Ryusei hated the tasks that were filled with drudgery and monotony. He also did not like doing missions that ordinary people would do, since otherwise, why did they put ninjas through all that training. It was one thing to do something most would be unable to accomplish, such as fighting a bear unarmed, and surviving. It was another to be tasked with something that regular civilians could do, such as the “leadership monkey” style missions that arose when someone did not want to clean their desk themselves. Just as bad were the ones that resulted from someone completely ignoring part of their duties. In this case the remedial action fell to Ryusei, since he was a genin and had trouble getting anyting else that would get him Ryo. His current mission: to chop down and take away a large tree, that was growing just outside the village gates. This was not the only one that had had to be taken down, other trees had had to be chopped down too in the past, and all because of one gardener who was too lazy to prune the trees in his jurisdiction. Well, the gardener was being disciplined, and Ryusei had a task to do.

Ryusei walked outside the gates, wondering whether he really needed to say anything to the guards about his mission, as they would see most of it from where they stood. He laughed aloud at the absurdity of it all, as the gardener was also a ninja and would be watching Ryusei do his job for him. Ryusei, wanting a little exercise, did some chin-ups on one of the branches, falling down midway through his 14 repetition, to the amusement of the guards watching him. He rubbed his sore bottom, and groaned, at least he had managed to do part of the job already. What he did with the tree afterwards did no matter, he just couldn’t damage the village gates, the only reason he did not just bring a match and start a great big fire.

Ryusei pulled out a large axe he had requisitioned for the job, and started hacking at the base. Hacking away, he was eventually able to stop chopping, and knock the tree over with a flying kick. Afterwards, when the tree was on the ground, he went and sliced off all the branches. Wishing he had some physical clones, and not just the illusionary ones, he started carrying off the branches to the saw mill, likely to be used in training jutsu, and making paper, some of which would be for training more jutsu. The log took a little longer to bring over, and he ended up using a method he had in the past, making earthen ramps to let the log roll over, helping it all the way to the sawmill.
