Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari) Empty Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari)

Fri Aug 03, 2018 8:15 pm
Mission Specs:

The night was dark as Amaterasu Akari stalked stealthily down the streets. As opposed to her normal attire, she was wearing black sweatpants and a black hoodie- something which disgusted her. But for the sake of her client, it was a cross she had to bear. Her client, a man by the name of Ryoma Fujimoto, wanted her and another ninja to rob the caravan of a rival merchant clan- the Akino. Though she had never met her partner before for this supposed mission, she hoped he was competent. And who knew? If he (or she) was able to prove himself, she could see herself taking them under her wing for a little bit. Whether it was for protection, jutsu tutoring, or even just plain friendship, there was a lot at stake. She wasn't too worried about the caravan, though. The only requirements was that she was not supposed to kill any of the clan members (something which didn't apply to the caravan guards) and she had to make off with all of the supplies. It was a simple enough task- B rank was certainly something she could do, especially with the assistance of another. She yawned slightly, using her Art of the Akari skill to breathe quietly and move without sound. A few minutes later, and she was standing outside the small building. Within it, her client awaited. She made her way towards the back entrance, stepping in a puddle or two as she did so (thank Kami for surface walking) before pausing at the wooden frame. She grabbed the handle, twisted it lightly, and entered without a sound. The room was nearly pitch black, but due to the passive effect of her bloodline, she could see pretty clearly. Amaterasu closed the door gently behind her and flicked on a light switch. Electricity sparked within the socket as she did so, but a flickering light turned on above her head. In five minutes, her client would arrive, and hopefully, her partner would as well. Already, different scenarios were flashing through her head. A strong ronin from the Land of Iron, disgraced by his clan. Another Sand refugee, forced from their homeland by Kumo forces. A traitor of Hoshigakure, wanted for abandoning their homeland... Of course, it was highly unlikely any of these would actually be true. The client, though, was a tall, imposing man she had met previously for other contracts. He had a soft spoken voice, which served to undermine his sheer business acumen and ruthlessness. She'd been hired by him to assassinate business rivals in the past, perform heists on rich families, as well as change the ledgers of countless stores and businesses. She sat down on a folding plastic chair, posture perfectly straight as she had been taught in court, and pinkish orange hair wrapped neatly in a low hanging ponytail. She checked a ticking clock on the wall- it was three minutes before midnight. Her client and partner were going to be arriving soon enough...

Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari) Empty Re: Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari)

Sat Aug 04, 2018 6:51 pm
The crescent moon seemed far out of reach as it’s influenced failed to properly reach the vast lands below, it’s streets lacking sufficient light to truly illuminate the alleyways and pavement, a sign of good faith amongst the many thieves who were on duty tonight. A slum unlike any other, home to outcasts and malicious intent, not a single night passed without some murder or petty theft, the populous perceiving it all as fair play. Such was the life of these parts, a small colony of fugitives and evildoers that banded together in hopes of profit to support their own lifespans, the next day ending up in a back alley mutilated. The sick and old would beg on the streets, working on their craft as they taught the young a thing or two about solidifying their trade, a lone dagger in the right place and their belongings were now your belongings. Any passerby or fool wouldn’t survive in this place for long, trust being a scarce necessity amongst the population as they all understood but one truth: no soul was born pure.

A lone soul would traverse the debris filled streets, intending to rendezvous at a particular location to make contact with his recent contract. Unlike the many who resided within this crab bucket of a town, a few possessed the “expertise” to convert an impossible situation into reality through the usage of Ninja Arts, an atypical skill set too difficult to simply be proficient in, it only made sense they fetched a high price. It humoured the young Uchiha heavily as he skid throughout the night, leaping from the top of buildings to the quake of alleyways, the high degree of contracts he received upon coming to this place, it seemed as if his past wouldn’t be for nought as he was able to benefit from it in the form of currency. He’d make haste towards the building in question which he was to meet this fellow, having come into some trouble earlier as a flock of bandits decided to point their blades towards Kutari in the night, wishing to add to the body count which was evergrowing in these parts, this being the other perk which Kutari humbly embraced: the amount of imbeciles who attacked in the night was ridiculous. It’d be an unlucky night for them as they were made of quick work, succeeding in their task of increasing the body count with their own lives.

Despite the amount of joy and fun he had cutting down a few idiots, he was severely behind his intended schedule and would have to catch up if he wished to make it in due time. Though a sadistic maniac, the yellow eyed teen had a great sense of professionalism, it being due to his role within his facility for so long requiring as such, or simply gaining some personal high of how he carried himself.

Nearing the rendezvous point, his contractor made an emphasis upon which building he needed to enter, this being his first contract with the man he could tell from the start he valued secrecy as much as he was strict with his orders. No killing any members of this particular caravan to soon be robbed, outside of the bodyguards of course. Kutari supposed the man wanted to keep a certain image and kept it at that, though he personally favored the idea of no witnesses. If it weren’t for the amount of money to be paid with this contract, Kutari likely would of steered clear from it. A man built with isolation in mind, the thought of a partner working alongside him was sickening, even more the fact that he had no clue who they were. Fujimoto keeping his cards to his chest, Kutari could only hope they wouldn’t botch the entire plan.

Seeing the lights of the building were on, the brown haired teen would let out a timid sigh. He’d wear his typical garments as his cloaked hoodie was lost in the fight he was apart of earlier, a white t shirt underneath an ornamented black jacket with golden buttons, black pants and shoes to match. The purple scarf wrapped around his waist would dance with the sudden breeze, the orange and black hakama lacking the dance mobility as its neighbor, the weapon pouches with his tools following suit with the hakama. As he grabbed the wooden doorknob with his gloves, the boy opened the door in hopes of seeing Fujimoto, hoping his “partner” chickened out and Kutari would go about this mission alone. As expected of his wants betraying him, he’d settle his eyes coldly upon a girl a few feet away from him, examining a clock on the right wall. The shack looked dingy accompanied by a distant stench, the Uchiha had a mind to knock Fujimoto across his head for inviting him to such a place, though luckily the shack wasn’t entirely messy just lacked any maintenance or sweeping.

The shack almost had enough force to keep his mind off of the girl before him, though the moment he laid eyes upon her he was about ready to leave. She looked to be close to his age, carrying a degree of uptightness thanks to her seated posture which Kutari took as nothing more than arrogance. The boy wasn’t here to make friends, and had no intentions of conversing with acquaintances. His squinting eyes spoke nothing but resentment as he rested on her physique, brows slanted with a focused stare that could tear through the equilibrium of several foes, a few seconds passing before shifting his eyes away as he walked towards a plastic chair opposite of her, plummeting into the seat, his right arm slightly stretched out and bent as his elbow connected with the wooden table between the two partners. Slouching back somewhat into his chair as he took on a lax exterior, he’d look towards the door with a cool glance as he waited for Fujimoto to arrive and the operation to begin, paying little mind to the girl to his right.

If the two allowed the silence to fill the air, Fujimoto would arrive shortly after Kutari, a fact which pleased the Uchiha as recognizing he made it in time. Giving a short introduction of what it is they were to do tonight, Fujimoto would praise Kutari and the girl he was intended to do this contract with as if to give some sort of background upon the others capabilities, a sly attempt to convince the other that they were competent in this contract. Kutari was quite amused about the introduction, though Fujimoto made an effort to keep some details quiet and somewhat vague, it seemed this girl was pretty skilled, a positive to hear her possible arrogance came with a great amount of power. Though Kutari’s references weren’t as numerous as the girls, Kutari rather keep it as such, no need to boast and give away more of who he was or his own past, a shroud of mystery enveloping him as he had little feats made popular to the ear of Fujimoto. From there, Fujimoto would inform the two of the opportunity to be had, its location and the estimated time frame they had before the caravan’s distance becoming too great to retrieve the loot. Though he possessed a tranquil voice pattern, it was obvious he needed this robbery done tonight, and in a timely manner. Kutari would listen with all interest in mind, absorbing all of the information in question as he was surely beginning to head out. His posture shifted to intrigue as he sat up more and listened with a much more engaged expression.

With little to no questions to be had from himself, Kutari would get up and begin to exit the shack, aiming to head towards the caravan’s estimated location as it traveled to it’s destination. Deciding to give his girl a chance knowing she had some power to her, he’d wish to see what all she could do in real time, never one to simply believe a story wholeheartedly. With his smooth tenor voice, a simple two words would slip out loosely, lax in their tone but determined to see for himself what he would hope to be an enjoyable partner.

Let’s go.

From then on, he’d travel with Amaterasu(the name he learned during Fujimoto’s introduction, as his was learned as well) towards the caravan as his emotions flared up, hoping for an exciting night filled with mischief.

Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari) Empty Re: Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari)

Sat Aug 11, 2018 2:44 pm
The door opened slowly, and her eyes were drawn towards the noise. A man clad in a black jacket entered the room. He had brown hair which clung to his head and a purple scarf wrapped around his waist. She couldn't discern the purpose of such an accessory- was it sentimental? She hoped he didn't let it get in the way- of course, Fujimoto wouldn't hire anyone who'd let something as silly as fashion choice botch a potential mission. Though her faith in her partner for this mission was not yet secured, she figured he couldn't be too bad. Her last partner had been horrible- a lecherous fellow who wouldn't stop making passes at the expense of the mission. She felt no regret when he died later that day, impaled by an enemy kunai. That just meant she got double pay for that contract, as well as access to everything the stranger had had on him. This guy at least seemed more serious. Like an arrow flying straight and deadly, he would't stop at anything to reach his goal... Or something like that. Metaphors had never been Amaterasu's strong point. She exhaled through her nose slightly, head tilting down as she contemplated. He looked at her with disdain as she did so. A little bubble of irritation made its way through her chest, but she suppressed it. Making friends or enemies wasn't her goal. No, she needed field experience for what she intended to do. At the end of the day, though, it didn't matter. What he thought of her didn't change the fact that she was stronger than appearances would lead others to believe. Dangerous on the battlefield, perhaps it could serve her well in the upcoming mission. She hummed to herself for a moment, deep in thought. Fujimoto would probably set his attitude straight, but just in case... She whistled to herself, pulling out a kunai slowly enough that he could see it. After placing it above the table, she began to apply force to both the edge and the handle using the Iron Claw technique, careful not to cut herself as she did so. After a few seconds, the kunai would start to bend. Slowly but surely, she managed to reshape it into something that resembled a horseshoe. She flicked it over across the table, and it would stop a few inches from falling off. She wasn't trying to show off here- she just needed to assert that she was to be taken seriously. He sat in the plastic seat across from her, and she met his gaze with one of her own. There would be no expression of arrogance or haughtiness to be found on her features- just a blank face that seemed to be studying his own. If he continued to pay no mind to her at that point, well, that was his problem, not hers. She glanced towards the clock again after satisfied with her analysis as she waited for Fujimoto to enter the building. What was taking him so long?

Around a minute or two later, the door opened once more as her client stepped through the building. He was a lean fellow with soft features- if she were a civilian, it would be hard to imagine him doing anything so under the table as hiring missing ninja to take out his business competitors. He wore a simple blue kimono, one that seemed to be expensive in manufacture, but there was a certain calm confidence which seemed to permeate his very being- it was as if he knew he was in charge, knew that she realized this as well. "Good evening, Amaterasu, Kutari," he spoke. Kutari? That was her partner's name? She wondered if he was thinking the same thing about her own... "I trust your journey went well? No complications?" he continued, standing towards the side of the table. He pulled out a small manila envelope from within the folds of his clothing. She didn't notice it before... How interesting. She supposed it was typical contract details- one, of course, that would be burnt, shredded, or both upon the completion of the mission. She hummed to herself and nodded. She couldn't speak for her partner- Kutari- of course, but she figured that his arrival was unhindered as well. "Good, good. Now, let's get straight to business." he spoke softly, placing the file on the table. "Amaterasu. Expert of Katon ninjutsu with a secondary affinity for Raiton. Your speed is almost unparalleled." he turned towards his left, looking at her partner. "Kutari. Weapons master with an affinity for Suiton. Your skill with a blade is equally impressive." he spoke. She knew what he was trying to do- Fujimoto needed them to work together, and the way to do that was not necessarily to make them friends, but rather to make them trust each other enough that the contract could be carried out unhindered. So, Kutari was a weapons master? He seemed the swordsman type, to be quite honest. She vaguely wondered what he thought of her. If she managed to fight him close range, it wouldn't end well for the young Akari. Then again, she was more of a mid to long range fighter at the moment. He'd have to get close to her to achieve that, and that was no easy feat in and of itself. The combat scenarios rushed through her mind and abruptly halted when Fujimoto continued to speak. "Your target, the Akino, are currently traveling through a jungle path in forest country. They are roughly five hours from this location, headed east north east. I want their caravan completely emptied of all valuables- ryo, valuable merchandise, whatever you manage to find. The catch is," he paused, eyeing the two of them. "The catch is that you cannot kill anyone. If word reaches me that you have failed in this regard, I will have your reputations dragged through the mud in a heartbeat. Do I make myself clear?" she nodded. She had taken contacts like this in the past. She could only assume Kutari has as well, or else he wouldn't be here for such a high risk mission. "Good. I expect to see you again within the next few days. Do not fail me." At that, Kutari stood up and left the room, with herself following quickly afterwards. She had an idea of what to do... After all, she had access to something that many didn't.

"Let's go," he told her, and she nodded. Next, she bit her thumb hard enough to draw blood before forming five hand seals- Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, and Ram. Next, she slammed her palm onto the ground. Her chakra pulsed slightly before it drained, siphoning off into the summon she was attempting. Not a moment later, a puff of smoke arose from the ground and a large, white bird was standing before the two. He reached six feet tall from the top of his head, and from the tip of his beak to the tip of his tail, was around eighteen feet. Normally, that would be rather long, but... He was a peacock. His long train rustled slightly. tilting his head as he investigated the man next to her.

"Kikumaru," she began in greeting, nodding her head. "I would like you to fly ahead on the north road. Try and spot a merchant caravan bearing this crest-" at this point, she showed a ripped piece of cloth bearing the merchant clan's symbol. "-and preferably without being spotted. Can you do that?" He nodded in response before stretching his wings.

"Of course," he replied. His voice was a deep baritone, soft and warm in timbre. "Is there anything else you require?" she shook her head. "Then I will be off." he stretched his wings to their maximum span of eighteen feet before taking a running leap into the air. After a few moments, he was around a hundred or so meters off the ground, which rose to around a hundred fifty. Then he started to follow the trail she had described, occasionally circling back to check up on the pair. She turned to Kutari with the intent to study his expression. What would his reaction be? Eventually, however, she spoke up.

"Let's follow a little ways behind him. He'll alert us if he sees anything ahead." she spoke, rubbing her bit thumb. The wound stung a little, but it was quickly clotting over as the little droplets of blood dried on her hand. She would follow on the trail behind the summoned peacock, keeping her pace quick enough to make travel easier but not so fast that she would be worn out by the time they reached the caravan. She vaguely wondered what Kutari was doing- what he was thinking. He was cold and quiet, but there was something about him that interested her. What exactly went on in that head of his? She shook her head to clear her thoughts and continued onwards.

Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari) Empty Re: Taking Care of Business (P, Kutari)

Sat Sep 29, 2018 2:42 pm
[OOC: Same as before, player left the site and has no intentions of returning, gave her a month and some change to see if would possibly return but gotta keep it moving. Allowed me full reign of character and can provide screenshots. Since I can't complete the mission since my partner is gone/lost the muse to finish it especially on my own, decided to turn it into normal topic that had a semi cool story ending with contractor betrayal.]

The mission was supposed to go as intended by the trio, steal the goods and make sure to take no lives in the extraction. As their contractor waited behind, Kutari and Amaterasu would travel towards the location in relative silence, Kutari simply disinterested in making communication even if Amaterasu felt inclined to. He’d only speak if crucial to the mission, which at the point in time wasn’t necessary whatsoever. They’d travel in the night as the girls summon kept to the skies to guide them along the trip.

As they neared the caravans, it was all meant to go easy, fighting may occur but the two as as a collaborative force were surely a formidable match to whatever guards laid around the area. This would be until a sudden attack would happen from behind that Kutari was able to notice and warn Amaterasu beforehand if she hadn’t moved at that point, having to create distant from the destruction as they now had to retreat from their cover. A band of enemies soon swarmed them, all seeming to be gruesomely strong then what the report initially anticipated, their wild eyes and calculated attacks suggesting there was something more than what meets the eye when it came to this contracts intent. The caravan would continue along as Kutari caught a whiff of the guards around the caravan looking over and laughing out of spite, as if expecting the calamity to spark sooner or later.

It seemed from the situation that the two Missing Ninja had been played for fools, walking straight into a trap devised by their contractor to get them killed, or maybe it was only Amaterasu that was their target at the time as Kutari knew little of the man he accepted the contract from. This was an unexpected change in course, and of course he expected no pay to come from even seizing the caravan, if anything happened to be contained inside, however there was little room to think of a logical explanation of why this all was taking place, only to fight and escape as their numbers were much more superior to the duos. Kutari could feel his heart racing at the excitement of a change of course and engaging battle, though as he looked towards Amaterasu it seemed as if she was becoming feeble, looking closer he could clearly see blood trickling down her body as a ferocious wound was now present, likely getting caught in the sneak attack from earlier.

He was unable to tell if she could fight, though before long as the band of bandits attacked the two it was clear she stood no chance, either the wound being too deep or her own combative skills not able to take on this amount of individuals, while Kutari was able to keep his own in the midst of battle. Trying to decipher a way to properly escape on his own, wondering if it’d be best to leave Amaterasu behind as they seemed more focused on her rather then him, he’d hear a great screech from above as a white bird came swooping down to collect the two criminals, being Amaterasu’s summon from before catching on to what was happening. As the bird collected the two, they traveled far away from the scene at hand, landing back near the town they preoccupied hours beforehand, night still being present as they took shelter in a nearby safehouse.

Looking over the wound Amaterasu had, it was difficult to truly do anything as he had no experience working to heal others, in fact being more adept at causing damage. It was clear she obtained a lethal blow, and in fact was a miracle she was even alive at this point, though it didn’t take long before she’d draw her last breath. The summon dissipating as she was unable to hold together her chakra any longer to keep the bird around, they had a damaging farewell as nothing could be done, the area they lived in not being the most supportive to wounded individuals. An unfortunate event taking place that night, as Amaterasu would curse herself to Kutari as she utilized her dying words to speak with him, or more so ranting at how foolish she regarding the situation that had happened earlier, Kutari catching that faint sense of arrogance from before as her words echoed out at her own frivolous power at the time when it was most important, speaking about her blood’s prowess and how it could of easily noticed that attack if she wasn’t so preoccupied. He could tell this was the aimless talking of one nearing death, recapping upon their life and attempting to latch onto it by the form of speech, though he had little to say and simply stared at her, having one clear goal in mind after he would respect her dying words. Again, talking about gold and her eyes, cursing her own foolishness and the inconsistencies at the current point in time which failed her, her own skill slacking and her eyes unable to account for it all, he recalled the girl having a golden iris as they fought earlier though had little clue what it all meant, though was sure he’d get little to no answers from her.

As she spoke her last breath, all she could do was curse it all and be discontent in how she was going out, a shame as Kutari wished he could of one day fought the girl and see how powerful she truly was, a sneak attack unable to prove much in a battle. As she closed her eyes, Kutari was considering instantly how he could kill Fujimoto, surely still near the earlier safehouse as word likely couldn’t have traveled that far that the two escaped. He would have to move quickly however if he wanted to get to him, or else he’d lose his chance. Though this wouldn’t be for Amaterasu, but more so the man who tried to get him killed as well, hoping to distribute a hellish amount of pain before his drawing breath. Sealing Amaterasu’s body in a corpse storage scroll before placing it within his storage displacement, he’d leave the household that wasn’t truly anybodies, hoping to hide the death of the girl from any people who may know Fujimoto, making him aware that if word got out they escaped there would be no confirmation the two were dead. The house possibly being occupied soon as well, having access to the girl’s body he rather not leave such a thing around.

Kutari would travel to the last safehouse he was at with Amaterasu and Fujimoto, intending to take care of the traitor that caused such discord in the night, sure that killing the man would be little issue as he betrayed the two first. He would head towards the place, and sure enough he was already gone, though as he walked around the abandoned area, he began to notice a few people walking oddly towards another location, acting shifty eyed and all, though expected of such a location it was good to check out. Before long, Kutari caught eye of Fujimoto, and through his own cunning expertise and espionage background, he killed the few guards that were with Fujimoto and had him locked in a room. The older fellow pleaded that it wasn’t him and he was in no part involved, though after a few hours of experimental torture he became a different person, letting out the hatred and disgust he had for Amaterasu all up until that time, attempting to capitalize on a deal with someone that wasn’t particularly a fan of her if she got killed. Kutari would laugh in his face, telling the fool that she never died to begin with, and was actually out clearing the rest of the guards around, to which he became enraged at all his plans tumbling down. Looking half of the broken man he was once before, Kutari believed it be time he ended it all, beating him down before plunging his blade in various parts of the man's body, letting him deal the pain and trauma come over his body, until finally ending the saga at hand. Rising up, he’d go about his business now that the situation was done, irritated that after all of this he got no pay whatsoever, though at least the old man got what he deserved.
