Kaneki's Genin Exam

Kaneki walked towards the academy with a small smile on his face. Today was the day he had been waiting for, the day he got to become a Genin, a true shinobi. While his father had warned him about the dangers of shinobi life he hoped to start his first day right, with success. The boy pulled the hood to his white shirt over his matching hair before walking into the front door. He saw that his graduating class was already assembled, as usual he walked to the back of the class and sat away from the others. While he was sitting he simply stared out the window, in a quiet anticipation of what was to come.

I realize that the rules in this sub-forum did not say it, but that was a misstep on our part. We wrote the announcement for each village and somehow it must have been left out in this one. The proctor walked into the room, a small frown on her face despite her attempts to be cheery. The small flowers she had been receiving on her desk had at first simply made her smile, then she had become curious as to their sender and now... well, she wouldn't have to worry about that now, she had work to do.

"Come in," she called out to the student, getting to the next hopeful attempting the exam. "Please come to the front and demonstrate the transformation and clone technique and explain it to the best of your understanding." The redhead smiled kindly at the candidate in case she was nervous about the exams. "Take your time."

Kaneki had spent the better part of a week perfecting his jutsu for this day. He knew that this was the chance for him to become a fully fledged ninja. There were some that had gone through the academy and been rejected as Genin. He would not be one of them. Kaneki paused to go over the two jutsu once more in his mind. The shadow clone jutsu, which he had learned easily, and the transformation jutsu. He recalled the day with his father and it all came back to him, a smile came to his face as he realized he was going to pass. Kaneki smiled not only at that thought but at the thought of the whole new array of jutsu he would learn from a jounin. Hopefully he would even have access to the training he would need to become anbu one day.

Kaneki watched as the instructor entered the room and he simply looked back out the window. He did not really care who she was as long as he made it to Genin today. He exhaled softly when he heard her call to him. After a moment he stood, pulling on his hood to reveal his snow white hair. He paid little attention to the others in the class as he made his way down. When he looked to the instructor her smile was welcomed only with a somewhat questioning stare from the boy. Without wasting any time Kaneki spoke to the instructor and the class. "The first jutsu is the Transformation jutsu. As an E-rank jutsu it is one of a shinobi's most basic techniques. The purpose of the jutsu is to disguise yourself as another person or object to distract or confuse the enemy. It is also used as an espionage level jutsu depending on the situation." While he looked over the class he could not help but glare. Kaneki would not consider himself a shinobi filled with malice, but at times he could not help but wonder what use some of his classmates would ever serve. It seemed like some of them were just...there.

The young shinobi formed the three basic hand seals that the jutsu requires. "The hand seals necessary for this jutsu are dog, boar, and ram. The jutsu requires a constant and steady flow of chakra if it is to be completed successfully. It also requires focus on the target of your jutsu if it is to be done flawlessly." After speaking Kaneki quickly formed the hand signs necessary. Dog. Boar. Ram. "Transformation jutsu." As his chakra surged and smoke surrounded him he took on the appearance of his instructor. After transforming he turned to his instructor, making sure she saw that it was a flawless copy, as far as he was concerned. After showing off his transformation he dropped the jutsu and returned to his own form. "The technique can also be used to transform yourself into an object, not just a person. Once more the boy formed the hand seals to the jutsu. Dog. Boar. Ram. "Transformation jutsu." In another puff of smoke the boy changed into a boulder, though it was not practical for the classroom he simply wished to show a good example. The next moment he reversed the jutsu and returned to his regular appearance once more.

Kaneki looked to the class before speaking up once more. "The next jutsu is the Clone jutus, like the transformation jutsu it a basic technique used to distract or confuse the enemy. The purpose of the jutsu is to create a double of yourself. The only flaws of the technique is that the clones will cast no shadow nor kick up dust so they can be seen through if someone is looking for it. The handsigns are Ram, snake, and tiger." The boy quickly formed the hand seals while looking to his class. As he formed the hand seals he focused on his training, he recalled the moment and how his chakra had flowed. After finally matching the moment he began weaving the hand signs. Ram. Snake. Tiger. "Clone jutsu." The boy created a perfect clone before looking to his instructor. As the clone stood there Kaneki sank his hands in his pockets. With another look he realized that the clone was flawless, it was an exact copy of the boy and it caused him to smile, only slightly, under his hood. "The clone technique will last as long as you decide to keep feeding it chakra. If it comes into contact with something it will not disappear but it will be obvious at that point that it is a clone."

After another moment Kaneki dropped the jutsu and exhaled once more. "Like I said, both of these jutsu are primarily used to distract or confuse the enemy." After finishing he simply looked to his instructor, wondering if he had passed or not.
