Salt Release: Swelling Prison
Fri Jun 23, 2023 8:59 am
Name: Salt Release: Swelling Prison
Element: Salt
Rank: A/S
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Particular Jutsu Type: AoE
Backstory: An AoE jutsu to deal with field control and ensnare targets into its system.
Appearance:
Handseals:
A-Rank: Dragon → Boar →Rat → Bird → Tiger → Monkey → Snake
S-Rank: Dragon → Boar →Rat → Bird → Tiger → Monkey → Snake→ Hare
Duration:
A-Rank: 3 Posts
S-Rank: 4 Posts
Cooldown:
Posts used +2
Range: 20/35 meters
Power: 50/Vigor
Speed: 50/Vigor
Health: 50/Vigor
Stat Boosts: –
What it does:
Upon activation of this jutsu, the user creates an overwhelming sea of salt in the form of a wave to cover the field in all directions starting three meters from the user and expanding outwards. The wave measurements can interchange, so that its height and width can fluctuate 1 time per post, but it cannot exceed 40/70 meters in total max dimensions. Therefore, at A-rank the wave could be 10 meters in height, and width of 5 meters. Whereas, at S-rank the wave could be 20 meters in height with a width of 10 meters. Regardless of the height/width it’s molded to, the thickness of the salt wave will be 5 meters.
Upon connecting to the targets, the wave who it crashes into will suffer damage equal to power of the jutsu. Any target caught by the trajectory of this wave will be subjected to a stat check which targets their strength stat. If this jutsu possesses a power greater than the strength of those caught in its grasp, they will be buried within the salt wave and have 2 posts to break free from it or they will be suffocated per breathing rules. While buried, they are incapable of maneuvering and performing hand signs. Should the target/s possess a strength equal to or greater than this jutsu’s power, they can resist the effects and stay above its pull.
The user is immune to the effects that the technique imposes on others.

Heyo, I will be your mod on this. I'm ngl, there is a lot of work for this technique, and fair warning a new ruling is being implemented that was brought up in staff chat earlier (not specifically because of this technique though); more on that in the requested edits below.
To begin, one of the main issues which can be easily resolved is the dimensions of this technique. Because this is an AoE, the waves dimension needs to be kept in mind when it comes in terms to the range of the tech. In this current iteration, S Rank is 4x greater than the current amount we allow for the range of AoEs. Within the Jutsu Guidelines, it states that AoEs have their ranges halved, with the user acting as the focal point for it. So at most, at A and S Rank you could have a range of 20/35 meters respectively. For AoEs, the effective area can't exceed that of the range at it's specified rank listed in the Jutsu Guidelines. So, if you use the base 20/35 meters, your wave then has 20/35 more meters to work with across it's width and height. However, say you wanna expand the range it goes out to, you could theoretically do so by using less than those numbers when adjusting it's width and height. I.e. if you only make it 10 m tall and 5 m wide at A Rank, you could expand it's range to 25 m, since altogether, it still doesn't exceed 40 m.
Now onto the other main issue which was discussed in staff chat. A lot of techs recently have been adding a lot of things to their techs, status effects, stat checks, damage, etc, us staff do understand that tech's are going to inevitably become ever so slightly to app as a lot has been created tech wise, but unfortunately the decision has been made to crack down on this moving forward with new creations. Techs are now going to be limited to having 2 standard effects in which they can deal. Damage being one of them. Status effects also being included in this list. More in the up and coming days will be revealed on this, and it will be properly added into the guidelines with a detailed list of what all is being included as a "standard effect". Right off the bat, this tech has about 5 which would count. Damage, suffocation, immobilization, equipment corrosion, and an immunity clause for both self and allies; which if the last one is one you decide to keep, it will need the addition of Sensory as a spec needed for this tech as self immunity is somewhat fine, but ally immunity on an offensive tech would require the addition of it. Also making the note, AE passives such as Salt Release's equipment corrosion do count against the number of effects a tech can pertain. With this all being said, the only requested edit is that from the five I mentioned and saw within, minimize it to 2.
Lastly, this one can be ignored if you choose to edit out the suffocation effect. It was also brought up that since this has an A Rank version which causes suffocation, it seems something which should be either a Restricted VE or at least the bonus requirement of C Rank +. This is along the basis that the tech can be easily abused by picking it up at D Rank, and taking out an A Rank in 2 posts simply because they didn't have enough strength. Granted, an A Rank would most likely have a tech to defend against this easily, it still is something that needs to be considered if that effect were to remain in the technique.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to message me on discord!
