Navi's Genin Exam
Sun Jul 15, 2012 11:26 pm
He was ready, he had to be ready. Looking around the room he could tell he was one of the more prepared students. He had trained hard and studied hard. He had mastered both of the jutsu needed to pass the genin exam and his grades weren't going to be a problem.
Of course he was nervous, but he quelled the feeling quickly. Becoming a genin was the first step on the path to being a ninja. It was his first and hopefully final attempt to pass this exam.

The proctor for the Genin exam entered the room, from his attire he is notably jounin, a Konohagakure no Sato headband firmly wrapped around his head, he takes his seat behind the desk.
"Ok children, I will be your proctor for this exam, you may call me Mr.Uchigawa" He surveys the Genin he picks one out, "You there, your first" his voice and attention directed towards the young child known as Navi Church, once he reaches the front of the class he sets the rules, "You will preform the basic academy techniques for all to see, the Henge no Jutsu, and the Bunshin No Jutsu, good luck." He nods and waits.

By the time Navi had finally calmed his nerves the proctor had silently entered the room. A few kids hadn't noticed and continued to talk, but were quickly silenced by their peers. “Ok children, I will be your proctor for this exam, you may call me Mr. Uchigawa”. Navi shifted uncomfortably, he wasn't one of the usual academy teachers and seemed to be a jounin by the looks of him. Navi squirmed again, slightly intimidated by this new “Mr. Uchigawa”. The man surveyed the class for a moment, silently letting his stare rest on each one of them. The class stayed silent and stared back at him. Mr. Uchigawa broke the silence: “You there, your first”. His voice boomed and his gaze rested on Navi. His heart sank and his nerves started up again. They certainly didn't waste any time did they he thought to himself. Navi pushed his chair back, stood up and walked to the front of the room. The entire class watched silently as he shuffled towards the chalkboard besides Mr. Uchigawa. He stopped and stood next to the teacher and silently awaited instructions.
“You will perform the basic academy techniques for all to see, the Henge no Jutsu and the Bunshin no Jutsu, good luck.” Navi was arguing to himself about whether or not he would fail in his head until one realization washed over him. I was called up before he even gave out instructions, he must think I'm good enough to set an example. Navi smiled to himself. His nerves calmed and his heart stopped feeling like it was going to leap out of his chest. He slipped into a stance and clasped his hands together in order to build up some chakra. Navi had practiced all of these techniques countless times on the training field, he wouldn't fail this test.
“Alright, then” he said out loud. “First the Henge no Jutsu”. He stared at Mr. Uchigawa for a few moments. He was going to need to transform into a perfect replicate of his teacher. It was going to be easy enough, he wasn't wearing anything exotic or out of the ordinary, just some basic jounin gear. Next it was time to build up some chakra. Navi focused and took a deep breath, pushing the fact that he was being observed and tested out of his mind. After a few moments he performed a small series of handsigns followed by the words “Henge no Jutsu!”. In a small puff of smoke he perfectly mirrored Mr. Uchigawa. He also matched his pose and demeanor, just to prove he had mastered the jutsu. The class stayed silent and watched from behind there desks. Navi smiled broadly, but there was no reason to feel overly proud of himself, it was a simple jutsu with an easy target to impersonate. He looked up at the proctor and studied his face for a reaction. Mr. Uchigawa grunted approvingly and wrote something down on a clipboard.
“Now for Bunshin no Jutsu” Navi said with the same tone as before. This was a basic technique that wasn't much more advanced then the last one. All he had to do was exhibit a clone jutsu. He focused his chakra again taking a moment to clear his mind and build his power. After another deep breath he began the jutsu. “Bunshin no Jutsu!” he said aloud after performing another small series of handsigns.
Three clones appeared in a triangle formation behind him. A bead of sweat rolled down his face from his forhead. Navi slowly turned around to survey his work. A feeling of relief had washed over him, each of the clones was completely identical to him. Fortunately his nerves hadn't gotten the best of him. The entire class erupted into a chorus of moans. His performance was going to be difficult to follow. After a few moments Navi released the jutsu and the clones immediately disappeared.
Navi couldn't help but feel another pang of anxiety wash over him. That was all he had to do to prove that he had what it takes to become a Genin. Two jutsu decided whether or not he would be able to advance in his career as a ninja. He felt he performed them well, although the pressure wouldn't stop grinding down on him. A few of his friends around the class nodded and gave him thumbs up, which helped make him feel more relaxed. It wouldn't be to big of a deal he thought as he tried to calm himself down. If I don't pass that just means I get to train a little more and take the test again. The next time I would be able to pass the exam for sure. Navi was thinking it, but he wasn't believing it. He would be unimaginably frustrated if he didn't graduate from the academy so he could start training as a Genin. He desperately wanted his own headband proving that he was a full-fledged ninja, ready to face off against the enemies of Konoha. Of course he would need more training, he realized he had a long road ahead of him. Even so, Navi yearned for the title of Genin to prove to himself that he belonged as a ninja.
Navi stopped fidgeting and looked up at the stoic Mr. Uchigawa. He showed very little emotion and was difficult to read. After writing down a few more things on his clipboard he looked back up at the class. He seemed to be scanning the room for the next person to call up. Then he looked back at Navi with what seemed like a look of approval and nodded.
