Mission Name: Building a Dream
The ocean waves crashed against the beach and shear rock walls. Walking along the beach Vh’idrruss was looking for the perfect hideout. His dream was to have a place far from the bustling cities, and instead live in seclusion, preferably near the ocean where many of his fragmented memories took place.
Vh’idrruss was drawn to the water. It was second nature to him. Conjuring up the water elements was one of the first memories that he recalled after escaping the lab. He could create simple water constructs and use the water element in a fight if need be. He had a long road to master the element, but he felt that with time and training anything was possible.
Walking along the beach, the cliff faces of the mountains rose high into the sky, with perfectly shear sides. Seashells were scattered all along the beach, which would be good for crafting or decoration. Crabs and other small creatures skittered along the damp sand. Not sure what he would find he continued his search, while enjoying the perfect weather.
The sun was shining down upon Vh’idrruss, with hardly a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful day. The spray of the surf was refreshing, and the sound of the waves crashing against the beach made it just that more spectacular. He couldn’t remember a day that had been like this. Just a serene day. He looked back and noticed that his footprints were being washed away leaving what would seem like an untouched beach.
After hours of just walking the beach with its fine black sand and exploring the sheer faced cliffs, he found a secluded cove. It was beautiful, with the ocean water creating a small natural lake, which was surrounded by cliffs in all directions. There was only one way into the cove and looked untouched. There were a plethora of plants, flowers, and towering trees growing around the cove.
The most beautiful aspect of the cove was a giant waterfall pouring from high up from the sheer faced cliffs. The waterfall crashed into the saltwater lake, mixing the fresh water with the salt water. The sound of the crashing waterfall was deafening.
Vh’idrruss explored the secluded cove, which was home to a host of insects and some small animals. Hawks and other birds lived among the towering trees or made nests in the cracks high up on the sheer faced rock walls. The saltwater lake was filled with all types of glinting fish, as well as starfish and colorful anemones.
As he made his was toward the waterfall, he began to feel small. The size of the waterfall was massive.
He could not tell where it started, but using his water senses could tell that it was a fresh water source.
He noticed a small trail that seemed to lead up to the waterfall. The narrow path was slick with moss and wet stones. It took skill to traverse the trail without slipping. The path eventually took him behind the waterfall, which opened into a spacious, dimly lit chamber. The sound of the waterfall was all he could hear, and vines covered the walls. He noticed that the chamber was just the beginning of a series of caverns and caves.
Exploring deeper into the caverns he found a giant chamber. The main chamber was broad and flat, with natural stone formations throughout, which would be a perfect place for furniture and crafting stations. There were small freshwater pools scattered throughout, which formed from the dripping stalactites.
There were openings high up in the rock ceiling, allowing slivers of sunlight or moonlight to filter in, which illuminated the cavern with a strange almost magical glow. Bioluminescent moss covered the walls, casting soft, eerie light.
A freshwater river made its was along one side of the cavern, which feed into a natural basin. This would be an excellent source of water, which could be purified with Vh’idrruss’s Water Release.
Vh’idrruss took his time to explore, while dreaming up plans for his newfound hideout.
A short tunnel nestled in the back of the cavern led to a small cavern which would be perfect for a crafting corner. Glowing crystal formations lined the walls.
He would setup his workbench here, using polished smoothed driftwood that would be supported by carved stone legs. The workbench would be etched with runes and other symbols to inspire creativity and focus.
There would be compartments throughout to store tools and crafting materials. Certain tools could be hung on the walls, which would include hammers, chisels, needles, and other tools, enhanced with chakra-infused metals for precision.
Shelves lined with seaweed and/or moss would be used to protect delicate items, which would include herbs, crystals, and scrolls.
Jars and other containers created from shells, clay, or glass would be used to hold various crafting components.
The crystals and bioluminescent moss clinging to the walls would help with lighting the area. Lanterns fueled by chakra or oil would provide additional light for detailed work.
Another small cavern he found he thought would be an excellent area for apothecary, where he could create poisons and other potions. Glowing mushroom adorned the small cavern, and the walls glistened with water.
He also found a cozy alcove that was warm and dry. He thought this would be the best place to use as a sleeping quarters.
There was many other caverns and alcoves throughout the maze-like system. An ideal place to use for a hideout.
“Now comes the hard part,” he thought. Getting all the materials and other items for the hideout. He could use driftwood and timber from all the nearby beaches and forests in the area. Stone could be acquired from local rock quarries or even cut from many of the sheer cliffs that rose high into the sky. Coral could be collected from the tidepools located throughout the area. And finally, he could purchase fabric or even scrap to help create some of the furniture.
He would have to be quiet and not leave any trails back to the cavern, but he was a trained soldier and thought that he could manage.
The first thing he would do it create a place to sleep. It would probably just start with a basic bedroll but overtime he could have a warm king-size bed to lay in, covered in exotic blankets with down to keep him warm. Throw rugs and carpets would adorn the sleeping quarters.
There would be crafted dressers and other storage furniture located through the sleeping area. The storage area would be for his traveling clothes and any other equipment he might collect upon his travels.
Candles and other light sources would be located throughout the sleeping alcove. He could use jutsu-infused lighting to light up the cavern.
He would have to procure workbenches and other items for crafting, as well as a racks and other storage furniture for ingredients and other items used in crafting.
Traps and other defenses would also have to be added as soon as possible, to help keep unwanted visitors from finding his location.
Thinking of unwanted visitors caused Vh’idrruss to remember his years tortured as a prisoner of a rouge group of medical-nin. These thoughts overwhelmed his senses, and then noticed that the cavern walls began to shimmer and move, as if they were alive. Dread began to overcome him. They then began to slowly collapse and crumble, leaving the blackest darkness behind.
The memory of his screams began to fill his ears, drowning out the noise of the giant waterfall.
The glowing mushrooms throughout the cavern began to rot away before his eyes, leaving rotted husks in their place. The smell of blood was everywhere, leaving him in a blood frenzy.
He turned to run from these memories, but he was paralyzed in place. He could barely move a muscle. Fear of not being able to move, reminded him of being tied down to a medical table, where scalpels were used to carve his skin, into a series of symbols and runes.
They watched his carved skin bleed and heal, as they sought the secrets of his blood.
Elemental jutsu of all-kind was used to test his pain tolerance, seeing which jutsu was more effective against his Blood Release.
With a final scream on his lips, he awoke from his dream. Looking frantically around for the rotting mushrooms, or the rogue medical-nin, he only saw the small room he had being staying in. Covered in bloody sweat and the feeling of rage, he realized that it was just another nightmare, but at the same he remembered the beach and the beautiful weather. The waves crashing against the shore. The sun upon his face, and the cove that he wanted to call home.
A small smile crossed his lips, he felt that maybe he would not relive his nightmares forever. His first descent dream in a very long time gave him hope of overcoming this cycle of despair. Remembering the cove, he decided to make that his new goal, to find a place to call home.
