Unofficial Business... that's what this was. Nothing more, nothing less. Since they got there, the ninja of the village of tea had suppressed the native gangs. Killing off one of their leaders seemed solid enough motivation to disappear underground, but not quite enough to disband completely. Their mistake. Salzem waited around near Coco's personal Casino, pacing back and forth anxiously. He had sent word to a few people and hoped they would join him on this service they were doing for their home. He imagined the end to this threat would be bloody... violent.... Cornered animals such as they would hardly let themselves be handed over to justice. Salzem loved that about them. Their flailing for dear life was what made them good challenges... Salzem chuckled, then stopped abruptly, an image passing though his mind. Back in Konoha... His chuunin exams.... When that girl threw herself on the edge of his katana and blood splattered him for the first time.... He couldn't believe it.... he didn't want to believe it was real... He remembered how he cried and mourned for her the night after his chuunin celebration. He remembered the sorrow he felt as the life faded from her eyes and her juices painted his pale skin. Salzem flinched as if he were struck, almost in an attempt to escape the image. Pain... aching pain filled his heart.... Not sorrow or anger or frustration or even remorse.... Shame... Shame.... Shame was what he felt. His tainted heart was filled to the brim with selfish, scolding shame. His blood boils against the sorrow he felt for that girl. SHE WAS AN ENEMY! it told him. He knew she was. "Her brother died.... You were part of his death.... Do you feel nothing...?" His humanity would ask him. They both had a point. The sanguine-eyed ninja nearly clasped his hands to his ears in an attempt to shut out both voices, but he knew that wouldn't do any good. They were inside... They got louder... Nearly screaming in his head as the image played over and over behind his eyes.... Louder... replay.... louder.... "Remember that girl..." SHE WAS YOUR ENEMY!

"SHUT UP!" Salzem hissed to himself, nearly roaring the command at his invisible torturers. Neither did though. They only repeated their words over and over: "Remember" FORGET "Remember" FORGET His humanity battled with the wolf inside, his head, the battle ground. Sorrow and Shame tore apart his heart. His face contorted to an expression that can only be described as anguish as these floods of conflicting feelings bombarded his person. One side was foreign... one side didn't belong... He lost sight of which it was... He was blind... Sick.... in horrible pain... His humanity, his old sense of morals and justice did battle with his tainted blood, driven on instinct and impulse, reacting on the slightest provocation... blood being spilled in the name of his Ascension... His own blood...

"But fire man," Dachi said, no seemingly no one, as he walked along. "How can I help a village I've never heard of? How can an entire village hide in a leaf? Or, was it made out of leaves? It doesn't make sense, fire man. Even if I did know what you were talking about, I'm just a Genin, I can't "help" an entire village."

Dachi stumbled around the streets of his new found home as he went, talking to himself as he went. Recently, after finding out that Dachi had achieved the rank of Genin - the first rank officially recognized as being a shinobi -, fire man had become insistent that he train harder, and save the village that fire man had been from. However, each time that Dachi asked Kasai what he meant by "save", Kasai would simply say that it needed to be saved from itself, which didn't make any sense to Dachi at all. However, fire man had helped him this far, and so something about this distant village must be wrong.

Then, however, Dachi saw a familiar and friendly face.

"Salzem!" He said, waving happily and running towards his new mentor. He was unaware that anything was wrong, and whether or not Salzem had heard Dachi's ramble to himself. However, he did faintly remember something about Salzem helping to clear out the rest of the criminals within the city. "Hi!" He called out, excited to see his new teacher. Maybe this would even be his first mission.

Salzem's distraction made him unaware of  most of Dachi's inner conversation. His brain was divided in three... His humanity, the wolf, and his mind in the middle. He blinked and with a great effort and accompanying a massive headache, he managed to force the two minds down. His vision cleared as did his head and he heard Dachi exclaim his name. He leveled his gaze at his student and smiled widely under his gas mask. At least he had someone to keep him sane.... However... Salzem's smile faded a little as his mind processed one bit he caught. "How can a village be made of a leaf?" Was he referring to Konoha? Did that even matter? Salzem didn't know. He knew he shouldn't care about this. He was long free of Kono and yet.... he felt disturbed by the name. Salzem forced the thought from his mind, causing his head to throb cripplingly, and his smile brightened again. He only needed to half-force it

"Hey there, Dachi!" Salzem waved back, offering as much enthusiasm as he could muster. He offered a hand out to Dachi for him to shake before getting down to business. And a nasty business it was. First, they would have to locate both gangs. Then, they would need to take them both out without harming the surrounding civilian population. It would be hard. It would be bloody. With silent determination, Salzem would keep his friend... his student alive. That was his job wasn't it? That was what he'd done from the very beginning with Kouse, Cole and Hikari right...?

"Alright! Ready to catch some bad guys?" Salzem said, trying to make this seem as mild as possible.

"Alright!

"Bad guys?" Dachi said, the excitement rising in his voice. "Oh boy! Am I ready!"
With this, Dachi would do a small jump, swinging his hand into the air as a fist.

He wanted to prove himself to Salzem, to show that he was a strong and capable (woman that don't need no man), erm, I mean, shinobi, and just like the small child that he was, maybe even achieve the next rank. He knew this was pushing it, because he didn't actually know any jutsu, but small children always have the wildest dreams.

"When do we go?" He asked, his face lit up, until we saw Salzem.

"Salzem?" Dachi asked hesitantly. "Is...Is everything okay?" Despite his age, he could tell something was off. He didn't know Salzem very well, but he was acting the same way that Dachi might when he ate the last piece of cake and didn't want anyone to know.

(Sorry it's so short, didn't want to keep you waiting)
