The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Mon Jun 27, 2022 11:17 pm
Today was the day.

The time was finally upon the champions of Hoshigakure.

Every few years, soldiers of the military who have demonstrated arcane levels of prowess and prestige in the arts of both shinobi and knight are selected to participate in the highly esteemed Nova Exams. Acting as both a cultural festival and gathering - memorializing the most talented and hardworking individuals in Hoshigakure -  the preconception of the Exams is simply a time where shinobi can showcase their talents to their family, loved ones, clan, and lord while the crowd goes absolutely absurd with their praises is a prepossession that is entirely false. There is only one truth in the Nova Exams: it is just as cutthroat and brutal as the Chuunin Exams. The purpose of institutionalized examinations is to cull the herd and select the most talented individuals of a whole. Many examinations carry rewards as incentives to perform better to get the most accurate information on each individual; the Chuunin Exam for example gave out the highly coveted rank of Chuunin to Genin who perform particularly well. Because of this, there is no doubt that the hearts and ideals of those with inferior talents and achievements in these examinations will be crushed without remorse. After all, examinations were nothing more than microcosms of society - the strong will thrive and the weak will be relentlessly crushed until they learn how to mimic the strong, or die trying to.  The Nova Exam was nothing more than a rose-tinted version of the Chuunin Exams.

The hopes and dreams of many champions will be crushed today.

Enishi Kurosawa immediately understood this, as he faced the same realization during the Chuunin Exams of last year, but at that time, he was inexperienced and arrogant, vowing and wholeheartedly believing that he had the power to crush everyone in his path before he was unceremoniously cut down by the Arrow of Crushing Hope that was Gin Akimichi. The Hawk of Hoshigakure was indeed foolish, but he wasn't the type of fool to make the same mistake twice. This time, his vow wasn't simply a desire to win, it was a reality. Because such was a reality, the normally obsessive and nervous understudy when it came to high-stakes examinations was in a serene mood as the door which barricaded his path to the entrance of the exam slid open with a cranking racket. Prisms of light erupted from the pitch-black room as the Sage advanced towards the light without regret, and into the lion's den.

The roars and cheers coming from the crowd towards the boy who ranked second in the Chuunin Exams last year were drowned out by the dull silence that filled the mind of the Wraith. At one point in his life, he would have felt nauseous and utterly frightened of this many people watching his every move, but he was only focused on one thing at this moment. Like a single-edged blade that would scourge its adversary, Enishi's azure optics would raze the area before the understudy would come to the conclusion that his opponent had not arrived yet. Well, if that's the case, then he would analyze the battlefield. The arena was a 50m by 50m circular area, equivalent to 50m in diameter and surrounded by 15m high walls at the edges for spectators to enjoy the battles. Each arena was different, from the one the understudy was currently residing in was close to a swamp in nature, with trails of mud running through the area and a large forested area starting at the edges and spreading out 10m, leaving an open spot in the center with a 15m radius which is covered by tall grass reaching up to 2 meters tall. Essentially, the forested areas covered the first 10m of the arena from the edges to the center, and the remaining 15m radius would be the open space. However, since the open space is rather circular, it would be more accurate to say that the open space covered by tall grass is 30m in size once one advances past the forested area. Within a few moments, the Wraith understood that much. The tall grass which was two meters in height would prove to be quite a nuisance however to actually see his opponent, so Enishi would take it upon himself to trim the grass down to half a meter in height with the use of his Wakizashi ideally before his opponent would arrive. Regarding his equipment, the Wraith adorned his usual combat outfit (explained more in stat page.) His Ninja Tool Sealing Bands were worn just above his gloves on his inner right and left forearms, The Sage's Wakizashi with a Paralysis Seal Tag wrapped around the blade would be attached to his left hip with a black sheath which can be easily unsheathed for utility or combat use. On his right hip held a minuscule Basic Scroll infused with the Basic Sealing Technique, which stored his Naginata. Hiramakerei was also stored within but Enishi REALLY didn't want to use it unless he had to...because the amount of explaining he'd have to do to the Kage and Council of Red would be insane. Just below his scroll on his right hip held a Ninja Pouch with a variety of extra tools that his Sealing Bands cannot normally hold. Of course, under his clothes would be his invisible Nise armor that is tethered to his skin similar to a skin suit. His seals would also be in the correct areas.

After judging the area and trimming the grass down to acceptable levels, the Sage, since he entered from the west side of the arena, would be on the western part of the open space. The position he settled on would be an equal distance parallel and away from the center as well as an equal distance parallel and away from the end of the forested area. For mathematical integrity, Enishi was about seven and a half meters away from both sections, ice blue eyes facing towards the other side of the arena, awaiting his opponent.

"Waiting....always...sucks..." He dryly murmured.

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Tue Jun 28, 2022 9:12 pm
Fu's Stats:

The day had finally come. Today was the beginning of the Nova Tournament, an opportunity for the most battle hardened and strategic shinobi to engage in fierce, competitive battle in front of their entire village. Although the contestants each had their own reason for participating, the end goal was common- to obtain a white cloak and to be forever immortalized by ascending into the ranks Hoshigakure’s most prestigious group of shinobi, the Nova corp.

The tournament bracket was now set, and the matchups finalized. For the first round, each contestant would simultaneously engage in one-on-one combat across multiple arenas- the winners advancing to the next round. Fu’s match would take place in arena number five, against Chuunin, Enishi Kurosawa, also known as, “The Wraith”. Considering Fu’s short tenure in Hoshigakure, she was not familiar with Enishi, but that didn’t matter much to her. Following the recently attempted attack on the village, she had vowed to herself that she would train harder and fight with every ounce of strength in her body to prove to herself, and her village, what she was capable of- regardless of who her opponent was. Now that the time had come, this was Fu’s chance to show her new village that she belonged there and was not just an outsider. She was also eager to prove to Ayato that his decision to let her join his village, would not be in vain. Regardless of the outcome, she was determined to put on a show.

Crowds of villagers and shinobi alike were now beginning to descend upon the five different arenas with eagerness and glee, in anticipation to see the best of the best compete. In the stands on the Eastern side of the arena, beyond the 15M wall that divided the combat zone from the audience, an anomaly would occur. A large brown bear, walking on his hind legs like a human, would begin making his way through the rambunctious crowd to take a seat nearest the arena’s East entrance. The bear placed a small electric radio on the wall and then took a seat, causing the bench underneath him to groan with agony from the immense weight now being exerted onto it. The scene would cause the crowd to quiet as they all staired in disbelief at the woodland monster who was now raising his right paw, and with a single, long claw, would press the play button on the radio.

Music erupted from the radio, flooding the stadium, and causing the crowd to near the edges of their seats in anticipation of what was to come. The scorching Sun hung high above the East side of the arena, and below Archie, was a pitch-dark tunnel that represented the entrance of the final contestant. A few moments passed after the music started and then a figure would break through the threshold of the dark tunnel and into the scarce light that struggled to penetrate the forest’ canopy.

Fu passed through the 10 meters of forest that surrounded the perimeter of the arena and as she broke through the tree line, the Sun’s light would illuminate her. A girl emerged, standing at 157cm tall with short, light blue colored hair and a sun kissed, tan complexion. She was wearing tight, black leggings and a purple, Hoshigakure colored cloak over a black, fitted top that concealed her arsenal of weapons and items. Fu left her eccentric personality at home today and now wore a look of fierce determination. Now out in the open, she would continue to proceed forward, now taking in her surroundings and finally her opponent. She would travel until she too was 7.5 meters from the center of the arena, putting exactly 15 meters of space between Enishi and her.  Now that both participants have arrived, Archie would kill the music from the radio and another blanket of silence would fall over the stadium as the crowd eagerly waited for the match to begin.

Fu adjusted her shoulders causing the purple cloak to fall to the floor revealing two katanas, one strapped to her back and the other to her left hip. “I don’t believe we have met, my name is Fu.” She would say, in a controlled, but polite manner. A smile now crept across her face. It was not an ordinary smile one might wear on their birthday or on a special occasion. No- it was the smile that only those who truly lived to fight could produce- those who only found true happiness and purpose during the heat of battle with everything on the line. “What do you say, shall we both surpass our limits? Right here, right now?”

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Thu Jun 30, 2022 10:29 pm
Having successfully trimmed the height of the grass in the open space from two meters tall to half a meter tall with the use of his trusty sidearm, the Wraith would swiftly return to his original position before his opponent arrived. With a listless sigh, he would continue to wait for his adversary to enter the fray. "The Monster Hunter, eh?" Her name was Fu, a recently inducted shinobi of Hoshigakure...and an even more recent was her promoted to the rank of Jounin. Not too long ago was "The City Blessed by the Stars" under the direct siege of numerous radicals hailing from multiple villages forming a coalition aiming to strike down the nation. Even if it wasn't successful in the end, it still epitomized a grim reminder to all shinobi that lived in Hoshigakure - that being - peace was never guaranteed. As long as Hoshigakure proposed, threats - with increasing power each time they conglomerate after being struck down an infinite amount of times - would inevitably form, and it would be up to the shinobi of the village to protect not only the citizens but the honor and integrity of Hoshigakure as well. Fu, despite not even being a native of Hoshigakure, embodied the ideal of a staunch and steadfast protector of Hoshigakure and was promptly rewarded for her courage on the battlefield against foreign warmongers, evidenced by her swift promotion to the Jounin rank. Yes, a noble effort to risk one's life for a village they just joined, and people she just met could never be ignored and go unrewarded. Even in a world as unfair as this, at times, justice can be upheld. The rumors of the foreign Monster Hunter that fought and bled in the battle against the terrorists wouldn't pass by the Wraith's ear. In fact, Enishi bore the utmost respect for the young woman. The young Sage wasn't able to participate in the defensive effort due to the struggle aligning with his recovery from his recent surgery. Internally cursing himself at his inadequacy for not being available when the village needed shinobi the most, the Sage of Pleiades fully understood the determination, intrepidity, and integrity necessary to lay one's life out for the sake of a greater cause, which is why he could do nothing but carry the girl in high regards, even if they have never physically met.

Intimately reflecting on the circumstances that led him to this very point, it wouldn't be long before the understudy would be broken out of his momentary stupor, as...a fucking bear would sit on the arena stands while taking out a radio...out of its ass it seemed like before pressing the play button as an admittedly catchy song would play. "Yeah...this Genjutsu must be hitting different." Nevertheless, the understudy's stupefied expression would be shattered immediately.

The Monster Hunter had entered the fray.

Ocean-blue eyes analyzed the girl from head to toe, including attire thoroughly from his standing, taking note of all that he could visibly see from his current position as she strode from the forest to the open area. At first thought, Enishi was happy to see that he wasn’t the only one that came heavily equipped seeing the weaponry she adorned, but then he later realized that Fu looked...a lot different from what he imagined. Even with her determined expression, the Wraith couldn't bring himself to see her as truly intimidating, probably due to her stature relative to his along with her soft features. No matter, it'd probably wear off soon - it had to. Thankfully, the bear would stop with the foreigner music, leaving silence between Fu and Enishi, both fifteen meters away from each other with neither giving an inclination nor prediction of their next move. Neither intended to break the ice, until...

Fu spoke first.

Introducing oneself and then proposing to the opponent an inciting question in preparation for battle was customary in combat lingo...however, Fu's smile was something that Enishi had never seen on someone... but he resonated fully with. Yes, it was the smile of someone who has danced with death before and derived enjoyment from it; in an instant, the Wraith understood, because he is that type of person. The Sage of Pleiades responded to her question with a polite and serene smile, easily contrasting hers,

"Indeed we haven't. I am Enishi Kurosawa, just your average Chuunin." He would clap his hands in a transparently congratulatory manner as well, "I must say, Fu, I am greatly impressed by your deeds in our most recent crisis. To be able to valiantly battle against powerful adversaries on the battlefield is notable, but performing it with such sangfroid and elegance...I tell you, not many come close to that. I would wish nothing more than to have a battle with someone as brilliant as you. Let's do our best." Suddenly, his grin contorted, shifted, and warped into an expression that bastardized the definition of what a smile should be, mirroring Fu. His eyes, once depthless, calm, and sparkling - were sharp and slit arrows of blue, locking down their target before him and ready to react to the slightest of even twitches.

Because Fu was someone Enishi respected, he would spare no mercy in crushing her.

"I wonder, does the hunter experience fear when the monster bares its fangs?"

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Mon Jul 04, 2022 1:08 am
As Enishi responded, Fu’s battle spirit stirred and swelled within. Any nerves that she had felt up until this moment had now been whisked away and she was teeming with excitement in anticipation of the imminent battle that was to ensue. Fu had amassed an arsenal of new abilities that she had not gotten the chance to display during the Chuunin exams nor the battle she had recently participated in. This was the perfect opportunity for her to test her abilities out, but before she would, she would need to determine that Enishi was worthy of battling Fu at her best. At this level of competition, it was customary for opponents to exchange a glimpse of their power to each other to ensure that both opponents were of equal caliber to avoid anyone getting in over their heads. Enishi’s sudden grin was the signal to Fu that he had accepted her challenge to rise to the occasion- both Hoshigakure shinobi agreeing to not hold back due to what was at stake.

The time for talking was over. At the conclusion of Enishi’s final inquiry, Fu’s right eye would alter into something legendary, taking on a violet hue with a ripple pattern. At the same time her eye transformed, a semi-translucent cloak would envelop Fu’s entire body, extending 1 inch from her in every direction. As the cloak encased her, Fu would display to Enishi, along with those in attendance, her power. Her chakra would present itself as an image of a demon’s head, which was comprised of the same colors as her cloak and floated above her head, bearing down on her opponent, illustrating to him, her killer intent.

“I am fear.” Fu would say in response to his question, her primal instincts ready to react and her purple eye watching her opponent carefully for any indication of movement or response to her display of power.

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Mon Jul 04, 2022 7:06 pm
The Wraith's grin remained unabashedly unwavering as he concluded his final words towards his opponent, gazing at her with genuine interest. It was so clearly etched in her facial expression that she was someone to wear her emotions on her sleeves, giving insight into how she approached combat. Straightforward yet tenacious; Enishi preferred to fight people like her, using direct skill and prowess to win battles instead of deception and manipulation. Of course, the Sage wasn't naive to believe that deception didn't have its place in battles - as that could be considered a skill as well, especially as a shinobi - but in a fight such as this where two kindred spirits would clash in an intense battle...there was no need to fight without honor. So with respect to Fu's challenge, the understudy wouldn't dare to pull any facades. The stronger and more skilled combatant would win, that - Enishi would promise not only to his adversary but to himself as well.

The instant the Sage of Pleiades concluded his words, his eyes would bare witness to something he had never seen before. In his life, he had seen and heard of countless dojutsu before; the Sharingan, the Byakugan, the Hoshigakure native Kenseigan, and even the Uchugan from the nearly exterminated Kamigawa Clan. All of the dojutsu he had seen and heard of exhibited specific effects and iconic appearances that could easily be identified. But this...what in the hell? The woman's right eye would rapidly dilate and gain a rippling appearance with a violet hue encasing it, similar to some sort of rhythmic pattern meant to confuse the mind of those who had the misfortune of glancing upon it. Was this some sort of jutsu? If so, it must be some sort of esoteric technique inaccessible to most since there were no handseals needed to activate it? An unknown clan, or an unknown jutsu? Either way, it was something that Enishi needed to pay attention to, and the fact that it was only her right eye that gained such a bizarre appearance confused the Sage even more. Simultaneously, a semi-translucent aura with a rainbow-like hue encased the woman an inch surrounding her, appearing to be some sort of protective barrier. An effect resulting from that eye, or was it another technique entirely? Regardless of whatever the origin was, she activated it with no handseals was something that concerned Enishi more. So obviously, this woman was highly skilled and must know her fair share of unknown techniques and possibly an underresearched dojutsu; that was the safest thing to conclude.

All of these things didn't stop the Sage's grin, not in the slightest. However, her next move did - an assault at the understudy's spirit. Fu would present the full extent of her chakra to all of those currently in attendance, shrouding and forming as a demon's head that looked down at all before it. Undoubtedly, this was her killer instinct at full display, ready to ensnare and destroy Enishi's soul. At the pure display of raw power and the intent to murder, a single tear of sweat dripped down his visage. If the Sage of Pleiades desired to advance to the next round, this is who he would have defeat.

In response, the understudy demonstrated a portion of his chakra in return, just enough to not be consumed by the overwhelming killing intent infecting the area. It was akin to being naked in a snowstorm if one didn't mentally defend themselves from another's desire to psychologically damage them. Expelling it like a mighty storm, an aura of ocean blue surrounded the Sage revealing his intent not only to defeat, it was something much simpler but far more visceral.

Crush.

That single command warped Enishi's chakra, resembling the apex predator of the sky that roamed above the oceans akin to a deity - the hawk. Wings outstretched and head fully manifested, floating above Enishi's head were the intangible head and wings of the hawk shrouded in ocean blue chakra, staring down the demon's head conjured by Fu. The desire to kill and the desire to crush would meet eye to eye, both unable to overpower each other, even if the desire to kill had more raw power behind it. This stalemate defended Enishi from Fu's killing intent. The woman uttered three words as her chakra was fully realized. "I see. Teach me what 'fear' is." Enishi's riposte, beckoning his opponent to go on the offensive, watching her next moves with raptorial precision, ready to react at the slightest of actions.

The Hawk of Hoshigakure once felt that he could never be intimidated by Fu.

That could certainly change.

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Tue Jul 05, 2022 9:36 pm
The small droplet of sweat that formed on Enishi’s face in response to her display of power did not escape her keen gaze. Currently, the emotion of disappointment was beginning to intrude at the idea that her opponent was not strong enough to be taken seriously. This feeling was soon relinquished when Enish would respond to her by producing his own display of power- expelling his chakra in the image of a mighty storm and taking on an aura of ocean blue surrounding him. The storm then morphed into the image of a powerful hawk, with outstretched wings and a ferocious demeanor- now holdings its own against Fu’s demon head- declaring that both opponents were of equal caliber.  Fu was pleased. A worthy opponent to test her limits against was before her and he had shown her that he had no intentions of backing down. At the conclusion of his final words, Fu would respond, “Prepare yourself, here I come!”

Now that the battle was official on, Fu would decide to offer Enishi something that would allow Fu to gauge her opponent. There was no fun in starting the match off by reducing the entire stadium and its’ audience to rubble and ash. Instead, her initiating action to the battle beginning would be one that was subtle, but effective. In fact, most of the audience would most likely not acknowledge it, but those with keen eyesight, and her opponent, sure would. With her eyes locked on her target, Fu’s left hand, which had been resting by her side up until this point, would simply turn over so that her palm was facing her opponent and then a black, metallic rod would generate from the center of her palm and fire once it had grown 5 inches in length. The receiver would be targeted directly at Enishi’s chest and would travel a direct line towards its destination until it potentially arrived at, and then into, his chest.

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Wed Jul 06, 2022 10:10 pm
The Wraith watched as Fu verbally responded to his sharp riposte, smirking as if he was drunk with mirth. It appeared that the time for talking had ran its course and now, the time for blades to be drawn and swords to be crossed would shortly begin. The ginger would take note of the sudden change in atmosphere - once suffocating with killing intent and psychological pressure was now levied with the blazing storm of resolve. The tension, searingly palpable was conjured by neither combatant wishing to lose sight of one or another nor wanting to have the first move. But soon, that tension would shatter instantly. Fu answered Enishi's mental strike with her own assault. And with that, the battle began.

Enishi's eyes narrowed, hiding his emotion of glee and relief at not being the one to initiate the first move, yeah - that was quite the reassurance as first moves were a philosophical trap so to speak. It essentially forces someone to show their hand and allows the other to counterattack and plan ahead first; if a first move is done without caution and proper planning, then it can indirectly lead to one's adversary gaining an advantage instead. In this case, the understudy wanted his opponent to reveal her hand as quickly and as foolishly as possible and when he saw a sufficient amount of her abilities...he would end it.

The Wraith raptorially scrutinized the woman's left hand, which had been resting by her left side at that point would rapidly gather chakra as the palm turned over towards her adversary. Suddenly, a rod seemingly constructed out of black shrapnel was generated out of thin air, extending from Fu's hand. But before the Sage could even utter a word, the rod would shoot out from the center of the sapphire-haired woman's hand. Like an assault rifle, it was fired out at blazingly fast speeds, and its destination? Enishi's chest. It was at times like these that raw instinct prevailed. Doubtful that Nise would be able to defend himself from the high-speed projectile, Enishi would simply sidestep a foot to his own left at his utmost speed the moment after the rod fully fired out of her hand to ensure that Fu wouldn't change its direction at the last second. Fifteen meters was enough to dodge a rather fast projectile. This would allow the rod to just "Whiz!" past his right whenever it arrived, successfully dodging her attack. However, the Sage wouldn't wait for her attack to just fly by him to respond with his moves, his counteroffensive would promptly commence.

While sidestepping to his left, the auburn-haired Chuunin would spring into action, using the Basic Sealing Technique with no need of handseals to retrieve three items from the Ninja Sealing Band on his left forearm. Two of them being a Kunai attached to a Proximity Explosive Tag and the last item being a Kunai attached with an odd tag, the tag being the Flash Paper but the way it was tagged indicated it to be no different than a regular Explosive Tag. Nigh instantly, the items would droop down and be gripped intensely by Enishi's left hand, each Kunai handle being gripped through the webs of Enishi's left hand. By the time retrieval and loading was finished, the understudy would have already finished his sidestep - escaping the rod whenever it whizzed past him - and realigning his line of sight with Fu's before infusing them with a burst of chakra. It only took a moment to aim, and...

Fire.

Almost as if he was being controlled by the strings of a masterful puppeteer, the Sage of Pleiades would flick his left hand towards Fu, moving it in such a gifted manner so all three Kunai would be launched at an angle that he desired towards the sapphire-haired woman. All bearing an uneven elevation relative to each other yet each Kunai would be equally spaced out across half a meter in horizontal distance, their target was all the same. The Kunai on the left of the Sage, due to being on the far left of Enishi's projectile barrage, was about half a meter off of hitting Fu. But what was more alarming was that a Kunai was aimed at a downwards hyperspecific angle, so that the farther it traveled towards Fu, the closer it would reach the ground. The intended destination of the Kunai would be half a meter to the right of Fu and half a meter behind her. Essentially, it was a Kunai fired at a downwards angle that would land and be punctured deep into the ground half a meter to the right and behind the woman, blending in with the half-a-meter tall grass which would be difficult to notice. The Kunai on the far right of Enishi would mirror the angle at which the Kunai on the far left was fired - half a meter off, downwards angle, and would land half a meter to the left of Fu and half a meter behind the woman, blending in with the grass. Both Kunai were tethered with the Proximity Explosive Tag. The Kunai thrown towards the middle, that being the center of Fu in the projectile barrage would be aimed at a straight angle directly at her torso - a Flash Paper being tethered to it. All bladed weapons were thrown at the same high speeds at the same time, and while the far left and far right Kunai weren't supposed to deal "direct" damage to Fu, the middle one if the woman didn't react properly to it would leave a devastating wound, piercing her torso. The far left and far right Kunais also had the potential to cut off her movement.

The deftness of the throw and the quick dodge of her Black Receiver could possibly leave Fu in a frenzy, but the Wraith remained as calm as ever. Watching his opponent throughout and after his actions in order to ensure that he could react properly to new stimuli and plan accordingly.

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Thu Jul 07, 2022 8:18 pm
Fu’s opponent was not one to sit and take a receiver to the chest. He was present and aware of the minute details that could cost him the battle, therefor, he correctly assessed the presence of the hostile projectile fired at him and would respond by taking a sidestep to his left- out of the projectiles intended path. This counter measure did not come as a surprise to Fu but was expected. She did not wholly believe that she could truly end the battle with such an obvious and straight forward attack. The idea was to get her opponent moving and reacting to her, creating openings and opportunities for the kunoichi to follow up with and capitalize on- as well as to gather more information on her opponent.

Fu’s eyes, not focused on her projectile’s path, but on her opponent, would capture everything as if it were in slow motion. Her Rinnegan possessed all the abilities of her Mangekyou Sharingan, granting her extreme clarity of movement- essentially precognition. As Enishi side-stepped, the summoning of three kunai would not escape her gaze, and in response to his summoning of equipment, Fu would immediately decide to activate her Sage Mode. Now that her abilities were invigorated, Fu would respond to the potential threat with a repulsive, yet offensive, technique of her own.

At the moment Enishi would release his three kunai in unison, a blast of pure, and invisible, concussive force would radiate from Fu in all directions without any visible indication of its activation. The speed and raw power of the force would encroach on Enishi, launching his released kunai back towards him once they would come into contact with the force, and if he did not find a way to evade the sudden response, he too would find himself caught up in the force and now being pushed backwards towards the perimeter of the arena. The single blast of force would travel until it's maximum range, destroying anything that was not strong enough to withstand the blast, and moving the remnants of said affected things towards the perimeter of the arena, and away from Fu.

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Sun Jul 10, 2022 8:44 am
Launching the three Kunai in unison shortly after his sidestep, Enishi would notice that Fu didn't seem to react at all to that movement. Was she concentrating to activate a new technique, or perhaps she had cold feet and her body wasn't keeping up with her mind? Regardless of what that sudden lapse in stasis was, all of the understudy's predictions would be thrown right out the window. Without any form of telegraphing, a sudden wave of repulsive force would be expelled from Fu's body. Despite being invisible due to acting as a wave of concussive force, the Wraith widened his eyes as he saw clearly that the half-a-meter tall grass and a good portion of the muddy dirt on the ground were being uprooted before him, gliding across the ground as any sort of structural integrity they had subsurface was ripped away by the force that Fu unleashed. As a byproduct of the force Fu unleashed, this gave Enishi at least some sort of inclination that something was coming towards him at an alarming rate with the power to shred through the environment. 'Another technique activated without handseals...'  He analyzed internally.

Understanding that his Kunai probably weren't going to be able to break through the concussive wave approaching him, Enishi immediately switched plans. With a single breath as the Kunai helplessly flew through the air, an aura of red and violet would encase the Wraith an inch off his body including his skin-tight Nise armor. Activated without the use of handseals would be Iron Wall - a useful technique for armors that helped in defending against larger-than-self attacks. Concurrently, activated without the use of handseals would be Grand Chariot - one of the understudy's more experimental techniques that enhanced the user's capabilities in exchange for minor recoil damage. Both techniques were activated instantly and simultaneously in response to identifying the concussive force. However, Enishi wouldn't stop there. Taking the opportunity to mount a counteroffensive while Fu was attacking him, the Sage formed four, then six handseals with fluidity,

The moment the repulsive wave and Kunai clashed which would redirect the Kunai back at Enishi, that would be the moment that his jutsu activated. 3.1m behind the woman, a speck of mud would appear before suddenly expanding into a giant swamp in all directions, overtaking and consuming all forms of uprooted grass and dirt within range, encroaching the land like a plague. Enhanced by Ninjutsu Amplifier, the swamp did not discriminate in what it consumed, including Fu who was only 3.1m behind the destruction which would occur at one of her blind spots and had no inclination of activation since she would be preoccupied with using her jutsu. The swamp would have a maximum radius of 16m chosen by Enishi, stopping about 2.1m before him but it would consume the rest of the arena 2.1m in front of him, causing all of the trees and environmental obstacles in that area to sink, freeing up plenty of space now that the trees on the eastern side of the arena were gone once it reached its maximum size.

This wouldn't stop the encroaching wave however, arriving at Enishi before the Kunai could. Gritting his teeth and bracing for impact, the Wraith would find himself consumed by the tide - watching as the grass and dirt were uprooted around him. The sound of the force was deafening as well once he was inside of it, but Enishi had the appropriate defensives. Grand Chariot acted first, defending the Sage from debilitating effects which would result in him not being sent flying and standing his ground; Iron Wall would lower the power of the force so no physical damage would be done to the auburn-haired Chuunin. Thus, he would be unscathed from the attack. That being said, the force would continue onward, shredding through the rest of the arena and even destroying the western side of the trees, meaning that all trees and environmental objects in the area were destroyed and all parts of the 50m diameter arena were now fightable and barren space. The Kunai would make their way to Enishi as well and upon a mental command, the tags attached to them would not detonate, quickly falling to the ground upon being unable to pierce Nise. 'So this attack can also redirect projectiles... At this point, her techniques have to be connected to that eye or rainbow barrier of hers, because there's no way that so many jutsu can be activated without handseals unless they're some sort of high-speed Taijutsu or Bukijutsu...' Fu had an assortment of unknown abilities, so Enishi had to tread carefully.

The swamp conjured by the Sage of Pleiades was a good way to judge the woman's abilities since the barrier surrounding her wouldn't be of any use when the risk was drowning - not inflicting actual damage. Watching carefully to see her response to his countermeasures, Enishi would be vigilant.

The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi Empty Re: The Nova Exams: Fu vs Enishi

Due to Shinra Tensei being a singular blast of energy, it did not require Fu's undivided attention to retain the jutsu. Instead, she would observe how her opponent would react and then would react accordingly herself. Fu's opponent picked up on the subtle details of her technique which affected the battlefield's environment, indicating to her opponent that something nasty was heading straight towards him, despite his inability to see it.

Enishi would activate a technique that would cover his body, similar to her own Yata Mirror, indicating to Fu that he was utilizing a type of jutsu or armor to brace himself for the impact of her technique. Then, with her Rinnegan, she would pick up on the pre-cognitive motions of his hands- signaling to Fu that Enishi was planning to form hand seals as they moved into position. As Enishi's hands came together to form his first hand seal, so would Fu's, as she performed a string of 12 hand seals in unison with her opponent, both completing their hand seals at the same time due to the slight advantage in speed that she had over him. Upon completing her final hand seal, the ground would rumble in response to the ground beneath her feet ripping apart and a large wooden head would begin emerging underneath her, along with a plethora of wooden fingertips also breaking the earth’s surface directly behind the 10-diameter head she was now standing at the center of as it rose from the ground.

At the same time her golem would begin rising from the earth, Fu would pick up on a point of chakra that had now begin to form behind her, 3.1M away, within her 5M passive chakra sensory. A swamp would begin to form from said point, but it would not be strong enough to hinder her golem's creation and would simply form around the giant like water as it grew and spread according to its user. Fu decided to neglect turning her attention to the sudden spawning behind her, and instead, insisted on focusing on her opponent as she rose above the ground level, and out of harm’s way of the swamp behind her, keeping a close eye on her opponent.

The golem proceeded to rise from its initial spawning point and after it had risen 5M, five smaller heads that were positioned on the front of the main head would emerge from the mud and dirt. Upon the smaller heads surfacing, Fu would activate one of her wooden golems mechanics, and the smaller, middle head (third), would open its mouth and launch a beam of pure wind chakra towards Enishi. Following the initial blast of wind chakra, the wooden golem would then proceed to grow from its original spawning point, raising Fu even higher into the air and the cluster of the golem’s arms surfacing from the mud/ground behind the head.
