Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu] Empty Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu]

Fri Jan 21, 2022 4:37 am
Their arrival to the gates of the yet unknown village was less than as to be hoped for, but the man had said they were an up and comer in the shinobi world. The two toned gaze of the former Kazekage would take in the sight - little more than a wooden stockade with a few lookout towers - were what met her scrutinizing gaze. She would glance to her side to ensure Arantima had made the journey safely but it was just a remnant of her old self peeking through, as her second in the clan she expected nothing less than what she gave.

The first thing aside from the sights she took in was the weather change, even with the weather dome in Sunagakure the change in temperature was something worth noting. As a Kyuketsuki cold and extreme heat weren’t real hindrances on the system since they weren’t exactly alive - though they felt cold and heat it held none of the same drawbacks as it would for others. So even in her outfit - a red halter top with a band across the sternum, black gloves that went up to her bicep and a pair of hotpants held up by a belt - under it was a pair of thigh high stockings and knee high boots laced up tight - the chill had no real effect. The long tendrils of her hair settled into a slightly disheveled array across her face as the winds of the Sand held no ruling here in the calm chill of the Rice.

We truly are in a new world Arantima, the chill… it feels nice doesn’t it?”, Her eyes would close softly as she took in the environment, completely opposite the one she had lived in for years. “I had almost forgot what cold felt like-” she would suddenly cut herself off as the heartbeat of an approaching person would accompany the sense of chakra at the edge of her mind. Settling into a mixture of Ohta and Kyuketsuki she would project a calm demeanor with her hands clasped in front of her as she awaited their introductions.

Arantima was not used to the cold but his Kyukestuki blood allowed him to stave off any of the side effects it might normally have with someone who actually required a beating heart to live. He looked at Mizu as she spoke and nodded to her. He was looking the opposite direction of Mizu as the person who was approaching and then their heartbeat would register in his ears. His gaze was as cold and biting as the air was around them, penetrating deeply as if it were a blade designed to steal into someones soul.

He made an intimidating presence in contrast to Mizuki's, He wore all black armor and a Face mask that covered the lower half of his face, leaving only his blood red peircing gaze and white hair to identify him from. His arms were adorned with Blades in the form of clawed gauntlets that had blades running up the majority of the length of his arms and made each finger tip an impressive blade. Likewise sheathed in each thigh were Twin Swords joined by a short length of hangng wire behind his back. Along his ribs were likewise sheathed several Kunai knives.

He Watched the one/ones who were approaching with caution, and perhaps due to the fact that his arms themselves were deadly weapons he did not even hover a hand near the kunai or the handles of his blades. He reached up however and ran one of his bladed hands through his own hair to even it out from its travel windswept nature. He cut not a hair on his own head nor did he slice his own skin at all.. It was a show that he wore these blades so often they were like extensions of himself.

He did not speak however, Looking to Mizu to handle all of the pleasantries.

Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu] Empty Re: Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu]

Though her wrinkled face and gray hair might have suggested otherwise, Matsune Kei's heart beat with the tenacity of those thirty years her junior. Old age, in her opinion, came cheap; one needed only to do nothing interesting in life for the days to roll into weeks, weeks into years, and years into decades. Then, as if by some arcane act, one's newfound old age garnered the younger generation's respect and deference, all for living an altogether unremarkable life. No, in the shinobi world age meant very little.

Perhaps then this was why Matsune made her involvement in the day-to-day life of Tanbogakure's village life a particular point of pride. She neither hid behind an administrative desk nor consigned herself to retirement as many her age had long since done. Rather, each day, rain or shine, she stood watch over her home's gates, serving as the first of many friendly faces foreign merchant and shinobi alike met upon first entering the up-and-coming settlement. One had only a set time on earth, and she reasoned, it might as well be interesting.

Indeed, today, with the bite of winter strong in the air, promised to be just that: interesting. She had already admitted a full caravan of pilgrims bound for Hoshigakure, a wayward shinobi from the Land of Rain, and a group of merchants chatting about the latest crash in the salted fish market. By all counts, the day could have already been considered busy. Though, the arrival of two more foreign chakra signatures at the edge of her consciousness ensured that today's shift was far from over.

Standing within the shelter of what amounted to ramshackle custom's booth and wrapped in earth-toned attire, Tanbogakure's oldest gate guard gazed out at the village's newest arrivals with the kind eyes old age provided. Separated from all passersby by a glass partition, she often regretted allowing the Komekage to talk her into having such a barrier installed. Though, from time to time when facing down strangers of questionable origin, she didn't mind the extra layer of insulation, superficial though it may be.

"Hello, dears," she tilted her head back to make better use of the glasses that had slipped down her nose. "How might I help you today?"

What a strange pair. One appeared more metal than man and the other, with mismatched irises of red and white, sent an unnatural chill down Matsune's spine. The whole situation felt off, though it would not show through her gentle smile. After all, alongside age, appearances meant very little in a world where one could alter them on a whim, who was she to judge?

Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu] Empty Re: Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu]

In the thrum of the outward silence the pair would watch the elderly woman step into their combined range of hearing - if she had been on better alert she might have sensed the woman's’ chakra first but she had been overtaken by the change in scenery and exhilaration of the unknown. At her side her blood relative gave off all the imposing energy that was needed so she was able to lay low in her demeanor and approach the situation with as much genuine emotion as she wanted. Looking at the pair they looked roughly the same age and if one had to wager a guess she was not the one who was in charge, but she was the one who chose to step forward to greet the woman who stood inside the barely held together booth - with only a thin sheet of glass separating her from the onslaught of travelers.

The mismatched eyes would flick around the edges of the construction for a moment before resting on the woman's kind face - wrinkled by the years the two unwittingly shared - and settled on the eyes that sat just above the glasses that rested lower on the bridge of her nose. As she came to a stop a foot from the glass she bowed her head slightly in respect before addressing the Tanbokagure representative in a sign of respect. As her face came back up from the bow her expression matched the speakers’ - a gentle smile and soft tone. “Hello, my brother and I were looking to enter the village for an extended period of time, maybe even set up a shop given permits are allowed in this country for such things.” A breathy laugh would leave her as she tried to slow herself down - seeing as she was getting ahead of herself.

“Forgive me, I was told about this village while away on a mission by a man named Asahi. My name is Mizuki Kyuketsuki and this is my brother Arantima Kyuketsuki.” As she spoke his name she would turn her face from the woman and indicate him as though he wasn’t an obvious sight. Mizuki came across far more approachable than her counterpart - which internally she couldn’t help but see the irony of it - the most dangerous of the pair was Mizuki herself… but it seemed Ohta was still kicking around in her mind.

Though the heartbeat slamming into her skull was more than enough a reminder that her true nature was only a flick of a mood away from taking control. There was no cause for fear or apprehension though, there was no threat in sight and this should go as smooth as any other village entrance had before. Taking the lead a bit she would rest her hands on the small shelf that stuck out in front of the glass, relaxing her posture a bit to show she was of no threat. “If there is any other information I could give? Paperwork to fill out?” The head tilt at the end of her sentence was subtle but earnest curiosity. “Asahi spoke highly enough of this place and I am eager to see what all his fuss was about.”

The boy that looked at the older woman was not tense is the slightest at her approach.. He just looked her over long and hard before looking back to Mizuki as she spoke, nodding along with her statements. There was a slight smile to his features when he heard her refer to him as Brother but he did not make it obvious how happy it made him feel to be called that finally.  He did however slip his hand into a secret pocket under her chest plate and pulled free a small red pill that he pulled up his face mask a small bit before popping the pill into his mouth and continuing to listen.

He looked out past the Woman and tilted his head, side to side to stretch a bit as he rolled his shoulders as well. Normally this might be a motion that meant someone was about to get ready for some confrontation but instead this kid merely clapped his hands together and his Mask and Claws were gone in a small dust devil that surrounded his arms and face a moment.  He Fixed his hair again with his own bare hands which now sported 4 inch long nails that were sharpened to dagger like points.

He May not be the most dangerous of the pair.. But that might just depend on the moment and situation.  In this proximity this Younger kid just oozed an aura of a familiarity with death that was un-natural for someone so young. "I am here to stay with my sister. If there is anything you need to know please let us know. I have a Tea shop and Ninja tool shop awaiting word to migrate over all the way from our home." He didnt sound annoyed or rushed.. Just very matter of fact if not a bit tired, had he been wearing that armor the entire journey?

Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu] Empty Re: Heat to Chill [Village Entrance - Arantima/Mizu]

At the mention of Asahi Yagami, Matsune's brow furrowed in something toeing the line between disapproval and pity. Even those in the village not nearly as well-versed in the latest gossip as the gate guard knew the name of the Komekage's cousin. The man had a questionable reputation as an unabashed hedonist who—according to a friend of a friend—spoke to thin air in hopes of communicating with the dead. More importantly, however, the elderly woman did not recall the blonde-haired man having been away from the village for any appreciable amount of time, and she made it her business to know such things.

"Paperwork, indeed, please give me a moment," Matsune rifled through the cabinet to her left, though an observant eye would see that she dutifully kept Arantima in her blurred peripheral vision. "Unfortunately, I won't be able to issue either a long-term visa or a business permit here. For that, you'll need to speak with our leader; I'm sure your friend, Asahi, can acquaint the two of you. That said, if each of you could fill these out..."

She slid two sheets of paper beneath the partition along with two pens.

"...I can issue you a visitor visa, which should suffice in the interim."

If the names Mizuki and Arantima carried any renown it was lost on Matsune. She never quite had the stomach for international affairs. After all, she had more than enough to pay attention to at home. Far better, she liked to think, to allow the titans of the world to fumble about on their own—keeping current with such happenings became too much of a chore as they rarely impacted the out-of-the-way settlement of Tanbogakure in its far-flung corner of the world.

"Please let me know if you have any questions."

She smiled the same gentle smile as before.

The woman’s expression was curious, open disapproval mixed with something close to pity when she mentioned her contacts name. Though she made no comment on the matter and proceeded forward with their paperwork - leaning away while still keeping her brother in her sights. After a moment she would have two papers in front of her with two pens. Turning to Arantima she would wave him over to fill out his paperwork alongside her.

“A visitor visa would be perfect thank you.”, she would take the pen in her pale hand and tap the end against the paper in thought as she scanned its contents, fully reading it before beginning to fill it out.

Filling it out seemed easy enough but it felt like it wiped so much of who she was away from her, but it was easier this way - there would be time to explain it all clearly to the leader when she was able to request a meeting with them. Passing the paper back she would wait for any further instruction, an idle smile on her face as she took another look around at the entry to the village. Honestly it reminded her of some 40 years ago, passing through small towns and the beginnings of some of the major villages before they got their footholds again.

Arantima Looked across the distance as Mizu called him over and nodded as he Stepped into line beside but just slightly behind Mizu. He Took his copy of the paper work and the pen and tapped his lip with the butt of the pen before he tucked the pen behind his ear and swiftly formed two quick seals with his free hand and touched a finger to the paper. As he did so the paper started to fill itself over and he made sure to keep his eyes scanning over the page to ensure that he wasnt making any mistakes, smirking to himself bemusedly the whole few seconds it takes him to finish his paperwork as each row was written simultaneously.

Was he being flashy? Yes. Was he also ticked as sin at himself for doing so? Hell yes. Did he care at all what anyone watching him thought of his use of a B rank jutsu to fill out a useless form? No. He Handed the form back, not to the Old woman, but to Mizu so she could look it over and give her OK for it to be given to the woman or if he needed to cross out any mistakes and refill them with the pen behind his ear.

"Thank you," she accepted Mizuki's completed document and filed it away in the cabinet to her left before returning the glass partition. "Once you're done with that there..."

She nodded to the paper the quieter of the two visitors had handed off to his sister.

"...I'll just need to get a picture of you both for our records," she shrugged as if to apologize for the trouble. "Then I can issue each of you a temporary ID card."

If Mizuki did indeed hand off the second visa application, Matsune would file it away in much the same way as the first and return with camera in hand. Then, if neither individual objected, the gate guard would go through the documentation process. Snapping a headshot, signing off on the ID cards, and making the appropriate administrative notes. The whole thing was, unfortunately, a necessary evil in a fully functioning village—letting people in and out of the gates without documentation would surely lead to chaos.

"Perfect, here you are," she slid two ID cards beneath the partition. "These will give you free access to everything in Tanbogakure's residential district, please keep them on you at all times. Beyond that, is there anything else I can help you two with?"

After returning her paper and Arantima’s a moment after hers she would nod along to the woman's’ words and allow her photo to be taken - receiving her ID with a slight bow to her head. “Thank you very much for your assistance, I hope to see you around the village during our stay, that should be all though.” They had come with no luggage as Mizuki had plenty of money to replace anything they would need in the new village.

“Come now Arantima, we need to find a realtor and see if there are any homes for us to take residence in.” With that she would tuck the new ID in her side pocket and stride forward to enter the village of Tanbogakure for the first time.
