Patrol training[solo]

mission:

Yusuke had been doing pretty much nothing but cleaning missions, but it seemed like things were looking up for him. They finally assigned him to do a training mission. A patrol training mission to learn the ins and outs of what that takes. It seemed like a rite of passage for Genin to learn how to patrol the mean, and sandy streets of sunagakure. He wanted to be on time for a change, so he had dressed himself and got to headquarters early. The training was to take place first in an academy classroom and then outside. The training would be brief as there was not much to simply keeping an eye out for trouble. 

He arrived to a host of young genin standing around in a classroom. They were chatting and looking around waiting for the teacher to show up. Eventually they did. The man was tall and looked angry. You lot! What are you doing stand at attention! Yusuke rushed into line with the other 10 or so genin standing there. He held his arms to his side. 

Better! You’ll be getting a briefing from me, and then we will go outside to talk about physical procedure! Then you’ll be dismissed! The man barked the agenda to the young genin before standing behind a desk and using a kunai to point at a map of Sunagakure. 

The major districts of the village are as follows: The Grove, The Spire, The New and Old Academy, The Hospital, The Blood works, and The Training Grounds! The village is surrounded by a large dome that protects us from the elements and outsiders! Outside our gates is the vast desert inhabited by many surrounding tribes. The man went through the list of locations quickly making sure to point to each vista when he announced it. He also mentioned the village's immediate surroundings. He seemed very practiced. Yusuke wondered why this was being told to them they had all likely never left the village. Knowing the way around should be simple even for genin. Guess we all have to start at the lowest common denominator… He quickly reconciled with himself.

After the instructor pointed out the basics he talked about routes There are always shinobi on patrol in Sunagakure! When a route is completed the required number of times, you hand off your route to the next shinobi! You must inform them of anything you saw that was out of the ordinary! The man’s barking that hand seemed like an endless stream had come to a halt. We will now go outside to go over the proper way to do patrols!

The man walked over to the doorway and commanded attention. Form up! He announced. Yusuke did as he was told he was about the third shinobi in line as the matched outside into a nearby small training area he remembered from his academy days.

Alright you guys will walk in pairs after I give you the example to demonstrate that you understand how to do a patrol! He stood at the front of the line, which put his feet on a drawn line in the densely packed sand. Do as I do! The man walked forward and swiveled his head from side to side. As he scanned the area, he walked forward at a steady pace. He made sure to even pass a gaze upward and downward. 

To Yusuke it looked like he took this very seriously. He understood why security was important, but the man’s movements were rigid and weird. Yusuke would prefer a more relaxed approach. 

Now, the first pair demonstrate! Make sure to alternate and look behind you as well! The man barked as he crossed his arms and removed a clipboard from his back. 

Yusuke watched as the first pair walked. They looked a bit nervous, but they did decent enough. Yusuke went next with a young girl about his age. She had short light brown hair and the typical red suna face paint making little circles on her cheek. Her headband was worn around her neck and you could tell by the sweat rolling down it, she was nervous. Don’t worry little miss you’ve got this! Just keep your head to the side and behind occasionally look up or down. Yusuke whispered just loud enough for her to hear. He made sure not to look too far behind him, trusting his back to his fellow sunanin. His swivel handled the frontal cone and her’s, the cone towards the back. Once they got to the end of the field the teacher in charge said Adequate you’re free to go! 

Yusuke saluted and marched off. Well easy enough I guess… Nice job miss! I hope we’ll be in a group patrol together later He said with a wink. The young genin girl's face turned a bright red. Y-yeah me too! She bowed and moved away quickly looking at her friends who seemed to giggle at her. 

Quiet genin! Yusuke heard the large man bark. That was his cue to leave. Yusuke headed off in the opposite direction. I wonder what I should have for lunch…
