If Kazuyuki was being honest, he didn’t even know why this village chose to elect their kages. It seemed like a popularity contest more than anything, to him. Kages should be chosen based on abilities more than popularity, the whole system seemed like a recipe for disaster without too many established regulations for it in place. However, even as a genin with few in village connections, he would do his part and vote for their next kage of military operations.

The thought of voting for his cousin crossed his mind, after all, his cousin was much stronger than him. But if he voted for him, the man would likely have much less time with his wife and kid, he already worked too hard.

Sighing, Kazuyuki pondered who to vote for. He didn’t really know any other shinobi in village, his parents having retired to focus on establishing a proper compound for fellow Senju within the village. He hadn’t directly spoken to many, a problem he would have to remedy at some point if he ever wanted to surpass his cousin. The man was already a jounin with plenty of connections, after all.

There wasn’t really anybody else to vote for. However… he could always play a bit of a joke, since the ballots were quite literally anybody you wanted to write down. Shrugging, he wrote his own name down, figuring that there was no real chance of him winning. It couldn’t hurt things, surely. It’s not like anybody would vote for an unknown genin with little in the way of experience.

Claiming Komekage of Military Operations

Canary Hidemori was 7 years old and frankly still is, she is much to young to really have any major insight on what is good for the village beyond don’t harm others and be kind to people. It was a strange moment in the young girl’s life when she was being almost borderlined yelled at to go vote for the second kage position this one being in charge of the military operations unlike the last one who a genin by the name of Emi Tanaka had won due to being the only name on the ballot and only vote in the whole election.
 
It felt like most of the townspeople had given up on caring about the shinobi side of the world and simply focused on farming but here she was at the polls told to vote on a position she didn’t have any major thoughts on and looking at the paper in front of her it was blank. So they really expected her to simply write anyone’s name here even possibly her own, that brought a smirk to her face. A 7 year old academy student becoming kage what are the chances of that happening it would have to be such a lack of people caring about the vote for that to happen and even then Canary almost did it. She almost wrote her own name on the ballot but she pushed that train of thought out of her head and really thought about who she knew in the village that would do well in such a position, her thoughts went straight to her teachers and the gate guards.
 
Who better to lead then those who teach and protect the village already? So Canary wrote down the name of one of the gate guards, Kuruoshiki Oni. The nice man that looked similar to Canary in this village, she had always felt a kindred feeling from the man though he gave a look of death and annoyance to those who saw him but it was just how his face looked. With her vote submitted Canary made her way back to the Academy for her next class and to report to her teachers that she had done her duty and voted.
