deforestation mission

Mission specs:

Ryusei was tired. He was tired mentally and needed a nap. He was getting tired physically from running around the village for so long. He was most tired, though, of doing silly missions that people who were not ninjas could do. However, the general lack of military oriented missions was good – it meant that they were in peaceful times and the ninja’s military strength was nowhere as needed as in the ancient days when clans were separated individually, instead of forming villages. Still, it never hurt to train and get stronger in case a local ninja went bad. There was also the fact that ninjas could do most missions (even cooking, depending on the ninja) faster and more effectively than the ordinary civilian. It did not make it any less annoying for the ninja who were not considered strong enough to actually fight rogue ninjas yet. At least the pay was relatively good, and the missions were generally safe.
Sitting in the office and giving his report, Ryusei received another mission again. These back to back missions quite frankly, wore him out. He still had to eat though, so he did not refuse the missions no matter how much he hated them.
Ryusei pulled his book out again and studied the contents. He gave it another try, hardening his body, and this time looking for a pole to deliberately walk into. He hit the pole, and felt almost nothing. Not bad, but he could do better.
Ryusei arrived at the tree, and stared up at it. It was fairly large. Experimentally, he hardened his fist and punched the tree. A small dent appeared in the bark. He smiled. This jutsu could be useful after all.
After borrowing a hacksaw, he got to work. He clambered through the branches for exercise, cutting them each off one by one, while standing on the tree trunk. Soon he had them all cut off, and then it was time to cut down the tree trunk. This was relatively simple, though time consuming, as the hacksaw was not big enough to cut the entire trunk. He ended up cutting slices out instead. When he as nearly done and he could not reach deeper with the hacksaw, he changed tactics. He clambered up on top of the tree, and started shaking it side to side so that wherever it fell it would be away from the gates. Eventually, the tree fell over, and he lugged everything off to the sawmill before reporting back to the office yet again.
