A misplaced creature, meets another Empty A misplaced creature, meets another

Sat Feb 01, 2020 4:03 pm
“Back in this damned heat.”

Taichi moaned as he stood on the village wall, looking out on the endless sea of sand that was before him. He wasn’t sure what to do with his life at this point, he felt as though he was just aimlessly wandering through life without so much as a direction. Just a block of ice within a sea of insanity, he was floating, but slowly disintegrating and would soon drown if he did not gain himself a purpose in life soon.

The life of a Missing Nin was as fantastic as it was miserable. On one hand, you can do whatever you want without a Kage or anyone looking over you and telling you what you can or can’t do. But on the other hand, you were without a purpose, just left to your own devices and allowed to do anything, as long as you are ready to deal with the consequences. It sounded like it would in a fairy tale, a wandering rogue with nothing but his own moral code guiding his every action. But in reality, it was a sad state of living when you are relegated to nothing but yourself.

While Taichi used to be mad at the village system, he knew that there wasn’t much he could do to destroy it. He gave up that pipe dream of revenge after his conversation with Kenshin in the training grounds, he looked to the side of the wall, where the training grounds sat. He remembered the conversation that he had with “Stark” who ended up being Kenshin Uzumaki himself, the Ragdoll. The last Kazekage of the village hidden within the sand. The conversation they had together, although brief, was still an eye opening one. He learned the plans that Kenshin had for the village, to turn the entire village into a Black market and training ground for those who wanted to gain power through any means necessary. Granted, Taichi was not one to think he was above those who would gain their power through transplants. He had gained the power of Wood style through the means of a transplant and it was one of the best decisions that he had ever made.

He grew tired and bored of just standing on top of the village walls, looking into the distance, he decided that he was going to hop down and explore the village a little more, in the way that it was now. He leaped off the wall and landed onto his feet safely, then he strolled through the streets of Suna, feeling his mind wander through its memories that he had at each individual corner. He past by the burnt remnants that was his fiance’s home, he heard the screaming, but it was different this time, he felt more confident in the face of the flashbacks. He knew that it was time that he actually conquered his fears, or at least try to. He stood in front of the ashes that remained of his fiance’s home, and he couldn’t help but stare off into space, partially looking at the ashes, while still fixating on the memories that was the day of her death. The day his home was destroyed and turned into this wasteland of bandits and vagabonds.

Taichi kneeled down and he placed his hands on one of the beams that had been charred, but not completely brought to ashes. He channeled his water chakra onto the beam and he poured a small amount of water onto the charred remains over her home, feeling a strange sense of closure as the water hit the ashes that set below. A few tears of his own welled up and fell down from his face, shimmering in the hot desert sun. He watched as his tears mixed with the water from his chakra. As his chakra poured water onto the ashes that lay on the ground, he could hear the screams begin to fade away in his mind. They were still present, but they were far enough in his mind, that they were but a faint memory. He knew that this world was a harsh one, that was a lesson he learned long ago. But due to how his life had continued to progress, he saw the value of life go from that of the utmost importance, to very little indeed.

He used to think that he was going to be the one to save everyone, but that was nothing more than a pipe dream, the reality of the situation was he was going to save no one. In fact, he was the one to put people in danger like he did in Fang. That was him, not a savior of the masses like he used to dream about being. The goodness of people is so small and futile when forces such as fear and anger come into play, then goodness is nothing more but tiny obstacle that needs to be shoved out of the way to get to people’s true desires and destinations. Was the world going to continue like that? Most likely, and there was nothing that a little Missing Ninja could do to stop the masses from fighting each other like two siblings bickering over the space in the back seat of the wagon.

He stood next to the charred remnants for a few more minutes, before finally deciding to move on from the location of his fiance’s ashen grave, he gave the sight one last look over. He noted every detail in his mind and walked away. He felt as though he was truly leaving a piece of his past behind him, not just literally behind him. He felt as though a cancer had been cut out of his body. Instead of the screaming that was constantly reminding him of his past, he felt that he may actually be able to push through this part of his life and move on to the other traumas that plagued his thoughts.

As he walked through the roads of Suna, he was looking down each of the cross roads, seeing if he would find anything of interest. It only took a few minutes before he began hearing a certain roar that sounded as if it had come from an animal with a grand stature. He ran up the walls of the building that sat next to him, he ran to the direction of the sound’s source. After a few minutes, he found exactly where the angry sound was coming from. He peered down and gazed at a marvelous sight, a giant Snow Leopard in the middle of the desert. “Must have been dragged in by some trappers. Dumb bastards either let it out, or it finally had enough of the trapper’s shit.”

Taichi thought for a few moments about how he was going to calm this beast. He looked over the edge for a few more moments and examined the animal. “Cuts on its shoulders, looking as if they were from a whip. I hope this beast got some of its revenge.” The Leopard's head shot up and saw Taichi standing there on the top of the building. Blood covering the mouth of the animal. “Well I guess that answers that hope indeed. Alright, I guess now is as good of a time as any.” Taichi said directly before dropping down to the ground directly in front of the animal with Sharingan activated.

As he impacted the ground, he stared directly into the eyes of the rampaging animal, placing it under a genjutsu just long enough for him to aid the wounds that the poor animal had sustained. As he finished tending to the animal’s wounds, it began to stir once again. The animal leaped in front of itself about five meters, to gain some ground between the two of them. Taichi stood there, slightly crouched, as if he was a fellow cat giving it a slight bow. “It’s okay, girl. It’s okay I got you.” Taichi tried to calm the animal, before it came after Taichi full of rage and obvious fear.

The large cat struggled for a second, but then caught her footing and dashed towards Taichi. He thought for a moment, then just before she reached him. The cat fell and slid to his feet. She was panting uncontrollably, trying to get back to her feet, but she was in too bad of shape. Taichi knelt down to meet her. “Your wounds are mostly tended to. I think right now you are just exhausted, calm girl, you’re okay.” Taichi pet her fur, feeling all of the scars that she had along her body. Anger building within him, thinking of the bastards that did this to a poor creature.

The cat fell asleep on the ground, causing Taichi to need help moving her to a safer location. He created two wood clones from his own chakra pool and had them help him move the cat inside an abandoned shop that was directly to the side of them. The three Taichi’s picked the cat up, and brought her to cover. Taichi stayed with the cat, gently rubbing her fur, feeling sorry for the poor creature.

Night came and went, and Taichi had fallen asleep on the big animal. By the time the sun had begun rising. Taichi’s two clones woke him up, telling him there was a group of what looked like hunters looking for the animal. Taichi, with a wave of his hand and a telepathic command, “Handle it. Kill them all. No prisoners.” The two clones nodded their head and they left the building. Taichi could hear the exchange going on between the clones and hunters. According to the clones there were four hunters looking for the cat, so Taichi gave them the go ahead to end the exchange. The two clones looked at each other for a few moments as the hunters began asking about the large cat that was just within the abandoned shop next to them. The clones both instantly knew what their jobs were going to be.

The two clones sprung into action, one activating the Wood Release: Cutting technique, having three branches protruding from their bodies and impaling three of the four hunters. The fourth hunter began running away. But the other clone placed his hands on the ground after performing the bird hand seal. Spikes made of pure earth came up from the ground and impaled the fourth hunter as he ran away from the two clones. Taichi then had one of his clones activate the Mayfly technique and drag all four bodies into the Earth, so they could be within the soil, making their existence have some sort of value.

Shortly after the hunters were dealt with, the large cat began to stir. Upon gaining its consciousness, she leaped toward the other side of the room. Taichi got to his feet and bowed to the large cat one more time. The cat struggled internally for a moment, trying to fight it’s own instinct and not maul the figure bowing before her. Finally, she made her decision. She walked up to Taichi, and just as she was within striking distance, she bowed her head to Taichi. Taichi lifted his head to see what she was doing, and smiled. He slowly moved his hand over her fur, he began hearing the loudest purr you ever heard.

Taichi then looked down at the creature, who stood up at about his sternum, and asked if she liked the name “Honi.” The moment the name came out of his mouth, it was almost as if she understood every word he spoke. She looked at Taichi for a moment, then rubbed her face against Taichi’s mid section affectionately. “I won’t let anything happen to you, Honi. I promise you.” The two then walked out of the abandoned shop and Taichi dispelled both of the wood clones. The two would then run off into the desert to get some exercise in before the end of the day.
