Little Genin's First Day Empty Little Genin's First Day

Fri Sep 08, 2023 10:36 pm
Mission Details:

As it turns out, being a genin was not all that it was cracked up to be. Case in point, her current mission was to babysit some rich couple as they went about their day shopping because they had no spine and felt scared over some empty death threats. She kinda missed running through the village with those stupid tea sets. At least it kept more busy than the current activity of sitting around and watching from the rooves of the nearby buildings as the couple went about their business. Kana knew she probably should be somewhere closer so she could react to any threats easier and effectively but she really didn't care too much about it and figured it was just an empty threat and an overreacting couple with more ryo than common sense, however the pay was good and she wasn't exactly one to turn down more ryo, she had to eventually buy herself a home some day after all. Nor did she want to keep bumming off Gunshin for spare food, they were both Genin for crying out loud, Kana should at least be self sufficient.

Never mind the fact that she was only a Genin for the span of a few days at best and this was her first mission as a Genin. She just wanted to complain for the sake of complaining as the couple stopped at yet another street vendor and that stupid man decided now was the best time to try and haggle the price down or ask some stupid questions. Scared enough to hire a shinobi to escort them but not scared enough to at least have the decency to do their business quickly. Maybe they just had that much faith in Kana's abilities. What a fucking joke that would be. Kana was still pretty weak compared to Gunshin, that meek girl would probably fit right into this role far better than Kana could ever hope to be, she'd probably blend into the group and the couple would probably end up forgetting that she even existed.

Kana stuck out in a crowd, both due to her scar and the fact that she was prone to rash decisions, she'd probably be growling and screaming at some of the other idiots if they accidentally bumped into her. Another reason she chose to watch from afar on the rooves, she was alone, she could be forgotten and she had the advantage point on the off chance that the couple weren't freaking out over nothing. Still, if someone did try anything, Kana felt certain she could take them pretty easily, between the Tanto and the new jutsu she had managed to learn, any would be murderer would find themselves in an early grave. Then again that was only if someone actually did bother to try and hunt them down in a public area like this, if someone really wanted them dead, they could hire some shinobi for the killing or failing that, killing them at the dead of night in their own home would be far easier, break in fast, kill them and run like hell.

Although odds are that they'd still be caught by a shinobi but at least there wouldn't be as many witnesses as there was here, some of which were probably shinobi, Kana was pretty certain she saw an old classmate in the crowd earlier. People weren't always the smartest either, some idiot would probably decide to just take their odds and try go for the kill. Or they just didn't care about their own lives and wanted the couple dead even if they died or were jailed for their crimes. Kana only sighed and wished the couple could've bought two bodyguards, she'd have loved to done this mission with Gunshin, or at least with anyone else. It was fucking boring just watching as the couple slowly went about their business, uncaring for their safety like a bunch of idiots.

They were even stopping to eat! Who the fuck stops to eat then they're so worried about their lives they buy an actual fucking shinobi bodyguard?! She wanted to go down there and scream at them but that wouldn't exactly look good on her report so she just silently grumbled to herself and despised the fact that the food looked and smelt delicious. Fucking rich people. Kana would just remain perched on the roof, watching as the couple ate inside a building for a bit before letting her eyes wander and instead begin watching as the other shoppers went out about their business, none of them ever catching her eyes as any sort of threat but her eyes did spot a few interesting figures among the crowd. Some lady with her hair in buns wearing flashy colours on her outfit, some tall and muscular guy with a scar on his face, she thought she even saw Gunshin somewhere in the crowd but that meek girl disappeared before Kana could truly get a good look at her.

Either way, once the couple went back on the move, Kana followed along, quietly jumping and climbing from building to building, some times watching the couple, some times watching the crowd around them, all the while her mind was just running freely about random topics she could think of to pass the time. Some times it would be related to the mission, asking herself how she'd react if random shopper #214 was actually the one sending the death threats and pulled out some random weapon to try and attack the couple. Most of the answers boiled down to shooting fireballs at the guy before jumping in front of the couple with her Tanto to ensure they were okay. Few times she thought what if the attacker had his own jutsu or was too close to the couple and the answer was usually jump in front of the attack and let her medical jutsu fix her up. Before burning them with her own jutsu or stabbing them with her own weapon.

She truly doubted it would be any type of fight, if a rouge shinobi managed to break into the village then they had far bigger things to worry about than protecting some rich couple, she was sure everyone would understand if Kana bailed at the sight of a rouge shinobi. She was still brand new at this whole genin business and as much as she was willing to fight for the village, it wouldn't be much of a fight if she tried to stand in the way of any of those maniacs. She'd be better used informing the village and failing her mission than dying in a pointless fight.

Eventually her attention drifted toward an odd figure who was trying desperately to act calm and casual but his movements were stiff and he kept nervously looking around, as if he was ensuring there was nobody watching him. Idiots never bother to look up. Still, as much as she wanted to confront him, there was always a chance this was some anxious idiot, Gunshin some times acted like that early in the school year. That or he could also be some guy trying to get ready to steal for his very first time, some of the older street rats had been like that as well, too used to being given everything and finally realizing that stealing was the only way to ensure they could eat some times.

She watched down at him, her eyes focused as he moved closer and closer to the couple, still trying to act calm and casual yet failing even more the closer he got, it almost looked like he would give up without even trying anything and Kana hoped he would. She didn't want to deal with any idiots right now or let the couple feel validated for buying a shinobi bodyguard for a day of shopping. Yet she saw the way he kept reaching into his pocket, as if gripping something and the way he kept looking around while his body became more and more tense, his would be victims still blissfully unaware the man sending death threats was in fact stupid enough to try something in broad daylight. Kana only sighed to herself as she moved closer to the edge of the building.

"Don't." She spoke simply as she landed right in front of the guy, her hand firmly grabbing his own before he could think of pulling out whatever was inside his pocket and his wide, scared eyes looked down at her. And he hesitated. The man that looked so terrified of being caught, finally got caught and he had the audacity to not look so scared now that he seen her. That was a big fucking mistake. A kick to the side of his knee brought him down while she pulled his arm up and twisted it around as she moved right behind him, placing him in a rear wrist lock, his blade uselessly falling to the ground as he let out a small yelp.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" The man blabbered as didn't even try to fight back or resist, probably the smartest thing he could've done in this moment because Kana was more than ready to snap his wrist if he thought he could overpower her. "Shinjiro? You were the one behind the death threats?!" The businessman cried out his disbelief as he finally noticed what was happening, the man moving to a bit closer to the duo but thankfully having the peace of mind not to get too close. "You bastard! You cheated me out of the company! Did you really think I wouldn't try to get revenge?! YOU TOOK EVERYTH-Ack!" The would be murderer tried to cry out the great injustice that had been done to him but Kana only rolled her eyes and whacked the back of his head and silenced him. "Shut it. Cry about it in prison." She'd demand the man as she begun to force him to his feet, keeping a tight grip on his wrist. "This is the only guy after you, right? No other enemies? People you fucked over?" She'd question the couple, an eyebrow raised as she debated rather or not she could get away with taking him off to whoever handle criminals within the village, probably a prison or something would be around here.

"No. It was just him. Thank you." The man at least had the decency to act sheepish after the criminal had screamed about the unfairness of his situation. Frankly, Kana didn't care, most rich pricks were rich by fucking over those less lucky than themselves, it was how the world worked. "I'll handle this guy, finish your mission Kana." An oddly familiar voice said from behind, turning toward the source she was surprised to see her instructor from the academy, a shopping bag in hand told her that he must've been shopping and just happened to be in the area. "How many clones did I make for the exam?" She'd questioned with narrowed eyes, not quite trusting what she was seeing. "3. I'd give you bonus points for testing me before handing off a prisoner. Good work Kana." He'd answer with a stupid proud smile on his face while Kana's own face flushed. Of course she was gonna test him, how the fuck was she supposed to believe that idiot would be here?

"Thank you...." She'd grumble as she handed the man over to the chuunin, the man giving a simple nod before taking the criminal off to be dealt with. "Well? Are you done shopping yet?" She'd snap at the couple who dared to watch her, her face was red and she didn't want anyone to see her right now. The couple only laughed and Kana resisted the urge to attack. Think of the ryo. "Yeah, I think we're quite done... It was surprising to see Shinjiro again and I think I need a moment to process everything. Thank you for your hard work." The man answered with a ghost of a smile, clearly bothered by the events of today but Kana didn't particularly care, she only nodded and followed after the two as they made their way to their home.

Little Genin's First Day Empty Re: Little Genin's First Day

Fri Sep 08, 2023 10:47 pm
As they made their way to the edge of the distract and toward the couple's home, Kana noticed something odd. Black thick smoke was evident in the sky and it was oddly close. Something the couple noticed as well and the trio ran toward the source, Kana already knew what they'd find yet the couple held onto the small bit of hope that it wasn't their home burning. Yet as they rounded the corner, they saw it, the 2 story house was engulfed in flames and the older woman screamed. "My baby! Miss Kunoichi, please, my baby is in there!" She'd cry out in distress, immediately grabbing onto the stunned 13 year old and pointing toward the burning house. They left the baby at home?! They had a baby?! "Who else in there?!" She'd quickly demand, her mind racing a hundred miles a second as she tried to remember all she could about the house, she only seen a bit of the front since she didn't want to waste time looking around inside, but she swore she seen another person inside the house, someone she was surprised wasn't coming along but didn't really question it.

"Oh sweet Sage.... Izumi is in there! She's the babysitter! I... Fuck, I should've seen this coming! I didn't think they'd.... Fuck!" The man explained, frustrated and anger evident as he opened the gate for Kana, the kunoichi merely nodding her hand before rushing into the building, her hands already running through the seals. Horse, Ram, Monkey. She felt the flow of chakra envelop her and she jumped right into the flames that were consuming the house. "Izumi! Where are you?! I'm a kunoichi and I'm here to help!" She'd shout, trying to be heard through the roar of the fire, thankful that the heat didn't carry through in the jutsu but cursing the fact she didn't have anything to deal with the smoke.

Closing her eyes, she let her ears pick up on the noises she could hear, a little trick she picked up out of boredom mostly, but was far more than useful here as she could pick up faint crying of a baby somewhere upstairs. Racing up the stairs, she kept her eyes shut and let the noise guide her, listening as the wood buckled and cracked before eventually giving way but by then Kana had already allowed some of her chakra to flow to her feet and she ran on the walls of the building to reach the second floor, the baby was crying much more louder and she followed it's cries toward the back of the house, the flames were slowly starting to reach and she could now begin to hear more quiet sobbing and shushing noises. Opening the door, she opened her eyes to see a girl not much older than herself cradling the crying baby and trying desperately to calm them down, wide blue eyes marked with tears met Kana's calm silver.

"Come on, we're getting you two out of here. Hold the baby, I'll carry you out." Kana spoke, her mind running quickly, she knew her flame jutsu wouldn't protect the trio so instead she'd have to take them outside and thankfully enough there was an open window, probably what brought Izumi to this room in particular. She'd kneel down and pick up the crying older girl, her body shaking as she sobbed, either from relief or from the trauma of very nearly burning alive inside the building on what seemed to be a normal babysitting job.

Either way, Kana carried the two out of the window, sticking to the walls but having to walk backwards to keep a grip on proper grip on the two of them, the girl wasn't too heavy but Kana still was quite weak and didn't wanna risk dropping either of the two. "Thank you, thank you, thank you...." The girl sobbed into her shoulder as Kana carried them down, staining her dress but she couldn't bring herself to complain about it, instead she simply nod and focused on carrying them down. "Oh my baby! Thank you Kana! Thank you so much!" She could hear the mother crying as she brought them down, a few feet below them, probably realizing Kana was coming down with them and too eager to wait for her to bring them down.

As she reached the ground, she felt Izumi being taken from her grasp and watched as the father took the girl a few years older than Kana, taking her away from the fire as the mother took the baby from Izumi and cried as she held the baby close. It felt nice to help. Real nice. But she wasn't done yet, the house could spread it's fire and causing a domino effect if she just left it to burn, she needed to do something. "Did you call the fire brigade?" She'd question the father as he carried Izumi off, the man only giving a nod as he carried the crying girl off and away from the flames and smoke. Good, she wouldn't have to worry about that and the man was at least smart enough to know to get Izumi away from here, who knows how much smoke they inhaled and Kana didn't have any medical jutsu to help others just yet. For now, she needed to find a way to fight the fire.

She really wished Gunshin was here, the girl had turned out to have a chakra affinity toward water, it would've helped her out right about now. She only knew fire jutsu and she somehow doubted fighting fire with fire would work out here... Her mind ran through what she could do, trying to think of something that she could use to help, her sword was useless, those scrolls were also useless, the senbon were useless and unless she randomly discovered she also had access to the water element and could perfectly recreate a jutsu in that stupid encyclopedia, that was also useless....  The only advantage she had was that she could walk into the flames without it affecting her and thanks to her ability to "see" without seeing, she could walk through the smoke as well. Her only limit would be her need to breathe but as if she was going to be stupid enough to be in there long enough for that to become a problem.

With a plan in mind, Kana quickly went into the back yard, finding the hose and turning it on, thankfully it was working for now. She begun to scale the building once more, returning to the window she had just came out of and finding the flames were closer to the room and the smoke was now blinding inside. She didn't want to think about what would've happened if they didn't make it on time. Running through the hand seals once more, she coated herself in her chakra and allowed her eyes to close, once more letting her ears guide her through the flames as she sprayed the spreading fire from within, working to save what she can from the flames and stopping it from spreading. She just needed to hold on until the actual fire brigade showed up, they'd probably have better tools and methods, she was just a girl spraying with hose and hoping for the best. She had no clue how to fight fires, all she focused on was stopping the flames from inching closer, she would fight her way inch by inch if needed.

The hissing and roar of the fire was telling her where to aim the hose, the creaking and groaning form the building told her how likely it was to collapse, the shattering and crashing told her that supports were giving in from the fire and the subtle movement between her feet warned her that her own place within the building could collapse soon as well. Yet she continued to work tirelessly and effortlessly, spraying down the fire and slowly working her way to secure the second floor, she had thought to work down the stairs but they had been destroyed and if the fire up top reclaimed their spot, her hose would be at further risk of melting away. She was certain the parts of the hose that wasn't covered in her chakra was melting from the heat, but it was holding strong so far, probably thanks to her slow and steady method.

Yet she couldn't keep it up for long, she wanted to stay and fight but she was only one girl, a girl who needed to breathe like any living creature and her lungs were starting to scream for air, air that was currently polluted by the dangerous smoke would've been consuming her sight if she had needed to see where she was going. With a frustrated growl, Kana begun to make her way back where she came from, her movements calm and precise, she didn't dare risk panicking, it would only force her to breathe in the smoke and potentially break her focus on listening to the sounds and feeling the vibrations to "see" through the smoke.

All the while she kept spraying the water at everything, at least making it harder for things to catch on fire once more, maybe it would help, maybe it was pointless, she didn't know but nobody would be able to say she didn't try damn it! She eventually found the window and allowed her chakra to flow to her feet as she begun to walk down the window, letting the flame shroud disappear as she walked down, only when she felt the softness of the dirt, did she open her eyes to and take a nice deep breath, filling her lungs with fresh new air.

As she opened her eyes, she saw the rest of the fire brigade finally arriving, some bringing out hoses and spraying down the house but more than a few opted to launch low level water ninjutsu at the burning house to quench the intense flames that Kana had no hope of spraying down. An older fire fighter approached her, bringing an oxygen mask to her face. "You did good for a genin, the parents told us everything. We'll make sure you're properly rewarding for helping us." The man told her as he helped her get new air into her lungs, something she thought wasn't necessary but then again, she didn't know about any of this stuff so she just nodded subtly as to avoid messing with the oxygen mask as her only acknowledgement.

She didn't resist when her brought her away from the burning house and out to the front, where a small group had shown up to watch what was happening, the father was talking with a chuunin Kana didn't recognize, ranting about Shinjiro and how he had almost killed their daughter and an innocent babysitter, the mother kept the baby close even as a few medical personnel ran chakra infused hands around them, checking for any dangers and finally she spotted Izumi, the girl crying into the arms of who she presumed were her parents.

"Thank you so much for saving our daughter, if there's anything we can do please don't be afraid to ask. You've done so much for us." Izumi's mother cried out toward Kana, holding Izumi close with tears in her eyes and Kana simply nodded toward them in a bit of a stupor. She didn't even consider what she was doing, she simply acted and moved without any thought beyond what she should be doing. The fact that she saved two lives was only now hitting her and it ignited a warm feeling in her chest, a feeling she liked. Those families would be okay, they'd survive and they'd be happy. All because of her.
