Nasu Asami

The Character
Name: Nasu AsamiAlias: --
Age: 12
Ninja Rank: D
Power Rank: D
Village: Sakuragakure
Height: 5'4
Weight: 115 lbs
Appearance:
See picture above.
Asami has long pink, flowing hair. It's generally fairly messy and uncombed as she doesn't have time to take care of it between her missions, job, and errands. She's fairly small but physically fit, and usually carrying her sword or blacksmithing tools with her. She doesn't care much for fashion or appearances except for special occasions, and usually just wears light fitting clothes with overalls over top to prevent her clothes from getting dirty when she works in the forges. She wears either steel toed boots for work or sneakers, preferring them to the sandals most shinobi wear. In addition to her sword she also carries the standard set of ninja tools on her belt, and has one additional pouch for her blacksmithing tools she wears while in the village.
Personality:
Asami is a somewhat stoic, responsible kid, mature beyond her years. She's serious in all aspects of her life, and it's rare to see her play around or even smile, but it does happen. She takes her work and missions especially seriously, and prides herself on everything she does. She never half asses anything- she might struggle, take breaks, or have to ask for help, but she always gives 100% of her effort to the things she cares about and sees as important, and has an iron will that perseveres through many hardships. She's generally independent, but is also a strong leader, though it's not something she usually seeks out.
While she strives to be a good person, fair and just, she can also be extremely pushy, overbearing, and bossy. She has an extreme thirst for knowledge in all it's forms, even if that knowledge isn't something she should know- or is told that she shouldn't, at least. She can act fairly arrogantly, half the things that she brags about she knows is practically unlikely, if not impossible, but she's so confident that if on the off chance her words get her into trouble (which rarely happens- she does take things very seriously after all) she does her best to back them up, no matter how impossible the challenge is.

The Journey
Story:
- Beginning:
Asami grew up in what became Sakuragakure to two loving parents, her father was the village blacksmith, responsible for the maintenance, creation and upkeep of weapons and tools in the village, in addition to helping the building and creation of the village when it was first created. He also ran a store which sold weapons, tools, and jewellery that he also made. One of, if not the most skilled artisans in the village, her father's influence and funds were among some of the highest in the village, and he was responsible for many things around the village, including the care and planting of the many Sakura trees around the village, increasing the number greatly into what it is now. This is also how he met Asami's mother, who was a botanist that ran a flower arrangement store in the village- as there was not the large storefront and business district there is now, she did deliveries and often went door to door before meeting her husband and becoming more of a housewife. From her father she learned how to smith as soon as she could hold a hammer and tongs, helping her father even as a toddler with menial tasks and traveling with him around the village to help those in need. From her mother she learned many things of necessity to Kunoichi and how to take care of herself through farming, chores, etc. As a child she quickly took an interest in the weapons and tools she helped her father make, and if she wasn't in the forge she would be practicing her sword work, or any of the other things her parents taught her about. Above everything else she wanted to make her parents proud, and learned much about the village and the traditions from her father, who had been there since the start, despite having a child so late in life. She felt the weight of all the expectations on her and thrived in that, wishing for nothing more than to please her mother and father.
She grew up fast, and at the age of began training in Sakuragakure, one of few who had chosen to do so. Soon afterwards her parents died a natural death of old age, and her parents wealth and responsibilities were passed onto her at the age of 8. She threw herself into her studies and training,; she was already studious and responsible, but she took it to the next level and soon afterwards began to take missions outside of the village with more risk She had no problem living independently thanks to her mothers teachings and her fathers wealth, but she missed her parents fiercely. She swore to uphold the village and cherry blossom trees and see them both grow so that her parents could be happy looking down on them. After graduating she mostly continued her training and continued to support the villagers the best she could with her blacksmithing, taking over many of the things her father had done even in retirement. She also met someone who became her best friend, another girl on her same squad. She continues to do her best to become stronger and uphold the pride of her parents, clan, and the village she was part of. Most recently, she met the new leader of the village, and was evaluated to be at Genin rank already, and soon to be taught more of the way of the Ninja.
-----
Boring. That's how Nasu Asami would describe this trip. Despite still being a child, she had been ferrying merchants between Lilypad Village and other places in the Land of Trees for months. They were usually extremely boring. If you were lucky, you got a spot on a caravan and got to sit down while traveling, and food and warmth at night keeping watch. If you weren't lucky, you walked on your own and ate the meager rations you had brought with you for the trip. The latter instance was far more common. But all the same, Asami knew that this important work, and she was happy to do it- mostly. Without keeping the roads clear, merchants to and from Lilypad Village wouldn't be able to come and peddle their wares, or go elsewhere to do so. Not only that, but the supply of things that couldn't be grown or made in the village would dry up. The village would suffer, and Asami couldn't allow that. So here she was. Trudging through the mud and dirt, babysitting a group of merchants on their way to the village. She looked forward to a time when the village was more powerful, when bandits would think twice about even stepping foot on the ground they walked on currently. One day, she knew that would happen. Some Shinobi was in town, and their meager Shinobi Force was growing exponentially.
Forget that, she thought to herself. Focus on the mission.
Asami sighed to herself, cutting off her train of thought and focusing on her surroundings. Even if she was bored, and even if anything was unlikely to happen, she should still be prepared, she told herself. Constant vigilance always paid off, or so her father had told her many times. She was still working on that part.
The sun was beginning to set, she noticed. It would soon be time for a meal around the campfire and shared stories. It was also, she noted, the perfect time for an ambush. They were just entering a heavier, dense part of the forest. Visibility was at an all time low with the hanging branches and the canopy nearly blotting out the sun. Her hand twitched towards her sword hidden in it's scabbard and she focused her attention around the branches above her. Something told her this wasn't going to be the same lackadaisical mission it was usually. She had no basis for that thought- nothing seemed particularly out of place, but her instincts simply told her that danger was nearby. A more skilled Shinobi might have noticed the silence- even at night a forest is noisy, but on this night it seemed nary an animal was making a peep.
Growing more tense as they walked, she was about to call out to the merchants to stop for the night when as fast as a lightning strike, there were two figures in front of her, coming after her with blades drawn. She gritted her teeth, pulling her sword free from it's sheathe in one smooth motion, holding it out in front of her in a two handed stance, blade upright and angled perpendicular to her body, ready to take on her attackers. One of them moved left, the other right as they ran towards her, each thrusting kunai at her sternum. She took a step back, giving herself more room to work with, angling her blade parallel with her body to block one strike, pivoting with her left foot to twist to the side and avoid the other blow. Locking her blade with the one she had blocked, she pushed as hard as she could, attempting to force their arm back and then aiming a kick into their stomach. She stepped back, changing her direction to prepare for the other ninja who was turning back to her and slashing at her, and ducked underneath the swing, driving one hand into the sternum, causing them to double over in pain. She turned her attention back to the other ninja, narrowly blocking a swing with her arm, grunting silently in pain as she took the blow and swung her own sword, steeling herself as she slashed across their body, wincing as blood splattered over her as she drew her blade back, preparing herself to end the life of the other Shinobi currently coughing up blood. She sighed, lamenting the state of this world, and finished the deed. Scanning for any other threats, she determined there were none and yelled to the merchants that it was safe now. She ripped a shirt off one of the dead bodies, wiping her blade clean meticulously and replacing it in it's sheathe once more. She began to search the dead bodies, closing each ones eyes and saying a quick prayer. It was the least she could do, despite their actions against her.
