Monks, Pet Owners, and other Crazy People (P)

With his jacket taking all of the force of the attack, Kyousuke pulled Shouhei under the ground leaving only his head visible. Leaving the earth, the jounin would surface and pull the kunai out of his jacket. Holding it, he would look down at Shouhei. “Good job, hitting me with this. Now let’s get you out of there.” Punching the ground, the a few feet from the boy’s head the earth would start to crack loosening all of the dirt keeping him trapped.


If he hadn’t gotten out of the ground already the jounin would walk over and offer a hand. “Well, I’ll let you start this time I won’t do anything sneaky. I’ll also show you some techniques.” The jounin would stand ready waiting for the first attack.

Well if he didn’t need the help it was no use in forcing it, he would watch as Shouhei removed himself from the dirt. “There are certain things as a ninja even I cannot do. I am not one for poker faces and tricks, but others are much better at it.” It seemed some dirt had shifted into the genin’s pocket during his brief encounter with the dirt. I don’t recall being called that, but there is always a first.


Kyousuke would let Shouhei move in close before moving to block the strike with his leg and then catch the two-incoming shuriken, by gripping the flat sides between his fingers. “A barrage of attacks is good to confuse an enemy, but you have to keep it up.” Holding the shuriken, he would put both into one hand, before opening one of his jacket pockets and throwing one inside. “Don’t worry I’ll give them back.”



After that the skin on his hand would change color and form into a mace with a few spikes on it. “This is part of my kekkei genkai.” He would then push the limb forward slowly (speed 5), so that he could avoid. If he chose not to he would have a bruise later. The mace not be fast, but there was plenty of power behind it. I hope he doesn’t try to block and instead just moves.

“Take you out for tea?” He asked. Did that mean he wanted to take this up a notch. “All right, I guess I’ll go a little harder.” Kyousuke kept his mace at the same speed and was happy that Shouhei dodged, he then kicked the mace, but it wouldn’t budge as Kyousuke fought against the pressure using his own arm to keep the weapon up. “Nice kick.” With that the mace would begin to turn back into a hand. I guess it is time to teach him some taijutsu attacks. With the kunai in his hand it would be too dangerous to just grab him, so he needed a weapon of his own.

Making a blade on his arm (speed 20) one meter long the jounin prepped to intercept the blade. (speed 60, sharpness 102 [70 base +32 sharpness booster]) Chipping the blade was all the ninja was after, so that Shouhei would realize how sharp his protrusions were. (Basically just damaging it to the point that a quick sharpening will be able to fix it, not trying to break your stuff.) After he stopped the blade and only if he stopped it would he would then reach out his other hand speed 15 and attempt to grab the boy’s face power 10. “Iron Claw!” He would shout if successful. If the attack reached its mark, there would be some discomfort. It was awkward to have your face grasped and with such power. If the blade was still going he would avoid and try to grab the boys arm, before trying the iron claw technique.

After a few seconds, he would let go, maybe he wanted to try the technique out. Kyousuke would of course let him use it on him, there was no point without a test subject. Being a crash test dummy was one of the things his resilient body was good for. With nature energy infused into his cells it was difficult to hurt him.

With Shouhei dodging the incoming attack to his face, Kyousuke smiled briefly. This isn’t going to be as easy I thought is it. The boy was slightly better than he had assumed, he could avoid the iron claw. Kyousuke didn’t know if it was a narrow miss or a great one, the best fighters knew that a narrow miss was better it gave less opportunity to change the direction of their punches. Seeing that Shouhei was preparing to kick he would wait to move at the moment the foot was about to land on his face, but it would be difficult as Kyousuke was almost a whole foot taller.

As the attack struggled to find its mark another foot came from another direction. Kyousuke knew this attack well he wasn’t truly aiming for his face Kyousuke knew these were feints. “Leaf Whirlwind!” Kyousuke called out while bringing his leg up to block the actual attack. (speed 60, health 40) “The attempt was good, but the feint was not. On a taller opponent, it is difficult to reach the head, aim a bit lower around the sides or the chest.” The attack at his chest was executed well Shouhei aimed at a place he could easily reach without putting himself at risk. When it came to taijutsu you had to be able to strike quickly and return the limb you strike with just as quickly, otherwise it leaves you vulnerable. Example, if Kyousuke wished to grab the leg using the overextension to throw the limb over his shoulder and push the genin to the ground he could.

“Your attack was good. Just remember in taijutsu overextending your body is bad. Keep your form tight.” As he was finished speaking Kyousuke would do a flip backwards and land on his hands (speed 70) If Shouhei moved in closer he would lower his body and move his hands, so that he could use the leaf gale to knock Shouhei over. The leg would attack at speed 30 and power 5. After the kick was thrown out he would bring the limb back to himself to serve as defense against incoming attacks. To be fair Kyousuke didn’t truly need the limb to defend he could make extra limbs if need be to do that. The sage transformation made one good at attack and defense, sharp blades could be made to counter incoming strikes. Of course, the jounin would never do that in a spar, training wasn’t about showing off what you can do its about learning. In truth Kyousuke was learning just as much as Shouhei the subjects they were learning may have been different, but the boy was teaching him something. Who not to underestimate.

With the kunai coming towards him, the ninja could catch the thing, move out of the way, or block. Kyousuke moved his hands around on the ground to have the object miss him by a narrow margin. I hope he keeps track of these and can find them once we are done. This was the reason Kyousuke had caught the first one and stored it away for later. He knew the price of ninja tools were expensive especially for genin, where it was harder to come across well-paying missions. With the kunai thrown it seemed Shouhei was ready to close in the gap.

This is what Kyousuke had planned and he performed the kick which Shouhei managed to defend, against by rolling back and knocking him off of his feet. Kyousuke wouldn’t follow instead he would get back onto his feet and get ready to receive an attack from the boy. He sure does like to be on the offensive side, but that’s okay when engaging an opponent, a good offense can prove a great defense. Seeing the genin begin to make hand seals it was clear something non-taijutsu based was coming. The jounin watched as Shouhei performed the hand seals. Maybe he’ll be teaching me something I can use.



As the faulty whip of water was produced Kyousuke did the same seals as Shouhei and produced a water whip. “Oh, that’s cool. Thanks for showing me.” With the same speed and power Kyousuke would extend his whip to meet his students. “Just rat, dog, and ox, then you’ve got a weapon.” I wonder if I can conduct electricity through this or even tie people up for extended periods of time? Dropping the whip the jounin would see that it remained as he maintained his chakra connection. “Oh, it does work to tie people u, huh. You see that?” He would say pointing.
