Learning and Relearning [Solo, Training]
Fri Jun 10, 2022 3:19 am
Dracoso took his first steps into the classroom and looked around at the several other students who had filed in ahead of him. His smile slightly faltered as he realized that he was possibly twice the age of many of his classmates. Many of them made sure to make him aware of this as they would spit chakra infused wads of pencil and crayon at him. He shook his head and took in a deep breath and recomposed himself. he looked at the board for the instructions and began to read about basic jutsus and hand gestures. He wrote many notes as the class went on and kept track of everything the teacher said, slower filling out his notebook. By the end of class...he realized he could barely understand any of what was said.
Feeding someone medicine with instructions made complete sense to him. Following tracks with his eyes or checking for someone's pulse was a basic practice he knew. Summoning the energy and focus within his body to make animals appear? It felt like sorcery in his head. How was he going to make fire erupt from his palms? Where in the world was he going to whirlwinds that wouldn't destroy a town? Why would he want to make puppets attack people?! He was overwhelmed with all the new possibilities.
Each night, he would go home and make the hand gestures and focus on the steps the teacher gave him. At first, it felt like he was just molding dumplings without the dough. Hours of practiced passed and he would struggle over and over. The sun peeked in through the windows and, with bags under his eyes, Dracoso threw up his hands in frustration and thought to himself I am never going to get this right!
His mind jumped back to the image of a girl standing in front of him holding a kunai. Her eyes filled with terror and tears. He took a deep breath and shook himself softly. he lifted his hands once more and took that feeling deep inside himself. He focused his effort, his feeling through every fiber of his being and fed it into his hands. He felt a sliver of energy as he formed it and a small wave of cool air flowed off his fingertips. The shiver that ran through him was chilling as his eyes opened wide and stared at where the energy had passed.
With a renewed smile, he knew what his next steps would be.
On the next time he entered class, even his younger classmates couldn't break his confidence as he volunteered to try out the new jutsu they would be practicing that day. A clone jutsu, where you focus your chakra to form a projection of yourself to distract or delay a foe. At least that is what it is supposed to be. Dracoso's clone began to form in front of the class....and stopped halfway. A pair of legs stood before the class, as it wasn't good for much besides that. The legs were bright yellow and both had left feet. Dracoso tried to focus and add more chakra, tried to continue the clone creation, but only succeeded in extending the legs so they stood 5 feet tall and nearly fell over.
The teacher clapped his hands and Dracoso dismissed the clone legs and returned to his seat. His classmates jeered at him and laughed, but Dracoso felt exhilaration. He was making such big steps after only a few days of practice. He felt like digging down into his emotions, his desires and drive, helped him to draw this power forward to begin forming a change.
The days seemed to pass like minutes in Dracoso's mind and he felt like each new lesson would slide in more quickly than the last. He began to learn about the transformation jutsu and how he could reshape himself to all different forms. He turned himself into dogs and monkeys and even into a panther once. He wondered more and more what kind of forms he could use to really benefit his abilities.
Of course, the opportunity came at the most interesting of times. Class had just been let out and mainly of the kids in the class had come to tolerate Dracoso, if not like him since he would share lots of tips and thoughts on using jutsus. They seemed to learn a bit from him as well and even the teacher had commented on how he seemed to be a good influence on them. The kids and Dracoso would relax out back in the play area and practice their jutsus. They would goof around and even see if they could do some of the jutsus they heard about, like little fireballs and summoning birds. Most of their attempts never worked, except one child who made a rat run up into their hair.
As one of the children was trying to summon an animal with all their might, a soft shuffling came from nearby. The bushes seemed to shift and a long shadow slid out towards them. It came on very slowly at first, but seemed to pick up speed and glinted in the light. Dracoso glanced over and saw this strange shape moving toward them and felt a spike of dread slide down his spine. His feet carried him right into the path between them and he only had a moment to react. In a split-second decision, the only thing he could imagine dealing with this threat would be exactly what it was. A snake.
The snake, roughly 1 meter in length, stopped in front of where Dracoso had stood. In his place stood a 2-meter call snake, staring with shimmering eyes, only a slightly brighter shade of grey than the smaller snake. It looked up, somewhat tensed now in reaction to this sudden change. it moved from one side to the other, trying to get a clear sight on the children, but Dracoso shifted to block it each time. It slowly lowered itself down again to the ground and slid back into the undergrowth nearby.
With a soft exhale, Dracoso turned back to check on the children, only to find them cowered several feet away from him. He tilted his head in confused and moved towards the children, where they all moved away just as quickly. He exhaled and went to put his hands up....but they never appeared. He realized that he was still transformed as the large snake. He released the jutsu and felt the chakra rush out of him as he went to comfort the children. The children seemed to move farther away rapidly from him when he realized that his vision had narrowed and the ground came up at him.
With a start, Dracoso awoke in the medical office of the school where his whole body seemed to be itching. The staff member came over and told him to lay back and rest. In his haste to protect the children, he had overexerted himself and spent far too much of his chakra in one go sustaining the form. He would need to rest for the time being and recover. His teacher visited him after getting an account of the events from the teacher and gave Dracoso his appreciation for protecting them. They discussed the different ranks for each type of jutsu and how it seemed that Dracoso attempted to cast a higher level than they had been practicing. While he had gotten lucky this time, it would be better for him to be more careful next time.
Dracoso nodded and apologized for causing trouble. The teacher smiled and shook his head fondly and stated that Dracoso had such a passion for learning. he asked Dracoso if he knew that there was a library that had been built for busy minds like his and Dracoso shook his head. The teacher told the staff member to let Dracoso know of the library's location once he was feeling better and left without another word.
Dracoso laid back and ran the events through his mind since the night, or morning, since he first pulled chakra out of himself. He wondered if he was going too quickly and was putting himself at unnecessary risk by trying so hard without patience. He felt like he had already fallen behind so many others, yet he knew he was learning so quickly. It was like a pair of snakes were fighting inside his own chest right now, trying to decide the direction to go. The memories of Fuku flittered through his mind and the sights of the children scared of his form. How proud the teacher seemed to be of his progress and just how helpless he was to save the girl. Those damn legs that just kept haunting his dreams.
He sat up, frustrated as his inability to make a decision and turned to get out of bed...only for the staff member to clear his throat nearby. A syringe was being held up for Dracoso to see as the staff member continued his work, not even facing him. Dracoso immediately slid back under the covers and laid back to rest. He knew he needed to continue learning and exploring, but only when he was ready.
A few hours passed and the late afternoon was setting on. Dracoso awoke from his nap to see that he was alone. He slid off the bed and hunched forward slightly, realizing that he would have to wait until the next day to visit the library. He had wanted to visit the library in the past, but only ninja and academy students seemed to be allowed there. At least that is what one of his friends had told him. He had forgotten all about it in the excitement of joining the academy. He shuffled towards the door, somewhat deflated of energy, and noticed a sheet of paper on the staff member's desk. The paper had a hand-drawn map that looked to lead right to the library. Dracoso picked it up with a smile and renewed vigor as he turned to the door before a sparkle caught his eye.
The syringe had been laying directly under the map. With wide eyes, Dracoso backed away, feeling a bit of that vigor tempered by fear, and slipped out of the room.
The library was much larger than Dracoso had imagined it to be. It seemed almost to reach up to the skies like a hand proclaiming its existence to the world. Each step seemed to echo softly in the silence of the hallways. Several individuals quietly flipped pages or searched along the shelves, gathering the information they needed. The largest question that sat on Dracoso's mind was the hardest one.
Where to start now?
He approached what appeared to be a large round desk with a woman sitting behind it. She glanced up and introduced herself as the head library assistant and asked what he might be looking for. Dracoso simply responded, "The first book?" She exhaled slowly and asked him if he meant the first book ever written, as that is probably long gone. Did he mean the book written by the first Kage? Most of that information would be outdated and primarily historical. Maybe the first book listed in their organization? That would just give him a listing of all the general titles provided at the library.
Dracoso's head was spinning at all of these different places to start and simply put his hands up to stop her. "How about a book on medicine?" He asked her. She raised an eyebrow and asked him if he wanted a book about medicines you can take, medical practices to engage in, methods to make people take their medicine, what medicine is provided in our village, and so on. Dracoso put his hands up again and just said, "what is the most basic of basic medical books you have?"
She let out another slow exhale and pulled out a small organization file and directed Dracoso down one of the connecting hallways and onto the second floor in the far back corner. There, he found shelves filled with medical texts and information with titles covering everything from how bodies work to why not to use kunai to clean out certain wounds. The first title he felt confident with simply read 'The Basics of the Medical Ninja.' He pulled it down and slipped over to a seat nearby, opening the book to the first pages.
The book outlined many common illnesses and injuries which can befall ninja and civilians in their times and descriptions of the specific treatments to give to people. It described the need for bandaging cuts and using salves to tend to irritated skin and bruises. While the book would seem to drag on for most, Dracoso took in every word like a man dying of thirst who finds water. As he finished the first book, he pulled down another with the title 'When to Seal a Wound and When to Heal a wound.' The book explained applying chakra in the healing effort and determining if a wound is better off healing due to ointments or chakra.
Each book only added more to his curiosity. He dove deeper and deeper into the tomes of knowledge, finding some concepts too complex to grasp for the time being, but others feeding him information. He realized that the more he could arm himself with knowledge, the more that he could prepare for what was to come. It also allowed him to prevent misunderstandings and accidents like what happened to him earlier that day. With the unique help of the assistant, he was able to find books that went into even more detail on what he had learned in class.
It even detailed in bold text to not try to use jutsus at higher ranks unless properly trained.
With a blush and soft grunt of frustration, Dracoso read on through the books with the same passion as in his classes, taking in knowledge and information wherever he could. Several hours later, Dracoso had gained a great amount of knowledge. Right alongside a headache. He had lost track of time and the sun was rising by the time he raised his head out of his book. At some point, he had fallen asleep on the book he was reading and had left a small trail of saliva on the page. he wiped it off the best he could and closed the book to put it away.
The clock nearby chimed and Dracoso saw just how late it already was into the day. He slipped out and headed back to school, trying to slip down the now empty hallways as quietly as he could. He stopped outside the classroom door to catch his breath, composing himself the best he could. With a deep breath, he slid the door open and stepped into the classroom. Only to find it empty.
There were no classes today and Dracoso had come in anyways it seemed. He pressed the palm of his hand to his face and sighed deeply before heading home. He spent most of his day catching up on his sleep, only to head back to the library that afternoon. His family was concerned for him and checked in with him before he could leave. He assured them by showing them some of the jutsus he was practicing and letting them know that he wouldn't do this forever.
At the library, he dove into books on many of the basics of chakra use, awareness of each of the senses, and even a book or two talking on the history of his clan. The idea of being in the Yuki clan had always been a point of honor his father spoke of in their history. His father had even told him of stories where their ancestors had frozen waterfalls and shielded villages from great distances, but Dracoso had always thought of them as myths. With all the details written here, he found stories of individuals who had stopped rampaging monsters and beaten great threats across the lands over the village history.
He shook his head to clear it of thoughts of grandeur and focused back on his learning. From Genjutsu to Ninjutsu, Medical to Sensory jutsu, Dracoso tried his best to take in each bit of information with all he had learned before. He ended up reading in each area a little bit each day and then asking his teacher after classes for clarification on terms and concepts to get a better understanding to keep going. At one point, his teacher told him to set aside a day to rest and recover or he would end up back in the medical office. Whether it was willingly or unwillingly. Dracoso studied for a few more days before taking a day off to enjoy some peace.
This equated to bothering everyone he knew about all the things he had learned. When he realized that many of his old friends didn't really grasp many of the concepts, or didn't care to, he decided to make friends with some of the individuals at the library. Many ignored him as he tried to speak softly in the library and ended up moving away from him over time. He noticed how disengaged they were and, with a bit of a weight on his mind, he headed out into the village. Dracoso wandered the village, going over what he had learned again and again in his mind. Without paying attention, he bumped into someone in the street.
Dracoso looked up at the large man in front of him who seemed to naturally tower over him. Dracoso's first reaction was to step back and prepare to run if things got bad, but the man smiled. He simply commented that Dracoso seemed so wrapped up in his thoughts that the world had disappeared. With those words, it was as if a veil was lifted. He had been learning and researching so passionately and taking in so much information, he had almost forgotten the purpose behind it. He wanted to take apart how the world worked so he could rebuild it for himself and the people around him with his own hands.
He was gaining the knowledge, but he was forgetting to apply what he had learned. He needed more opportunities to apply this information and to do so at a paced rate. He knew Genin had missions they could take on, but for the time being, he would simply assist civilians with basic tasks until he could build up his knowledge. Perhaps his teacher could help point him in the right direction.
The man was staring at Dracoso at this point and chuckled softly. Dracoso looked up and gave an embarrassed smile out of reaction and thanks the man. He apologized for running into him and told him that if he ever needed help, to feel free to ask. The man chuckled again and nodded to him. Dracoso smiled as a friend of his that was watching nearby walked up and told him that he had just walked into one of the Jounin of the village. Dracoso looked at the back of the man walking away from him, then back to his friend. Whether it was luck or just the kindness of a stranger, Dracoso felt like he had just dodged a raging viper.
With how things were going so far, things seemed to be heading in the right direction.

Hi there a few things. Getting an E-rank jutsu to a D-rank cost the difference so D-rank is 500 and E-rank is 250
If you want the D-rank version of technique you don't know you pay 500 wc to get it and learn the ranks below as slotless techniques.
If it's a technique that you already know the e-rank vesion you just need to play the difference. In this case it would be 250.
The discount does apply to these so the difference would be reduced by 50% to 125. A drank that you didn't know would be 250 loke you've already done. Make thise adjustments and let me know on here or discord.
