Quinn Foster - The Forgemaster

Today was the day to do what some were able to opt to do, a showcase of those who wished to the village. Quinn being one of the older individuals decided to opt into such an activity for two reasons, it was a good sign of faith and assurance to those who opted to take Quinn's application and assertation to become one seriously. Secondly, for Quinn, the ability to showcase talent and use it as a marketing tool was never beneath them. A sly grin would be stretched across their face the whole time as a plethora of students had brought instruments and other tools to be able to showcase their talents. Quinn simply carried an anvil. Many were confused by the Forgemaster's declaration of bringing an anvil and hammer as part of their recital but the staff at the Academy figured there was a reason for it. They learned quickly that there was no stopping the blacksmiths' drive.

Standing within a small amphitheater beside the academy, Quinn waited in line in the wings where all present could see the students awaiting their turn. Many parents were allowed to view the process for those who wished and took this opportunity to showcase instead of the standard method. For those looking at the instructor's spots, to review the recitals, only 2 out of three seats were filled. The third was another that was not one of the standard teachers at the academy though none of them would spill who. Quinn knowing two of the few higher-ups with the Deputy Kage and an unknown role to Quinn, Satoshi and Guren respectively, was curious if it was one of the two. The Forgemaster was first in line as the oldest in the bunch who opted for this and request to go first to be able to handle any post-ceremony business. No further questions were asked of the blacksmith at that time and they simply let Quinn do as they pleased as a model student for their records, nothing they did seemed to deter the antics of the Forgemaster.

With anticipation rising within the small crowd that had gathered, this was one of the first showcases of the academy in a full proper graduation situation. Many speculated that those who opted to go through this proceeding would rise up through the village's stations and want to see their child compared to others. Eyes fell onto Quinn as the first in line while they waited. Being the eldest there, there were a few that were definitely above the curve but many were only a few to some years older than the average. Quinn on the other hand stood with about a decade on most present in line, the nearest being 22. Unphased by the ongoings, Quinn's eyes were simply locked forward, focused, and confident about the proceedings presently. They were in no rush as they stood there, anvil in hand, hammer in holster, and a small surprise pocketed by the soon-to-be graduate of the academy.

The well-built student stepped forward to center stage holding the anvil with one hand giving a light wave to the crowd that had gathered before setting it down in the middle of the stage. A standard-looking blacksmith approached, leather apron with the Fosters' Forge logo present, a white button-up underneath with rolled-up sleeves, and black slacks were what Quinn wore on such a day. Their hair slicked back to expose their facial features, vibrant red eyes matched their red hair as they set down the anvil before gazing outward towards the audience. Adjusting it to have the standard appearance of an anvil towards the crowd, Quinn stood behind it giving a deep bow to the panel to review their techniques alongside their performance. Rising up the confidence that Quinn had was palpable on the stage. Letting the crowd take in the condition of the anvil, it was well used, worn, and scorched on some of its facades. The thing that most people failed to realize was that some performances were simple oratories and Quinn aimed to use this opportunity to showcase more than just talents if they could manage to the crowd. "Quinn Foster. Forgemaster. Business Owner. Age 29." They announced kneeling at the anvil pulling out their hammer and hitting the anvil letting out a ring into the amphitheater. The hammer in hand once they hit the face of the anvil to create the note would be raised for all to see. It was an equally well-worn hammer, its grip in Quinn's hand a perfect fit, the head darkened by the fires and flames it work on in its years.

"Born." Strike. "Raised." Strike. "Learning still." Strike. "Growing still." Another strike on the anvil, this time on the horn making a higher-pitched sound in an attempt to keep the audience focused on such an odd occurrence of a performance. Though the panel in the front viewing the students for their technique would slowly see the build-up of chakra on the hammer itself as Quinn began to infuse the tool making it a weapon of sorts. To Quinn, they looked at the anvil with love and care as this was the oldest anvil at the forge, the anvil that they learned to temper their first blade on. Quinn would pause with that momentarily letting that note sink in as a message to the crowd as the village was new and there would be growth but not just the youth needed to step up, but everyone did. Quinn is a representative of the older generation as many leaders of the village took on secondary roles when the shinobi village stepped into place here. Quinn was acutely aware of the age of the two men who made deals with the forge and seeing the Otokage officially for the first time, they recognized him. An estrange encounter in the residential districts of the village that the Forgemaster had stumbled upon briefly but had to depart. Their eyes locked onto Kaito's as they continued from their pause. A large force of chakra became visible as they used one hand to perform a few handseals, Tiger - Boar - Rat, though some of the students would be baffled at the fact that Quinn was able to produce one-handed signs. Rising from the kneeling position they had to be in to strike at the anvil, Quinn stood and swung the hammer towards the anvil the hammer coated in chakra let out a loud resounding note as a small dent was formed from the force of the impact. The refinement and execution of the note was an iconic sound for those who traveled near Fosters' Forge, euphonic.

That was when things came forth as an odd option was given and Quinn smirked a little at the panel knowing there might be a chance for some stern talking to as a very worn, not great dagger was pulled out from Quinn's pocket as part of their performance. Tossing the dagger in their hand briefly, they launched it skyward above them before taking another deep bow, the dagger reaching its apex before beginning its descent. Unphased through the light practice they did prior to this, they simply rose up with the Flying Swallow technique upon the hammer still and executed the second technique they were presenting, Deflect, with an upward swing of the hammer on eye level with Quinn, and the panel, their hammer would connect with the dagger and result in its demise. Upon contact, the dagger splintered and shattered harmlessly above the anvil leaving the shrapnel non-impactful to anyone. "Step forward. Temper yourselves. Chisel the details out. Forge your future. The village will do the same." They would then bow once more hoping to leave an inspiring note as part of what they desired to showcase that even though this was obviously not their first profession and they too took pride and desire to grow with the village as an older member. They spoke once more before gathering the shrapnel and remnants of the dagger sliding the pieces into their pocket grabbing the anvil and exiting stage right allowing for the other performers to do their recital.

"Quinn Foster. Forgemaster. Business Owner. Age 29. Genin of Otogakure."

Quinn would return to their original position at the back of the stage to away the completion of all the other recitals. Many showcased their affinity to possibly unlocking Sound Release, a village secret, and hidden, art from what murmurs had begun to discuss within the academy. Some showed off their instrumental techniques and others a mix of other standard techniques though Quinn's was definitely the oddest of the bunch. There even was a beginning practitioner of puppetry that showcased a simple puppet they put together along with its early-stage mechanisms. Quinn was happy with their performance and once the announcement came through, they would graciously accept whatever fate was bestowed upon them. This was the first step into a new adventure.
