Kumo Ninja had a different perception of forestry than most. Their village was surrounded by Youka’s rot forest. The thing was a monstrosity and absolutely disgusting, so when one found themselves heading back to Kumogakure they cherished the bountiful green more than most, and at this moment that was exactly what Komon and the dozens of wounded behind him seemed to be doing. They knew it would end soon, and that they’d be greeted by the smell of rotting corpses and feces in no time at all.

And sure enough, the leaves began to fade from green to yellow to brown, to nothing. Dead branches and corpses nailed to trees being the only thing that surrounded them.

They were close.
