Task: Someone has stolen various items from people around Konoha. The Hokage has tasked young ninja with catching and stopping the thief from stealing anymore, weather by words or physical means.

Whoever was behind the various thefts around Konoha struck her as someone very immature and likely a child. Azumi could not believe that she was in charge of capturing someone so petty. However, she would be lying if she said that she herself was not carelessly naive in her youth. In fact, thinking of such a time brought her back to the moments in her childhood.

Snake → Ram → Monkey → Boar → Horse → Tiger

Following the weaving of aforementioned handseals, the ominous sound of rumbling chakra could be discerned before it was completely **immolated** by the sound of a ferocious flame shooting from the mouth of Azumi Uchiha. The flames culminated swirled over the crystal blue waters that waded behind the training field. They soon began to take shape, the stream of flames coming from Raiku’s mouth contributing to the overwhelming global mass of blazing fire.

Azumi’s dark eyes seemed to be gleaming a few shades brighter as she observed in awe how her father performed the Uchiha’s coming of age signature technique. Always the inquisitive one, her eyes only took a break from her father’s motions when his technique had been completed. Yet she found herself gazing at how the light of the flames illuminated the bright crimson resonating from his Sharingan, the coveted dojutsu of their clan. With three tomoe in each, her father wielded a fully matured Sharingan, a feat nothing short of incredible. Azumi’s shoulders fell as the fingers of her left hand softly pressed against the pale skin under her eye. ‘I wonder when I will I—‘

“Your turn.” Raiku advised, his face stoic.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the stern yet encouraging voice of her father. He was waiting for her to replicate the technique that indicated a sense of maturity to their people. “Of course!” She piped eagerly, like many of her people she was born with a predisposition to aim for excellence. To constantly evolve—be better. In addition to this, she was the youngest child in her family and thus felt an immense amount of pressure to prove she wasn’t like her eldest brother who was seen as a disappointment in the eyes of her family. She would be better. She had to be.

Snake → Ram → Monkey → Boar → Horse → Tiger

Each handseal was weaved earnestly by the young girl with much to prove. With every seal that she formed, she felt the change in chakra within her more and more potently. By the time the tiger seal was weaved, Azumi could smell the smoke escaping from her mouth due to the immolating chakra kneading within her.

“Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!”

A young Azumi exclaimed passionately once she finally gathered the standard amount of chakra for a decent attack. She inhaled sharply before letting the potent fire natured chakra leave her mouth in a furious exhale. The chakra left her mouth as a stream of fire that eventually formed into a large globe of flames, albeit much smaller and tame than that of her father’s but impressive for her age nonetheless. The ball of flames blazed for a few moments before eventually dissipating like the one before it had only much quicker.

As the fire flickered away, Azumi turned to look her father in the eyes, a nervous smile tugging at her lips as she waited for his feedback regarding the technique. Azumi didn’t know if it was because of his active Sharingan that she rarely saw but she could not recall a time where her father had looked at her the way he did in that moment.

“Your handseal speed is much better and your flame...you burn inside—with the will of the Uchiha, don’t you?” The man commented sheepishly as a smirk threatened to shatter his otherwise emotionless disposition. “Unlike that brother of yours…” Any jubilance in his face was now washed away with the reminder of his son whom he saw to be such a disappointment. This only made Azumi work harder and train longer—her worst fear was being responsible for the expression that her father currently bore upon his face. She would work to make sure that he never thought of her that way.

“Do not be in a hurry to grow up Azumi,” the man suggested, breaking the silence that formed since her brother had been brought up. “I have no doubts that you will be an inheritor of our clan’s famed dojutsu. And when you do—your techniques will become even more refined. You are my daughter, after all,” the man encouraged, flashing a very rare smile towards his daughter.

Snake → Dragon → Rabbit → Tiger

After forming the seals, Raiku crouched into a sturdier stance as fire natured chakra left his mouth once again. The difference this time being that the fire did not immediately fire forward but instead swirled around the man, wrapping around the two of them, as Azumi’s eyes brightened again. She had seen the Great Fireball Technique countless times but the seals for this technique seemed to differ as well did the shape the fire made around her father. Raiku switched stances to face a nearby target as the chakra welled around him and his daughter.

“Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!” The man casted confidence. That explained it...a new jutsu?! As she heard it’s name, she assumed that it was due to the shape that the chakra had compared to that of the Great Fireball Technique but as the fire natured chakra moved from its revolving trajectory around the pair to shooting forward from Raiku’s mouth, the origin of its namesake was made clear. Unlike the parent technique, the fire shot forward as a downwards stream, pinpointed directly at the target painted on the large boulder which soon crumbled into molten chunks in the face of the Uchiha Fire.

The memory soon melted into the cold reality that was the present. The cheery and summery day was replaced by the dark ominous clouds that poured their rain onto the Uchiha compound and a former resident: Azumi Uchiha. The girl often found herself in this position, angrily mourning the genocide of her people with no one else to share the pain with. Sometimes, Azumi seemed to prefer this to anything else. The intense emotions that being in this place stirred up were effective at breaking her out of her constant state of numbness. Being haunted by her former home allowed her to feel *something*. It reminded her that she was alive. Whatever that meant.

Azumi’s face was calm despite the streaks of warm tears that ran down her face. The tears were not only from sadness but of indignant rage that plagued her whenever she thought about the fate of her clan for too long. The fist that she had balled since her arrival was now dripping blood onto the damp grass under her sandals. Everywhere she turned she was reminded of the life that she once had and how alone she truly was. Despite the pain that these visits caused her, they remained a constant part of her routine. It would be easier to move on and try to repress this from her mind. But she didn’t want easy. And she needed to always remember.

“I have no doubts that you will be an inheritor of our clan’s famed dojutsu. And when you do—your techniques will become even more refined. You are my daughter, after all ...”

Her father’s words echoed in her mind, bringing her eyes shut as the memory of his voice threatened to increase the otherwise steady flow of tears that ran down her face. When she opened her eyes again she demonstrated her father’s prophecy as a pair of Sharingan lubricated with salt-filled tears. The crimson of her dojutsu was the only form of light through the heavy gloom of that stormy morning. As the memory played on a loop, refusing to show Azumi’s psyche mercy, it occurred to her that she had never attempted the jutsu her father demonstrated that day since awakening her Sharingan.

Truly Alone - Catching a Thief [P] Empty Re: Truly Alone - Catching a Thief [P]

Snake → Dragon → Rabbit → Tiger

As she formed each seal, she kept the image of her father performing the jutsu. She shifted her stance accordingly when she remembered how he changed his. The internal feeling of the fire natured attack felt the same as the Great Fireball Technique. Both invoked a feeling of swirling flames at her very core. Where this technique differed was again the form it took as she prepared the attack. It enveloped her body in a brilliant swirling flame as the fire natured chakra built up within her.

“Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!”

The girl mimicked her father’s instructions right down to the conviction of his voice. The fire soon left her body and shot forward as a sharp orange streamline of flame that directed itself towards another target that laid beside what seemed to be a previously destroyed one. Midway to the target, the stream of fire seemed to widen in range, suddenly beginning to resemble that of the Great Fireball Technique, bringing a scowl upon Azumi’s face. She didn’t know what she expected for her first time casting the jutsu but she wouldn’t make the same mistake. Her eyes were always analyzing...watching. The girl was able to see where exactly she had gone wrong in the attack and knew that she would never make the same mistake again.

The flames reflected light against her Sharingan, the pain of being in this place reflected through the vibrant red irises. Unlike the fire of her technique from childhood, the fire she created didn’t seem to die out. Despite the heavy rain falling onto the training field upon which the fire burned, Azumi’s fire natured chakra continued to blaze.

’I hope you can still feel it father. The burn of the Uchiha flame. My flame burns our people...my flame burns for you…’

Truly Alone - Catching a Thief [P] Empty Re: Truly Alone - Catching a Thief [P]

Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:44 pm
Azumi was currently using her Sharingan to trail the alleged thief. The girl had been keeping her distance for a while in order to keep an eye on the assailant. As she leapt through the Uchiha compound, her eyebrow raised as the thief made their way through the compound. Azumi could not bring herself to believe that a member of her clan had been behind this. Granted, this could have been due to her own implicit bias but it was rare for one of her own to engage in such activity. Leaping through the compound she made sure to maintain her distance several meters behind the thief in order to not tip them off to her surroundings. Azumi figured that the thief may have been taking refuge in the Uchiha compound because it was one of the more underpopulated areas within the village. It was likely optimal for hiding in plain sight, or even better, storing and hiring the spoils of their thieverous exploits. This theory seemed to be proven correct as the person she was tracking seemed to stop at one point of their travels and remained stationery from that point forward. Narrowing her eyes, she too would stop above a building 20 meters away from where the target had stopped.

Slowly, Azumi would get closer, seeing the chakra signature of the target fade. Attempting to avoid this scenario, she continued to close the distance between them before finally standing a few feet behind him. “So we can do this the easy way….or….the hard way…” Azumi said with a bored expression as she finally laid her eyes upon the thief. The girl did not know what she expected but it was certainly someone a bit more imposing than the person she currently saw. The thief would turn out to be a middle aged man, decrepit and dirty. Azumi could only imagine the series of disappointment and failures that brought him to this point. He seemed to be utterly shocked by her sudden appearance and instantly ran in the other direction. Azumi sighed at this, bringing her fingers to pinch the bridge between her raven brows. “Hard way huh?” the girl deduced, before advancing forward at her maximum speed. The thief must not have been a shinobi because he was much slower than she was. So much so that she would appear to almost appear suddenly in front of him in the direction that he ran from her.
