Goodbye. Wait actually the opposite
Wed Mar 15, 2023 2:47 am
Hi. I'm Jay. I've met a lot of you on the discord, but I'm aware that not everyone here uses the discord -- and I would want to make sure I'm meeting everyone. Additionally, it never hurts to post a thorough introduction.
I'm 25, and haven't done this kind of thing before. Not exactly, at least. I essentially grew up on a forum that shared some similarities with this one. It was called "Fluidanims.com," and it was a stick-figure animation website. I was not a good animator at the time, but I enjoyed it as a spectator and found myself becoming a staple part of that community for a time. Posting is a powerful art. Since Fluidanims was purchased and dismantled over 10 years ago, I've always longed to find something to fill its place in my heart; though, nothing ever has. With the internet's monopolistic conquest by social media, the old-school forum has become somewhat antiquated. Endangered, rather. It's fallen out of fashion. And that is a sad situation. I'll shitpost on twitter until the day its current leadership drives it into the dirt, but that is no replacement for the feeling of a community like this.
So, despite having little experience participating in large-scale authorial roleplaying, I am willing to give it a shot.
I've DM'd in dnd for 7 years now. I'm a fairly accomplished Dungeon Master, and in participating in that hobby, I feel as though I've become an adept storyteller. I have tried to write many books; but, the problem with a sentence is that it's composed of words, and the problem with words is that you're never quite sure if you're picking the right one. I suffer from analysis paralysis. One of the great appeals of Dungeon Mastering for me has been knowing that others are counting on me to finish my ideas in time. I enjoy being relied upon in that way. It is urgently motivating, which is the panacea for writer's block. I have little interest in telling an independent story on here, but I have a great interest in becoming intertwined with the larger goings-on of this world.
To you, reader, I wish to interact with your character. I wish to be a part of YOUR story, if you'd let me.
I just need to figure out all the damn rules first. I will.
I've always been a Naruto fan, ever since I stayed up late to watch it on Toonami. Alongside comically incomplete justification, here are my favorite characters, in order:
1. Kakashi Hatake (I like masks.)
2. Itachi Uchiha (I like pacifism and genjutsu.)
3. Rock Lee (When I work out, I think of him.)
4. Shikamaru (He's playing 4D Shogi.)
5. Lady Tsunade (I love when attractive characters can level buildings.)
Admittedly, I actually never finished the show. Maybe because a good portion never aired on Toonami. I've learned everything after the original series from copious wiki reading, becoming extremely well versed in the show's extremely good lore.
I had no idea about all the terrible filler, either. Currently, I'm rewatching through the show with my girlfriend, who is watching for the first time and is an instant fan. Tonight, we watched Gaara and Lee's team-up vs Kimimaro. God, this show is so fucking good. We were hooting and hollering. Also, we have a tradition of celebrating every time a diagram of any kind appears on the screen, taking a drink if we have it and such. I would recommend doing so -- and if you haven't watched Naruto alongside a loved one, you're making a mistake. Our enthusiasm is getting some of our friends into the show as well. It might just be in my little bubble, but the show is experiencing a kind of cultural resurgence right now. Pog.
Other interests of mine include fighting games, like Guilty Gear Strive and Smash Bros. Melee. I main Faust and Sheik, respectively. Hit me up if you want games some time. I expect to enjoy sparring with this character quite a great deal as soon as I finish figuring out how it works, exactly.
Feel free to reach out for any reason, actually. I'm looking to lay down some roots. I love how long some of you have been part of this community, and it's been nothing but friendly and welcoming. Good vibes.
See you around!
P.S. Building a 3-Man squad of some kind, at least a temporary one, would be the dream. I've heard it's a long-shot, but, if you're interested, hit me up. If you want evidence of my writing talents, check my character app. In that post, I think I did an excellent job representing that of which I am capable... and I would like to lend those abilities to a team!

Welcome and thank you for the thorough Introduction! I am sure you will find many here who share similar experiences and interests.
Being active in the Discord is the best way to link up with the community and find people to RP with/have questions answered.
I hope you enjoy your time here and hopefully our character's will meet in the future!
