Task: You find yourself in a small town in the middle of nowhere, not large enough to be even a blip on the radar of any of the major villages or anyone of note. The townsfolk are naturally distrusting of outsiders and as such have been nothing but cold to you since your arrival. However, you notice that the local tavern has a poker night, the prize of which is 500 ryo. Do you steal the prize before it starts? Do you play fair and square? Do you simply cheat in order to win? The choice, and the consequences, are yours.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walking through the small towns worn down paths, passing the many dilapidated and uncared for shops and homes - watching as figures drew back curtains or scowled nastily in her direction as they continued to fruitless sweep up dirt that would never come up - was Mizuki. If looks could kill everyone she returned gazes to would have dropped on the spot - the expression she wore was of bored contempt, everyone around her was beneath her so seeing their open hostility towards her was of no concern, what is the opinion of a village rat to a Queen. She was by far the most interesting thing to look at in the village as well, while most were dressed in basic neutral colors aiding to their meaninglessness, Mizu was in her usual fitted bodysuit, many weapons pouches sewn into it by her own hand - her kimono style top tied tightly at her waist, the color of fresh blood. Which was the same as the hue that now surrounded her pupils tinging her soft violet eyes, the pair had been causally examining her surroundings as she walked when they landed on a sign sitting outside of a tavern that was in much better condition than she expected - the sign written in chalk advertised for a poker night being held that night- Prize money 500.

Mizu laughed quietly to herself, It’s like they are begging to be taken for all they are worth. As a missing nin most would assume she would cheat her way through the game or outright steal the pot and make her get away - but Mizuki was an honestly excellent poker player. Not only was the game itself something she was good at playing it was the reading of her competition that made her excel. Walking into the tavern she would nonchalantly check out the patrons inside, finally making it to the bar and ordering some house Sake, taking the glass and leaning against the bar facing the room, she would take a sip and set her eyes on the largest table. Sitting in the middle of the room was a small mishmash of men - two on the more rugged and burly end of the spectrum and the other better dressed as she was, with an air of arrogance exuding off of him - given the way he was examining the other two. Downing the remainder of her drink she would walk over to the table, not bothering to pay the bartender whom was left hanging, his hand still waiting for the payment she wasn’t planning on giving. Pulling out the chair in between to the two men and the loner she would place herself neatly in her newly claimed seat, resting one elbow on the table and slamming her free hand down on the table - bringing the attention of the card dealer and the men to her- “Time to begin.”

The dealer had jumped into action and dealt out their cards, the men to her right grumbling in irritation- locals for sure… they probably know each other, might even have a deal going with the tavern… - the man to her left was merely side-eyeing her, though her abrupt entrance had notably ruffled his cool arrogant demeanor from before.

-----------------------------------------------
A few rounds had transpired and Mizu was easily in the lead, the close second being the lone stranger on her left, and the two on her right were basically there for show now, betting all of their money that at this point, is she was correct, they owed more money than Mizu and the other man had earned. Finally, with a small smirk, the man to her left pushed all of his chips forward - the two on her right beginning their shouts of outrage and throwing their cards down on the table - obviously the man had hoped she too would fall to the show and pay more attention to the sum of money he was putting up, but he would be gravely mistaken - all Mizu ever did was watch people, and this was one of the instances where she was watching someone make the biggest mistake of their lives - cheating against her. In the moments the man had shoved his chips forward he used his freehand to switch out some of the cards he was holding for some that were tucked into a flesh colored pouch on the underside of his bicep. She honestly had to give him props, it was in a discreet place and with him reaching forward he was putting that pocket in perfect reach of nimble and trained fingers. Pity though, that he chose today to pull this, for it was going to be the last time he ever did. Reaching her own hand into one of the sewn in pockets of her body suit she waited until his hand was laid flat on his now switched out cards, his cocky attitude at its peak when - BAM - her kunai was sunk deep into his index finger and dragged back to her with alarming force, taking all of the fingers on his right hand with it. The blood pooled quickly over the table and the screams issuing from his mouth as he fell out of his chair in anguish were like music to her ears.

She drove the kunai into the table once more, directly in front of the stunned, and frankly queasy, looking card dealer - directly between him and the pile of chips. Reaching over the pile she would grab the money pouch that held the games winnings, easily pocketing them herself before finally addressing the screaming writhing man at her feet, “Bet you won’t cheat at poker again.”, voice dry as the desert she now claimed as her home she stepped over him and exited the tavern without a glance over her shoulder - complete confidence that no one dared to follow her.
