Re: First Mission for Hyogagakure

Travins bones started to move at the mention of slaughtering innocents, after all academy student or not he was not about to let a cereal killer roam the village, or train them. However, when Hwan changed his mind telling Travin that he feels guilty for stepping on a bug, the bones settled back down. The tangent that Hwan was on however did not and it kept going. Telling Travin that what he really needed was a super strong jutsu. It was the same story that he had heard from so many people. They all believed that having one really strong jutsu was better than having a really strong defense. Travin was the opposite; he only needed one jutsu to be able to kill you, but he needed several to make sure that you were unable to kill him. “Hwan having a strong jutsu does not mean you win the fight. I have walked through some really powerful jutsu without so much as a scrap. A truly powerful shinobi can not only dish out the damage but must also be able to take a hit as well. It is only a matter of time before your luck will run out and you will end up against someone like me that doesn't care about your super powerful jutsu and will still stab you in the face while you're trying to make your handseals to launch it.” He would give Hwan a few seconds to let that sink in before continuing. “The basic jutsu is the building blocks of learning how to control your chakra, without mastering them you will not have the skill or ability to master the more difficult and advanced jutsu. This is why we are going to start with the clone jutsu and you will keep practicing till you get right. Otherwise I will teach you the way I was taught and you will go home this afternoon with a few bruises on your body” Travin would turn to look at Hwan letting him know that he was not playing with the look.
Once Hwan had attempted the clone jutsu and failed, Travin would simply look at him and say “Again.”

Hwan would slowly nod as he listens to the White-Shinobi talk about the nature of Jutsu. This guy seemed very wise, "You know maybe if I went to school. I would have learned this. Still not going to but you seem very enlightened! Don't worry. I'll just skip straight to the tests!" Hwan would slowly nod. "I'm gonna show up all mysterious-like! Chicks love mysterious guys; you wouldn't know because you probably don't talk to women. Then, after I easily ace the test. The women are all going to flock towards me... Like an animal... Which flocks..." Hwan would realize, he doesn't actually know a lot of animals. He thinks for a moment, how long has he been skipping school? "Point being! I am going to be super cool, and just like having dead parents and a traumatizing childhood is cool. Having women fall in love with you but then ignoring their advances is ALSO super cool! I mean think about it, all cool guy stories end with the cool guy getting married because getting married is NOT COOL!"
Hwan would then listen to talk about Basic and Advanced Jutsu and simply shrug, sure what he is saying SOUNDS correct, but it also sounds like the loser's way to do it, "You sure I can't just pray to Yuki-onna to learn all the boring Jutsu for me?"
Hwan would attempt to perform the Clone Jutsu once more, performing the handsigns with a finely honed skill but still not putting out any chakra! Hwan would visibly get frustrated when he fails this second time. "I already know what you are going to tell me! I need to try again! Gosh, give me some advice! Am I doing the wrong handsign! I thought this was Ram! Maybe it's lamb!" He would kick up a bit of snow.

Travin watched as Hwan was getting frustrated about not being able to perform the first jutsu. It was the first jutsu for a reason, and Travin knew that it was the first step on the way to learning how to use jutsu of any speciality. It was a hard first step for some and for others like himself it came easy, but he also had experience with naturally using his chakra. “First you have to push your chakra out of your body. Channel it into the jutsu while you perform the handseals. I can not help any more than that, no one ever taught me how to control my chakra. For me it just happens naturally, I never had any problems, but I do know that this step can be the hardest step, and each step after will be easier.”
Travin wasn’t sure how else he was going to be able to help. It would appear that if Hwan was unable to use this jutsu he would be unable to become a shinobi. Making Travin wonder if Hwan really skipped school was kicked out, and just got it in his mind that he skips every day.

Travin walked with the caravan as Hwan tried to use the jutsu, he was not sure what the problem was and tried to offer some guidance from time to time to help him out, and if he managed to get the jutsu down. Travin would show him the Transformation jutsu as well as the hand seals for him to practice on. While also telling him that this is the reason why it was important not to skip school so much and to do the work that was given. Travin was never given the chance to get trained in any of his skills that he currently had, and had never gotten a mentor. It was probably the reason why he was not a very good teacher either. Since no one had ever taught him how to really do much, he wasn’t sure on how to teach anyone else to do it. It was definitely something that he needed to work on and the best way to work on it. Would be if he were to ask someone to teach him how to do something, but he wasn’t sure if that was something he could do. After so many years wandering around the world on his own with no one to really watch his back, after all any time you teamed up with someone you never knew if they were going to stab you in the back and take all the money for themselves. It was the main reason why Travin rarely worked with other vagabonds back before he joined the village. Oddly enough, I find it safer to stay alone than to trust someone. That was up to the point that he had met Kai. Kai seemed different from the other vagabonds that he had met, but then again Kai was not a vagabond he had found out that he was a member of the Shinobi Village in the land of snow.
The duo had worked together on several missions while they were both in the land of hot springs. Up till Travin had gotten word that a mark he had been hunting for had showed up in a different land. The two agreed to meet back up in the land of snow inside of the new village, and Travin was left disappointed when he arrived in the new country as the man had already moved on, and he was forced to turn and make his way to the land of snow. Upon arriving he was welcomed and they paid for his stay in the local Inn that he was still staying in to this day. Granted now he was paying the rent for the room, but he enjoyed the village. Once his friend Kai had arrived he had to help a man named Jupiter by healing him of his wounds. After which Kai initiated both Jupiter and Travin into the village of Hyogagakure. He had been working for the village and visiting his friend when he could get some time, and even helped figure out a problem while meeting a slew of other shinobi that were now flocking to the village, and its growing population and jobs.
It was Kai who even gave Travin his first nickname and it was starting to catch on as well. People were calling him the Phalanx due to his immense defensive ability, and offensive bursts he could put out. The name was even starting to grow on him as well, and he was starting to introduce himself from time to time as the Phalanx. All of this had only fed his desire to make sure that his friend Kai would succeed as the Kage, and that no one was going to get to him to harm him. Before Travin even noticed he realized that he was not loyal to the village so much. He liked the place for sure and he enjoyed the people and the village itself, but he had never been loyal to much of anything other than the ship that he mostly grew up on. No it was Kai that he was finding that he was loyal to. The man had found him when he had nothing, and gave him everything. Travin took his duties very seriously and he was going to grow in power and in the ranks of the village till the day that he was able to stand beside Kai as an equal both in his own eyes and that of the village as well.
This all went through his mind as he walked to the small village near the Hyogagakure. Only growing as he returned and once again saw the frozen gates of the village standing tall to ward off all attacks. Travin made his way back in to the village and wished Hwan a good afternoon as he turned and made his way in the opposite direction of Hwan. he was going to be heading back to the Inn he needed to have a drink after the long walk and was starting to get hungry. He was pretty sure he could tell that Jhin was already starting to get the grills ready to go for dinner now.
