Easy Money

Mission:

Malik was drinking at the bar with Bartos at the Manga Town Inn when a group of rowdy men stormed in. The two of them had just downed their third shot of sake each when the noisy lot made it inside. Malik raised an eyebrow at the innkeeper, expecting to have to kick some heads in very shortly. Suddenly, one of the men called out in their direction, “Mr Malik, excuse the intrusion but we need your help with something!” The large man was surprised, this was quite out of the ordinary. Usually rowdy men would enter the bar and start causing trouble. This would result in him teaching them a lesson and sending them packing before getting back to his drinks. Turning to face them, he sighed as he heard Bartos chuckling behind him.

“You have my attention, what is it you want from me?” The rest of the people in the Inn had gone silent, watching the interaction. This made the lead speaker slightly anxious, as he approached Malik and began speaking in a more hushed tone. “I am sorry for bursting in like this, but we are trying to deal with a man who seems to escape our grasp at every turn. He hired us for a job, a simple escort according to him, but now that it is time for him to pay up, he keeps running away. I admit that it is quite embarrassing, we should be able to catch the man, but something about him is causing us problems. He is quite nimble so it has been harder than expected…” The man was looking at Malik, urgency on his face.

“I overheard from someone that the man may be leaving the village today, so our time is short to catch him. We are here to ask for your assistance, we will give you 50% of the original earnings if you agree to it!” Malik raised an eyebrow once more, this sounded like a simple job with an even simpler outcome. He also very much liked to get paid, this was right up his alley. “Hmm, very well then. Give me all the information that you have and I will catch the little weasel.” The group gave out a small cheer at this, and the leader began to fill him in. His target was apparently a short man named Louie, today he was apparently wearing a bright yellow shirt and had two large teeth at the front of his mouth. It sounded as if he would stand out enough for Malik to find him.

Nodding to Bartos, Malik exited the Inn and began his search. The men had told him that he was last seen around the stables, so that is where Malik went. It took him a matter of minutes to see a flash of yellow sprint past the entrance and around the back of the stable, he had been spotted and Louie had clearly gotten spooked. Instead of dashing after him, Malik simply crouched for a moment and then jumped clean over the stable. He landed on the other side, crashing down on the fleeing man, a crunching noise rang out as his feet landed on the man’s shoulders.

“AHHH!” He was writhing in agony as Malik looked down at him. After giving him a pat down, the large man found his coin purse, taking the entire thing. “Perhaps you will think twice from now on before trying to double cross people doing a job for you. Leave this town and never return, I will crush your throat next if I ever see you again.” With that, he walked away, back to the Manga Town Inn. Taking out his cut, he threw the coin purse to the cheering mercenaries and took a seat at the bar. Bartos poured them another shot and they continued their prior conversation.
