through, but precision you say, let me try this again"

Ryu took a few steps backward and brought his hands up to just below his shoulders, his forearm extended but his elbow bent so his clenched fists were level with his shoulders. Closing his eyes Ryu started to build chakra up in his core, as it swelled he pushed it out in all directions and allowed it to travel through his network until it coalesced in the left hemisphere of his brain. Ryu imagined the swinging door as he had always done before, the chakra blew through it and it swung open violently on its hinges "Gate of Opening" the words came from his mouth as strength flooded through his system, the usual aching pain that came with the technique began to creep through his muscles, but he was acclimated to it at this point. Ryu then pushed the chakra further through his network towards the right hemisphere of his brain, he once again imagined a swinging door on hinges, but impossible hung in the air with no doorframe. Chakra collided with the door, but as per usual nothing happened, as if water was colliding with a cement wall. Ryu made visible Tsk as he bit down on his lip, cursing that once again he could not open the gate, however, then the words of his leader came to him. Ryu thought back to the last time he had seen his master, as he stared down many adversaries and he looked back at Ryu, the resolve to open the eight gate already taken root within him. All Ryu saw was a smile, and then despair hit him, he would never see that smile directed at him again, a tear formed at the edge of his eye and started to roll down his cheek. Ryu tilted his head upwards and started to scream out loud, power starting to build within him, then the gate started to shake, vibrate in place. After what felt like an eternal second the chakra burst through the door and it flung open inwardly "Gate of Healing OPEN" Ryu screamed at the top of his lungs, RESOLVE, the next lesson his master was going to teach him but died before he could. Energy started to flood through his system, he felt revitalized, like all the pain from the previous gate was washed away, and all the exhaustion of his previous training was a thing of the past. Ryu opened his eyes to look at what was now in his mind his mentor, "I'm going to push further" he said, resolve settling in his eyes for the first time. Ryu widened his stance and bent down slightly, his arms staying at height but ducking his head further into his chest. Ryu pushed the chakra from his right hemisphere down his network and to the top of his spine, now in his mind, he started to see the gates connecting together, they were not separate techniques, but levels of the same one, Ryu had misunderstood this fact from his limited reading on the fact, perhaps in the Thunderpeak Archives, he would have had better material. The chakra washed up against the gate again, as it did it shook but did not open, Ryu once again thought about the despair he felt for his lack of power. The image of his master sticking his thumb into his chest and opening the gate of death shoots through his mind like a spear and the third gate blew open. His skin began to turn red, he could feel the heat building up, bubbling and boiling just below his skin, his pupils disappeared from his eyes, his veins bulged from his forehead and his hair shoot up and began to flow in some invisible wind "Gate of Life, OPEN". Pain once again began to creep into Ryus muscles, this time it was greater, but he could handle it. MORE, the thought hit Ryu. Connecting to the next gate Ryu sent chakra further down his spine, once again hitting the hanging door, however this time it blew right open, he did not need to picture anything else "Gate of Pain OPEN". Now pain began to shoot all over his body, reaching the point where he could no longer concentrate, Ryu mind went blank and his fist unclenched, the aura around him evaporated and he fell to the ground, he fell face-first into the ground, for a second he could not move, he shouted, more tears streaming down his face, but this time from happiness "THANK YOU SENSEI", he gained a mouthful of dirt for his effort, but he had not had a moment of happiness like this in some months.

A Meeting of Chance [Koka] Empty Re: A Meeting of Chance [Koka]

Tue Dec 29, 2020 12:45 pm
The Uchiha would spectate with intrigue as Ryuzaki absorbed his words and clearly put them to good use, an ambitious man as he took the advice devised from Gidyne and went above and beyond to blow away the Kage’s expectations in what a lowly Genin could achieve in a matter of seconds. It was an uncanny resemblance really, a prodigal specimen before him simply held back by his own doubts and mental blockage, the right push and the likes of what he could potentially achieve was astronomical in size. He came to this boy struggling to push past to the second Gate, and in some way in a matter of seconds his power quadrupled and he was able to reach the Gate of Pain, the fourth gate, despite the typical strain it’d leave on the mind and body striking through so many gates so swiftly. Many advent wielders of the Gates would have to grow accustomed to such an intense power up, leaving such deliberate consequences, even Gidyne had issues with it at first, however it seemed he was in a sense immune to such effects, be it from willpower or ignorance.

‘This boy is the real deal’ he’d think in his head, though not even a second after he’d realize it was simply his overbearing will as the boy quickly plummeted into the dirt before him, completely exhausting himself and likely building up a hefty train from such an immodest training regiment. Though Gidyne personally would never take such a risk on his own state, which brought about his more calculated and natural progression of the Gates, the emotional boy would clearly see it from a different perspective and go about his interests to obtain these gates. Potentially he wished to prove to himself he could go beyond, or maybe sheer excitement of reaching the second gate caused him to put aside caution to sate his deprived hunger. Regardless, he was an amusing teen to come across to say the very least, and he wielded a potential that could overcome many hurdles for the future to come. Certainly an individual he’d want to keep around and keep in good touch, if not to recruit then to witness his progression and the power he could obtain. For the icing on the cake, he seemed harmless from a personality perspective, someone he didn’t need to be so serious with all the time or weary of, at least for the time being.

Greed will certainly be the death of you one day, given your discipline. Though for the time being, congratulations. I didn’t expect you to be so eager to shoot through so many gates like that, though now you see passion can be a curse and a gift. Don’t let emotions overwhelm you on the battlefield, I’ve seen many die to their own egos or emotionally driven onslaughts.” He would’ve came down to Ryuzaki, hovering over him by the head as he squatted down to speak with the boy, a casual expression over his face hidden behind a calloused view of traumatic stories of war featured in his eyes. Though Gidyne’s thoughts would need to remain intact as the other half stayed tightly in place, “Now, I would imagine you’ve overexerted yourself and can no longer train. Even if you think you could, I personally wouldn’t recommend it, otherwise you might lose your career just as soon as you started it. What do you say to some lunch? It’s around that time and I can’t be asked to return to that forsaken office with a mountain of paperwork. It’ll be my treat, name your favorite cuisine or restaurant and we’ll go.” The favorable winter air would appetize Gidyne’s senses, preferring the cooler elements to the harsh heat of the wind country’s summer. He’d look to stay outside for as long as you could, and potentially learn more about this boy Ryuzaki. He seemed to not have many friends or comrades to converse with, and if he was left to his own devices at the moment he might one day disappear or lose his efficiency, if what he just witnessed was anything to go by his discipline. If he agreed, he’d wait for the boy to rise up with tactful positive reinforcement, and would lead the way to the restaurant of his choice after he spoke of it, allowing Ryuzaki to ask any question he so wished during the time though not starting the conversation as he would enjoy the setting of the early afternoon.

A Meeting of Chance [Koka] Empty Re: A Meeting of Chance [Koka]

Wed Jan 13, 2021 4:17 pm
Ryuzaki took a few very deep breaths, each one full of tears and dust from the ground. He tried to move his arms but the sheer pain and exhaustion from opening that many gates in a row and for the first time certainly took their toll on Ryu. Gidyne knelt down by his head and talked for a few minutes, spewing wisdom and kindness, but also a warning. Ryu was able to move slightly after a few minutes and pushed himself up to a seated position "The pain and pressure on the muscles and bones are unbelievably different from gate to gate, this will definitely need some practice" Ryu said a smile creeping onto the edge of his lips. "You're right that was unbelievably stupid to burst through them" Ryu managed to get up to his feet and brushed the dirt off of his front.

Ryu thought for a moment and then it hit him where he would like to eat, a good amount of protein would be needed "There's this bbq place I like to eat, we could go there" Ryu said as he started to slowly lead the way. As the pair headed towards the restaurant Ryu thought about his goal, he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his adopted father, and that was into the storm ops. The personal guard of the man he now talked to, would it be silly to ask him about it? or would this be his only chance? Ryu decided that he would share with the man, who had obviously at least taken a passing interest in him. "Sensei, I am aiming to become a member of the Storm Ops, is there anything I can do other than my training and gaining battle experience to increase my ability for advancing to such a force?" Ryu said, he tried his hardest not to sound nervous as he spoke, but the exhaustion he currently felt sapped at his will and any spare will he had was aimed at keeping him upright as his muscles burned and he could feel hairline fractures all along his bones.
