Meeting With a False Child [p,nk]

Kozata listened to the boy as he spoke, holding onto every word as if it were a drop of gold or some other precious metal. Truly, he was a lucky boy. How many other students got this kind of opportunity? None that he knew, that was for sure. It surely wasn't every day that an actual ninja came to teach rather than to make mischief or intimidate. So... the clone jutsu. Vigil seemed to explain it easily enough, but he still had his doubts. If he tried it, would he botch it up? He was the "loser" of the Shima ninja academy, after all. From the beginning, he had never truly been seen as a talented boy, just a "thing that existed in the world". But... he couldn't afford to lose face in front of Vigil.
So... he already knew the motions for the handseals, that was easy enough. He went through them, forming them with his hands while concentrating his chakra. He imagined an image of him springing up like Virgil's had, and indeed, as the chakra flowed forth from his body, one did. It wasn't all too clear, but it was certainly an excellent start. He gawked at it for a bit, then gasped, "Hey... I think I did it." At this, the clone would vanish. Throughout the time that it had been there, the clone had mimicked his motions perfectly.Kozata's mind scrambled. 
"Hey, Vigil... how does chakra make that happen? No one has bothered to explain this to us in the academy, so I thought I'd ask you... maybe you would know?" Kozata was pretty interested in this stuff now. He was certainly more interested than before in this mysterious energy, and its applications. He would look hopefully and expectantly at the other boy standing there.

Apparently, Vigil didn't bother to answer. Oh well. Kozata had learned the jutsu, and how to pretty much use some of his chakra. To him, this was an enormous landmark. He decided to leave, and did, walking out of the gym into the how weather outside. Ah, what a day it had been, He had met a new friend, and learned one of the academy techniques. Now... he needed to master the other one. Shouldn't be too hard to get the other one down, he thought, as he started walking. If only he remembered what it was called... Kozata hightailed it home.

Vigil would watch as the other boy did the hand seals and a clone appeared next to him. He seemed to have gotten the gist of it quite easily. Maybe Vigil was a good teacher, or maybe the boy was simply talented. After the clone disappeared Kozata would ask Vigil a question. He wanted details, how chakra made this possible, how was the clone formed. It was something Vigil himself have not given much thought, nor did he research it, therefore he did not have the details. Taking a minute to think for himself about it, apparently he took one moment too many and Kozata became impatient. Before the exemplar could say a thing the boy would leave the gym not even thanking.

But Vigil would actually stay. He got interested in the idea of how the clone was made. It was basically an illusion, but not like genjutsu illusion, as from what he understood those manipulated the target's mind, while this merely created an optical image. But how, was it manipulating the moisture in the air? Like an image printed on the mist? The train of thought would go in that direction and soon Vigil found himself learning to use his water attunement to control the moisture. He already knew what it would lead to, so it did not take him much to quickly adapt this concept into a technique, before he would leave the gym as well.
