A New Leaf [Letter]

The young Shinkou sat in the office of the Hokage for some time staring at the parchment in front of him as he thought of what to say. This was a time to fix the broken wheel of the cycle his home was in...and if it could happen without the bloodshed of his people then he would take it. Putting the pen to the paper he would begin to write the letter addressed to the Mizukage:

" Good evening when this letter finds its way to your office. My name is Ishimaru Shinkou and I have taken the mantle as the Ninth Hokage, taking place of my predecessor Ita Uchiha. For too long has my home been under the boot and heel of Kiri and while the current flow of things would lead to war and bloodshed, I seek another alternative to save the lives of both my village and your own. To that point I would like to meet with you personally, and a guard of your choice, in a neutral area close to both villages so that we can discuss the future and moving forward. We do not have to be allies but we also do not have to be enemies chained to the bloody decisions of our predecessors,

- Ishimaru, Ninth Hokage"
The letter would be attached to a raven and sent out of the window toward the land of water, where he would await either a proposal or a denial.

Murata studies the letter for a long while, imagining the person on the other side of it. Is it an opportunity for a fresh start, or another trick?

Eventually, pen goes to paper. In the early hours of dawn, the raven returns to Konohagakure, the scroll it bears ferried to the Hokage's office.

To the Ninth Hokage,

I hope the title is treating you well and that things have been peaceful in Konohagakure. I agree that the current situation is unsustainable and I hope that we can find a mutually agreeable path forward.

I have made arrangements in the Land of Tea to meet with the Kazekage. If you would like, you may journey there so you may meet with us both - I'm sure you have much to discuss with Sunagakure as well given recent tumultuous times.

Ishimaru stared at the raven for a second as he held the letter in his hand. Things had been alright so far... But now to see what this meeting was about. Taking the pen to the paper he would begin to reply:

" The title is only a means to begin to care and repair my home. While I am happy to be the Hokage, i would be much happier if my home was happy. This meeting does sound like a great opportunity to heal the wounds of the past. Although we will not forget the subjugation and the wounds of the past, we can however rebuild the bridge to a healthy relationship. Please let me know when the meeting shall be and I shall come."

Murata promptly issues a letter to inform the Kazekage of this development. With her approval of the adjustment to their plans, Murata will reply to Ishimaru with the details of their meeting time and place in the Land of Tea.
