Arai's Genin Exam

Arai stood in the front of the class room, waiting for the proctor to monitor her exam. Her instructor had warned the class all week about the upcoming exam and had done all he could to prepare them for it. From what he had described, the students would be called into one of three rooms where they would preform a couple of E-Rank techniques in front of a proctor. The proctor would then monitor their results and if all parameters are met, they would be promoted to genin. Arai had imagined this for a long time, but she never expected it would be so... mundane... Regardless of her feelings about it, it was her time to test her skill; to see if she was ready to become a ninja.

The proctor was ready and waiting as the student arrived, her dull golden locks tied in a no nonsense bun and her thin rectangular glasses perched high on her nose. She had seen every type of student there was in her fifteen year long career as a teacher and she was proud of it. Ushering the young woman in, she spoke sternly.

"You will demonstrate for me the clone jutsu and the transformation jutsu that you have learned. You will also demonstrate a different use for each of these jutsu," she would say, gesturing for her to stand in the middle of the class room. Once she was properly situated, the proctor would say "You may begin."

Arai was shooed into another classroom by another teacher with blonde haired bun and rectangular glasses. She had the face and feel about her that she was in no mood for pleasantries, nor was she in the mood for a greeting of any kind. She appeared to be here for the analysis and nothing else. These kind of people always made Arai nervous. It made her think the smallest mistake would cause her end goal to go up in flames, which (now that she thought about it) was probably what happened in the real world. This was probably why her parents drove her to perfection in her studies. She remembered the countless hours she'd spent either locked in her room doing book studies, or drilling with her younger sister and parents. They were strict, but they were never harsh. It was easy to mistake the two sometimes. Arai looked around the new classroom she was ushered into with a curious gaze. It looked a lot like hers, what with the opposite end of the classroom covered in rows of connecting desks. At the front of the classroom, there was a little rise that acted somewhat like a makeshift stage. Perhaps that was so the proctor could get a better angle? Arai stepped up the front as the proctor got situated, checking names, grades and such. 

"You will demonstrate for me the clone jutsu and the transformation jutsu that you have learned. You will also demonstrate a different use for each of these jutsu,"

Arai took a shaky breath. Okay.... she could do this. She'd already mastered the transformation technique so there's nothing to worry about there. The clone jutsu on the other hand, was going to be a little harder. She didn't have too much experience with that technique as she had only learned it recently. The real problem though, was thinking up a use for each one. She supposed she could say transformation could work for infiltration or fooling enemies. Clone jutsu...... fooling enemies....? She'll figure something out.

"Okay..." Arai said, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. "Transformation first, then." She began to weave the signs. Her chakra circulated through her body like electricity through wires, coming easier to her than she had expected. It came to her body so readily, so fluently, she almost jump out of her skin. She thought the concept of such a thing was hilarious and she would have giggled at herself were it not for the no nonsense gaze of the proctor across the room. She swallowed nervously and continued the technique. She weaved the three signs, imagining a thin layer of chakra over her body, giving of the illusion that she was something she wasn't. All she needed was a face. From what she understood, she didn't need to look like a person.... exactly. She could be anything. Perhaps... Arai looked at the chair the proctor was sitting on and grinned. Maybe this would work. DOG BOAR RAM. POOF! Arai was coated in a veil of smoke, covering her from head to toe. It seemed like an eternity for the smoke to clear when in reality, it only took a second or two. When the smoke did clear, Arai's figure was now replaced with an exact replica of the chair. Arai smiled to herself in congratulations, but she knew this wasn't over yet. She let her focus waver, causing another POOF of smoke to rise in the air over her, returning her physical form back to normal.

"Well... For this technique... it's good for infiltration, hiding and launching surprise attacks." Arai explained. With half of the challenge done, it was time to move onto the last part, the Clone jutsu.

Like before, Arai began to weave the signs and like before, her chakra came to her, at the ready. This time, however, it wasn't a scary feeling having her chakra flow through her so quickly. In fact, it was comforting, like being enveloped in a surprise hug. At first, surprising, then comforting and powerful. Yeah, that's a good description of it. The clone jutsu was going to be a little harder because now she had to displace her chakra outside her body to form an illusion. She remembered what her teacher had said.

"Its all in the mind. Imagine your chakra flowing outside your body, taking human shape next to you. Watch as it's chaotic nature mellows into your general shape. Then, imagine your face on its. Make it you."

Arai took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She imagined her chakra flowing first out of her, then taking shape next to her, a writhing orb of chakra. Slowly, limbs began to form, then refine. In a second, she was seeing the general outline of her body next to her, mimicking her movements. Now... to imagine it's face. She took the most recent memory of face and mixed it in with the chakra. Finally, she finished the seals. RAM. SNAKE. TIGER. POOF! This time, a poof of smoke appeared next to Arai and when it cleared, an exact copy of herself was standing next to her. Again, she let her focus wander, undoing the jutsu.

"And for this technique, it's very useful for distraction. As a ninja, it's vital to keep attention off us. So..." Arai said, shuffling her feet nervously. "What do you think...?"

The proctor's posture relaxed slightly at the girl's enthusiasm. She took pride in knowing her students and this one was just rearing to be a ninja. Picking up a Sunagakure headband, she walked over to the girl, handing her the item with a stern but kind smile. "Well done, young lady. You are now a genin of this village. Be sure to make the Sand proud of you." With that, she would dismiss the newly promoted genin.

Seeing the proctor relax made Arai relax, but her heart sped up again when she was given a suna headband and told to make the village proud. That, at the very least, she intended to do.

"I will." She said to the proctor, returning her smile. As she was dismissed, she walked out of the academy a new girl. A ninja at last and all she could do is stare at the headband she received.
