Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training

Senshi and his brother had made it home rather quickly, and stored their training materials just inside the door. His brother would be ensuring the rocks and rubber balls that Senshi had collected and then subsequently destroyed were properly disposed of tomorrow morning. Their dinner as family was rather quick, and Senshi had spent the majority of it blushing largely at the praise his elder brother had heaped on him. He hadn’t said much but his brother had continued to tell his father, mother, and two older siblings how his training had gone for the day. He had felt pride swell in his chest at the look his father had given him. Even his mother had bestowed a smile onto him from his brothers words. Maybe training with one of his family members regularly was a good idea. Pushing the thoughts away Senshi had assisted his sister in cleaning up after the dinner before showering and then retiring to his room.
 
As he applied the Fuuinjutsu Lock technique onto his door he discarded his dirty clothes into his hamper, wearing only a pair of comfortable, loose fitting black pants and no shirt. He sat down in his desk pulling forwards one of his numerous books. He made a note to make a second book case as his first one was slowly becoming filled with all the books on Fuuinjutsu, Space Time, Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and weapons techniques he had been practicing and using to help prepare himself. There were also numerous books from his academy years and several tactics and strategy books. He had no leisure books on the book shelf as he knew his parents would frown upon the frivolous spending. Instead he would check those out from the library when he had some time to himself to relax and then return them promptly so that his family didn’t notice.
 
The space time technique, Storage was exceptionally useful in hiding his leisure books from his family as they could not access the alternate dimension he was creating. Senshi was currently studying up first on how precisely Lightning chakra worked. He was intent in learning the skill tomorrow morning so that when his foes used a lightning based chakra he would be able to lessen the damage they did to him. He knew he was quite proficient in manipulating his initial element. He had done extensive training in the element to increase his skill with it and form his techniques rapidly. With this skill he felt that he would be able to form a technique that would allow him to divert some of the raiton chakra from an enemy technique, funnel it through his body and then release it back out to avoid at least a portion of the damage the technique could cause.
 
Or so he was hoping to do. He continued to study up on just how electrical impulses affected the body so that he could develop a plan for how he wanted to train this new skill. Around eight O’clock he went to bed after setting his alarm. He was up at four thirty AM rushing to get ready and head to the training grounds. By five am he was standing in the training grounds he had occupied yesterday, pleased to see the wooden barricade he and his brother still standing. With a smile the young Genin went about setting his pack of breakfast and lunch on the ground along with his sword. He then began a series of basic warm up stretches such as touching his toes, rolling out his joints, and stretching his quads. Once he felt he had done a basic warm up of his muscles and ligaments he set out to truly warm up his muscles for the training he intended to be conducting.
 
He went through a rigorous series of push ups, sit ups, lunges, squats, V ups, planks, pull ups, Frog jumpers, and sprints before starting a run around the training grounds. It might feel like he was partially wasting his time but he knew that he needed to properly prepared for his training or he could hurt himself. His Uncle, and all the fitness books he had read only proved this to the dark haired Genin. He wouldn’t allow himself to be taken out of Active shinobi duties so easily. Once he had finished fify laps around the training ground he moved to over to his gear picking up his sword. He had an idea for how to train his body to resist lightning chakra and it would take his sword in order to accomplish it. He would be charging lighting chakra into the sword and then reversing the natural polarity of it. Once he did so it would then become dangerous to himself and he would allow the reversed lightning chakra to flow back into his body.
 

From there he would need to figure out how to surround it with his own natural lightning chakra and bits of his normal chakra. He would then reverse the polarity of the chakra inside his own body and thus be able to channel the chakra that had entered his body to harm him. From there he would guide what he could of the lightning Chakra to another part of his body and expel it. It would be difficult and he would need time and training in order to recognize what polarity other shinobi’s lightning chakra was so it wouldn’t be a massive damage reduction skill, but in the end it would help immensely. Senshi knew that anything he could do to reduce the amount of damage he received from any shinobi would thusly increase his life span. Being able to nullify at least some damage from a single type of elemental chakra would allow him a step up over other shinobi. He’d have to be careful not to become too reliant on the technique and it would take considerable training to be able to do it instinctively, but if he was anything it was dedicated to protecting himself and living.

Senshi felt the blade fill with lightning chakra before he began to focus on it. It took several minutes of him feeling out the chakra and twisting it looking for its opposite before he discovered that he was naturally aligned to a negative polarization. With this knowledge he was able to begin the next part of his training. He focused on a small bit of the chakra in the sword, but found that he was finding this incredible difficult because of the sheer amount of chakra he had pumped into it. With a sigh he withdrew his chakra back into his body and set the sword down. It looked like he was have to start really small before attempting it with such a larger amount. With this new thought in mind Senshi pulled a small amount of chakra into his hands and focused on it.
 
Though he now knew intellectually that his chakra was on the negative polarity he had to feel through the lightning chakra he had created in order to get a feel for that polarity. It felt natural and yet odd to be sensing that side of his chakra. Once he felt he had a good grasp on the feeling of his own polarity he released the lightning chakra back into his body. With a short glance above him Senshi was unsurprised to see that it was already pass seven in the morning. This was certainly not what he would ever consider something easy to do. He began to bring his lightning chakra into his hands again focusing on the feeling of his polarity once he had collected a much larger amount. Now that he was beginning to get used to this part and with enough chakra in his hands to cause the small hairs to stand up he focused on doing it quickly.
 
It took well over a half an hour but finally in just under five seconds Senshi could feel the polarity of his chakra easily. Now it was time for the next step. He held the chakra in his hands he began to twist it. It was difficult but Senshi was certain he could get it down. He was beginning to feel a small amount of pain in his hands as he slowly began to convert small amounts of the chakra. With a light wince he released the chakra he had built up ignoring the feeling of all the hair on his hands and arms standing up. He pulled a kunai from his left weapons pouch and held it before him forcing the lighting chakra into it. He then twisted it feeling his negative polarity before beginning to exert his will onto the technique. It took more than forty five minutes for the hazel eyed Genin to finally figure out how to change more than just a small bit of the chakra. As he continued working he finally managed to reverse the polarity of all the chakra in the kunai to positive.
 
He then began a slow and laborious process to switch the polarity back to his usual negative feeling. It didn’t take nearly as long as reversing it to the unknown positive polarity but it was still a task he was unused to. Once he had managed to completely change all the chakra back to negative he took a deep breath feeding the chakra slowly back into his body. He took a breath looking to the sky to note that it was already nearly half pass nine in the morning. This skill was requiring a lot more training and work then he had originally thought possible. It was a good thing he had been so successful the day before or else he would feel as though he was wasting time. No matter how useful a skill or jutsu was he wanted to maximize his training time to become as good as possible. Letting loose a breath of air he had been holding in his lungs he focused back in on the kunai.
 
Senshi was focusing on increasing his speed with changing the polarity. He needed it to take under thirty seconds to reverse the polarity of his own chakra. If he couldn’t change the polarity of his chakra back and forth as easily then he would not be able to change to polarity of someone elses chakra fast enough to reduce the damage it would do to his body. That was merely common sense, he was used to his own chakra so changing it was significantly easier than if he was working on someone elses chakra. At least the foreign feeling of their chakra entering his body would be easily recognizable. Senshi continued to practice changing his chakra back in forth in the Kunai until he had finally managed to meet the minimum time he wanted to be at.
 
It was hard to believe that the skill was this difficult, and yet he was making good progress with it. The Sun was quickly approaching it’s zenith in the sky and Senshi could only wish that it would put out more heat. The chill of a Kumogakure winter was setting in and soon snow would begin to fall. The only thing that was truly helping keep the cold at bay was the long, flowing, black cloak he wore. Senshi replaced his kunai into his left weapons pouch, neatly so he could draw it quickly if need be. Once that was complete he moved over to his sword picking it up and forcing his chakra into the blade. He quickly converted it into his own natural lightning chakra and then with some trouble changed the polarity to positive. He allowed the chakra to flow through the blade focusing on the feeling of it before converting it back.
 
He spent several minutes repeating this process in order to ensure that he could handle the amount of chakra his bastard sword could hold. While it was significantly difficult compared to his hands or Kunai it wasn’t too far of stretch for the skills he had already been building. Once he felt safe in his knowledge of converting his lightning chakra back and forth he allowed it to flow back into his body in its natural negative polarity state.  Now that he felt comfortable with both the speed he could convert the chakra and the amount he was converting it was time to move onto the final part of training the skill. Allowing the reversed polarity chakra to flow into his body and then cushioning it with his own and converting it back as fast as possible in order to take as little damage as he could.
 
With this in mind he charged the chakra into the blade reversing its polarity and then with a deep breath, and pray to whatever gods were out there Senshi allowed the positive polarity lightning chakra to flow into his system. He fought back a large yelp as suddenly his arms felt like they were burning an seizing. Before the chakra could move too far up his forearms he began to surround it with first his natural chakra. Layering it around the positive polarities lightning chakra and then he converted the first two layers, of the five he had created into his own natural lightning chakra. He could feel the pain, the burning sensation, and his muscles twitching sensations lessening. Once he had converted his own chakra he began to force it into the positive lightning chakra forcing it to slowly change. Finally as it reached his shoulder he expelled what he could of the chakra watching a small lighning bolt jumped out of his skin before dissipating in the air.
 

His arm muscles burned and twitched from attempting the skill, but he had managed a basic version of it. Now it was time to practice it relentlessly until lunch, and when his brother arrived. He needed to get these basics down before he tried it with anyone else. With a single minded focus the young Genin began the repetitive motions of turning his chakra in the blade and then allowed it to flood his body. By the time lunch rolled around he had light red marks on his forearms from where the lightning chakra had burned them. He was also sweating profusely from the constant use of chakra, but it was clearly showing that he was progressing. The Skill had been difficult no doubt but now that he was easily changing his own chakra and guarding against it he knew it would come into better use against other lightning users.

As Senshi sat down next to his gear bag, he laid his sword on the ground carefully. He was quite proud of his progress so far and only on day two of his training. He only had one last technique he needed to complete before the next three days of his week of training would be dedicated to continuing his practice in all the techniques he knew and steadily improving his body. He needed to be strong, faster, and increase his chakra reserves. It was the only way he was going to make a worthwhile shinobi for his village, With all this in mind Senshi slowly ate his sushi and rice that his mother had made the night before. He wondered what Akihana-Sama would say at his lack of sugar and sweets. She did tell him that it was okay and even good for a shinobi to have them.
 
Maybe he would stop by one of the local Dango shops to give himself a treat for accomplishing so much the past two days. His brother would probably also appreciate it if he paid for him as well, considering the amount of help he had been giving his younger brother. Plus the fact that he was taking time out of his own work day to come and assist him in training, Senshi felt he should repay the favor in some way.  Especially since he was sure he would need more help later on with his training. With that plan firmly set Senshi focused on finishing his food and relaxing. He had taken his lunch break earlier than planned and thus once he was finished and felt well rested he jumped up grabbing his sword. He began to go through his usual kata.
 
He barely made it through half his swings before his brother showed up, only touting two bags today. One of fifty Kunai and one of fifty Shuriken in order to throw them at his brother. Senshi smiled in welcome and continued to work on his sword swings while his brother set up and prepared everything so that they could begin. Once he motioned at Senshi the young Genin moved to his position at the barricade and took a ready stance with Batsuodosodo. The large blade hardly wavering in the air as he held it with one hand to wave back at his brother to indicate that he was ready to begin. His brother immediately began throwing the kunai and shuriken at him and Senshi felt a fierce smile on his face. Finally he was working on this Art of the Parry with his sword. This would undoubetedly bring him to entirely new levels with the technique.
 
As he swung the sword he pleased to see that he was batting the weapons away with increased ease. The large blade was after all meant to also protect him and partially sever as a shield. He would be increasing its abilities eventually when he finally had more money and when he was better at Fuuinjutsu. With his father’s knowledge of blacksmithing and his soon to be knowledge in fuuinjutsu the blade would become something to truly fear. As his brother continued to throw the weapons at him Senshi decided to focus on not just simply blocking the flying stars and knives of death but to ensure he was striking at them to send them flying away from him. It was undoubtedly causing small bits of damage to his sword that he would need to repair before applying for his next Preliminary Chuunin Exam, but then all of his weapons would need a fine touch up.
 
Pushing those thoughts off the boy parried the final weapon thrown at him before giving his brother a light smile. He holsted the sword on his back and began to collect the weapons that were strewn everywhere as his brother brought the bag up to him. Soon the two boys had managed to collect all of the weapons, some of them having been sent flying into trees in the nearby woods. They had certainly not made their barricade round enough to catch all of the weapons that Senshi parried. But it was a price they had to pay in order to be able to swing Bastuodosodo around. Learning the technique with the use of his sword was especially important to the boy and he would gladly spend extra time searching for the training weapons in order to ensure he learned the technique properly. Once they had completed collecting everything both boys took their positions again, intending to continue their training.
 
Senshi didn’t know it but his brother was glad to be able to practice these skills so that he could better protect himself if he ever needed it. As the weapons came flying at the genin again, he focused on actually parrying the weapons rather than focusing on simply blocking them fully. As he sent them flying he tried to anticipate exactly where the blades were and use the maximum reach of his sword. The earlier he knocked them off the course the safer he would be in the long run. As his brother reached the halfway point with the thrown weapons Senshi could feel his muscles beginning to burn. While he often practiced his kata and sword strikes he was still building up the stamina to swing his sword around at max speed and strength as he was doing now. Not to mention the added focus he was having to throw in and it was an exceptionally tiring technique.
 

One that he would have to ensure he used sparingly while in combat as he didn’t want to risk tiring himself out too quickly. Finally his brother reached the last of the weapons that he was throwing and Senshi knocked them off course resorting to blocking the final two with the flat of his blade. He winced at the idea of repairing the blade from the training he was conducting but knew it would be well worth it. As the final weapon went flying Senshi twisted the blade around holstering as the sweat dripped off his face. Even his brother looked rather tired from having thrown so many weapons so quickly at him. Nodding to his brother he went over and collected the two bags intent on packing away the weapons so they could continue training. It was barely three in the afternoon and Senshi figured he could get through at least one more round before they needed to clean up and head home for dinner. He felt that he had this technique on lock down right now. Especially if he spent the rest of the week dedicating some time to working with it.
