Getting some Money Empty Getting some Money

Thu Mar 14, 2024 12:23 pm
Mission

Travin awoke still within the land of tea. He had been traveling to the docks to get out of this place and head off into the distance on a ship. However he was lacking the funding to be able to pay for the ship ride. Forcing him to look for work as he walked around down the road to the next town. It was in one of the many small villages that dotted the landscape of the land of Tea that Travin found some work. While walking down the road to the village he saw some strange things going on. Two birds were flying around creating massive thunder columns, or at least that is how he would describe it, as one bird would channel what appeared to be lightning chakra into a powerful wind blast and destroy things around them. It was by far the strangest thing he had seen so far on the road, but he wasn’t getting paid to deal with it and kept on going into the town. Walking into the local tavern where most of the work gets handed out in a lot of these small towns. Travin sat down on one of the bar stools and asked for a drink, dropping some money on the table. Before asking what the deal was with the birds outside of town.

The barkeep answered, telling him that someone had been teaching animals how to use ninjutsu. The thought was terrifying but Travin kept his cool, and someone was willing to pay to put a stop to it he asked. The barkeep answered once more telling him that a woman on the edge of town was offering some money to deal with it. Turning his glass up before sitting it back on the bar upside down Travin turned and walked out the tavern. Pulling a smoke out of his pocket and lighting it as he thought that this might be enough money for him to get out of this small country and get to somewhere more interesting. Walking down the street Travin made his way in the direction that the barkeep had pointed all the way to the edge of town. Where he found a fairly big house sitting with a small garden off to the side and nestled almost into a wooded area out of the way. There were two twins playing out in the front yard, as Travin walked up the drive. Their mother yelled at the kids to get back inside once she noticed Travin walking up. A response that was not out of the ordinary as he was armed and looked the part of a shinobi. She stopped him before he was able to get too close to the house. Meeting him at the gate of the fence that circled around the house. What you want she asked. Travin simply looked at her, I was told that you were offering some money to anyone that dealt with the strange animals.

The woman looked Travin up and down and told him to come on inside that she needed to explain some stuff. Travin followed the woman inside of her house, where she quickly told the children to run back outside. The house was quite nice with hardwood floors and rugs laying around to help keep the chill out of the house, and several vents running up through the floors for the heat from the wood stove he could smell to raise up through the entire house from the basement. Once Travin and the woman were both seated in the living room. With Travin making note of how comfy the seating was. She started to explain what was going on telling Travin that it was her oldest son Matt that was running around teaching these animals to perform ninjutsu. He had apparently created some kind of jutsu that allowed him to pass on knowledge of things done to animals or communicate with them she was unsure of which. She asked that Travin deal with the animals and she would deal with her son. She knew where he was and he was about to get the world's worst whippen.

Travin didn’t argue with the lady and simply got up and started to walk out, however, the lady had one more request and that was that he didn’t kill the animals and instead found something for them to do. That was probably going to be a problem. It would have been much easier to simply kill the animals but a job is a job and he needed the money right now. Walking up the road Travin thought to himself what the hell was he going to do with a bunch of animals. Lighting up another smoke he made his way over to where he saw the birds. Then a light bulb came on in his head. The town had hunters that were out and brought food in for the town, the birds would be great to have alone for hunts. Not knowing much about birds or how to train them. Travin walked over and got with a few of the hunters that were still in the town. They appeared to be very interested in the birds that could use ninjutsu, so Travin took them to the location of the birds, and after a few minutes and with the help of some nets the hunters was able to get their hands on the birds and promised that they would be trained to help hunt food.

With the birds taken care of Travin walked around town and looked for some more strange animals using ninjutsu. He had heard of a Kangaroo that was breathing fire, and while that sounded absolutely terrifying, he knew that it would make good for a police of sorts in the town. All he needed to do was find the kangaroo. Once he had located it he could talk to the shinobi or police force and see if they could use the Kangaroo. Otherwise he would have no choice but to run it off from the village and get it to hang around an area where it would do no harm to the people that passed through the area. He knew that it would not be as easy as it sounded and could be impossible, but he had made the deal to not kill the animals. Walking around the town and asking people for the location of the Kangaroo. Travin was able to find out that it stayed around the north side of the town, and didn’t really get too close to the town yet, however, it was getting closer each day as it was testing the waters. With the new information that he needed Travin headed out to the north side to try and get a look at this kangaroo.

Walking around on the edge of town it took him a few minutes before he saw the signs. Scorch marks on the ground and a few burnt bushes was all he needed to see to know that he was in the right spot. Looking around for the Kangaroo he never saw the thing coming as it slammed into his back and sent him flying through the air ten feet away from it. Getting back up and drawing his Ninjato, Travin turned ready to defend himself. The kangaroo charged and went to punch Travin in the face, but he was too slow compared to Travin’s honed speed, and he was easily able to dodge it. With a follow up strike onto the Kangaroo slightly cutting into the kangaroo’s right leg. It was meant as a warning cut to let the beast know that Travin would kill him before he let the Kangaroo kill him. The blood slowly leaked out of the Kangaroo’s leg and Travin took a step back in preparation to defend himself or chase after the Kangaroo. The Kangaroo simply stood there for a second before making handseals in front of Travin, which he recognized as the Great Fireball jutsu. With his quick reflexes and the Kangaroos clumsy handseals Travin had plenty of time to strike and slice into the hand of the kangaroo. Bringing a stop to the handseals that it was weaving, and causing it to look at Travin in a new light. Travin was unsure if it was gaining a measure of respect or hatred for him.

Travin and the kangaroo stared at each other for a long two minutes. Before the kangaroo bowed its head down in defeat. Its new found abilities that put it near the top of the food chain had just been defeated by a superior fighter. Travin told the kangaroo that he would help the police in the area to protect this area with its new found power, and one day he would return once the creature had mastered its new abilities and they would fight again. While he was unable to talk to the kangaroo he somehow could tell that it was excited about this possibility. Giving the kangaroo a motion to follow him Travin led the Kangaroo to the police station. Upon getting near the station a few of the officers came out to confront Travin and the kangaroo. There had been reports about the kangaroo attacking people and burning down stuff. Travin put his hands up to stop the officers from attacking. Telling them that he had fought the kangaroo and helped him decide to stop damaging the town and instead to help it. He also explained that they would need to help keep an eye on the kangaroo for obvious reasons, and that getting someone that was good with animals to help out for a while would also be useful.

While he was at the station the officers did inform him of a unique situation with a monkey that was able to dig through the ground, and transform into objects. Travin simply let out a sigh realizing that this was going to be harder than he had thought to get all of these animals calmed down and stop messing with the town. It was almost to the point that he was ready to just hunt down the guy causing this. However, part of the deal was that the lady would be dealing with her own son while Travin dealt with the animales. After asking a few more questions about the monkey Travin was headed off this time to the south side of the town in search of a monkey that could literally be anything. It was probably going to be the most difficult of all the animals so far that he has had to stop.

Getting closer to the south side Travin had made note that the quality of the town dropped the further south you went. Travin figured that this was probably the first animal the kid taught how to do stuff. For a couple reasons. With the quality of the city dropping down as you moved south it meant that there would be less guards and people would not be the kind to simply talk to the police to deal with stuff nearly as fast as they would anywhere else in the city. Which means that he was less likely to get caught, and the monkey probably hung out around here as well since it would be less crowded and easy to get access to food and other things for them to survive, or at least that's what Travin would have done if he was doing something like this. However, he would also have a plan as for why he was doing something like this as well. Just teaching animals to use jutsu didn’t really make much sense without a plan for this ability. On its own it was simply a useful jutsu, but with a plan to try and destabilize an area or something it could be extremely useful. The downside is that he had never heard of anything like this happening anywhere nearby and he had been traveling all over the land of tea for the past few months now. If someone was planning something like that they would need multiple people practicing the jutsu to get the speed at which they could use and activate the animals down to as little as possible. Making Travin think that this was simply some young shinobi that was bord and figured something out and wanted to mess with the village.

Travin arrived in the area that was described when he was talking to the police. A low population district near the woods downstream from the town. Putting most of the sewage within the small district. The running water from the river kept the smell down as it didn’t stay around, but it also got rid of any drinkable water coming from the river. With the surroundings and the lack of natural resources, plus the low force of shinobi made this area almost a forgotten part of the city that most just didn’t think about. Travin walked around for a while to keep an eye out for any movement or disruptions that could be the signs of a bad or weak transformation jutsu. He knew that it was not going to be easy to find this monkey as most of the area the woods was slowly starting to take back from the town. Letting the vines and bushes grow out of proportion. Jumping up onto one of the taller buildings left standing in the area Travin took a look around the district. Trying to ignore the people below him roaming around in the ruins of the building that he was standing on the roof of. It was at this time that he got distracted and looked down to see what hell was going on. When he saw that the man was being chased by a chair. That had to be the monkey using the transformation jutsu.

Reaching into his pocket and pulling out his pack of smokes, pulling one out and putting it in his mouth before lighting it with his zippo and returning everything back to his pockets. He took a few deep breaths inhaling the smoke before stepping off of what was left of the roof support he was standing and dropping a dozen feet or so to the floor. The floor gave slightly with a few creeks and both the guy running and the chair came to a stop to look at him. Taking another drag from his cigarette and holding it between his index and bird fingers for a few drags before speaking. Telling them that he was here for a shape shifting monkey. The man passed out unsure of fear, shock, or panic. The chair jumped out the window and shifted back into a monkey with Travin hot on tail flicking the cigarette out the window and hitting the monkey in the back with it as he chased out onto the tree. The monkey had no idea what was going on and decided to start to climb the tree. Travin hot on his heels using the surface walking jutsu kept pace with the monkey. Who didn’t like that someone was able to keep pace with him in the trees, and decided that he needed to jump over to the next tree and was able to clear the distance which was quite large for a monkey of his size. However, for Travin the size was a little more than a meter and he was able to clear it as well.

In a last ditch effort the monkey dropped to the ground while making some handseals in mid air. Travin followed him to the ground. However, the monkey didn’t stop at the ground; he slid straight into the ground as Travin landed right behind him. Damn he thought to himself as he looked down at the ground, it was almost impossible for him to figure out where he had gone. He didn’t really have any intel on the monkey other than he could use the transformation jutsu and another that let him burrow through the ground. If he had more or better intel he would probably be able to figure out at least in what direction the monkey was going to go, or how long he would be able to stay underground for. For now Travin simply watched the area looking for movement and keeping an eye out for the monkey. It didn’t take long before he saw the ground disrupt a few meters away near a building as the monkey came back up out of the ground. Thanks to Travins speed he was able to get there fast enough, and grab the monkey by the tail picking him up.

Travin held the monkey by the tail and walked back into town. Heading to the zoo he had planned that the zoo would be able to handle the monkey for now, as he really couldn’t think of anything that the monkey could do other than be some kind of attraction to help make the little town a bit more money. Making his way to the zoo a few people stopped and looked at him carrying the monkey by the tail but no one said anything with all the animals doing weird stuff with jutsu lately, they just assumed the monkey was another one that had gone crazy. Dropping the animal off at the zoo the keepers said that they would keep an eye on it and make sure that it didn’t get out to cause more trouble.

Travin returned to the woman that had given him the job. It had turned out to be more trouble than it was worth, but he was finally done with it. Looking at the women and letting her know just what all had happened and what he had done to stop it. Travin standing outside of the house he could see a young man probably a little younger than he was standing in the window looking out. The window was dirty and the room was dark so he was unable to really make out any features that the guy had, but everything in Travins body told him that he was the one that was causing the problems with the animals and it appeared that he was grounded or something. The thought of that almost made Travin smile at someone strong enough to teach animals jutsu being grounded by their mother. Travin accepted the money from the women and turned around and headed off getting ready to leave this small town for good.
