Backstory: Using sound base ninjutsu is uncommon but has been around for years. No matter the method or style, if the power of sound catches one, it can be the end of a fight before it starts. A genius, aware of the effects of sound-based genjutsu, sought a means to stifle those threats before they could even be done. But that effect was only the beginning, as it can be used in various ways...

Appearance: No vision, but used by creating one method of sound-- and a mild surge of wind upon casting-- but nothing else. That's the point.

What it does: A very particular jutsu-- easy in concept, challenging to master. This jutsu utilizes wind release in a very subtle method not to create massive gusts of wind. However, it spreads chakra into the very air itself. The moment the user claps their hands or uses another instrument or method that makes a sound-- it casts a wave of chakra into the air, nearly undetectable outside of chakra vision. The result causes the user's chakra to saturate the air-- specifically the molecules in it. Sound is created by clashing air molecules, creating and carrying sound. Using chakra, one can stifle those molecules—a practical application of actual 'scientific ninjutsu' using one's power. The result creates a space surrounding the caster where sound does not travel. As history states, it can stifle any sound-based genjutsu to protect oneself. But that is not all it does.

The caster can freely stifle any sound, allowing for sneak attacks, ambushes, and other methods where sound would otherwise play a factor on the battlefield. One wouldn't be able to hear an incoming attack. It also can confuse enemy squads by removing the ability to communicate between them. A silent killer can even apply a critical strike without being hidden from view—a perfect assassination tool.

However, this effect has a variety of abilities depending on the specialties one has. If Mastered, this jutsu can apply its effects.

Generic:  If Mastered, the caster can freely control what sounds move and which do not, allowing them to control their communications, sounds free, and that of allies to be heard alone. It also allows certain sounds they make to take notice-- to leave false positions for enemies. If Mastered, it also increases range by 10 meters and duration by 1.

Genjutsu: If the user possesses a Genjutsu specialty along with this jutsu, they can freely control the air molecules to create sounds from positions that are not even there. This tricks the enemy into luring them strategically to ambush or confuse them. If aware enough, one can make false sounds or voices from their targets, tricking them. Essentially, they can create sounds that are not there, creating auditory hallucinations. A jutsu that wreaks havoc on the lines of communication. This also causes the same Genjutsu AP drain based on the upkeep cost for its duration.

Sensory: Beyond removing one's sense of sound, the caster can freely filter the sound of enemies, too-- allowing the caster to hear their sounds while isolating their own. It will remove any risk of being affected by their sounds, giving away their location without the risk of hindering their own. It also allows a complete sense of location awareness, like sonar, for the caster to sense objects, traps, and other details within range.
