A day off Working for the Family

Travin awoke to the sound of his alarm clock buzzing in his ear. Rolling over he slammed a fist down on top of the thing breaking it. Getting up he walked over to the bathroom and handled his business before hopping in the shower to think about what was needed to be done for the day. The scalding hot water running down his body always seemed to help him think for some reason. He went through the many things that he still needed to get done before he goes on his next big mission. He knew that he needed to get stronger, and he had been practicing with the space-time arts lately and found that he was getting pretty strong with it. He would need to get better with his snake summons as well knowing that the more he worked with the race of snakes the more that they would trust him and his judgment and send help when he called for it. He also needed to work more on his genjutsu as well. He was already one of the best in the clan with genjutsu and had unlocked the rare form of his genjutsu that didn’t even have a name due to how rare it was.
Getting out of the shower Travin decided that it was time to return to the snakes of Ryuchi caves home to continue his training in space-time. Drying off he walked back out of his bathroom and stepped into his walk-in closet pulling out his clothes for the day and laying them down on his king-size bed. Walking over and opening the door one of the butlers was standing on the second floor outside of his door waiting for Travin to open it. Travin had made it clear that none of them was allowed in his room due to the experiments and things that he performs in there. “Tell the cooks to prepare breakfast I’ll be down in a few minutes after dressing,” he told the man.
The butler looked back at Travin gave a nod before speaking. “Your parents are in the dining hall would like to eat their sir.” Travin thought about it for a second before deciding that he couldn’t deal with them right now they were too much of a distraction, and told the man to bring his food up to the library he would eat there. With another nod, the butler turned and left leaving Travin standing in the doorway. He quickly shut the door back and walked back in to finish getting ready. Once he was dressed he opened the door to find Charles standing outside of it. “Your father and mother would like for you to accompany them in the dining hall good sir” his tone telling Travin all that he needed to know. His father and mother would not take no for an answer. With a sigh, Travin agreed and followed Charles down to the dining hall. He knew that it had to be something important or his parents would be bothering him since they had pretty much had nothing to do with him. From the point that he decided to become a shinobi instead of taking on the family business.
Sitting down at the table his pancakes laid out in front of him. He noticed that his father was in his fine business suit and his mother was also in a nice dress. “What’s going on we having company over or something today,” Travin asked wanting to know what was breaking the norm. For the past few months, they had both been eating breakfast in their PJs and leaving Travin to eat wherever he felt like. His parents looked back at each other before turning to Travin.
“We need you to help your father today. He had a business deal to go to and it could turn ugly” his mother told Travin before looking over to his father to finish giving the details. His father just looked at Travin letting him know without words that he would tell him about it later when they are in motion. To which Travin just nodded and finished eating in the awkward silence that always followed one of these discussions. Travin knew what kind of business his father was into and most of the time everything went down without a hitch but every now and then someone somewhere would get the bright idea that they could rob his family and get away with it. Travin had grown up learning what happened to people that tried to steal from his family and oddly enough he never heard of them again, but there was nothing to point that his father or mother had anything to do with it.
Once dinner was over Travin got up and walked over and the door was opened for him and his father to walk outside. Charles was leading the way for the two so that he would be able to open the garage door for them. Travin knew that his dad’s normal driver Bruce would be in the car and waiting to take off once they were in. Travin had always liked Bruce he was one of the many people that worked for his family at their house. Most of them were people that his family had saved from a hard life, and some were paying that debt back while others like Bruce stayed on afterward. Travin knew that his father didn’t always operate everything that made the family money legally but he also knew that it was part of life and most of it was technically not illegal either just looked down on. A lot of the people in the village owed his father for something whether that was saving them from the bank for closing on their homes or helping their children receive the medical treatment they needed.
Today Travin found out that they had gotten word that someone was planning on stealing a shipment of pharmaceuticals as they arrived on board the ship today. His father had already paid and gathered some local mercs aka other low-ranking shinobi of the village in their off time to help secure the shipment on their days off. He wanted Travin to be since with the chunin exams going on in Hoshi he was one of the few chunin left in the village, and his father liked to have at least one chunin or jounin if he could get one to oversee everything. Today that was Travin job, and his first priority was to see who all he had working for him today.
Making the rounds about an hour before the shipment was meant to arrive Travin made notes of everyone that was there. He then took his spot at the top of the building offering him a good look down on everyone at the pier as well as the ocean and his own men for this mission. Once he saw the ship arriving in the distance Travin sent out the call for everyone to be on guard. He had spread his man around the area covering the entrance points as well as the parking spot for the ship on the pier. It seemed as if everything was going to go fine, and was just going to be someone messing with them, or trying to figure out just how strong of a force his family could muster if needed. Either way, it was a little annoying that Travin had been taken from his training and everything was going according to plan.
Once the ship docked and was being unloaded nothing was happening around the area, and travin decided to relax normally if someone was going to try and jack their ship they would have been on the move by now, and he wasn’t able to see anything. With the ship unloaded and the crew gone Travin told his father that he simply had gotten bad intel or someone was just testing the waters for a plan. His father agreeing with him they parted ways and Travin headed back home. With his day ruined by having to set up the whole thing and nothing happening, he wasn’t even able to get a good workout beating on some people.
Not wanting to go stright back home Travin stopped into his favorit dinner for some dinner. Since he had effectively wasted an entire day of training to secure a shipment, not at risk. This was the reason why he didn’t want to join the family business you could never tell what was good intel and what was bad. Forcing you to not only waste money and time but also manpower as well. Sitting down at the dinner Travin started to relax as they brought out his normal meal. He had them add a glass of whiskey as well since his nerves were getting to him after this day. With his meal done and a glass of whiskey now gone he headed back home feeling a lot better about everything than he had before.
