Mission Details:

Another day, another morning waking up in the inn on the outskirts of Fire Country. So far he had been staying here for a month, and he had little to no complains. In comparison to his lodging in Earth Country, the Yamaguchi actually felt like he was well off. For starters he had a roof over his head, and was surrounded by four walls. Out west, he was lucky if he had a single tree overtop of his head for shade and shelter. Additionally he lied in a plush and soft mattress, which felt akin to lying on a cloud itself. He exhaled a deep sigh of relief and comfort, which was the first time in a long time he had been able to do so. Never would he had thought about all of the implications and consequences that came with his decision to kill an ally and go on the run. He felt as if he had just been following the ancestral guidance bestowed to him from his clan. If only that guidance had been more helpful. So far it resulted in him living the life of a vigilante, with the aim of finding his long lost brother. Yet as luck would have it, his brother had been no place to be found. He followed the leads he had acquired, which took him all the way out to Earth Country. But sadly it was to no avail. Instead he had came across two foreigners, who though nice, seemed too stagnant for him to stick around. And as luck's unladylike tendencies would be, Auron ended up abandoning his original goal. He felt tormented and cast aside by the things he took a chance on trusting. Yet amongst all the turmoil, trials, and tribulations, he finally caught a break laid up in this inn. Even the food had been sufficient, as simple and repetitive as it was. It sure as hell beat having to go out and hunt everyday. Thus each morning he'd spend a few moments reflecting on his life thus far and reflecting on how fortunate he had been at this point in time. He was grateful, because he was well aware of how quickly all of this could fall apart.

Rising from his prone position, he'd reach his hands up towards the ceiling and stretch them out. He'd roar out a massive yawn, and bring his hands down to his eyes to wipe the crust from them. Following this he'd stand straight up, and bend his back forward and allow his neck and lower lumbar to release its pent up tension. Touching his toes, he'd feel the stress in his body beginning to fade. At least to a small degree. Auron would rise back up, erecting his back in the process and proceed on towards the bathroom. Turning the shower's nods several times, streams of hot water would pour out from the head and begin to steam up the room. He'd undress himself, then hop into the shower and allow it to wash away the grime and burdens from the night before. The Yamaguchi would lather up his wash cloth, and go on to scrub his entire body. The water would wash away the dirt and suds, and soon after he'd feel squeaky clean. Cutting off the water, he'd hop out of the shower and dry his body off with a towel. When finished he'd wrap it around his lower abdomen and proceed over to the mirror. He'd wait for its fog to subside before taking a couple looks over his physique. He seemed to have more scars and bruises from the last time he inspected himself, but for the most part he didn't see anything concerning. This had been relieving to the boy, as he was no where near proficient when it came to iryojutsu or even basic first aid. And truthfully he didn't even know where to find a doctor in the small, quaint town he stayed in. So it was better to remain cautious and refrain from diving into danger. But his moderately cool personality and relaxed demeanor generally made this easy to accomplish.

Following his shower, he'd dress himself. First was his basic fatigues, all black and conservatively loose. Overtop of them came his flak jacket, which did a decent job of protecting his midsection. Finally came his black and white kimono and face mask. Walking over to the corner of the room, he'd retrieve his straw hat from the post it hung upon and firmly equip it to his head. Now it was time to set out. But before he did, he'd attach his Shimmering Blade's sheath snuggly on his hip. Locking the door on his way out, Auron would descend from the second floor of the inn down to the first. He'd approach the receptionist's desk, and offer her a slight nod.

"Good morning...I'm wondering if you have any leads for work today?" Auron would politely ask the woman.

"Actually yes, the town's leader is looking to do some renovations and fortifications of the village. You should be able to find him in the building across the street. It's sort of like a manor, you can't miss it.

"Thanks, I'll make sure to pay you guys out of whatever I make today."

"No worries, we know you're good for it."

With that, Auron would nod his head and set out from the inn. Upon pushing its saloon doors open and exiting from the building, the gust of warm summer air would dance by him. It smelled of greenery, with a touch of rain. He'd lift his head so that his eyes met the clouds and would see the formation of storm clouds gathering above his location. Even though he had hoped it would be a nice sunny day, the rain didn't bother him. Still though there seemed to be some time before the torrent would start. Thus he'd quickly make his way across the dirt road and towards the large building. It was made of lumber, and had stood at least 30 meters  tall with a similar width. He'd somewhat shrug as he'd maneuver closer to it, though the town manor it didn't seem very illustrious. It seemed rather simple and underwhelming. Perhaps that was one of the reasons its owner was looking to upgrade it along with the rest of the town. Auron would knock upon the oak doors and await a response.

Some moments after knocking, Auron could hear the approaching footsteps towards the door echo throughout the wide hall of the home. The sound of several locks unfastening came next, followed by the door slowly creeping open. When it was fully extended, a single man stood at its threshold waiting to greet the Yamaguchi. The first thing the boy noticed was that he was bald, and rather tall. Auron presumed that he was much older than himself, and probably one of the village elders to be exact. From what he had noticed, there weren't many older people in the town. Even those that worked the inn were likely in their 20's. So seeing an old man amongst a village of young people was slightly unsettling. Still though he didn't seem to be a threat or alarmed, he was actually friendly. Wearing a toothy grin, the crows feet at the corners of his eyes would widen.

"Hi, welcome to the Manor! Are you here for a tour?" the old man would ask while peering down at Auron, almost as if he was trying to get a better look at the boy.

"Uh actually no, I'm here for a potential work opportunity."

The man's face would scrunch up, and he'd fold his arms while appearing to be in a deep state of thought. "Hmmm" he began, followed by a moment of silence between the two. It had grown relatively awkward, and though Auron wanted to interject to remind the man of the renovations the manor needed, he refrained. It didn't seem right to have to inform the man of his own endeavors that needed completion, but luckily he wouldn't have to. The man's expression would shift to one of realization, suddenly remembering that his son did in fact just put up a contract to request the assistance of a shinobi to further fortify the town's defenses. The old man would turn in place, and with a strained yell he'd exclaim "SHUN!" He'd somewhat waddle down the hallway, showing signs of his aged body by how slow he moved. At the end of the hallway he'd veer off to the hallway, presumably in search of whomever he had been calling out. A moment after his disappearance another distant and faint "SHUN!" could be heard. How strange this had been for Auron so far, as he started to wonder what exactly had been going on. Thankfully though the slow start to this mission would come to a halt, as now a heavier set of footsteps began to approach the front door. These belonged to a larger man, both in height and in weight. He had been muscular, and dressed in a vest of some sort. At first glance, Auron presumed he had to have been the man's son due to his uncanny resemblance. And given his build, he had to be the enforcer of the manor.

"Hello," he called out as he approached the Yamaguchi. "The name's Shun, I'm the head of security here. Sorry for my old man, he's a bit out of it these days. But I heard you're here for the job posting I put up?"

It seemed like his intuition had been correct, seeing as the man had admitted to being the son of the elder and the security head. Auron would glance the man over momentarily before speaking. It was strange that a man of his stature needed support with fortifying the village. He seemed strong, competent, and capable. But perhaps that was just looks. "Yeah, I go by Auron. The innkeeper told me about your plan. What exactly do you need?"

"Well, I've just became security head of the village. And though I've made good progress, I am inexperienced in the art of surveillance. And so I need the help of a shinobi or a sensory specialist to establish some type of detection device to keep track of those in and around our village. I hope to house it within the Manor, seeing as it is quite locked up and fortified."

Suddenly it made sense. This man purely was the muscle and brains, and he could admit when he was underqualified for a job. Which was exactly why he sought to recruit Auron's services. "Okay, I can lend you my services. Show me where you had in mind."

"Follow me."

As Auron would be escorted into the large yet less than ornate mansion, he would follow this Shun fellow closely. The Yamaguchi couldn't help but notice the many different details of the manor. First off, the walls had been painted with a fresh coat of cream color paint. It seemed to match the floors well, which had been some type of ceramic tile. Within the hallways were the occasional console table, painting, decorative plants, and other items on display. To Auron it had been a wonder that a place even in this quality existed outside the realm of a major village. It would seem like an easy lick, to put it quite frankly, as this small village had no shinobi force to back it up in the case where issues broke out. The only thing they had that would come relatively close to such a unit would be the number of vagabonds, missing ninja, and mercenaries that would swing by the town and stay within the inn. Auron himself wouldn't group himself in that number though. He had no attachments towards this village, and looking to defend a town which resided in his country could easily be seen as even more treacherous should Konohagakure ever find out. It would make him sound like he was trying to destabilize the political dynamic of towns and minor villages within the same territory that a major village was renowned in. Additionally he didn't want to bring too much notoriety or infamy to his name. Though it had been some time since he last encountered a Konohagakure shinobi that seemed to be hunting him, it would be foolish to expect them to give up on his trail. Yet his original departure from Fire Country likely thwarted the tracker ninja's initial pursuit. Even though Earth Country no longer had a major village, it was still a hub of bandits and criminals who would make a shinobi's life hell. And so if the Konoha shinobi had ceased his pursuit then, the last thing they should expect would be Auron returning to Fire Country. But he figured he couldn't stay here too long. And the more missions he conducted while here, the more the chatter around his name, and the larger the target would be on his head. So it was only a matter of time until he took his leave. And truthfully he had been on the fence about this for awhile. Though he did want to confirm with the trio he had met, to see if they were planning on traveling too.

In any case, the footsteps of the pair would come to a slow end as they arrived outside a closed door at the end of the hallway. On the left of it, was a window that would show the courtyard hidden within the walls of the courtyard. It had seemed to be in good shape, with plants growing and small birds and butterflies visiting. On the right of the doorway, there was a painting that Auron presumed had to be at least 50 years old. It was an oil portrait of a young man, wearing a beautifully elegant royal blue robe, equipped with a pair of glasses, and a long braided beard. His head was bald, though the lush and black beard he bore would make Auron think he had shaved his head by choice. The guy was young. At least in the painting, now he had to have been some 60 to 70 years old at the minimum. Auron would think on the characteristics of this man, and they seemed to oddly resemble Shun's facial features. But the timeline didn't match up. So the Yamaguchi's next best guess had to have been Shun's father, the man who originally greeted Auron at the manor's entrance. It had to have been of the man in his heyday, as time clearly had his way with him. But this information wasn't important for the moment, what was crucial was what lied beyond the door ahead of the pair.

Shun would firmly place his hand upon the door knob, and turn it in a clockwise fashion. He'd simultaneously push the door forward lightly, opening it and revealing the disorganization that lied within. There had been exposed wires everywhere, unpackaged monitors, cameras, cardboard boxes, and a ton of other housekeeping concerns. Auron's face would frown somewhat, though hidden by the fabrics of his mask. This room had been nothing but a mess, but luckily it had been stocked with valuable equipment. How Shun acquired it was beyond Auron's concern, as the pressing issue at the moment was inevitable task that would be bestowed upon the Yamaguchi.

"So...I don't know how any of this works. But, I know that if it's set up properly and combined with some sort of jutsu, then we should have a good handle on keeping the village safe."

"Well...I can't say I'm a technology specialist, but I think I can help you with the tasks at hand. Tell me though, are you at all adept in any shinobi disciplines?"

With a confused expression, Shun would belt out a low "Huh?"

"More specifically, are you able to perform jutsu?"

"Ah, yes. Taijutsu and Fuinjutsu actually."

Thinking deeply to himself, Auron would try to put together a mental plan. It was times like these where he wished he had an accomplice by his side who could serve as the leader and brains of the operations. Planning and strategizing were never Auron's strong suit, and he doubted that he could rely on Shun to do so. Therefore the boy would have to just persevere and figure out a path forward. A brief moment would pass before an invisible lightbulb would illuminate over Auron's head.

"I have an idea."

"Okay, lay it on me."

"I think with my natural proficiencies in Sensory, and yours in Fuinjutsu, we could create a network of seals throughout the village and the surrounding area. These seals can be imbued with a sensory jutsu of mine, and then linked to one main seal which is stored within this room. And so the idea would be that each seal would passively perform that sensory jutsu, and when you place your palm on the main seal..."

"I could sense all that's detected from the seals emitting the sensory jutsu?"

"Exactly," Auron said following the interruption from Shun. It seemed like he wasn't so dense after all. "I've scouted the village out previously, so I think we should install 8 seals: one in each cardinal and intermediate directions, all 50 meters away from this point. That will give you a pretty sizeable range of detection. "

"Okay perfect. Let's move! And let's take some of these cameras too, I think I was able to get them configured and they just need to be placed now. Their chips are already installed in the monitors, but I don't know how to set those up. Help me with that when we get back!"

"Deal."

Following this agreement, the two men would gather the boxes of cameras and take off from the sensory room. They'd make their way first 50 meters north of the sensory room. This location was among some buildings on the outskirts of the village's boundaries. Just outside of it was the start to the neighboring forest, which would be a suboptimal location for the first seal. Instead the two scouted the buildings nearby, and found a secure and secret spot in an alleyway at the crest of a building. The two would scale the building and once at the top of its side, Shun would perform a series of hand seals to place a seal of Absorption and a Mark Seal. Auron would take the time to perform the seals required for Mind's Eye of the Kagura. When these sets of jutsu were performed, Shun would adjust his chakra expenditure to come out in the form of a single seal. It would be one able to absorb jutsu, yet still emit a mark that could be separately tracked. It absorbed the chakra from the Mind's Eye technique, and thus the first seal was primed and calibrated. Before departing from the first location, the pair would set up a camera and angle it so that it had a nice wide vantage point to survey the exterior and interion of this side of the village.

Once this first location had been established, the pair only had seven more to go. They'd rotate in a clockwise direction around the village, repeating the exact same process at the North East section of the village. Then came the East, South East, South, South West, West, and North West locations. Though the process had been streamlined it still took a decent amount of time to arrive at each location and set up their jutsu in a subtle fashion. They didn't want anyone to see this going down and potentially compromise the plan. But the seals that had been placed were easy to miss. They blended in well, and only offered the faintest markings upon their surfaces. When all eight locations had been hit, Auron and Shun returned to the sensory room. With the cameras out, it appeared a little tidier but there was still the issue of unpacking and setting up equipment.

"Alright...let's try to knock the technology side of it out together. My vision is to have all these monitors set up on the wall, and run off a single computer. So let's get started."

Begrudgingly, Auron would nod in agreement. He didn't want to play housekeeper and installation man, but sometimes you had to wear different hats to get paid. And so the duo worked through unpacking boxes, connecting wires from the computer to the monitor, and mounting stands upon the wall for each monitor. This process seemed to take just as long as it had to set up the seals, evident by the fact that the sun had began to set and it started to grow dark out. When they finished though, the room looked much neater. The table in the center of the room, adjacent from the desk that sat underneath the monitors, had been cleared off nicely. And so the pair would exchange a look, and without a word repeat the process they exercised to calibrate and prime one final seal. It would be placed in the middle of the wooden table, and it was bold and evident. When this was finished, Auron's sensory jutsu would be absorbed within it and it was time to test the theory.

"Alright, try it all out." The Yamaguchi would say with a sprinkle of anxiety in his voice. He was fearful that it would fail, and he wouldn't get paid. But at the same time, he had some hope. Shun would proceed to the computer and cut it on, and in a flash all 8 monitors lit up and displayed the pictures that their respective cameras captured. Step one, check. Next came his arrival to the table, where he'd lay one of his hands firmly upon the seal in the middle of the table. When he would do so, his chakra sensory would expand to the range of where all the seals had been placed, and he could sense all sources of chakra from in and around the village.

"Well damn, it works!" he'd exclaim in relief.

Auron would keep his cool, and offer a single nod of approval. "Good job. We surprisingly made a good team."

"Agreed...Hey, how long are you going to be around? We could really use someone like you here full time..."

Auron would softly shake his head no. "I will actually be leaving soon. There is some business I need to handle. And besides, the last thing your village needs is someone like me here. Trust me, you're better off without."

"Understood. Just know you have a home here. Even if you think we're better off. And here, take your payment. Guess I'll see you around."

Auron would retrieve the sack of ryo from Shun, and nod in confirmation to his final comment. Though he had been a wanderer, it was nice to feel welcomed in places. He'd offer a slight wave, and then turn in place and exit the sensory room. Now that it was the dead of night, he'd make his way back to his room within the inn and retire for the night. As he told Shun, Auron was well aware of the fact that the end of his time in this place had been approaching. His next sights would be set on Sunagakure, welcome to missing ninja. But at least he could sleep easier with his pockets deeper.
