Mizuki’s eyes lit up with the prospect of learning how to use this new power in more viable ways, the fire of learning burning through her red hot like the chakra nature - she was a black hole for knowledge with an insatiable desire to know everything and master it. Maybe it was - hilariously enough - due to the new chakra nature she had a full taste of but she was burning with energy and was dying to channel it out. Great Fireball? She found herself humming along with Amat’s thoughts, which now that she thought back to their conversations previously, she noticed she spoke aloud often, undirected to anyone in particular. She raised an eyebrow as she took that habit and mentally notated it, she would have to add that to her book later upon reflection.

Though a giant fireball sounded spectacular she was quietly thankful that she would learn something more subdued as her first jutsu. Flickering Lantern sounded like the jutsu she had seen Amat perform that had drawn her to the gates in the first place, though it seemed like weeks and weeks ago it had been mere days - How time becomes warped in our minds… she narrowed her eyes at her own thought for a second and compartmentalized that thought for further inquiry, there was something in that. Refocusing on the conversation that was now turning back to her directly she pictured and memorized the hand seals before being shown outright how to perform them- similar to what she had just done but it was more concentrated - instead of being red and out of control like hers had been it was a beautiful blue and was hovering gently over her palm before extinguishing like a child had blown out a candle, the wisp of smoke being carried away. Control.

If Amat was paying close attention to Mizuki’s eyes she may have noticed something had changed in them, instead of the soft violet tint they normally possessed there was now a small red glow penetrating the inner circle. The new chakra nature taught by Amat had begun to embed itself in her and change her - she directed her eyes down to her own hands and smiled softly. Flying through her own hand seals she turned over her hand to reveal a small red flame, similar to Amats but smaller and hovering higher than hers had, being unable to maintain it it went out, leaving her hand feeling cold without it. Scowling at her palm for a moment she tisked aloud, “How do you keep yourself so focused on it without over focusing and snuffing it out.” She was growing hot with irritation at herself, finding the balance of focus without over focus wasn’t easy when every time she channeled the chakra it was like she was fighting with her other half trying to suffocate the flame in water. Maybe fire wasn’t the best first element to learn but her she was and giving in was never an option. She shook her hand, cracked her fingers and performed the hand seals once more- holding out her palm to reveal a replica of Amat’s flame in red. She held the flame in her palms for around 5 seconds, holding her breath the whole time before releasing it and taking a short intake of cool air. Turning on and off her fire chakra was exhausting for her emotionally as each time would bring a rush of energy with a quick jump into a cold lake. Turning to look at Amat she would give her a smile, “How am I doing Sensei?”

Amaterasu observed with pointed interest as Mizuki progressed. Her fire was different, she noted. Red, wild, and hungry. Hers, of course, might've qualified for the latter two categories, but... there was an element of calculated, cold efficiency that resulted in a higher level of control. Unfortunately, that control was rather natural. She had no words or advice on how to reign in the flames she produced, rather than keep practicing and watch as you went. "Nothing you wouldn't already know. Time and practice," she answered to her first query after a moment. "I'd imagine it wouldn't be too unlike your affinity with water. You weren't born with the level of skill you have now." She titled her head as she formed the flames for the second time, nodding to herself. "I'd say you're doing well enough with that that you can practice on your own. Next jutsu only has one hand seal, and we'll be focusing our fires inward this time now that you know how to summon fire chakra. Form the tiger seal, and try to warm yourself. It's not the most glamorous, but..." a shrug. "It forms the basis for a lot of other fire techniques. Also useful at night time in these dunes, I'd wager."

She rocked back and forward on her feet. "The key to this jutsu lies in your breath. I'd recommend focusing on that first before progressing further. Once youre done with this, I suppose we can elevate to harder stuff, unless you want to learn one other thing. It makes no difference to me- I'm free most of the day, after all." she shrugged. Depending on what the woman in front of her did, she would make her reply. "The next technique is called Fire Stream. It's a stepping stone for Great Fireball. Show me you've learned Inner Flame, and I'll tell you more about it."
